The Fort raids Winnsboro

  • QIC: CSPAN & Chaser (The Fort)
  • When: 06/13/15
  • Pax: Doobie, Candy Striper, Recall (FNG Mr. Tims), Rabbit Sheriff, Squirts, Low Rent, Baitcan, Inky, Kayak (FNG Mr. Hunter), Gunsmoke, Tatanka, & Apache
  • Posted In: Uncategorized

So, time had come for the boys from the Fort to take the lead in the exploding Winnsboro Expansion. After having a strong presence (albeit completely unrecognized in local media…)at the initial launch, this was our first return trip to lead the way in bringing the pain. After a trip full of harassment at the hands of Apache and Tatanka for the timing of this Q corresponding perfectly with my beach trip (thank you F3 Uber), YHC (Chaser) was ready to get down to it.

Soon, the parking lot filled up and it was time for the fun. CSPAN began with a very nice warm-up including his patented all-too-long plank series and then spoke about the importance of F3 and the growth and fellowship that stems from the 1st F. YHC was up next and in keeping with my MO, this would be an active rest beatdown. At any point, if you are waiting for the 6, you are going SSH, mountain climbers or LBCs. Here’s how it worked out:

Here’s the THANG:
1) 5 Burpees OYO;
2) Mosey to baseball field – 15 Mahktar Ninjis, 15 Mahktar KNEEjis;
3) Mosey to the Baptist Church (stealth mode) – Clockwork Orange (2 hours), 20 squats;
4) Mosey to 1st Methodist – Lunge Walk up parking hill;
5) Mosey to Courthouse steps with a quick stop at one of the many American flags in Winnsboro for a CSPAN led Pledge of Allegiance…continue the mosey and then here comes the fun:

STEPS WORK:

These beautiful rounded steps served as the playing field for the following (10 minutes straight – no stops):

1) First 4 minutes AMRAP – take a lap, 10 merkins, 10 diamond merkins, 10 wide-arm merkins (“Mucho Chesto”)

2) 2 Minutes AMRAP – take a lap, 20 Squats

3) 2 Minutes AMRAP – take a lap, 20 dips

4) 2 minutes AMRAP – Repeat Mucho Chest series.

Good mumble (albeit pretty breathless) chatter at this point and the Pax encouraging each other to push through it. There was a glorious sweat line up and down the steps by the end.

Heading Back:

1) Mosey to another church (don’t know the name) – sidewinder up and down the steps, 2x reverse bearcrawl up the steps;

2) Mosey back to 1st Methodist – 20 Mahktar Ninjis, 20 Mahktar Kneejis;

3) Mosey up the big hill – at the top, SSH until we bring the 6 home (strong effort at this point by FNG-Recall to keep the Merlot contained);

4) Mosey back to baseball field with a full Pax circle around to pick up the 6 – 10 burpees OYO;

5) Mosey back to the Winnsboro Grinder for some ab work and a good stretching plank series.

COT led by CSPAN with prayers and praises lifted up and announcements made. Great BOM and a buncha spent Pax.

Truly an honor to share the Q once again with CSPAN and to help lead these Winnsboro guys. The way this thing has taken off here is proof of the fact that F3 was desperately needed in this town. Every single man that comes out will be better, his family will be better, his faith will be better and Winnsboro will be better for these men. Great work and CSPAN and I are always open to an invite back to do it again. Thank you for the honor.

231 Merkins, 231 LBCs, 176 Burpess, 176 Jumps, and 4 miles

  • QIC: Italian Job, Padre
  • Pax: Peach, Walker, Bandit, Winchester, Popeye, AquaLung, Utah, Lock Pick, Twister, Geppetto, Padre, Italian Job
  • Posted In: Alcatraz, The Fort, The Reservation

This morning would have been a good morning to fartsack. But those 11 men that joined YHC and Padre got stronger, faster, and better. It was worth the beating.

The Thang

  • SSH
  • Morroccan Night Clubs
  • Windmills
  • Low Slow Squat

Mosey to the wall for

  • People’s Chair (all Pax took turns counting to 10 – no rest, no break)

Mosey to the courtyard

  • 25 step ups each leg
  • 25 dips

Mosey to the football field

  • Blackjack – this one is new for the Patriot. It’s similar to 11s, but longer and more difficult:
  • 20 Merkins, run to the other sideline for 1 LBC
  • 19 Merkins, run to the other sideline for 2 LBCs
  • All the way down to 1 Merkin and 20 LBCs
  • 231 of each

Prior to handoff, YHC encouraged each man to continue posting. Your presence at these workouts keeps me coming back. We are accountable to our brothers and it’s our responsibility to show up even when it gets tough.

Hand off to Padre

  • After a quick 10 count, Padre introduced us to a new Burpee ladder exercise:
  • 10 knee tuck jumps—10 side Burpees
  • 9 same—9 double thrust burped
  • 8 same—8 1 armed burpees 4 right 4 left
  • 7 same— 7 4 right leg only/ 3 left leg burpees
  • 6 same— 6 burpee
  • 5 same —- same 5
  • Until 1
  • 136 of each

Padre shared some words found in Proverbs 12 about discipline. We are to love discipline. F3 is about pushing ourselves to be better. The only way to get better is be disciplined in our workouts, work, family, and relationships.

Mosey to picnic table

  • 2-3 rounds of 10 10/ 5 5
  • 10 burpee jumps on to bench or table followed by a 10 sec rest
  • 5 burpee jumps and 5 sec rest

All You Got Mosey to COT

Naked Moleskin

This workout took the feel of a Monday Old Town beating. Each man pushed past the humidity, sweat, heat, and pain to finish as a unit. These men are disciplined in their approach to their workouts. Twister said it best, “I may not always finish first, but I always finish.” Any one of the Pax could have mailed it in and quit when the sweat starting pouring in our eyes. None of us would have known if you skipped the 147th merkin or 90th burpee. But you didn’t. You continued for you and for your F3 brother struggling right next to you. Good work men. I’m proud, as always, to sweat right beside you.

Big shout out to Geppetto for putting in 4 miles prior to our 4 mile workout today. The man is a BEAST! Great job Walker finishing first in Black Jack. Awesome work Utah, Bandit, and Winchester for being right there on his heels. Twister and Peach, you guys have no quit in you and it encourages the rest of the Pax. Thanks for the work you continue to put in. Lock Pick continues to show up and get faster and stronger. He’s the quiet guy that one day runs behind you and 3 weeks later leaves you in the dust. Aqua Lung and Popeye, your endurance has greatly improved. Good work pushing yourselves each week. And finally, you guys may not have noticed, but Padre went for an extra round of Burpee jumps when everyone finished. Not only that, but he went from jumping on the benches to jumping on the table. Mad hops from the man of the Lord. Great job!

$86,400 a day and $3,600 of it spent at The Reservation doing OCR

  • QIC: Longshanks
  • When: 06/13/2015
  • Pax: Bounty Hunter, Ringer, One-niner, Spitz, Lugnut, Airborne, Jaywalk (FNG), Longshanks
  • Posted In: The Reservation

8 of The Fort’s finest (fittest/funniest) descended upon The Reservation despite the warning of monkey bars, walls, bucket carries, and burpees.  You know, all the essential things of a great obstacle course race.  Since an FNG was present (Airborne’s 2.0) a little more thorough disclaimer was given.  And off we go…

The Thang

Lap around the front parking lot, then mosey over to the bus lot for warm-up.  SSH x 20 IC, Merkins X10 IC, Windmills x 20 IC, 5 burpees OYO, Squats x 10 IC, Imperial Walkers x 20 IC, Plank jacks x 10 IC, Mountain Climbers x 20 IC, Plank hold at 6 inches for 10-count.

Mosey over to the playground for some upper body OCR on the money bars.  Go through the money bars normally, run a lap around playground, next time through the bars, go side ways using the side of the monkey bars, run a lap, third time through go forward but using the side of the monkey bars, run another lap. Plank it and wait for the six.  Then cycle through 10 dips, 10 muscle ups, 10 pullups, 10 CDD, and run a lap.  Rinse and repeat but in reverse order, run a lap.

Mosey/bear crawl/mosey/crab walk/mosey to the big wall on the back side of the school.  Once arriving at the wall assume the people’s chair position.  While sitting, I talked about what would you do if you were given $86,400 a day each day for the rest of your life, but you couldn’t take any balance with you and it started back the next day again after being wiped out at midnight.  We get 86,400 a day, but it’s not money.  It’s seconds.  How are you investing your time?  Are you wasting it or using it for good causes. Are you investing it in others or being selfish and using it all on yourself?  After sitting on the wall pondering this question it was time to get over the wall.  Many needed help getting over the wall.  Once over the wall we headed back down the wall and assumed the people’s chair again.  This time 10 shoulder presses IC then recover.

Mosey back to the front of the school.  Time to go over the smaller walls, but before each wall 2 burpees must be completed (its IL, have to do some burpees).  Once over all 6-7 walls, traverse the wall in front of the school (the long one).  Rinse and repeat without the 2nd traverse.

Mosey over to the baseball fields hill and the bucket is noticed.  Filled with 66 pounds of weights.  I person carries the bucket up the hill and back down, while the other cycle through 5 merkins, 10 squats, 15 LBC, 20 SSH.  Each person carries the bucket up twice.  Once everyone has gone twice, each person grabs one thing from the bucket to take back.  Mosey up to the main parking lot for some dealers choice.  Some of the items include Inchworm, plyo merkins, merkins, dying cockroach, flutter kicks, and more.

COT, BOM

Announcments – read your weekly email, Hog and Coyote next Saturday (Possibility that Reservation will be closed that day)

Prayers – teething babies, Member of OPES staff that passed away Thursday

Moleskin – First off I want to thank One-niner and Pebbles for the chance to come over and Q the Reservation.  I know for that to happen, they respect what you are capable of bringing to one of their workouts.  Also welcome to FNG Jaywalk, 2.0 of Airborne.  Loved the mumblechatter from the start as soon as One-niner arrived.  Can show for this, but not his own Q.  You know we love you One-niner, but we love giving you a hard time even more.  Best F3 couple in The Fort have to be Spitz and Lugnut.  These 2 are never seen at an AO without the other and they bicker and mumblechatter with each other like and old married couple.  Always amusing when these 2 are at your Q.

And with what I said earlier about having 86,400 seconds a day.  3,600 of it was spent working hard over an hour with these special men.  Continue to invest your time in men in this group and the men that need to be in this group.  #DRP # ISI #HIM

World Wide is welcomed to the group as he randomly arises from the Swamp-PS Old Navy Parking lot- Count off to 5 groups-1 group at each corner-Group 5 does 10 burpees and runs to 1st corner…they tag the group at that corner who runs to the next until every group has done all 4 corners and done 10 burpees.-(less confusing then it sounds-except for Cable Guy)

Exercises: Corner 1-Alternating Lunges 2-Wide Arm Merkins, 3-Monkey Humpers 4-CDD

Move groups 10 ft closer- Do 10 burpees at every station- bear crawl from station 2-3 and 4-1.  Run from station 1-2 and 3-4.

Exerciser: Corner 1:Mountain Climbers 2-Diamond Merkins 3- Squat 4- Dips

Mosey to COT-wait- 20 burpees OYO

Not to the four lost men. During COT I recorded names thus not focusing on remembering them.  I then had equipment malfunction or possibly user error and lost the names.  I recalled all but 4.  For the 4 men omitted from the list I apologize.  Just know that being there is the most important thing and you survived the beat down.  Its not about the recognition but the results.

Moleskin:

We are called to lead as high impact men. When taking on a leadership role, we often encounter some form of opposition. This is mainly because the evil one wants to be the only leader on this  planet. He opposes us by casting doubt, confusion and by the probing others to resist our leadership.  Once we push through the opposition, he tricks us into thinking that we’re successful because of our own will. Remember that God is not the author of confusion. God wants us to build His kingdom and lead courageously.

After Q’ing PHOP yesterday, I wasn’t sure what today would hold. Somehow I forgot how to count, and the PAX were happy to point that out. I think I got em back in line with the BLIMPs. Apache was in rare form today. I can’t wait until his first Q. Great to have so many men from other AO’s there. I’d echo Tatonka and encourage the Patriot PAX to tour some of the other great AO’s in our region.

Pantheon, A Burpee Friendly AO

  • QIC: Zima

  • Posted In: Uncategorized

Tega Cay Elementary has been the site of several Black Diamonds and a Field Trip or two from the Golden Corral. So it was fitting that we installed it as an official AO today. As I rolled in there were some eager PAX waiting to get at it. Gears took a stroll from his house and mentioned he took the front route because he thought the stairs in back of the school might be too dark and dangerous. A quick mosey by YHC confirmed this to be true and the weinke was modified, but not much. No FNGs, brief disclaimer, and since Cerrano would be celebrating his birthday, I wanted to wish him a Happy Burpday. Thus began an intense and grueling…

Thang:

Right off the bat, 10 Burpees OYO

Mosey around the front of the school to the back parking lot. Circle up for some COP.

COP
10 Burpees OYO
27 SSH
10 Burpees OYO
20 IW
10 Burpees OYO
15 Merkins
10 Burpees OYO

Mosey to the bottom of the Stairs back service road. Here we began a Bent Jacob since we wouldn’t be using the stairs. 7 Bomb Jacks at Start, run the length of the back (50-75 yds) and do 1 Burpee at the other end. Run back and do 6 Bomb Jacks, Run back for 2 Burpees and so on. Not a lot of mumble chatter. PAX was focused on getting the work done.

Once completed, mosey to the front of the school for a DORA 1-2-3 combo. Forgot how much I love/hate these until Smuggler re-introduced me last Saturday at Alcatraz. PAX partnered up and proceeded to have one partner do the following while the other ran to the school awning and back (50-75yds). Flip Flop and continue counting the exercise until you reach the 1-2-3 goal. Goals were 100 Dips, 200 Flutter Kicks and 300 Lunges.

Once we put DORA to bed, we moseyed to the wall for a little bit.

BTTW for 3-10 Counts

Peoples Chair with alternating air presses and arm flutters while PAX did 5 burpees from each end meeting in the middle

BTTW for 2-10 Counts

With about 1 minute left we moseyed to the driveway and finished off with 20 Burpees OYO (Crowd Pleaser by Far).

COT & BOM

Announcements: H&G on 06/20, Dark Helmet is ordering shirts (DM him if interested), F3 Dads (check the pre-blast/newsletter), BRR Training: Try to post for RNG Wed Night and BRR Thurs morning to start stacking runs.

Prayers: Prayers for Royale’s co-worker who just had a baby and there are developmental complications with the child.

Praises: Gears praising 2 week vacation with his wife. Recommends a date every 2 weeks, a weekend getaway every 2 months and a special vacation every 2 years. Your wives are the most special people in your lives. Let them know it. Aye!

NMM

Thanks to Gears for the PSA. Don’t want any PAX getting injured. I’ll find a lighting solution for the stairs or require headlamps (hazardous for YHC: see #TheCoop) when working in the back. Note to self, calling out cadence is quite difficult when stacking Burpees for COP. I could barely catch my breath on the Merkin set. Great work by the PAX this morning. Mumble chatter was light but everyone was in good spirits. Tclaps to Dark Helmet for catching on to the morning’s theme. Thanks to Funhouse for AbLab while waiting for 6 and convincing me to not modify the 300 lunge set on the 1-2-3 (If it’s on the weinke you do it). This AO has a lot to offer. I am looking forward to seeing what other Qs bring to it (Now Hiring). If you live in or near Tega Cay, this should definitely be in your weekly rotation. Pantheon is home to the Titans (School’s mascot). Always an honor. Oh, final Burpee count was 103 and 2.5 Miles. Aye!

We gave the FNG a hearty welcome, advised him that if he hurt himself it was no fault but his own, and then off we went around the park.  Here is how the rest of the morning went:

I have not been to Block Party in well over a year and it was great to be back and Q a workout.    Seeing my buddy Flacco this morning was icing on the cake.   I had heard rumors of his return and it was good to see that they were true.   I hope you enjoyed the beat down,  my  friend.    Good to see Rock Thrill too who I run into all over town (S. Charlotte,  Indianland, Ft. Mill, Metro)

MacGuyver  made quick work of the playground loops by keeping a swift pace on every rep.  Well done, brother.   Welcome FNG, Patent – we were happy to wait for you, but now you owe us and have to come back.

Had a blast as usual today and it’s always a privilege to lead such a fine group.  I love F3.
