The Fort Triple Down – P200 Training Pre-Blast

Our 2nd P200 training 3 run CSAUP is this Saturday, March 5th. Do all three, two or one!!!

Here is the weinke:

Run #1 (6 miles):
-AO – WEP (The Fort)
-Launch – 5:50 A.M.
-10K down Old Nation Road (was used for the BRR time trials)
-This will give us time to get back and Pax to post at the Yard or WEP for a boot camp!

Run #2 (5 miles):
-AO – Baxter Starbucks (Flight Plan/Clydesdales)
-Launch – 11:00 A.M.
-“Latte Loop” – Through Baxter

Run #3 (5 miles):
-AO – Baxter YMCA back corner by field (Run & Gun)
-Launch – 4:00 P.M.
-“Biscuit Run” through Kingsley (5 miles)

Each run provides a variety of terrain. Run 1 and 3 have some hills, but nothing completely terrible. Run 2 has several horrible hills including Gardenia (the king of suck). In addition, I am trying to minimize running on sidewalks or 160 as much as possible to avoid traffic, exhaust and the pounding on our legs.

Go for 3 and a bootcamp, 3 runs, 2 runs, or 1 run! This is a great opportunity to push yourself leading up to the P200. In addition, why else would you run three times in one day if other PAX weren’t there to push you.

This is open to all PAX. Please send out to other PAX not doing the P200 and tweet!

Until next time ….Aye!

PRE-BLAST: The Gloom is Coming to York, SC

Back at the 5-year anniversary Ultra-Convergence in Charlotte, something Dredd said at the end stuck with me. I’m paraphrasing this quote but it’s fairly close: “Some guy out there needs this. Some guy out there is wondering what the heck his life is all about. Some guy out there is being a lousy Dad. Some guy out there is being a lousy Husband. Some guy is out there is getting ready to get fired. YOU may be the only guy out there to help him.”

For months I’ve tried #EHing Deputies and other folks I work with to come to F3. Each time I swing for the Turkey Punch, they would ask, “When would #F3 come to York?”  No matter how hard I would Turkey Punch them to try out The Fort, The Patriot or any other AO, the excuse was, no one (right now) has the desire to wake up at 0 dark 30 to drive 20+ minutes to Rock Hill or Fort Mill to work out. Each time we’d end the conversation, I would answer “I didn’t know when F3 is coming to York, but we were thinking about it.”

Well it’s time to stop thinking! It’s time to pull the pin and throw the F3 grenade to York, SC.

At first, I didn’t think I should be the guy who lives in Catawba 30+ minutes away, to be the one to take the leap in being the site Q for a new AO in York. I work in York, so that was a lame excuse.  So after Dredd’s quote kept repeating in my head, a lot prayer and getting constantly #TurkeyPunched by Apache, I feel the call that now is the time to bring F3 to Western York County.

We can’t be selfish with this F3 thing.  From my perspective the first F is a by product of my favorite part, the second F.  Which has helped me be stronger in my third F.  I love this brotherhood. Many of you have become more than just work out buddies. You’ve become brothers to me, which I learned so well over the Christmas holidays.

So let’s do this!

RECON THANG:

We are planning a few recon workouts before we launch this thing full throttle.  The first is set for January 30th 2016 0700 to 0800 at York Comprehensive High School (275 Alexander Love Hwy. York SC). The folks in York call it York University, because from the road, the facility doesn’t look like a high school at all.  Apache and YHC are going to Q round one before we plant a shovel flag in York.

YCHS has most everything a F3 AO needs to bring the pain. Parking Lots, Hills, walls, an ROTC obstacle course, 1.75+/- perimeter for running. Plenty of options for a Q.

So now your job is to #EH guys you know who live in York, Clover and points between, to swallow the #redpill, and start this process of becoming a High Impact Man.

Popeye OUT!

Clown Cars from the Fort for 1/1

Gentlemen (and the rest of you):

I can’t speak for everyone, but I can speak for me, so I will. On 1/1/16, all PAX of F3 Nation have been invited to celebrate the 5th anniversary of this crazy thing that has inspired so many of us to burn the ships (and our fat pants), to reach in out in service and love to our community (and to our F3 brothers), and to straighten our walk with the SkyQ (which for me = My Heavenly Father). For me, this experience has touched and helped to shape nearly every aspect of my character over the last year that I have been involved, and I look forward to the next 5 years to see what changes will come from my association with all of you.

That said, we are going to support this “ultra-convergence”, if you will, and clown car up to the celebratory workout on New Year’s.

Here are the details as I know them:
1. We will meet at 0600 with wheels up at 0610 at the Baxter Starbucks
2. The workout location is Alexander Graham (AG) Middle School in Charlotte.
3. The workout start time is 0700. End is 0800.
4. There won’t be a much better time to bring an FNG, than to this. SO EH SOMEBODY.
5. I am not personally aware of any formal coffeeteria plans immediately following the workout, but I am certain that there will be at least one or two happening, so I’d plan on spending that time there as well.
6. The link to the Pre-Blast is here: http://f3nation.com/2015/12/16/the-fifth-anniversary-convergence-1116/

Several of you have committed to driving a car of clowns up, but if there are more, please let me know @darkhelmetF3, or let me know if you’d like to go, but not drive (which is the camp I fall into… Ask Spiderman (@F3_Spiderman) or Whitesnake (@Raindawg), nobody wants me to drive).

AYE!

Helmet, out.

Preblast: Devil’s Turn – Different Location 12/17

  • QIC: Honey Bee (actually Sir Topham Hatt)
  • When: 12/17/15
  • Pax: The Devil's Turn Faithful and those running Joe Davis 5k/10k
  • Posted In: Pre-Blast

Since we are now on week 5 of Bratwurst’s 8 week plan to 5k/10k greatness, it seems like as good a time as any to preview the Joe Davis Run course with our brothers at The Fort.

Therefore, Devil’s Turn will meet this week at Walter Elisha Park in Fort Mill starting at 5:15 am this week.  Map Here

As seen in the official preblast of this convergence with the runners of The Fort, there is also a 4:40 am option for an extra 3 miles.  See official preblast here The Fort Runner Convergence Preblast

For those who cannot get down to Fort Mill for the convergence, Devil’s Turn can still have a “meet and run” for those who assemble in the greenway parking lot at 5:15.  Someone propose a course, and then run it for an hour.  Boom, fitness gained.

  • Posted In: Pre-Blast, The Fort

This is it… time to Punch the Turkey out of Cancer & Turkey Punch a whole lot of people to what F3 & FiA is about.  That’s right, there is a PAX combo of F3 & FiA currently registered with the F3 Nation Turkey Punchers team to run the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure this Saturday October 3rd.

THE THANG:

If anyone would like to #ClownCar up to Charlotte we will meet at Sullivan Middle School at 0515. Wheels up at 0530.

TIME: Here’s the race day schedule CLICK HERE or just read it here.

  • Registration/Packet Pickup – 0600
  • Teams Village Opens – 0600
  • Timed 5K Run –  0715
  • Recreational 5K Walk/Run (un-timed) – 0750

RALLY POINT in Charlotte will be near the Start line along E. 3rd St between Davidson St & S. McDowell in the team village.  Look for a shovel flag. With that said, If anyone has a shovel flag(s) for this event please bring it.  See Map .

PARKING is all over the place.  If you use one of the preferred parking sites I believe it is free parking during the event.  Just have some form of payment ready just in case.

PRE-RACE: Time permitting there will be a little pre-race warm up.  There will be a lot of walkers in the un-timed race so we will need to try and get to the front near the start line so we wont have to dodge a bunch of people once the race starts.

UNIFORM OF THE DAY: F3 or FiA shirt if you have one. Also this is a breast cancer awareness run so wearing pink is also in order.

POST RACE: Either meet up at COT around shovel flag until the 6 finishes and/or wait at the finish line cheering on our team mates as they finish. REQUIRED: Team photo pre or post race. so don’t leave unless we’ve taken a team picture.

All AO’s are still open SaturdayThe Patriot has the honor of having Deacon and Peach beat you down. The Fort you should have some fun with Dark Helmet.

In closing, thanks to all PAX and their M’s for signing up for this race.  In 2003 I lost my sister to breast cancer at the age of 31. I’ve participated in the RFTC in some form or fashion since then.  I’m sure there are those of you who have been affected or know someone who has been affected by breast cancer or any form of cancer.  Before her death I shared with my sister JoAnna the verse John 11:4 after Jesus was told of Lazarus’ death. Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that the son may be glorified through it.”  It really opened her eyes to her condition that even though cancer was eating her away from the inside out, that Jesus would be glorified through her pain.  Thus the team name “F3 Nation Turkey Punchers“… So lets go out there Punch the Turkey out of Cancer so #SkyQ will be glorified & hopefully one day through your efforts a cure for cancer will be discovered.

It’s still not too late to sign up – even if you don’t sign up come out and support your F3 Bros. See you Saturday.

Popeye out!

Palmetto 200 – The Fort – Pre-Blast

Pax of The Fort:

Months of training culminated with F3 brothers last weekend. A team of 12, two teams of 9 and a 6 man Ultra team from The Fort put it all out there in a 210 mile relay through the Blue Ridge Mountains. Vans filled with bags of water, trailmix, uncrustables, cold pizza, headlamps, calf sleeves, and phone charges, sourounded the PAX piled into vehicles for this #CSAUP.

You are either coming off a high from the Blue Ridge Relay (BRR), bumbed that you missed the BRR experience, needing a #CSAUP in your life, interested in running a relay, or think “Why Not”! Then Pax…HC for the Palmetto 200!

The P200 is an opportunity to experience all 3 Fs – Fitness, Fellowship, and Faith. The P200 will be Friday March 18th to Saturday March 19th.

What is the P200?
It is a 200 mile relay race that begins at Coble Plaza in Columbia, SC and finishes at Patriots Point just outside of Charleston, SC.

The course travels through through the Three Rivers Greenway in Columbia, Santee State Park, Francis Marion Forest, Isle of Palms, Sullivan’s Island, over the Ravenal Bridge and into the historic Battery of downtown Charleston, and finally finishes at Patriots Point.

Last year we had 2 – 9 men teams and a 12 man team. Runners on 12-man teams will run three legs of varying distances and will run differing total miles. Similarly, 9-man teams will run the same legs but each will run 4 legs instead of 3. The P200 is a flat course and has more variance in the total miles per runner than BRR. It lends itself to include a wider range of runner. In the P200, there is room for an inexperienced runner who will only have to run a handful of flat miles during the race while still providing longer distance totals to challenge an experienced runner on the same team. The overall experience and camaraderie is priceless.

Hard Commit (HC)?
Don’t be left out of this event! There is room for all runners and even non-runners who are committed to train from now to March. Current F3 running groups and boot camps offer perfect training for such an event. We can form multiple teams based on speed and experience. Costs will be divided between the PAX on each team. Costs include registration, van rental, gas, and a few general supplies. You will be out of pocket roughly $200.00. However, that doesn’t inlcude all the gear you end up buying in preparation.

If you are interested than e-mail me the following information at wallacem@fortmillschools.org:

-HC or SC?
-Your preference of team size – 6, 9, or 12
-Your mile pace
-Your e-mail address

F3 Dads – The Fort – Alcatraz – Rock Hill – Indian Land – Pre-Blast

F3 Dads is coming to WEP June 6th, 13th, and 27th!

What is F3 Dads?
An opportunity for fathers and their kids to spend time bonding with each other and other PAX while participating in an F3 (Lite) workout.

Where and when will this workout take place?
-WEP
-June 6th, 13th, and 27th from 9:30 – 10:30
-This will allow the PAX to attend their preferred Saturday workout, enjoy post-workout fellowship, and gather their 2.0’s.

Who can attend?
This is an opportunity for The Pax and their 2.0’s, boy or girl.  There is not an age requirement.  I am guessing that the majority of the kids will be between kindergarten and 8th grade.  This is also a great opportunity to “headlock” men and introduce them to F3.

What will the format of the workouts be?
The workouts will be similar to F3 workouts, but lighter and with kid-friendly exercises / activities.  After warming up there will be more fun exercises / activities such as Relay Races, 2.0 Carries, etc.  Each F3 Dad workout will end in a COT and prayer.

What about F3 Names for the 2.0s?
In order to save time, think of a name for your 2.0 before the workout.  They can participate in the name-o-rama or you can share it for them. Jellyfish and T-Rex are the F3 names of my 2.0s.

What about Naming new FNGs (New members of the PAX)?
We will name them in the COT!  2.0s will enjoy that.  Remember Pusher’s church rule.

Questions???
You can DM me on Twitter (@F3Rooney) or DM White Lighting on Twitter (@WeaThree)

The Fort – F3 Dads – Reindeer Games/Frostbite 5K

When: Saturday, December 13th

Where: Alcatraz, aka Runde Park in Tega Cay

Time: 9:30 – 10:30

Who: Open to all PAX and their 2.0’s, boy or girl.  There is not an age requirement.  The majority of kids will be between ages 4 and 14.  This is also a great opportunity to “headlock” men and introduce them to F3!

What: F3 Dads is an opportunity for fathers and their kids to spend time bonding with each other and other PAX while participating in an F3 (Lite) workout!

The Thang:

The Frostbite 5K, as well as the normal F3 Dads workout (Reindeer Games), is designed to create an opportunity for dads and their 2.0’s to challenge themselves physically and strengthen relationships.  This is an opportunity to experience a group of people pulling together to encourage and motivate each other. #F3Counts

Here’s the scoop…The men of F3 and their 2.0’s will meet at Alcatraz to warm-up. We will break into two groups after everyone gets their muscles moving and blood pumping.

  • The first group (Reindeer Games), younger 2.0’s who are not quite ready for a 5K, will stay at the park and continue a F3 Dads workout until 10:30.
  • The second group (Frostbite 5K), older 2.0’s will follow the paved trails and sidewalks through Tega Cay and finish at the gravel parking lot behind the Gold Hill YMCA. There will be at least 1 pain station along the way. The total mileage is about 3.25 miles.

Upon completion both groups will re-group and meet at gravel parking lot behind the Gold Hill YMCA, for Coffee, Hot Chocolate, and fellowship.

FAQs:

  • This is open to all PAX, kids or not, and is a great double-down opportunity.
  • We will need to plant some cars at the YMCA and carpool to Alcatraz/Runde.
  • We need a couple of volunteers to help provide: coffee, hot chocolate, water, and donuts.  Please IM White Lighting on Twitter @WeaThree if you able to assist.
  • The Reindeer Games workout for younger 2.0s will be similar to F3 workouts, but lighter and with kid-friendly exercises/activities. After warming up there will be more fun exercises/activities such as Relay Races, 2.0 Carries, etc.
  • Each F3 Dad workout will end in a COT and prayer.
  • In order to save time, think of a name for your 2.0 before the workout. They can participate in the name-o-rama or you can share it for them.
  • The adult PAX will name new FNGs (new members of the PAX) in the COT! 2.0s will enjoy that.
