Another fine day at the Swamp. Hot and humid, but the PAX started gathering and stretching before 5:15am. We took a count of the ruckers splitting away from our bootcamp group. Looked like 12 coming with me and 3 ruckers moving out with Cornhole. Zima and Cornhole stole Router from us and EH’d him into that terrible rucking thing! (Kidding, I just bought an expensive backpack to join them) Quick fumble in the disclaimer and we’re off!

We start our warm-up lap and like many weeks Vinny peels into the parking lot on two wheels, slams it into park, and sprints to catch up with us. I’m glad I cut our route to double back and pick him up. We moseyed over to the jewelry store where we have a nice background music playing for our warm-up.

COP
15 IWs 30 MNCs 25 SSHs 10 Merkins
20 Mtn Climbers 15 Peter Parkers 12 Windmills

Quick mosey over to the Big Red Balls at Target ( I never miss a chance to use these!)
This Week I’ve learned a few new moves from our PAX (thanks Orvis and Witch Hunt) and thought putting them together would make for a terrible time…from the mumblechatter it seems I was right!

At each Red Ball –> 10 V-Up Twists (Witch Hunt)
description = lie prone on your back arms above your head – legs come in while your torso comes up – then switch to American Hammer = 1 rep
Between each Ball –> Lt Dangers (Orvis)
description = Walking Lunge – then squat – then down for 1 ranger merkin

This took a while, and was miserable…which means we had a lot of fun!

For my ten count I wanted to talk about Leadership & Community:
I spoke to the 12 PAX about taking their shot at the front of this group. We’ve mentioned it a lot recently, and several guys have had there VQ…but we still have more! F3 helps give you the chance to lead, which may not be what your accustomed to…which is all the more reason to do it! I discussed what your concentrica looks like, and that we need to find those things in our community that we can help make better. The F3nation is not going to give us those ideas, we have to bring them to our group! I mentioned supporting our PAX members that are riding in the 24 hours of Booty this weekend, or the Children’s Attention Home that NASA and other PAX have worked so hard with. We need to have more of that 3rd F!

Enough of my mouth…time to mosey

Made it to the fountain
Pair up
1 PAX would complete the below exercises while the other ran the half loop around the round-about.
Step Ups
Calf Raises
Derkins
LBCs

Quick 10 count from Mainframe time to head back to COT

We made it there 3 minutes early SO…
15 Dying Cockroaches
15 Hello Dollys
20 Freddie Mercuries

Announcements

We couldn’t make the 3rd F Convergence on time, so 5 PAX stuck around for coffee at Chick-fil-a. Great way to start our Friday men!

Block Party Beast Mode – ChaChing VQ (better late than never)

  • QIC: ChaChing
  • When: 07/12/16
  • Pax: Java, Deacon, MacGyver, Hotline, Repeat, Double D, Man o' War, one other who left before COT
  • Posted In: Block Party

Repeat hooked it up and ran us through a quick stretch.  From there we rolled through 3 circuits:

#1 – First stop, the playground in the center of Walter Elisha.  Partnered up & ran through 4 rounds of the following:

  • Partner pull-up resist – 10 pull-ups where you hold at the top and your partner pulls you down.  He’s your best friend one minute as the assisted pull-up comes into play after about 3 reps, but then your worst enemy as you hold at the top and he tears you down.
  • Explosive merkin w/ clap at the top as your partner runs the perimeter then switch

#2 – Every minute on the minute (EMOM) across the street in the parking lot:  8 burps, 10 single leg mtn climbers each leg, 8 burps, 30 LBCs, 10 burps, 30 squats, 8 burps, 30 LBCs, 8 burps, 10 single leg mtn climbers each leg

#3 – Next parking lot over:  merkin/diamond tri pyramid set (10 merkin, 9 diamond tri, 8 merk, 7 diamond, you get the point, down to 1), broad jump down the parking lot, Freddie Mercury slow 10/fast 10/slow 10/fast 10, bear crawl back and end w/ the same pyramid set.

CTO, Java then nailed an awesome prayer to close us out (requests included my buddy’s fight w/ stage 4 colon cancer and Deacon’s friend fighting alcoholism).  Appreciate you Repeat for giving me a shot at leading the group.  Until next time.

– ChaChing

Quest for 300 At The Maze 7/27/2016

When I reached out to Site Q (Real Tree) about who was Qing the Maze he responded “You want it?” Since I am not one to turn down an opportunity to lead, especially at the Maze (Great AO with endless possibility), I jumped at the chance. Plus there has been something I have wanted to try and the York/Clover HIMS were the perfect crew to test it on.

Spent the night, refining the Wienke and testing out the new exercises in the living room, much to the chagrin of my M. She kept saying, “You really are nuts!!”, but anything for the Pax. Finally got the wienke done and materials ready, so it was time to hit the fartsack for tomorrow we do battle.

Got there early or so I thought, only to find Mr. Rogers and Nunchuck already in the parking lot. Once all the Pax finally arrived we had 17 brave souls ready to defend the wall on the Quest for 300.

Quick disclaimer and we were off. Mosey to the back of the middle school on the other side of the tennis courts including some high knees, butt kickers and karoake. Once there we circled up for 30X SSHs and 20X Morracan NCs, just to get the blood flowing.

The Thang

Quest for 300

The goal was to complete all 300 exercises before we had to leave for COT.

After each exercise below, the Pax were to perform 2 laps around the circle:

  • 40 Seated Knee Tucks
  • 20 1-Arm Inverted Chin-Ups (10 per arm)
  • 40 Assisted Singe-Arm Merkins (20 per arm)
  • 40 Single Leg Heel Touch Squats (20 per leg)
  • 40 Skier Single Leg Burpees (20 per leg)
  • 40 Mountain Mules
  • 20 Ninja Box Jumps
  • 40 V-Up Twists
  • 20 Wall Plank Cross Knee Plank (R/L =1)

Expectedly, the Pax accepted the challenge with fire and fight and gave it all they had.

With two minutes left it was time to head back to COT so we got moseying. (T-Claps to Gauge for the push back to COT.)

I finished up with a quick word on doing the impossible and facing the challenges of life. Watching the Pax not only push themselves, but work together to get each other through today’s workout was amazing. Even in the darkest of days or the most challenging of times, we can accomplish the impossible as long as we surround ourselves with great people and carry the torch for HOPE.

Moleskin

“The tragedy of life is often not in our failure, but rather in our complacency; not in our doing too much, but rather in our doing too little; not in our living above our ability, but rather in our living below our capacities.”

One of my personal struggles is that I am always looking for what’s next or to push harder or for where the next challenge will come from. In the right circumstances this is a blessing, however there are times where I have allowed this to lead me down the wrong path.

Fortunate for me I have found F3 which has been an amazing outlet for this. Being surrounded by like-minded men that are constantly pushing and challenging me and are always willing to accept the next new challenge. It has allowed me to direct this energy that I have in a positive direction and not allow it to lead me astray.

I just wanted to thank the Pax for allowing me this outlet.  And creating an environment that encourages innovation and supports you through failure, all the while having a willingness and enthusiasm to take on any challenge, even if it seems completely stupid and utterly pointless

Moseyed back to the COT and made it just in time!

I spoke of me having high cholesterol for the last several years and in February this year after my physical my doctor wanting to put on medication. However I opted out and he recommended that I go on a diet and exercise 45 minutes a day. In April While attending a Seminar in Asheville I was eating Lunch with a #HIM ( which I didn’t even know what that was then) and he told me about F3. After lunch went back to my room and goggled it and called my brother in law (Honeypot) and told him about it. Didn’t think much more of and on June 1st Honeypot called me and told me he went to a workout. I asked what he thought and he said ” don’t do it, it hurts – but im going in the morning you want to go?”. Coincidence that my doctor tells me to work out 45 minutes a day and a short time later I cross paths with someone doing F3? I think not! The Lord is always working in our life’s and we have to trust that he will lead us down the right paths!

Popeye Spoke on the difficulties of praying family members and we all agreed that is easier to pray for them than over them – however we need to get over the awkwardness and do it!

Prayer  Requests

  • Pray for Popeye’s Mom
  • Pray for Fusion’s New Born Baby
  • Grasshopper wanted us to pray that we all have a great day

Seven for a Tour of Guns-n-Moses

  • QIC: Catfish
  • When: 07/25/2016
  • Pax: Rhinestone, High Pockets, Dry Dock, Redwood, Cedar, Joe Dirt
  • Posted In: Uncategorized

YHC arrived to an empty parking lot at 0500, explored the church campus, set out a few cones and returned to see Rhinestone and Joe dirt hanging out in the parking lot. Everyone must have been recovering from the weekends cause the mumblechatter was light!

Time, as she does, slipped by and it was 0515 before YHC realized it! So a brief disclaimer (we’ve all heard it before anyways) and off we went on a slow mosey to the fire pit. We warmed up with 10 IC of SSH, Merkins, Windmills, imperial walkers, hillbilly walkers and dips.

A slow mosey down the path past the graveyard took us to the field where the cones were laid out. The PAX lined up and it went something like this:

1 merkin – lt. dan ~15 yards to the next cone
2 merkins – lt. dan ~15 yards to the next cone
3 merkins – sprint back to the starting line and R&R until you end on 12 merkins

R & R w/:

1 squat – karaoke ~15 yards to the next cone
2 squats – karaoke (facing the other direction) ~15 yards to the next cone
3 squats – sprint back to the starting line and R&R until you end on 12 squats

A quick 10 count and we moseyed back up the hill to the playground for a round of inverted rows and LBCs. Starting with 20 ea OYO, we decreased each set by 5 until we hit 0.

Another 10 count and then took off down the hill that leads to the softball field.

Then it was NUR’s up the hill, jog down, R&R. When the six was in it was 20 morocan night clubs IC followed up by another double dose of nurs and 20 overhead claps IC. We wrapped up our hill exploration with a two trips up the hill, one followed by 10 morocan night clubs IC, and the last followed by 10 overhead claps IC.

I was able to introduce the guys to the tunnel of love and they had so much fun the first time we went through it twice.

A mosey up the hill and we wrapped up with several minutes of dealers choice Mary.

We even got young man Cedar in on the Qing action!

Thanks for having me at Guns-N-Moses guys! Really appreciate the chance to lead!

Catfish, out!

NMM

Welcome back to Waldo!  Nice to see him back in the boot camp mix.

Message for the day touched on the monthly theme of Finances.  A few years back the “1%” label became a media and protester phenomenon.  Well, a business colleague of mine, who is both an anthropologist and a professed atheist enlightened me about another 1% — the 1% that many, many Americans and certainly many pax belong to.  That would be the 1% as measured by all of the humans that have ever walked this planet.  We often pray in COT about the blessings we enjoy.  Yet, I would guess that many pax are like me, and outside the COT financial matters cause anxiety, worry, stress.  The next time these emotions rise in you, take a breath and recognize that you are part of the 1%.  And recognize the abundance (in financial terms) that you actually enjoy.  And try to live from a place of gratitude.

Thanks to Decibel for the opportunity to lead.  Always an honor!
