Adopt-A-Highway Community Svc Event

  • QIC: Fogerty
  • When: 09/24/2022
  • Posted In: 1st f, 2nd f

***September 24th, 2022- 7:45 am arrival with an 8:00 am start time**** Instructions and supplies passed out beginning at 745am with a prayer to begin the event.

Men,

We have officially signed up for the Adopt-A-Highway Litter pick-up program.  Our adopted Highway is US21 from Peachstand south to Sutton Rd. (2 miles).   We are required to complete 4 pick-ups a year (once a quarter).  All supplies will be provided.  All we need to do is show up.  The SC DOT will come out and pick up our bags along the route after completion. Fill the bags as we go, then close bags, and leave the bag at that specific spot along the route.

We will meet at the Peachstand parking lot in the rear of the building and coordinate.  We will pass out bags, gloves, pick-up sticks, water, and safety glasses.

**Our NEXT Clean-up date is scheduled for September 24th –   7:45 am – 8:00am**. There is no time expectation for participation.  Stay as long as needed or head out early.  (Modify as needed.) Plan for 2 hours, if you complete the out and back.  We will split up into 2 groups with one group heading down to Circle K on the corner of Sutton Rd / US 21.  That group will head north for one mile on US 21 facing traffic, then cross over US 21 and head back to the starting point. Peachstand group will head south on US 21 facing traffic for 1 mile, then cross over US 21 and return to the starting point at the Peachstand.

The one-mile point will be identified with a Reflective marker and flag.  (this point is just south of Harris Road when coming from the Peachstand.). Point of reference.

Here are some of the logistics:

• Make sure your group knows that in case of bad weather the cleanup will be postponed. Litter collection should never be done in the dark or in bad weather.
• Notify local news media who may have an interest in publicizing your group’s activities. • Remind your group of the appropriate clothing. Long pants and long-sleeved shirts and sturdy shoes help avoid scratches and irritation from poisonous plants. Light or brightly colored clothing will make them easily visible to passing traffic.
• Be sure you have all the materials and supplies you’ll need beforehand, including first aid kits.
• Check with members of your group to be aware of any allergies that might be important (such as bee-stings, etc).
• Work out a plan for what you will do in the event of an emergency.  Quickest route to the hospital is across from Peachstand.
• Park vehicles at both ends of the adopted section.

• Volunteers must be at least 13 years old to participate in Adopt-A-Highway cleanups. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult on all Adopt-A-Highway cleanups.

BBQ And Burpees- Updated!

Brothers from multiple regions will converge on Peachland Polkton Elementary at 0630. Hour long beatdown followed by some delicious BBQ at Jon Gs BBQ. Plan is to be in the line waiting around 0800. Coffeteria to follow in the BBQ line. Jon G’s will have free beer for those interested while it lasts (you may want to bring some back up) and we will coordinate additional breakfast items for those that wish. BBQ will be served starting at 1100.  Oh, and yes, there is a patch. This is definitely the most true definition of a CSAUP. Getting up super early to travel an hour to go get BBQ with a workout before hand.

We will be looking for SC’s up until September 19th, at which time we need to HC for the event.  Please use the link below to sign up.

A Halftime Brew: Wed AM Coffeeteria

WHEN: Wed mornings
TIME: 0615 – 0700
WHERE: Carolina Ale House patio in Kingsley
LAUNCH: Wed, June 22nd

Weekday parking lot 2nd F is running hot the past few weeks with a break in school morning duties. It’s great to see the Glue flowing among the pax, right Crab Cakes?!

So let’s formalize it (sort of) with a weekly summertime mid-week morning outlet for that 2nd F boost you need to get you through the week.

Whether you just crushed a run at Clydesdales, got smoked at Ring of Fire, got walloped at Pantheon or need a jump start after that smartsack, head over to Kingsley with your favorite home brew or Starbucks/Panera cup a joe and sharpen yourself and your brothers — informally 2nd F style. You’ll be 1% better for it!

Duckless but not Luckless

Well, much like Baxter, the sandwich was pricey with a sexy name, but all I left with was a chunk out of my wallet…

The company was excellent though as I learned more about my man Vuvu and the gravitational power of the M. Show to know.

Weekly Q Source is back!

The men of the Fort embarked on a Q Source journey back in 2017 which embraced the Foundations and the 4 Quadrants all while instilling a common language amongst the Pax. YHC found this to be one of the most rewarding things during my time in the Fort and have referenced the learnings in Q Source by Dredd on many occasions.

After spending time reviewing the concepts for 2 years, YHC was pulled in other directions and while I referenced the content, it was not with the same vigor as 2017-2018. We were then introduced to #Acceleration by Anchorman and I felt a renewed spirit to discuss leadership and the challenges men face in our personal and professional lives.

Lately, I have felt the urge to revisit the content and begin the journey of self exploration of invigorating male leadership. I hope you will join me on this as we kick off weekly Q Source in the Fort.

The Thang

Tuesdays beginning 6/21/22

Baxter Starbucks

6:20 – 6:45

We will resume Q Source in the Fort and follow the F3 Nation weekly topics by beginning with Q2.6 Correction on 6/21/22. Moving forward we will complete the 2nd Quadrant and move into Lead Right. This will enable you to pick up the topics if you were to miss a week.

I look forward to our discussion #SYITG

Training Wheels Memorial 48

What started with pedestrian talk of mammon, marriage and marijuana quickly turned to gambling, clean crack pipes and vomit inducing beer laps. Suffice it to say, awesome.

Next 2nd F opportunity? Friday lunch at the flying Baxter turtle or somesuch. Show to know!!
