2/10/2016 Black Diamond Relaunch Party

  • QIC: Pebbles
  • When: 02/10/2016
  • Pax: Mr. Bean, Mario, Wild Turkey, Fire Hazard, Outback, JRR Tolken, Lex Luther, Soft Pretzel
  • Posted In: Uncategorized

A solid group of nine men decided reignite the Black Diamond Torch and beat down the path for all future Black Diamond PAX.

YHC promised a solid beatdown and hopefully came through.

Warm-up

I would prefer to just jump right in, but a warm-up is a necessary evil with all the blue hairs that showed up. I tried to keep it short. Just enough to get the blood moving.

SSH x 20

Imperial Walker x20

Windmill x 10

Squat x 20 (double counts)

The Thang

The first exercise was called “The 6 minute mile”. No demo needed.

3 laps around Loch Ness with a target time of 6 minutes.

This exercise on had a 30% success rate. JRR Token took an impressive lead and showed what he can do with some fresh wheels. He easily finished under the 6 minute mark.

The remaining PAX were not given the privilege of finishing and were intercepted and quickly ushered to the next station.

There was a little confusion during the mosey (potentially intentional on the part of the PAX) which led to a little more recovery  than YHC would have preferred. Once we regrouped, we completed 10 muscle ups on the retaining wall along the south side of Brixham Hill Ave.  The section of wall we used was between 5 and 6 ft and height.

After completing the the muscle ups, the PAX were ready to increase the difficulty and tackle the next challenge.

Mosey to the retaining wall on Conlan Cir.

The retaining wall on Conlan circle is approximately 200 feet in length.  It comprised of 11 sections that increase by approximately 1ft in height as the PAX travel from east to west along Conlan Cir.  The PAX used their muscle up technique to vault themselves over the wall beginning with the shortest wall (~3ft) and running around to the next wall section until failure.

Most PAX put in a Superhuman effort, typically reaching failure around 8 – 8.5 ft; however, Mario and Lex Luther, set the bar high with a maximum height of approximately 9.5 ft.

After completing the Zombie Apocalypse training portion of the workout.  YHC had the PAX stop for 10 more muscle ups (set at 7ft) at the Brixham Hill retaining wall while I thought of what to do next.

The following evolution was thrown together-

Begin on the east side of Loch Ness and run counter clockwise, stopping to complete the following stations:

station 1 – (south patio) 10 burpees

station 2- (west patio) 10 box jumps

station 3- (fit trail) 20 dips

station 4- (fit trail) 10 pull-ups

run out to the marriot parking lot

The PAX were given 6 minutes to complete the exercise.

This exercise had about a 50% graduation rate- much better than before.

With some impending gloom, I gave the PAX a little rest: aka 3 minutes of Mary

Following the Mary, we moseyed to a quiet, well lit corner of the parking lot, and got in a tight circle as I announced the closer.

The 10 minute 100 burpee challenge

Complete 10 1-minute rounds of burpees in the following set scheme. Any time left over in the round is yours for rest. (typically PAX finish the set between 25 and 40 seconds)

Rd1- 8

Rd2- 9

Rd3- 10

Rd4- 11

Rd5-12

Rd6-12

Rd7-11

Rd8-10

Rd9- 9

Rd10- 8

Total – 100

I saw some men beginning to fall out around round 4 and 5, but they re-established themselves after some encouragement from Mr. Bean and others and powered through.

After the 100 Burpee Challenge, the PAX came in for a quick huddle while I tried my best to speak some words of encouragement.  Following the Pep talk, the PAX were instructed to run to the top of the B-village parking deck, where we would rendezvous and call it a day. With only 4 minutes left, the PAX new they would have to be fast.

Everyone took off in a impressive manner…and then my calf exploded….

I was left in the dust, but was happy to see my F3 brothers waiting for me at the top of the parking deck returning their own words of encouragement as I hobbled to the top.

At this point, we were beyond the 615 deadline and completed a mobile COT.

Announcements:

Soft Pretzel is nominated for your next BD Q. Its sure to be a good one…as long as he doesn’t launch down in Lancaster, or where ever the hell he lives.

JRR Tolken is throwing down his “Lord of the Rings Trilogy Challenge”…if your not sure what that is, just stand next to him for about three minutes…I’m sure he’ll mention it.

Please pray for MT’s sister and her new baby.

#UvsU portion

In honor of Super Bowl 50…the circuit consisted of 10 burpees and run down to the mill stone, up the stairs, across the top of the park, and back to the parking lot…we did the circuit 5 times…lots of running #F3RunClub…gather and final lap to pick up the 6

Sermon #2 (below)

Mosey, one stop with flutters, mosey home

COT

Prayer and Praise

BOM

NMM

Congratulations to my @Broncos and their victory in #SB50

Sermon #1: The refs did not have a great game, and the poor calls were perceived as slanted against both teams. I was disappointed by Cam and his missed opportunity to take charge of “his” team during a very disappointing loss, Carolina is going to be back, but it would have been great to see a #HIM accept his role as a leader instead of being overwhelmed in the moment. Peyton also disappointed me with his going to have a bunch of “Budweiser” tonight…where does that come from? Even if you feel like that, how can that be on top of mind, when you are playing the biggest, and last game in a Hall of Fame career?

Sermon #2: 2015 was the @F3TheFort year of #HIM, what I soon realized is that most men are competitive and in an attempt to be a #HIM, Satan quickly got involved and the comparison sin quickly burrowed in just under the surface of our group. While I believe competition is a good thing, comparison is extremely unhealthy, in that it hurts the men “miffed” by not “keeping up” and the “guilt” felt by the men farther along the journey and trying / pulling the group along. Therefore to truly make an impact you need to behave in a #UvsU (you verse you) mentality, and give your peer group your best in everything. This passes across all men from stones, blades, and comrades. We all know that we are “weak” men, and know that we need support to truly display our best. A #UvsU environment, and challenging others with your best will change our groups dynamics…find me to discuss, as this idea is evolving with me.

Always an honor to lead, T-Claps to Repeat for the invite,

Be a better man today than you were yesterday,

AYE!

Pre-Blast Krispy Kreme Run 4 Reading

  • QIC: Schrute
  • When: 02/27/16
  • Pax: All Pax of The Fort, The Patriot, York, and any other Pax that want a good time.
  • Posted In: Uncategorized

One of the things we’re known for here in F3 Nation is our ability to do stupid things for no reason. We do them all the time through CSAUPs and other events. Here’s an opportunity to do something completely stupid, but for a great cause!

The Krispy Kreme Run 4 Reading is a 4 mile race, starting in #OldTown Rock Hill. You’ll run 2 miles to the Winthrop campus, scarf down a dozen donuts, then run 2 miles back to Fountain Park in Old Town. (There will be trash cans available throughout the route to make deposits). Rumor is that Burgundy finished 3rd last year and is going for the win this year. There are also options that do not include eating the donuts as you run, including a 4 mile run and a 1 mile relay on a team of 4 participants.

Who is it for? This run supports the York County Early Learning Partnership. This organization is a nonprofit that exists to support the health and development of children from ages 0-6 in York County. They do this through supporting literacy programs, the 4 Family Resource Centers (one in each school district in the county) that include medical clinics for uninsured children in York County.

Why is this important?

Educators know that the first 4 years of life can make all the difference for a child. A few facts:

  • Studies show that children entering Kindergarten may have as much of a vocabulary gap as eight years. That is because a child who has not been read aloud to may have limited vocabulary of a 2-year-old, while a child who has been read aloud to every day may have the vocabulary of a 10-year-old.
  • The average middle-income child has 100 hours of being read aloud to as compared to 25 hours for low-income children.
  • 35% of children arrive at kindergarten not prepared to learn (11% for York County).

Ok–so I’m in. What are the details?

Sign-up:  https://run4reading.racesonline.com/

Date/Time: Feb 27th at 8:30 AM

Location: Fountain Park in Rock Hill

Options: 4 Mile with eating doughnuts at Mile 2, 4 miles with carrying doughnuts, or 1 mile relay

We’ll likely meet up before the race to warm up and do what we do–likely at the Old Town AO behind Wells Fargo. (more info on the Twitter to come). I hope to see many of my F3 brothers out there as we continue to get the word out about F3.

Edit: Just found this coupon for half off on registration. Coupon

No Post-SB Letdown in Old Town

  • QIC: Schrute
  • When: 02/08/16

  • Posted In: Uncategorized

I was honored to lead 8 of my brothers this morning for a bit of Palmetto 200 training in the Hot Box (the Garage) in Old Town Rock Hill.

At 5:15 sharp, we moseyed over to the Garage. Once there, we did the following:

Warmup:

SSH x 25

Windmill x 10

Merkin x 10

Moroccan Night Club x 20

Karaoke from one side of garage to other, come back the other direction

Butt Kickers from one side of garage to other, Toy Solider the other direction.

The Thang

AMRAP – Run to top of parking deck, 25 Merkins, back down on ramps, back up 25 Squats, back down on ramps, back up, 25 LBCs. Do as many as possible. Most guys got in at least 6 down and ups.

At 5:50-we moseyed for a spell.

Stop in front of the mural on Main Street covered by the scaffolding. Most of us pass this mural each week and don’t give it a second thought. This mural was painted last year by students from Ebinport Elementary and South Pointe High School. Unfortunately, the art teacher at Ebinport, Jimmie Matthews passed away Thursday night. As we looked at the mural, I asked the Pax one question: “What have you poured into another today?” Jimmie was well known for the many things he did for students and families around Rock Hill–and we’d all be challenged to follow his example.

We ran on to the alley beside COT for a bit of people’s chair. As we were in people’s chair, alarms went off letting us know it was 6 AM and time to get back to COT.

Announcements:

Continue to support Popeye as he launches F3 York

Donut Run on Feb 27th

2.0 workout coming on Feb. 27th (see more details soon)

Prayer requests:

Apollo Creed’s friend who is having housing issues

Young man that Tinker Toy has worked with for years to get settled

The family and friends of Jimmie Matthews, including the staffs of Ebinport Elementary and Independence Elementary (where he worked for over 20 years)

Everyone got in at least 3 miles, some more. Great work by all men today!

Zima needed a sub at the school and everyone loves when the substitute comes in for the regular teacher because its going to be work on your own or draw a picture or something not as challenging. However this is F3 and when a call for a sub Q is put out there the PAX should be jumping at the opportunity to lead. Leading is freedom to do what you want, say what you want and grow as a leader. I could have ran us down to Duncan Donuts and had a coffee and ran us back, but opted for Swing Crunches and Mtn Climbers instead. Anywho….when faced with an opportunity to lead….I suggest you take that step forward, sub for the regular and grow as a man.

The Thang:

Mountain Climbers, Squats, Imperial Walkers, Mosey to back of school

Partner up: #1 10 Swing Crunches / #2 Sumo Squats 3 rounds each

Mountain Climbers, Squats, Mosey to front field of school

Star of Death (Not really but it sounds cool)

Start in the center (Thin Mints Box) and do 10 V-ups, bear crawl to each cone and perform exercise listed on cone as a team, spint back to center and 10 v-ups again & rotate to next spoke.

Spoke #1=10 Apollo Onos, 15 Ski Hops, 20 wide arm Merkins

Spoke #2=10 Carolina Dry Docks, 15 lunge hops, 20 Donkey Kicks

Spoke #3=10 Inch Worm Merkins, 15 Merkins, 20 sumo squats

Spoke #4=10 Peter Parkers, 15 something, 20 leg lifts

Repeat 1st spoke for Bonus round

2-Merkins

3-Lung Hops

4-Donkey Kicks

5-Burpees

6-LBCs

Flutter Kicks and COT

21 Minutes of #BearCrawls then….. mostly #F3RunClub

  • QIC: Crab Cakes and Gekko
  • When: 02/06/16
  • Pax: Spitz, Change Order, Jiffy, Howitzer, Lug Nut, Fish Sticks, Mr. Clean, White Lightning, Javier, Spark Plug, Vector Victor, Smuggler
  • Posted In: Alcatraz

14 strong pax tried to escape from #Alcatraz but found themselves torn between really hating #BearCrawls and really hating #F3RunClub.  All locked shields and made it through better men.

The Thang:

COP Warmup:

20 x IM then 10 x WM then 15 x MC then 15 x LSS then 15 x Froggers (Crowd Pleaser!) then 20 x SSH then 15 x Peter Parkers  Warmup – over.

Lineup on the line for everyone’s favorite – the Extra Long #BearCrawl (I guess the joking around is over)

When finished – line it up and do it again (Crowd Pleaser!)

Line-up for the Tunnel of #BearCrawl (except without the Tunnel – watch out for the #BearCrawl parallel park!)

O.K. what to do???  Let’s try four corners (Merkins x 20, Burpees x 10, Everyone’s New Favorite – Froggers x 10, Bomb Jacks x 10) but instead of a run between…..let us try some more #BearCrawls.

Well that took 21 minutes and YHC was all out of new ways to incorporate #BearCrawls into this workout – better hand it over to Gekko who wanted to do some running (#F3RunClub)

In tribute to the Carolina Panthers making the Super Bowl – Gekko thought it appropriate to recap their season with some Points Per Exercise based on their weekly results this past year.  Oh and he also added some #F3RunClub between weekly reviews (Allllll the way around the park?  Yes – allllllllllll the way around the park).

6 weeks were reviewed and (like the opponents defense) we couldn’t keep the Panthers under 30.  There were merkins, CDDs, MCs, squats, etc., etc., etc. with A LOT of #F3RunClub right amongst it.

When we had enough NFL in our workout – Gekko took us to the field for some BTTW followed by various crawls along the ground that did not include any #Bears. Cherry on top was the Mack-Tar-Jie (phonetically speaking) to finish everything up.

COT

Fantastic job by the pax to handle the 40/60 split of #BearCrawls and #F3RunClub and not complain (too much).  T-claps the Gekko for Q-ing the majority when YHC had enough.

Announcements – F3York and F3LakeWylie are ramping up big time so read your newsletter and GET INVOLVED!!!  Help spread this great thing called F3 to all that need it – we all know what it did and continues to do for us.

There are various opportunities to help worthy causes AND join in the #F3RunClub in the local community – there are good causes throughout our area that NEED OUR HELP!  Get right amongst it.

Prayers to Spitz’s friend that needs medical care late in his life – think about those out there that could use our help right now to avoid more pain later in life.  Prayers to the family of YHC co-worker who passed away 18 months after retirement – do not wait to have joy in your life – you need to work on enjoying the #PRESENT.

As always – a true honor to lead such a great group of men.  Aye!

Scarce, But Found, Coupons

  • QIC: Old Bay
  • When: 02/6/16
  • Pax: Atlas, Copay, Ringer, Old Bay
  • Posted In: The Reservation

Four pax gathered at The Reservation on a refreshingly cool morning for YHC’s VQ at this AO.  The afternoon before, my 2.0 and I moseyed all around the IL campus in search of some natural gear to serve as coupons (quarry rock being idea).  Note for future Q’s of The Reservation, quarry rock can be found in front of ILMS, near 521 (southern side).

The pax of IL were very very welcoming of YHC as a Q that doesn’t make it out to IL very often.  Everyone pushed and encouraged each other well, and hopefully got a little stronger from it.  There was much mumble chatter about the Superbowl and qualities of QB’s on both sides.

The Thang:

Mosey around ILES to bus lot for COP Warm-up
– SSH x40
– IW (high) x20 => High Knee
– Monkey Humpers x20
– Windmills x20 =>Butt Kickers
– Mountain Climbers x20
– Plank Jacks x20 => Toy Soldiers
– Low Slow Squat x20
– Dry Docks x10

Mosey to front of IL Middle School for quarry rocks
Exercise, sprint, plank, 6 inches:
– 10 sqts
– 10 sqts, 10 curls
– 10 sqts, 10 curls, 10 press
– 10 sqts, 10 curls, 10 press, 10 tri
– 10 curls, 10 press, 10 triceps
– 10 press, 10 triceps
– 10 triceps

Replace coupons and mosey to top of dragon’s back

Partner up for hill work. Partner 1 performs exercise (a) while each partner 2 runs to the bottom of the hill, performs the “bottom of the hill” exercise (10 reps), and runs back up. Flapjack. Repeato for exercises (b) and (c). Slight recovery before proceeding to rounds 2 and 3.

Round 1 Round 2 Round 3
Top of Hill:
(a) Freddies
(b) LBCs
(c) Russian Twists
Top of Hill:
(a) Mountain Climbers
(b) Plank Jacks
(c) Peter Parkers

(b) Jump Squats
(c) Lunges
Bottom of Hill:
Box Cutters x10
Bottom of Hill:
Wide-arm Merkins x10
Bottom of Hill:
Bombjacks x10

The original weinke had extra credit of runs (with partner) to the bottom of the hill and bear crawl up while the 6 finishes for each round.  All teams stayed pretty close through the exercises, so there wasn’t an opportunity for that between rounds.  However, a run down and bearcrawl up was done after round 3.

Lap around the baseball field and back to the parking lot for a few minutes of Mary.

  • Flutters x20
  • Hello Dolly x20
  • Rosalitas  x20

Thanks to Heisman for allowing me to Q at this awesome AO.  There’s not a much better way to start the weekend than working hard with great men in pursuit to make our selves better on many levels.

Release The Dragon in York

  • QIC: Popeye & Burgundy
  • When: 02/06/16
  • Pax: Solid State, Turbine, Mayflower, Royale, Real Tree, Walker, Shamrock, Posh, Bull, Smoke Wagon, Apache, FNGs: Nunchuck, High Pockets, Orvis
  • Posted In: The Fort

We have main engine start and a great launch of the NEW F3 York aka #TheDragon. 16 PAX including 3 FNGs were on hand for the release of the Dragon AO at York Comprehensive High School. YHC would like to extend thanks to Apache and other PAX involved for helping us get this AO off the ground. YCHS has so much potential for workouts, but the area of York is prime for EHing men to F3.

THE THANG

YHC took the first round for a warm up before a Burgundy Beat down.

WARM UP:

  • SSH X10
  • IW X10
  • MNC X10
  • MERKINS X10
  • SEAL JACKS X10

Mosey to the adjacent parking lot from the COT to the hill next to the road.

  • Backwards Jacobs Ladder
  • Run to the top do 10 merkins
  • Run to the bottom 10 squats
  • Rinse and Repeat minus one of each until you get to 1.

MOSEY to the student drop off circle next to Cougar statue.

On while planning this workout looking at google earth this mini-track looking circle looked nice and flat. It was discovered that one one side the incline of this mini track was pretty awful.

4-Corners of Pain

  • Corners 1 & 3 = 20 Squats & 20 SSH
  • Corners 2 & 4 = 10 Merkins & 10 Plank Jacks
  • High knees the short sides.
  • Two rounds.

STOP for a little MOLE SKIN – YHC gave a run down of the 3 F’s of F3 for the FNGs. Telling them how I feel the 1st F is just a by product of the 2nd and 3rd F’s. I explained how F3 is much more than a typical workout groups. WE strive to be High Impact Men, leaving this Earth Sky Q gave us just a little bit better than how we found it. I talked about Frank Abagnale – The person featured in the movie / book ‘Catch Me if You Can’. How early in life he was a criminal expert, check fraud scammer who could fake everything from millions of dollars of fraudulent check, to documents which made him a Airline Pilot, Lawyer, & Doctor. He was so good at his crimes he was arrested but then eventually employed by the FBI to help them track down and find other a scam artists.  He said in one of his books this quote: “Remember what being an adult is; it has nothing to do with money or rewards. A real man loves and is faithful to his wife. You will do nothing greater in life than be a great spouse and parent.”

Go home and focus on the important things in life… Family.

HAND OFF – Burgundy:

Mosey around to the other side of the school to what should be from now on called pain alley after last week’s Pusher wall of pain and now Burgundy’s Burpees of Pain. We circled up and commenced 50 Burpees 10 each in this form:

  • 10 Flying Squirrels (Burpee w/out push up)
  • 10 Regular Burpees
  • 10 Burpees + 4 plankjacks
  • 10 Burpees + 4 plankjacks + 2 Mountain Climbers
  • 10 Burpees + 4 plankjacks + 2 Mountain Climbers + 1 jump tuck

Yes you are right… It was as painful as it sounds. There were several 10 counts in between.

Next:

  • two rounds of caterpillars/ bear crawls with a merkin in between around 3 steps/hand walks approx. 10 yards. Shoulder burner!

MOSEY to “The Playground” ROTC Obstacle Course

  • Rows of two start at the dip bar
  • Dip race – run zigzag pattern around the next obstacle – crawl across the cargo net – bear crawl under the next pipe obstacle. Rinse and Repeat

MOSEY back to the COT for a 3 minute ab-lab (LBCs, Flutters, 6-inches)

DONE! I’m out of breath just writing this hour of pain.

We have barely scratched the surface on the potential of YCHS. Check the Q spread sheet to see when you have the opportunity to bring the heat to the Dragon’s Lair.

Let’s keep on EH’ing folks that you know who live or work around York, SC. At #coffeeteria afterwards there was already some excitement and talk about adding another week day AO in the area between York and Clover. Operation F3 Annoconda York County is picking up speed.

Welcome Mayflower who we TurkwyPunched at last week’s re-con who started F3 in Charlotte and is pumped that he found F3 here in York close to home. Also welcome FNGs Nunchuck, High Pockets and Orvis. We hope you take the #redpill to becoming #HIM for this AO in York.  Get to #TurkeyPunching!

Popeye OUT!

With the excitement at an all time high for the Panther’s heading into the Super Bowl Sunday, I thought I would have a Panther themed workout designed for the Yard.  A teaser was sent out on twitter the night before listing 18 players and their #….how could this be used in a workout?  12 men took the bait and joined me for some Panther Pain at The Yard!!!

With 2 FNG’s present a thorough disclaimer was given and we were off for a mosey to the back of Elem School. Circle for SSH, IW, Windmill all IC, began mosey back with buttkickers, high knees and toy soldiers. Mosey back to bus lot. Series of shuffle right & left and karaoke right & left across lot. With warm up complete, we moseyed to wall where the Panther Players were posted.

The Thang:

18 players were selected for the 17 current wins this season and the anticipated 18th win in the 50th Super Bowl. The players jersey number was listed which would represent the number of reps for each exercise. The exercise was pre-determined and placed in a bowl for random drawing by the Pax. Below are the exercises listed by player number, but completed on a random drawing. Funny how the last exercise for 88 reps was actually chosen last. Maybe the hidden message was to Finish Strong and don’t give up!!!

  • 1 – Cam Newton = 1 minute plank
  • 3 – Derek Anderson = 3 station suicide
  • 8 – Brad Nortman = Burpees
  • 9 – Graham Gano = Diamond Merkins
  • 10 – Philly Brown = Donkey Kicks
  • 11 – Brenton Bersin = Full sit-ups
  • 13 – Kelvin Benjamin = Mtn Climbers
  • 14 – Joe Webb = CDD
  • 17 – Devin Funchess = Wide Arm Merkins
  • 19 – Ted Ginn Jr. =  Monkey Humpers
  • 20 – Curt Coleman = Merkins
  • 24 – Josh Norman = Squats
  • 27 – Robert McClain = Russian Twist
  • 28 – Jonathan Stewart = Dips
  • 35 – Mike Tolbert = Calf Raises
  • 58 – Thomas Davis = LBC
  • 59 – Luke Kuechly = Moroccan Night Clubs
  • 88 – Greg Olsen = Overhead Claps (crowd favorite especially being last)

So the selection process began, after 3 exercises we would mosey around the lot and come back for 3 more. First mosey was Indian run with 5 SSH, 2nd mosey around the bus lot, 3rd mosey to the driveway post separating entry and exit lanes for some fast feet agility weaving between the posts, 4th mosey around bus lot.  Running out of time, we powered through the remaining exercises and as luck would have it, the last ticket pulled was #88 for o/h claps. We had a special drop in appearance by Longshanks as he had worked out at WEP and ran to the Yard for a few minutes and then off again, #yeti.

With a 7:00 start time this morning it gave me time to think about the word Love for February and how I would bring this message into the Yard this morning. As I turned to Feb 6th of my daily devotion, my message became clear. Today the devotion title is “What True Love Looks Like”. Based on 1 Cor 13, we often hear this read at weddings about love is patient, love is kind…..Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful and endures through every circumstance. As I read this I thought about how I love and many times I love with expectation of receiving back.  We see so much today that confuses love with affection.  We should follow the example of Christ’s love, by loving unconditionally, others-centered and enduring. Show love by being active in the lives of others (spouse, family and friends). Talk to them and, more importantly, listen to them. Invest your time and your attention. Real love changes lives, including yours.

If you have been searching for a daily devotion book, I would highly recommend Uncommon Life by Tony Dungy. It amazes me how daily messages can be so on point to the message needed for that exact day. God has a message for each of us, if we take the time to spend time with Him and LISTEN!!!

i enjoyed being able to Q this morning in substitute for Stang and meet some guys I have not met before. It was my first time as Q when FNG’s showed up. The Yard is a great site that offers many options. Announcements were made and prayers/praises were lifted. Praise for Boehiem and C3PO.  Prayers for the day, that we can show unconditional love in our homes and community and let God’s love be seen in our actions.

  • QIC: Solid State / Aquaman
  • When: 01/30/16
  • Pax: Spud, Spark Plug, Fish Sticks, Senator Tressel, Howitzer, Aquaman, Cornhole
  • Posted In: Alcatraz, The Fort

I picked up the Q as a trade with Bing who will be taking the reigns in the April. – Watch out

It turned out to be a good trade too, as I would be Q’ing with Aquaman.
I often see people complaining about his Q’s after they post. “The Pain, the pain!”

– Sweet!

The Thing

Warm up
– SSH
– Merkins
– Imperial Walker
– Windmills

Stroll around the field discovering four markers along the way…

A little game of “Four Corners”.

Partner up

Returning to the first marker, partner one would perform an exercise as slow as possible while partner two would run a lap around the four stations as fast as possible. Partners switch positions on return.

The goal of the effort was to have as low of a count between the two as possible.
To keep things even and aid accountability at the stations, the cadence was to be managed by the pax together. We would do this for each station.

Station 1 – Merkins
Wheelbarrow to station 2
Station 2 – Squats
Slow bear crawl to station 3
Station 3 – the Burpee
Wheelbarrow (partner switch) to station 4
Station 4 – Mountain Climbers (methinks)

With the six in, we moseyed to the middle of the field.
Jack Web 10/40 (don’t forget to count)
Pax Choice ab lab – Everyone had a turn

The Q was then turned over to Aquaman

With the rising sun, we ventured out of the park…
Off to that friendly sounding Tara Tea Drive… (what a monster…)

Cones were placed along the side of the road from the bottom of the hill to the top

We were to do exercises from one cone to the next
First cone to second: burpee broad jumps
second to third: Ono’s
Third to top of hill: Bear Crawl

After we summited this the first time, Aqauman says:
“Find a good pace, we’ll be doing this for awhile…” and… we did…

Excellent effort by all men, I think everyone summited Tara Tea at least four times.

Next, Aquaman doubled the cones and we did reverse suicide ladder up that monster. (Nobody misses this.)

Then we posted at the top of the hill where we did ab work using the incline to your dis-advantage.
Goal: 50 leg raises from decline / 50 sit-ups from decline

With that we were broken! Aye!

NMM

I had a theme in mind for the workout this morning, but when it looked like the pax were all my seniors, I dropped the theme realizing that I had nothing to share but respect. Humbling experience to post with my elders as they take the DRP. #Respect

Here is what struck me as I was leaving the post that morning…

First: What is your weinke this weekend? This week? This month?

Second: Are you going to honor it?

Never give up, take your ground and press on. Aye!

On that note:
