78 zealous Pax converged in the gloom at the 19-degree frozen tundra of WEP to honor a brother (Joe Davis), support a brother (Rock Thrill) and commit themselves to shed personal idols (ie, addictions) in favor of a higher purpose. On a day when 5k runners needed extra time to warm up in order to prevent injury, Santini did not disappoint as QIC.

Happy to have so many Pax share pain and brotherhood at The Fort! Special credit goes to FNGs for braving bitter cold and taking on a Double Down for their initiation. Keep bringing it!
Santini challenged the Pax to develop a single word that would serve as a personal theme for 2014.
Rock Thrill thanked the Pax for support of his brother and family. God works his plan in his own ways, as evidenced by 78 Pax and 600+ runners at the event.
Honey Bee and Wingman outdid themselves in terms of rations for outdoor coffeeteria, complete with propane heaters!
Until next time – Aye!
Great event, extremely well organized with a great beatdown (I think it cost me on the last hill on the 5k but then I think everyone else had the same excuse which means it’s no excuse). Awesome to see so many pax out support Rock Thrill. Will need to repeat (but with more pax) for next year. Thanks to the Fort for their efforts and Honey Bee and Wingman and to Rock Thrill for the invite.
Great event! Still a little sore as well. Thanks to all named above for their time/effort to make this a success. Next year I am planning to skip the double down and just come for the 5K so I have enough left in the tank to pass that 12 year old ginger who crossed the finish line .11 seconds before me.
It was inspiring to be part of this workout and 5K. Fort Mill has a great location to work out.
What a day! Thanks to the area 51 guys for the great support, food, drink and heat! I must say I enjoyed paying you back for all the pain you’ve inflicted on me at the South Charlotte workouts Hope we can do it again next year.
