Journey: ’23 -’24 Starting Sept. 12th

Are you ready? For what?  To meet your maker…

I would argue that none of us feels ready or prepared to stand under the scrutiny of the Light at the end of our lives.  We are all on a Journey from being lost to being found, from our sinful nature to a more Holy purpose, from being worldly-centered to Christ-centered.

It doesn’t matter if you are new to your spiritual journey or you grew up in the church and have half the bible memorized we can all get 1% better and take another step toward our spiritual maturity.  The Journey is about challenging ourselves individually and as a community to lean into our relationship with Christ and to be a light in this world.

The Journey is a 9-month Discipleship process to help individuals find an intimate, abiding relationship with Christ that will enable them to become Influencers in their world.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.”

Jesus- John 15:5

The Process

Small Group Discussion Meetings
A Journey group meets every week or every other week for about 9 or 10 months, either in person or on-line.  You will get to have candid conversations with this group, share spiritual discoveries and encourage one another.

Personal Bible Study including Journaling
We will teach you how to connect with God through His Word.  One key tool we use is Journaling.  Our goal is for you to have a hunger for God’s Word and become a self-feeder.

Personal Guides to help show the way
Every Journey Group has Guides who are on The Journey with you.  They are not teachers or counselors, but rather, facilitators to help point you in the right direction and to monitor your progress.

Retreats
We incorporate 3 different retreats where you will spend extended time away with your group and with the Lord.  These are usually on a Saturday.  All of these are designed to help you carve out more time for intimacy with The Father.

Dam to Dam 2024 – Preblast

The mission of F3 involves the invigoration of male community leadership. This leadership leads to impact and influence within our community. Consistent with this mission, F3 the Fort has impacted our community over the past 4 years through our fundraising efforts tied to the Dam 2 Dam relay. In total, we have raised over $100,000 towards Harlans Heroes, St. Jude, Autism Strong, Defend the Fatherless as well as created a scholarship for local high school seniors at all 3 schools in the Fort Mill area.

This year, we are requesting your support by participating in the Dam 2 Dam relay which will be held on Saturday, February 17th. The relay consists of 100km run from Lake Murray Dam to Lake Greenwood Dam and can include 4-6 runners. Registration will open on September 1st at 7 AM and will likely be sold out by 8 AM so there is a high sense of urgency. Below is the link to the website where you can find the registration:

https://damtodamrelay.com

Our goal is to raise $50,000 to support the ongoing local F3 scholarships as well as an additional local charity yet to be identified (Coming soon). To meet this goal, we have the following planned events:

September – TBD

October – TBD

November – BBQ and Bourbon 11/10/23

December – Shanking with Stang

January – Dam 2 Dam Bar 10k

There will be more details to follow via Slack. Please reach out if you have any questions or ideas to support. Look forward to continuing to impact our community!

HIMpact in The Fort

  • QIC: Double D
  • When: 07/31/2023
  • Posted In: Pre-Blast

Pax of The Fort, I’m challenging you to seize the arrival of August as a time to recommit to our mission to invigorate Male Community Leadership.  The start of school is on its way.  The season of vacations and less routine is winding down.  The opportunity to re-establish routines and re-engage in our community is upon us.

As next week builds toward a Convergence on Friday and Stuff-the-Bus on Saturday, I’d like to highlight the combined power of Fitness, Fellowship and Faith to invigorate men and to impact communities.  For every post by a pax at an official Fort activity during the week of 7/31, a donation will be made in honor of pax of The Fort.  As of July 30th, the donation amount is $6.00 per post.  That’s right, 10 pax at Flight Plan equals $60.  Same for all workouts.  And the same for our 2nd and 3rd F activities.  To qualify, the pax must show up in a backblast for workouts or in a photo on Slack for 2nd and 3rd F events.

The funds will be allocated as follows:

  • 40% to Stuff-the-Bus
  • 40% to Bethel Men’s Shelter
  • 20% to The Fort’s operating fund to cover comz and other admin expenses

So, get out of the fartsack, stay after the workout for 2nd or 3rd F, and volunteer for our service initiatives.  All you have to do is show up.  Your presence impacts our community!

Multiple pax are contributing to the cause.  And all are welcome to join the matching campaign at any level.  Just DM me on Slack to inspire the pax even more!

Changes Are Coming

One of the things F3 does well is promote individual leadership. It provides a platform where everyone is Free To Lead in whatever initiative they see is necessary to create an impact. We step up to be QICs for AO’s, 1st,2nd and 3rdF events, etc. and that’s the great sign of a leader.

Another great sign of a leader is understanding your audience and impact, understanding when to pívot and readjust. Follow me here. With the plethora of AO’s to choose from on a day to day basis, sometimes some sites get left out with no one showing up to support. That can be very deflating to a person’s ego. With Wednesdays being one of the days where there are so many choices to pick from, I’m choosing to adjust Tallawah’s schedule from weekly to bimonthly.

Starting Sept 6, Tallawah will only be opened on the first and third Wednesdays (and fifth if applicable) for a 45 minute gear workout. After August 16, the next time Tallawah will be opened will be Sept 6.

Thank you,
Beaker out ✌🏾🧪

Esso Rising

  • QIC: Slapshot
  • When: 08/04/2023
  • Posted In: Pre-Blast

I’m pleased to share the news that on August 4th, Esso will take the Shovel Flag as Nantan of The Fort!  I hope you’ll join me at The Ballroom (Pleasant Knoll Middle School) at 0515 that morning for a convergence workout when we’ll honor this HIM as he steps forward to lead us on the next 43 Feet.

At this stage of The Fort’s history, as we approach our 11th anniversary, we’re one of the “mature” regions in F3 Nation.  We reached the point several years ago where we “checked all the boxes” so to speak – numerous daily 1st F activities, regular 2nd F and 3rd F activities, local CSAUPs, a prevalence of Shield Lock and Whetstone groups, an active commitment to community service, stable SLT structure, vibrant Comz platforms, etc.  This is a sign of riches, ones we might even take for granted at times.  In fact, this is a point where complacency could set in if we’re not careful.

Yet, even as a mature region, I’d suggest we’re just now entering the phase where we can really begin to bear fruit in a significant way.

Like a tree, The Fort experienced a period of vigorous growth in the early years.  Some of those early shoots withered amid hard freezes or arid periods.  Over the following  years, we saw many branches grow stronger and sturdier.  We’re able to sustainably withstand the impact of life’s storms on our pax, shifting participation and engagement patterns based on the seasons, and even a global pandemic.  Through all this, our region has continued to grow, often in ways we don’t easily recognize – deeper roots, broader canopy, thicker trunk.

As we often say, our mission is aimed at “invigorating Male Community Leadership.”  Male leaders impacting our community, that’s our fruit.  I’ve seen vivid examples of this fruit in the past few weeks from photos on Slack – a kitchen at Bethel Men’s Shelter overflowing with pax, Ms and 2.0s, a similar crowd at trash pick-up, and another group of pax and community leaders supporting Defend the Fatherless at a Pints & Padres cookout.  This certainly isn’t the first fruit from The Fort, nor or these the only avenues for bearing fruit.  But I believe these reflect a small sample of the abundant fruit that lies ahead for us.

As I think about our community and leadership, I’m thrilled by the prospect of Esso leading us at this moment.  We have huge potential to expand our profile in the local community and to elevate our development of leaders to impact the community.  Esso is a Fort Mill native, with long and deep community ties.  His story includes personal growth that’s been turbo-charged by his F3 journey.  Plus, he’s a sales and marketing leader with the expertise to amplify The Fort’s presence and to inspire the pax.

So, get your six over to The Ballroom on August 4th and prepare to fuel up on inspiration!

The Journey – 23 – ’24 Tour of Duty

Are you interested in growing in your faith walk? Discovering a path toward an Intimate, Abiding relationship with Christ through a small group study during the ’23 – ’24 school year.

Maybe you have been in the church for your entire life, the last 10 years or you are just now opening your mind to this idea of a higher power… a “Sky Q”.  Regardless of where you are in your faith walk, we all have room to grow and mature in our relationship with Christ.

We are all on a faith journey and some of us are more or less equipped to take our faith deeper.  If you have a gap in any of these areas then I have a challenge for you.

1.      Do you feel that you have created a solid foundation of knowing who God is and his desire to be a part of your life?

2.      Are you in a group that is consistently seeking to grow in a relationship with God?

3.      Do you feel that you have an adequate tool kit to help you grow deeper in your faith?

On July 13th (for 4 weeks) at ‘Hanging with Stang, we will be launching into an introduction of the Journey through a short study.  Come and join to learn more and see how this intersects with your season of life in your faith Journey.  Please reach out to Chicken Hawk, JWOW or Cornerstone with any questions.
