Be a #HIM and help out the Columbia Community

Gentlemen:
As you may (or may not) be aware, Columbia has been hit hard be storms and has gotten over 2 FEET of rain in the last couple of days. It’s a pretty bad situation for a good number of folks have had to evacuate and some have lost homes and other property.

There isn’t a ton we can do from this end until it stops raining, but we are mobilizing to collect supplies to deliver to our F3 PAX down there, so they can help Red Cross and others distribute to those in need.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:
Bring the following to AO’s where you post tomorrow and Tuesday: Food (dry), water, clothes, blankets, toiletries. Anything you’d need if you were suddenly rendered homeless. We are asking Site Q’s and Q for the day to collect and I will be in touch to collect it all to take it down to Columbia. We’ve been in touch with folks down there and he and I will be working out the delivery of goods.

If you want to donate go here: http://gofundme.com/9x5mxfv8

Please step up and help.

Helmet, out.

Just Run!

  • QIC: Gridlock
  • When: 8/5/2015
  • Pax: Anchorman, McGruff, Barry Manilow, Tater, Twister, Bass-o-Matic
  • Posted In: Clydesdales

The Thing:

As promised on Twitter by YHC, this week at the #Clydesdale promised no burpees, no merkins, and no whining. Just moderate paced running! The goal here is to build up the cardio.

Here’s how it went. After some quick stretching, the PAX started down 160 away from Sbux towards the Town Tavern. Right at a mile in we broke into a few different groups based on pace. Twister specifically led a team toward the dreaded hills on the far side of BAX. The groups got between 2.5 and 3.8 miles in before a 6:02 COT back at Sbux.

COT:

Message – Before the run we had a quick discussion about being positive and “filling the buckets of others”; a simple but powerful concept from the book “How full is Your Bucket”.

It goes like this. We all have a bucket within us that needs to be filled with positive experiences, such as recognition or praise. When we’re negative toward others, we use a dipper to remove from their buckets and diminish their positive outlook. When we treat others in a positive manner, we fill not only their buckets but ours as well. Even the briefest interactions affect your relationships, productivity, health, and longevity.

We finished up with a ball of man. Our prayers are with Tater’s father in law and his family.

It was a pleasure running with these guys!

Tempo Runs to Urgent Care at Clydesdales

  • QIC: Longshanks
  • When: 07/15/2015
  • Pax: Airborne, Seacrest, Anchorman, Mcgruff, Rock(respect), Lugnut (respect), Bassamatic, Longshanks
  • Posted In: Clydesdales

Despite YHC being the Q at Clydesdales this morning, 8 showed up for a slightly more than moderate 4+ miles.  The disclaimer was given (although Anchorman noted that I am a professional since I’m a sponsored athlete (15% off at Athletics8.com with promo code Ryan, shameless plug). No FNG’s an off we went.

The Thang

Before taking off on the run from Starbucks, YHC told the PAX the plan.  Here is what we did.  Run down 160 Until Sutton Road.  Left Up Sutton Road until you reached the light at Market St.  Once hitting the light at Market, you would stay on Sutton, but push you running pace a little faster until you reached the corner by Baxter Urgent Care.  You would then Jog back down Sutton until you reached the next PAX.  Everyone does this until the 6 is in.  Then we jogged backed to the light at Market and repeated 2 more times.  After 3 rounds total, run back down Sutton to 160, then 160 back to Starbucks giving AYG at the light in front of the Library.  A little over 4 miles total, with 3 tempo runs.

Announcements – CAH workout this Friday night at 7:00.  August 8th – Gladiator games, Pancakeaterria, F3 Golf.

Prayers -Anchorman’s friend Courtney who is having a biopsy today.  Unspoken prayers.

Moleskin

*Lots of Mumblechatter from McGruff and Anchorman this morning complaining that YHC shouldn’t be allowed to Q the Clydesdales.  Guess Mustangs and Clydesdales don’t mix, but they do.  ANd I think everyone is better for it. Great job pushing through the tempo runs this morning and getting out of your comfort zone a little.

* Seacrest was right by my side the entire run.  Great push out there and thanks for pushing me this morning.

* Airborne, Bassamatic, and LugNut way to go.  I can tell you guys are getting faster.

*Enjoyed talking with Rock after the workout.  If you haven’t met him yet, talk to him when he’s at your workout.  Good to meet you

*thanks Gridlock and McGruff for the opportunity to lead this group.  I hope to be back with you guys soon.
