Saturday morning was a perfect 60 degrees…was it the weather? Was it the 6am start time for Sasquatch to share his wisdom around proper stretching techniques? (Which was excellent by the way, make sure you post next time he shares this!) He also shared new dynamic warmup stretches and the proper technique of some of our favorite exercises. It certainly could not be for myself and Gears on the Q…but we had 27 PAX post for the extended Saturday morning stretch and beatdown.

I gave the disclaimer and we began.

The Thang

We used some of this morning’s lesson and started with some dynamic stretching. Knee to chest pull ups, ankle pull to chest.

Mosey around the outer loop of the ball parks.

Circle up in the outfield for COP

20 SSH 15 IWs 10 Windmills 10 Merkins 20 Seal Jacks 15 Squats

Mosey to parking lot count off by 10

There were ten cones in the area, each with an exercise to complete. We spent the next 20 minutes rotating around in our smaller groups. Everyone completed 2 rounds of 10 or more.

  1. 30 Paver Bent Rows

2.  20 Paver Curls

3.  15 Durkins

4.  10 Pullups

5. 20 Dips

6.  10 Bombjacks

7. 20 Merkins

8. 30 Morrocan Night Clubs

9. 10 Burpees

10. 10 Diamond Merkins

We circled up before I handed it over to Gears, I shared a little something on my mind.  I haven’t been out to Alcatraz for several weeks, mostly because I’ve been posting at the Dragon to help support F3 York.  It has been really refreshing to see the light go on for these new members of the PAX at the Dragon.  It’s easy to keep posting at your same locations but I challenged everyone to start EHing new PAX and getting them to post in new locations.  Then I shamelessly plugged the launch of “The Deep” on 4/9/2016 to start F3 Lake Wylie! BE THERE…

Gears took the lead, and mosey we did…to our favorite Tega Cay hill.

Next, Heartbreak 1-2-3.

Partner up, we were going to perfect the 3 exercises Sasquatch showed us the proper technique for.

First partner runs the hill while 2nd partner does the following, then switch while adding to your partners count.

100 Merkins

200 Big boy sit-ups

300 Squats

After what seemed like an hour, the PAX elbow planked until the 6 finished.

Mosey up that darn hill one last time to a good amount of mumble chatter. 5 minutes left (somehow) so we finished with a few ab exercises circled up in the baseball field.

Gears led us on Flutter Kicks – Heels to Heaven – back to Flutter Kicks

Announcements: Mudrun 4/30, F3 Dads Saturdays for Middle School 2.0s, Children’s Attention Home today, Charlotte Leadership Forum Tuesday with Santini.

Prayers for Families, Bing, Royale (YHC), Stang and all those unspoken prayers we all have…

Gears lead us out, thank you!

Moleskin:

What a great day to be out with 27 #HIM! It truly is an honor to be asked and able to lead, when one year ago I would have laughed at the thought! These are the men I know as the veterans of F3 through my last year posting. Many of these men where there the first day I posted.  I have learned so much about how to be a better father, husband and leader with this group.  And now we have to pay it forward. I’ve started posting in York over the last month, helping those men learn about what F3 is and why it is so much more than a workout.  Last week they started weekday workouts, and already three of the new PAX in York are picking up the torch, running AOs and leading workouts in less than a month!  I’ve gotten to know the men from Rock Hill who have led this expansion and helped launch this group.  We’ve helped explain the mission, purpose and priniciples of F3 to these men…and after one COT Chappie said to myself and Apache, “Thank you to you veterans of F3 for bringing this to York.” Veterans? That’s not me…those are men from Alcatraz!  But I am proud to be able to share this thing we call F3.  Make sure to join me with new FNGs on 4/9/2016 at the Lake Wylie launch of The Deep!

When YHC was thinking of starting a running group Sunday mornings, before going to Church, I was thinking me and my close knit group of #HIMS would post and be a steady core group.

Little did I know my core group of #HIMS would be so large.

I was so overwhelmed this morning with the turnout I that I forgot to record the COT  nameroma, which we do a little different in the hills-of-gloom #HOG  we do our praises and prayers and counting at the beginning of workout, because of different level of runners and milage pax prefer to run and will end at different times.

With a whopping 20 pax from all areas of the Fort region posting this morning and with time change making it a little easier to fartsack, they didn’t. They took the challenge of running of the hills of gloom

F1

Half the pax ran the trails 6 plus miles the other half ran the roads of riverwalk and down the bridge and back. With 4 to 6 plus miles

And special rucksack by my brother Rocktrill. An always welcome smile at the end.

F2

The Grapevine has turned in to a great gathering point for the past 3 weeks. And the brothership is to die for. It’s well worth the pain, sweat, snot, and spit you had been producing the past hour running the hills-of-gloom.

F3

Leaving the AO with the feeling of satisfaction of accomplishment and camaraderie of your brothers. Heading home to shower, wake the M and head to Church to praise SkyQ for keeping us healthy happy and humbled

10 years in the making

10 showed up for a rare High Life Q on an abnormally warm Friday morning for what ended up being a not so slow-burn. Q forgot his gloves and should have known better.

The Thang:

Run from CFA parking lot down to the Empire parking lot.

SSH x 30
Low slow squats x 20
Imperial Walkers x 20
Merkin x 15

Line up along the line outside Baxters Bunch (RIP).
-Walking lunge halfway, butt kickers to Empire. Karaoke back,
-Side shuffle halfway, then flip. Backwards run from Empire to Baxters Bunch (RIP)

Q then had everyone partner up with someone of a comparable size. YHC mentioned that his 10-year wedding anniversary is next Friday. Partner work today is in honor of the hard work and reliance you have to have with one another to make it work 10 years (and more).

First up…
1 – wheelbarrow from first line outside Baxters Bunch (RIP) to Empire and back. Switch as needed. In hindsight, not so slow burn.
2 – Partner carry to Empire and back. A little morce moderate but still not so slow burn.
3 – partner leg raises, x 10, straight up and down. Then, x 10 each side to work obliques.
4 – partner shoulder taps. 3 x 10
5 – partner squats – interlocking arms/back to back. Seen in a tweet Apache sent. Disaster. Modified.

Q then moved the group to the wall. Wife (and you) are there to be each other’s rock when times are tough.

Balls to the wall x 3
People’s Chair x 3

Ab call out
Run back to CFA. Joined by 5 runners.
Before COT – Q wanted to note one last item. Importance of humility; doing things that you don’t always want to do to make her happy and/or may be a little embarassing. Finish with 10 monkey humpers in the CFA parking lot.

I informed the group we would not be doing any exercises involving the infamous Red Balls. It would be worse..we were going shopping! The rest of the workout would be dictated by the name of the store we visited. Each letter represented an exercise. Like Wheel of Fortune, the vowels were at a cost, pain.

Well YHC was reminded by the one and only Chief Turkey Puncher, Apache that I was on the Q for Petra at 830pm. so behind the 8 ball I remembered that Petra was a #slowburn AO So what I put together on the fly was going to be slow and burn quite a bit. 15 PAX showed up in the gloom

THE THANG:

WARM UP –

  • STRETCH those old bones and muscles – CSPAN would be proud
  • WM (IC) X15
  • SSH (IC) X15
  • MNC (IC) X15
  • CDD (IC) X15
  • SEAL JACKS (IC) X15
  • STRETCH a little more
  • PLANK for 30 secs.
  • HONEY MOON from the Plank to yes again stretch the back out.

MOSEY – One full lap around the parking lot

LET A BEAR BE A BEAR!

Bear Crawl Merkins – Up hill the parking lot bear crawl to each parking spot line then do one merkin. Turn around and Bear Crawl Merkin back.

This looked really good on paper but the slow burn really burned and produced some mumble chatter.

ZOMBIE RUN –

  • 2 rounds – Zombie Run is like an Indian Run but you lunge walk while the 6 runs to the front of the line. Good old mumble chatter and groans with this one. SLOOOOW BURN.

LET A BEAR BE A BEAR again –

  • Bear Crawl Merkins – This time 5 rows – up and back

We did a set of high knees & butt kickers to the cross walks of the parking lot

Another full Mosey around the Parking Lot

LET A BEAR BE A BEAR again –

  • Bear Crawl Merkins AGAIN this time 10  rows up and back.

However, I did stop to explain a little bit about the lines.  Marcus Latrell the Navy SEAL and Lone Survivor how when he was under fire in the mountain side of Afghanistan – he took a rock and drew a line in the sand, and said he would drag himself until his feet crossed the line. When they did, he did it again.  All with his back broken and shot. for 8 to 12 hours.

So YHC told the PAX when they have that point in their day, especially after lunch on a Friday where they want to phone it in for the day, picture Latrell and draw your “line in the sand” and just get to that point and do it all over again.  — 60 count over —

After the Bear Crawls we became Zombies once more

  • Zombie “Ran” for another round.

Mosey back to the front of the Bingo Hall to circle up for a round of

  • 5 Captain Thors – (Jack Web for abs)
  • Next Dealers choice for Ab lab to the end.

Thanks to the PAX for allowing me to lead them today even though I was not fully prepared. I hope I didn’t disappoint.

Jude

  • QIC: Deacon
  • When: 3/11/16
  • Posted In: The Fort

16 Pax met on this glorious spring morning to study Jude. Italian Job crossed the Catawba river to attend today’s session. God asked Stang to pray for Anchorman during our study for reasons that exceed our level of understanding. God called him to bless our brother. Stang’s response was an honorable demonstration of his obedience to our Father. #Goosebumps…

Here are takeaways from today’s discussion.

—————————————————————————————————————————–

Jude 3 ~ I had been eagerly planning to write to you about the salvation we all share. But now I find that I must write about something else, urging you to defend the faith that God has entrusted once for all time to his holy people.

Takeaways:

  • Learn the bible so that you’re able to discern whether what others say is founded in truth.
  • Establish a personal relationship with Christ through prayer and serving others.
  • Do you defend the word of God when someone twists the gospel for their personal benefit?

—————————————————————————————————————————–

Jude 16 ~ These people are grumblers and complainers, living only to satisfy their desires. They brag loudly about themselves, and they flatter others to get what they want.

Takeaways

  • The act of complaining shows that we don’t appreciate God’s plan for us.
  • What would you do if a person always complained after you gave them something? You’d stop giving them things which is why we should not test God with complaints.
  • If you complain, you remain.

—————————————————————————————————————————–

Jude 23 – Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives.

Takeaways:

  • Sinners who are lost don’t know it so don’t judge them.
  • Your Godly actions/reactions will be observed and hopefully adopted by lost sinners.
  • Hate their sins but love the sinners.

—————————————————————————————————————————–

Moleskin:

The Gospel is ours to defend so be on guard. Replace complaints with thanksgiving. The best gift that you can give to a sinner is the presence of God’s love. We are blessed by God’s grace and mercy so pay it forward.

Nice to have an intimate group — it worked great for the sprints and the message.  Plenty of push among all of the pax.  Nice job persevering through a high heart rate session!

Message on leadership was about the other half — the follower(s).  And, not the Facebook, Twitter variety.  For me, the simplest and truest definition of a leader has always been someone who has followers.  And that is not always the person at  the top.  Putting aside the books and philosophies as well as the bluster and grandstanding, a leader is someone who others actively choose to follow on a journey to take them somewhere.  Leadership success is dependent on a relationship of trust between leader and follower.  It is a two-way street.  So, who are you following?  Are you giving the leader the support, the respect and the effort that he/she deserves?  If you are leading, are you respecting and listening to the followers?

Thanks to Geronimo for the invite to Q — always an honor.  He promises a remodeled Shovel Flag next week — don’t miss it.

20 of Fort Mill’s strongest pax put aside all anxious thoughts and imagination and decided to channel that energy we usually spend worrying about work, kids, marriage, aging parents, presidential candidates, saving for college, development of Fort Mill’s surrounding area, Syria, traffic on I-77, the culture of mediocrity that grips our great nation, (FILL IN THE BLANK OF WHAT IS BOTHERING YOU), etc.  into this workout that is right in front of us.  For we need to have #3rdF that the Sky Q will care for us today and everyday and He will either shield us from suffering or give us unfailing strength to bear it (St. Francis De Sales reminded us of that).  So we went to attack it (minus Old Bay who opted for #F3RunningClub).

The Thang:

Rinse and repeat

Rinse and repeat again

Fantastic job by all the Pax killing a tough workout.  It was great to see The Yard in all its glory – great AO with tough as nails Pax members.

Remember that Sasquatch has a great injury prevention session planned for 0600 at Alcatraz this Saturday (March 12th).  If you haven’t listened to him share his knowledge – please do so.  He IS a professional.

Good luck to all the P200 Pax training for next weekend.  Godspeed and soak up the #2ndF.

Closed out with The Prayer of St. Francis De Sales asking us to –  Be At Peace.  Google it.  (us Catholics like to write down our prayers)

ALWAYS an honor to lead such an amazing group of men.  Aye!

Perfect Morning at Pantheon, 60 degrees clear and perfect

Men gathered and watched Rock Thrill navigate a pitch black parking area, lots #chatter about my twitter posts in Latin…I at least got you talking…and no, it was not my spoken language in High School, but I did take Latin in High School…Alter boy advantage…

Disclaimer witnessed by Legal Counsel

Second Disclaimer about that I planned to NOT do an extremely difficult workout today, we have a bunch of guys with big miles for P200, we have several men “dinged” up, and I still want to show that you can get quality 1stF without having to put in 5 miles. So I gave the “this should be the easiest post of your week” speech…

And we did a long looping bus loop dynamic warmup (thank Sasquatch for the advice and injury prevention) and we continued the #chatter throughout…little bit extra because my legs were “heavy”…#yourwelcome…

Mosey to basketball courts…I had a quote and did not use it…

“I’ve always believed in quickness over strength and size.” — Dean Smith

COP with all of my favorites in cadence to ten

Line up the across the short/long side of the basketball court with our toes on line

So we started a series of suicides and dynamic basketball drills and boot camp exercises for 30 minutes…I felt strong, and I got a good sweat on, obviously several fast men in our group, fast races, no ten counts, and some quality short sprints amongst our group. Nobody looked natural in the shooting drills with no basketball…

3 minutes of running back to COT & BOM

NMM

Zima – as always I appreciate the offer to attempt to hang (and Q) with the friendly fellows from Tega Cay.

Lots of fun this morning, and good efforts all around

Ahhhh……The Ranch!! Home away from Home for YHC. I started The Ranch back in 2013/14 and it is still one of the top AOs in all the area. However what makes a great AO is the PAX that attends there and The Ranch always has Class A PAX in attendance. McGruff and now Spiderman run the horses out at The Ranch and it is as strong as ever. Nice work men…..keep EHing and filling those fields up!!

20 PAX arrived today at The Ranch. We started with the National Anthem at 5am and then traditional country music playing as I always like at The Ranch. Can’t be there without it. 0515 hit and no declaimers, disclosures….we just took off for a mosey.

The Thang:

Mosey across to field for COP

SSHs, squats, merkins, IWs, 10 Extreme Mtn Climbers, 10 Inchworm Merkins, 10 sealjacks, 10 I surrenders

Mosey to Drive for 3 speedbump suicide

Mosey to car dropoff lans for some calf raises and repeat of 10 Extreme Mtn Climbers, 10 Inchworm Merkins, 10 sealjacks, 10 I surrenders

Mosey around school for wall sits, BTW and more wall sits

Mosey to side of school for repeat of 10 Extreme Mtn Climbers, 10 Inchworm Merkins, 10 sealjacks, 10 I surrenders

THE MEAT – I told the PAX that it is the MEAT of the workout that gets the leg to POP!!!

Mosey to hill by MIddle School

Exercise at bottom of the hill and work the ladder up and do all 12 exercises, adding a new one each time up and down the hill……fun times!!!

Ladder:

1-Merkins———run up hill

2-Bombjacks———run down hill

3-Russian twists———run up hill

4-Freddy Mercs———run down hill

5-Burpees———run up hill

6-Squats———run down hill

7-LBCs———run up hill

8-plank jacks———run down hill

9-diamond Merkins———run up hill

10-donkey kicks———run down hill

11-lunges———run up hill

12-monkey humpers———COT

The back blast does not do this justice so you will have to ask the PAX if they got a full body workout and how those chicken legs feel!

Moleskin:

I talked to the PAX about living by faith versus taking things for granted or relying on our own abilities. I mentioned we all live by faith in some respect…..people want to think its only a God thing, however you are living by faith each time you drive your car that you won’t wreck or when you go to work that you will continue to have a job when you get there. I mentioned I drop my son off at school each day and say I love you and as I drive away I am living by faith that my one and only son will be ok at that school. Nothing is going to happen. However, I am living by faith that if that day comes I know my strength comes for God and I will need every ounce of it to deal with circumstances. I challenged the PAX to not take things for granted, don’t assume it can’t happen to you. Say the I love you and communicate to those you need to and most of all, live by faith that Sky Q has your back no matter what mountain and storm is in front of you. We can’t do it alone…..he is always in the fight with us!

Great PAX today and good old fashion F3 snot waggler!!!

Humbled and Honored!!
