At 0930 the men from The Fort and their families locked shields at Walter Elisha Park in Fort Mill for a planned service event with the Children’s Attention Home (CAH) of Rock Hill.

CAH provides emergency shelter and helps heal the devastating effects of emotional, physical and mental neglect suffered by these children. The home offers love, security and respect to children not fortunate enough to find it elsewhere and provides a safe haven for children entrusted to CAH.  CAH houses a maximum of 42 children and is the first step in the rescue process then these children typically move to foster homes (within 3-6 months). CAH is necessary due to not having enough Foster families for these children across the state.

During the two hour event, the men, their families and the children from CAH enjoyed games such as kick ball, water balloon toss/fight, tug-a-war, bowling, corn hole, ball toss and other games and activities such as face painting and a popsicle stand.  The event concluded with Assassin and Greg Pendarvis sharing the gospel with the children.

Special thank you to the F3 Foundation that supported the purchase of F3 shirts for the CAH children as well as the professional face painters.  The children left a lasting impression on all that volunteered and the men of F3 undoubtedly left an a positive impression on the children’s lives.

Cherry Park in Rock Hill makes for an outstanding venue for F3

Saturday 06/14/14 0630: 10 men gather to review the guidelines for an F3 Q. We spent the first fifteen minutes in discussion and the next 15 practicing cadence and reviewing HTC. We had a split group of experienced Fort Mill Qs and Rock Hill hard chargers. We were not disappointed by the Rock Hill gang.

0700 5 men join the battle with I (CSPAN) as “the ringleader”

Long walking warm-ups and jog to get us started on a beautiful SC morning. Line up along curb, combo bear crawls, and bunny hops, to and fro for full body war prep.

Big Circle formation for approximately 40 minutes of each man rotating through their chance of Q calling cadence on a wide variety of exercises. Everyone did great, and the group mumbled encouragement throughout.

I knew what was coming next, so we had an extended prayer before handing off to Audit.

Audit on Q:

Mosey to soccer field for The Accumulator

10 burpees followed by 1 lap, 20 burpees followed by 2 laps, 30 burpees followed by 3 laps…and luckily we ran out of time. Props to Posh for setting a pace that challenged Audit and Maximus.

Mosey back for COT/COP combo, had to be there…

Moleskin:

Posh, Mayhem, Belding, and Peach (respect!) all performed like veteran Qs.

Great to see Mater back at it after soccer season. Hard Drive did outstanding in preparation for his Q at Slow Burn (6/27/14 Launch 0515 Baxter Chick-Fil-A).

Red Eye is back in play while he wears his sabbatical bathrobe.

I appreciate Audit, Maximus, Menthol, Package, Pusher, Tatanka, & Twister assisting with prep at Q school.

Every man is a leader, F3 is peer lead, and part of that leadership includes an occasional Q. Don’t Q what you can’t do, but do use your Q to challenge the PAX and yourself, as iron sharpen iron, take charge and show us a well-planned out workout.

Over & Out

Naked man moleskin

Strong showing by the pax today — muggy weather and challenging pain doled out by all Qs (not just physical but mental too). Great job digging deep and pushing each other.  I can only speak for myself but I suspect others would agree that I would never have reached those extremes if I were working out on my own.

Welcome to FNGs — Animal and Padre — and T-claps to those who EH’d them.

Virgin Q by Button Hook was impressive!  Very methodical and diligent on the warm up routine and then BAM!…he lowered the boom with the high rep Merkin, Squat, LBC routine.  He almost missed the launch, pulling his best Starsky & Hutch routine at 0700.  But he did not let the clock unsettle him.

Next up was Package, who also laid out an aggressive mission with his leg crusher routine…audible was a good call and encouragement by the pax was critical to seeing everyone through to the end.

Don’t miss the happy hour this Thursday 5.30-7.30pm at The Millstone in Old Town Rock Hill.

In today’s workout, we discussed the importance of locking shields within the PAX. Do not go through life’s challenges alone. The Captain Phillips movie was mentioned as an example of how the wicked prey on those who are alone. The wicked will not have victory over us when we move in a PAX.

Game Plan – James 4

  • QIC: Anchor Man
  • When: 05/09/14 - 05/16/14 - 05/23/14
  • Pax: 8-15 Men each Week
  • Posted In: Uncategorized

Anchor Man took the Q for the men at Game Plan for 3 weeks straight of James’ instructions through chapter 4.

There is so much to learn in just a few verses. The men each week got real deep and discussed relavant and tough situations applicable to our lives today. Amazing how the word, written thousands of years ago has so much impact in today’s world. Seems like our “coach” gave us a “gameplan” for life!

James 4

4 You adulterous people![c] Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

-The choice is ours, to be on God’s team or the World’s team. God want’s us on his team and pursues us, but the choice is ours and the consequesnces.

8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.

-As we become more obiedient, prayer, reading scripture, worship, God draws near to us and the relationship grows stronger.

11 Do not speak evil against one another, brothers.[d] The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. 12 There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?

-This has a ton of messages in these two verses. We are called to be accountable and held accountable as believers and to believers. However, that means that we love one another and live according to Jesus’ rule, “LOve God and Love your neighbor”. That does not say to judge your neighbor, as we are all sinners and in need of forgiveness. We should be striving to live as Jesus taught us each day.

14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.

-Make the most of our time to be in relationship with the Lord, as our time is a mist and if we do not know him now, we will not know him in eternity. Plus, the more we know the Lord now, the fuller our lives will be be while alive here and in eternity.

17 So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

-Do the right thing at all times, even when it is a difficult situation and awkward. Don’t stand on the sideline….GET IN THE GAME!!

Game Plan BB: Partiality & Favoritism

Ten prayer warriors met this morning to study Chapter 2.

This chapter provides us with guidance regarding partiality and favoritism.

The PAX discussed the following takeaways from today’s readings.

—————————————————————————————————————————

James 2:1-4 ~ My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory.

Takeaways:

– Partiality insults people who are made in God’s image and shows a lack of mercy to the less fortunate.

– By honoring someone because of their riches, we are making appearance more important than character.

– Be mindful of how you treat others and refrain from showing favoritism.

—————————————————————————————————————————

James 2:10 ~ For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it.

 Takeaways:

– Christians are saved by God’s grace but this verse is not an excuse to sin recklessly.

– Ask Him for for forgiveness and demonstrate your faith through good works.

Have a great weekend and prepare your minds/hearts to continue our study of James next Friday.

Game Plan: James 1:19-27

Hearing and Doing the Word

19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; 20 for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. 21 Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

The group discuss this “anger” topic in depth. We are all guilty to be quick with our words and slow to think. Throughout Proverbs we were told to be slow to speak and tame our tongue and be wise!

22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like.

This has nothing to do with salvation, but rather serving as Jesus has taught us to do. To be a Christian is to serve other all the time and not just on our time or when it seems nice. At home, work and community….that means all the time! James is telling us to don’t look in the mirror at a blemish and not do anything about it. Work on it immediatly.

25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

The person serving is blessed and the law of liberty is our salvation, since it is a “freeing” law not an “enslaving” law.

26 If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. 27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

James makes it clear that if we speak out of line and do not serve others our “religion” is worthless. Essentially our selfishness and self centered behavior will gain nothing and be worthless. “Religion” here is not a denomination, but rather what and who we worship….which is ourselves most of the time.

James chapter 2 next week. Good pratical everyday application from James. Come and enjoy some Chicken and Wisdom each Friday!

Game Plan-James 1:1-18 Trials, Faith being the Fruit

No seriously...ride it

Nine men gathered at Chick-fil-a at 6:00 AM for fellowship and study.

Today was the beginning of the Book of James which is the only book in the bible that challenges those in faith to walk the walk.

The discussion was rich and there are some key teaching that we can apply to our lives today just as they could almost two thousand years ago.

—————————————————————————————————————————-

James 2-4 ~ Use trials to create steadfastness in your faith and take joy in those trials

Takeaway ~ We should change our perspective on trials and ensure we are looking to learn from them and understand how they are drawing us closer to God

—————————————————————————————————————————-

James 5-8 ~ For those lacking wisdom (i.e. everyone) go to God in Faith (without Doubt) otherwise putting your Faith elsewhere will toss you around like a boat in the waves of the sea

Takeaway ~ Pray about having total and complete faith in your life and give it to God, completely, and experience stability and comfort

—————————————————————————————————————————-

James 9-11 ~ Those that are humble and find their identity in God should boast because other that are rich or put their faith in material possessions outside of God will fade away

Takeaway ~ Focus on where you put your Faith, find peace during trails if you know your faith is in God.

James 12-15 ~ Stay steadfast in trails and God will reward you.  But also don’t be enticed by selfish desires because it will result in separation from God.

Takeaway ~ Focus on the following equation… selfish desires = the opposite of Gods intent of serving and loving others which translates into separation from God and a life full of strife, discontent, fear, stress and anxiety.  Refocus life on service and love and you will be rewarded

—————————————————————————————————————————-

James 16-18 ~ Every good gift comes from above and God should be recognized for that; man is God’s crown jewel of creation and since we were made in God image we should be bearing the same fruit.

Takeaway ~ This is the first verse that focuses on having faith and living in faith.  Think about the following as a barometer check:  If you were put on trial for following Jesus would they have enough evidence to convict you?

—————————————————————————————————————————-

Have a great weekend and for next week prepare James 1:19-27 and 2:1-26.

AYE!

Chicken Hawk
