Tough It Out

11 PAX filled the parking lot at Tega Cay Elementary School on a frigid #recordbreaker of a morning.  They were greeted with the smooth and dulcet tones of Metallica belting out the live version of “For Whom The Bell Tolls” (on repeat, mind you- its a short song, cant have it fade out while I’m setting the stage..#veteranmove)

Gather up.  Double fist bumps around, general pump ups, abbr. disclaimer (no FNGs).

BOM: Talk mental toughness. When preparing for today’s #beatdown, the theme of mental toughness kept reoccurring in my brain.  What does it mean in sports, what does in mean in life?  The combination of today’s natural elements and intensity of workout would test our mettle, our resolve, and our mental toughness.   Interesting article that weaves mental toughness together with relating to leadership below.  I focused on Principle 2:   Mental Toughness In The Gym (#gloom) Correlates To Mental Toughness In Life.  You don’t become successful at anything by letting your foot off of the gas pedal when the going gets tough.  This includes the gym, your marriage, and your business”.

http://www.bensternleadership.com/2012/07/30/leadership-thoughts-on-mental-toughness/

With an AYE! 11 strong- took off…

1 mile fast run through neighborhood to stairs. Plank for #six.

6 flights of stairs/landings. Alternate forward and reverse bear crawl with each flight.

50 flutter kicks at each landing- 300 ttl. (double count COP style) Winner for #mumblechatter today

Plank for #six at top. Small set of stretches and Mountain Climbers until 6 arrives

Fast run to Stadium

Stadium has ground level and 4 ascending hill/landings. PAX will do exercise, switch, run up hill to next landing with block and begin next exercise.  Due to #strong turnout-  6 cinderblocks for 11 ppl. PAX to pair off and trail partner throughout exercise. Partner does SSH while waiting.

G Level: 10 Cinder Block Burpee.#mumblechatter here and will no doubt be added to the repertoire.

Level 1:  10 CB curls

Level 2:  20 CB shoulder press

Level 3:  30 CB rows

Level 4:  40 CB squat

Rinse/Repeat

NMM:

I was inspired by the turnout for today’s Black Diamond.  Great work, Men!  Today we scratched the surface but nowhere near the potential of TCES as an AO site.  Lots of opportunity for #pain.  Particularly the back steps- next time, gents, we will plank walk down the steps.  Bear crawl forward didn’t cut it for me.  Reverse bear crawl up stairs however, is another story.  I have other ideas for the #stadium too.

Announcements

Joe Davis this weekend- 10k race warmups- 7:30am down by soccer fields at Baxter Y.  Alcatraz still open- mainly because @funhouse won’t run.

Prayers for homeless and those with out shelter during this cold spell.  We are a fortunate group.  At the time of writing this BB- @cakeboss has pre-blasted a hat and glove drive.  Check twitter and f3nation.com.

It was an honor- L&R

Operation Rapid Fire – Hats, Gloves and Hoodies

  • QIC: Cake Boss
  • When: 01/09/15 - 01/24/15
  • Pax: All PAX

PAX

Local Fort Mill Ministries, SON (Serving Our Neighbors) is requesting immediate donation for Hats, Gloves and Coats for adult Men and Women. These are for local homeless in our community and immediate area of Fort Mill.

http://www.fortmilltimes.com/2015/01/07/3959553_ministry-asks-for-gloves-coats.html?sp=/99/231/&rh=1

I am altering the request from Coats to Hoodies as it would be good to hit up Wal-Mart, Kmart, Sam’s or BJ’s for some inexpensive Hats, Gloves and Hoodies. If you have lightly used items, they work as well. No nasty stuff!!

Hoodies are diverse and keep bodies warm and I’d rather provide multi use items that don’t cost a ton in such a short request time. If you want to donate coats, by all means, bring em!!!

Here is the Mission:

  1. Pick up whatever you can, WInter Hats, Gloves and/or Hoodies (Coat)
  2. Bring to AO of choice ASAP
  3. Q’s or someone that can collect and filter up to Cake Boss
  4. Cake Boss to pickup & deliver for next 2 weeks daily if possible.

We will do this up until the Indianland Convergence 1/24!

Ideally we will collect enough in 2 weeks that will carry them over till next fall/winter.

Any Questions, reach out to Cake Boss!

Aye!

No Cardio Required

  • QIC: Opie
  • When: 01/07/15
  • Pax: 1-9ner, Crab Cakes, Destiny, Ringer, Sharknado, Heisman, Bounty Hunter
  • Posted In: Uncategorized

8 Brave men looking for #NoCardio came out to the newest workout put on by Indian Land or should I say The Fort so I don’t scare to many PAX away. Tried to bring a few more bodies last second by shooting a tweet out warning the dangers of a CSPAN workout but failed. His grip is to strong

The Thang:

Started out with a mosey to the Half tennis court where we bagman the pain (Only cardio of the day and that is just because it was better lighting over there so I could read my weinke)

Warmed up with a few Moroccan Night Clubs and Windmills and got at it

Shoulder to shoulder press was first on the list (Shoulder sand bag and move from one shoulder to the other fully extending arms over head)

Side lunges while sandbag is on your back

Bent over Rows (Back straight, pull sand bag to chest)

Rotational Snatch (Make sure to engage the core)

Over head press

High Pull (Engage the whole body including the calves)

Clean & Press

Shoveling (Engage core and swing sand bag from side to side rotating body)

Good Morning

Sand bag sit up

Rinse and repeat with a few more reps than the first time to make sure we couldn’t use our arms at all today

With a few min left we decided to try a few new moves to work on the core a little more but failed miserably in completing

made it back to COT with just enough time to find out where everyone was raised, announcements, and prayer

Mosey to Parking lot

Lunge half way flapjack and lunge backward to end of parking lot

backwards run to end of parking lot

SSH while we wait for the poor guy showing up for work early to make it inside

Mosey to the hill

partner up

While partner A runs to top of the hill and back Partner B is doing Squats

Then flapjack and Partner B runs and A does Squats

Followed by more running and Mercans and Lunges

Thought we had enough of the hill but we took one last trip up and back for good luck

Mosey to parking lot and prepare the sand bags

while pax are doing the wall sit one is moving preplaced sandbags up and down off the wall until they reach the 8th one and return to end of the line

Once everyone completed the sandbag wall we moseyed back to COT for a little more pain before sounds off

19 hard working men took on the dry gloom to lift things up and put them down at the #Armory.  Along the way they learned about what it takes to EXCEL – Encouragement, Xtra work (aka Xtra yard or Xtra mile), Commitment, Everyday, and Love. It’s hard to excel in anything without encouragement, doing xtra (more than what is required), commitment (keep going when things get tough), everyday (going through the grind daily to achieve success), love (difference between being good at something and excelling is to love what you are doing).

The Thang:

Warmup lap followed by:

SSH X 26 IC

Imperial Walker X 15 IC

Windmills X 15 IC

Mountain Climbers X 20 IC

Plank Jacks X 10 IC

Talk About Encouragement

Dips X 20 with weight in lap OYO

Step ups X 20 (10 each leg) with weight on chest OYO

F3 started in Fort Mill because #HIM were willing to travel and show us what F3 was all about, and that is why we wanted to go North Augusta and support their launch.

Bang!-0445 Destiny’s Black Suburban and The Black Passat speed our way to North Augusta with 10 Strong from The Fort to go catch up with our North Augusta brothers.

Conditions were overcast, light rain, 50 degrees, and an absolutely beautiful morning for a #downpainment to start 2015 off correctly.

CSPAN on Q

Disclaimer (needed it – read below) and discussion on keeping up, modify as needed, one FNG Ponzi.

Long fast sprint looping our way around the parking lot, felt like about 3/4 a mile – too fast, McGruff’s fitbit said I got 2.2 miles in during the workout #F3efficentQ.

COP

SSH, IW, Squats, Windmills, Moroccan Night Clubs, Monkey Humpers, an additional set of squats.

Long warmup Plank-o-Rama series. Photobomb got way too close to me while I was calling cadence, North Augusta guys seemed to really enjoy the planking…(not a crowd pleaser)

Off again for a ½ mile run.

Arkloader Series

Back and forth across parking lot with bear, lunge, crab, lunge, backwards bear, backwards lunge, lunge-lunge-squat, and jogs. (Evinrude, Noonan, Ponzi, Pontiff, and Pale Rider might have thought it was too many trips across)

Off again for a ½ mile run.

COP at Flag Pole

Pledge of Allegiance

Off again for a ½ mile run when Boehiem missteps off curb and “twisted” his ankle badly. I was going to attach the photos, but it is too close to lunch…picture an oversized grapefruit with toes…

Audible to 6 minutes of Mary while we address the causality of Boehiem (nothing broken, but very swollen and sore) refused help, and fought through the damaged ankle, and continued on through the workout.

Soccer field series

Jog to hill

Jacobs ladder= 7 burps on the bottom and 1 squat on the top.

Modified Michigan

5 running down and back

4 backwards down and backs

3 running down and back

2 lunges down and back (crowd pleaser)

Ran out of time…

Cake Boss on Q

20 Derkins and 20 Dips

COT

Prayer & Praise, BOM, and a good discussion on the #StarfishF3 model.

Moleskin:

Always an honor to be part of a launch, here is everything in my notes:

  • 2nd F is the glue, and North Augusta has a great group to build from already
  • AO is first class, need to come back so I can run you to the River
  • I still miss all the good restaurants in Augusta especially French Market, the Gary’s burger at 0830 was outstanding…really no fat pants?
  • #HIM = High Impact Man
  • #NoFatPants = Once you make the physical change of F3, burn the ship and those fat pants as there is no going back. A man who can’t get his 1st F on track will never get his 2nd and 3rd Fs online.
  • Read “Freed to Lead” here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/Freed-To-Lead-Unshackling-Modern-day-ebook/dp/B00JJQB2Z8
  • Come visit Indian Land on 1/24/15 with Dredd/OBT on Q here is the pre-blast: http://f3nation.com/2014/12/31/pre-blast-dreddobt-q-the-reservation/
  • Appreciate the Fort crew making the ride down, especially Destiny for driving the Black Suburban “school bus”.
  • Special thanks to Cake Boss, Sway, and Pale Rider in supporting my “crazy” adventures
  • Always make the 1st F too hard, the 2nd and 3rd F will come only with deliberate leadership, I made more friends in North Augusta in 2 hours than when I lived there for 3 years…AYE!

Appreciate the enthusiasm, and get your twitter account going, and follow me @CSPANF3

Sound off in the comments with grammer errors, missed exercises, and incorrect name postings #stillneedascribe

CSPAN – over & out

PRE-BLAST: Alcatraz Open on January 10

The Joe Davis Memorial Resolution Run is this Saturday, Jan 10.  If you can’t make the run, but  still want a Saturday F3 workout, Alcatraz will be open for business.  We start at 6:30 sharp.   For those CSAUP-minded individuals, you can do the workout AND the 10K/5K.  The 10K starts at 8am (skip the COT and have a brother pick up your race number) and the 5K at 9:15.

If you are too smoked after the workout to run, come out anyway for fellowship with your F3 brothers, or make a donation (link below).  Support a great cause and an F3 brother, Rock Thrill.

Get your 1st F in order

  • Pax: Hasselhoff, Package, Skinner, Mr. Clean, Santini, Flat Tire, Sugar Daddy, Crab Cakes, Seacrest, Car Bomb, WWL, Java, Tessla, Lil - E, Magnum, Acme, Beacon, McGuyver
  • Posted In: The Fort

My inspiration for this workout began last Saturday when CSPAN dropped some knowledge on the PAX at WEP while on Q!

…get your first F in alignment…you can’t get your 2nd and 3rd F together if your not accountable to the First F in your life….

To that I said…AYE!

Bottom line…get out of the fartsack and join your brothers!

So after a number of tweets and mumble chatter…19 PAX climbed out of the fartsack for a misty beatdown…

The Thang:
-Mosey to field
-50 SSH
-25 Windmill
-25 Squats
-15 Windmill
-15 Squats
-15 Merkins

-Mosey to brick wall where there is a covered walkway
-Wall sit – 2 – 10 counts
-Wall sit – 1 – 10 count

-Mosey to parking lot behind Springs

-Progressive partner workout:
-200 Merkins
-300 Squats
-400 LBCs

McGuyver on Q:

Mosey to park where the upper soccer field parking lot and running path meet.

Partner Drill Bits with a coupon:
-Grab a coupon
-Partner up
-10 squats with coupon then 10 overhead presses with a coupon
-Hand coupon to partner and they repeat above exercises
-Partner does squats while person with coupon completes exercises
-Run to next drill bit – Rinse and repeat

COT

Until I joined F3 I ran three miles at least four days a week. Nothing more and nothing less. I was in ok shape…no bad…not great…

I went to the gym, ran on the treadmill and watched a lot of TV to keep me focused.

Last fall I joined F3…Since then…
-Ran first and second 5K
-Ran BRR with a 12 man team
-Increased my running pace from close to a 10 min. mile to about 8.4 right now.
-I’m keeping up with the guys in the front of the pack
-Running the Palmetto 200 with a 9 man team in the spring
-Still get #smoked after every bootcamp

I am in the best shape I have ever been…

My first F is in alignment…because of The Fort Pax (#ISI). F3 men have inspired me to be a better Man. The accountability of the Pax get me out of the fartsack and into the gloom! To that I say….thank you to my F3 Brothers!
