The Bubble Meets Cindy

Today, after the pre-ruck, 11 Pax, five of whom did the “double,”  Met Cindy for a bit of a beat down.  Congrats to those that doubled down!!

The thang:

Pretty simple, the Pax meandered around Baxter Village un and down stairs stopping here and there for 1) 20 or 10 curls, 2) 20 or 10 prone presses, 3) 20 or 10 squats and 4) 20 or 10 rows, each arm.  The Pax completed four rounds with a lot of walking with their Cindy or ruck.

Moleskin – we all have burdens, but with the help of others and faith in the Sky Q our burdens will be lessened.

Mentality – Thinking Right is a Daily Decision

Footloose 10.22

15 Pax got a little better in the gloom at Footloose.  HIIT warmed up the group with 2 rounds of 3 min intervals (4 exercises w 10 reps each)  and a long lap around the yard.   A slow mosey returned the group to a parking lot with a slight incline and a cone.   In honor of Rebel’s Double Nickel Birthday, we began with a modified version of 5’s:   5 Burpees at the bottom with 5 Squats at top and the modified bear crawl up to the cone with a Donkey Kick before continuing a mosey up to the top. We finished the A$$KIcking Autumn workout with a modified 5’s of Diamond ( in honor of the double nickel Birthday for Rebel, we completed 5 rounds with 5 reps at each of the 4 corners.  Round 1 -5 burpees at each corner, Round 2 – 10 Merkins at each corner, Round 3 – 15 Monkey Humpers at each corner, Round 4 – 20 Overhead Claps…….Running out of time, we headed back to COT with 1 min to spare and 1 min to finish a quick Round of Mary.

Nice work by all!!  Thank you to Boss Hogg for the opportunity!  Prayers / Praises and a Happy Birthday Celebration wrapped up the morning: Bass-oh-Matic brought Bundt cakes for all Pax to enjoy.  Happy Double Nickle Birthday to Rebel (the day after actual Bday 10/21/2020)

“Buffet of Awfulness”

14 HIMs posted at Footloose this cool, dry Thursday morning for a Shatner beatdown. We started with the usual warmup exercises at the shovel flag, and then moseyed to the Church of God parking lot for the OYO main event.

Mumble chatter started immediately when the plan was shared. Anchor Man was super excited to start off with 100 pushups, and coined the phrase “Buffet of Awful.”

We started off with 100 reps of each of the following;

  1. Merkins or CDDs, then run around the church building and over the high stairs.

2. LBC/Hello Dolly, then lap around the church and stairs.

3. Squats/Alt. Lunges, then lap around the church and stairs.

4. Plank Jacks/Shoulder Taps, then lap around the church and stairs.

Repeated the same exercises at 50 reps each round with same lap around the church, and then we moseyed up the hill to the back of First Baptist Church for wall sits. Each of the 14 PAX did a 10-count, and then we moseyed back to the shovel flag for COT.

Thanks Boss Hog for the opportunity to lead at such a great F3 The Fort AO!

Salty or Sweet, it was all Puddle and nothing but Guppies

Well, after the leadership of @Pothole I decided to do the difficult thing and run at Footloose…

It was difficult, but the PAX all pushed through the pain.  Some saltier, some sweeter.

Handing Off The Shovel Flag for The BALLROOM – Part Deux!

Wow -what a great, steamy morning to be alive. Thanked the Good Lord for the beautiful moon rise on my way to the AO. Overcome with a sense of Deja Vu after handing the Shovel Flag off to Manziel last September, YHC also thanked my lucky stars that Smithers agreed to take it from me.  It wasn’t that easy to find a new Site Q as quite a few Pax turned down the opportunity.

But it was a perfect gloom for a beatdown and to pass the reins to one of the BEST AOs in The Fort, bar none. This place has wide open spaces and limitless potential. Cars kept rolling in and we waited an extra 30 seconds when Polaroid came in HOT. Disclaimer (has anyone actually read it?) was described and detailed. So, our journey began.

THE THANG:

WARM-UP: Mosey to other side of the school

COP:

  • Seal Jacks * 12
  • 5 Burpees
  • Moroccan Night Clubs
  • Mountain Climbers* 12
  • 4 Burpees
  • Squats * 15
  • 3 Burpees
  • Peter Parkers * 12 (almost lost my wind)
  • 2 Burpees
  • Low Slow Squats*10
  • 1 Burpee

MOSEY to ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DROP OFF LANE OR BACK LOT for Dirty McDeuce. Partner up- 3 exercises at each end, 5 reps at each end, then 10, then 15. LBCs, Merkins & Bombjacks

Thoughts on Complacency – How comfortable are you? Are you challenging yourself in any way? Are you stagnant and complacent? Nothing wrong with being comfortable and being able to relax. But a man MUST do things that make him Uncomfortable in order to grow. Without challenges and stepping outside of our comfort zone, our minds and our bodies begin to get soft. To truly thrive, you need to push your boundaries and lean into some discomfort. We live in a world of convenience and comfort. But the more you are wiling to challenge yourself, the more that you will thrive. HARD WORK AND SWEAT IS GONNA PAY OFF.  SO THINK OF WAYS TO PUSH YOURSELF OUTSIDE OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE. AYE?

Mosey to WALL – Peoples chair, PAX JUMP out and do 5 SQUAT JUMPS, Bearcrawl to curb. Mosey to lightpoles. 10 Weezy’s. run to next pole, 10 Squats, back to first pole. 10 LBCs at 4th Poles, 10 Merkins at 5th Pole. Return to 1st Pole after each circuit (also called suicides)

MOSEY TO Front of school for– JACK WEBB (only made it to 6 rounds). Back to COT

Announcements, Prayers (Otis’ Dad, Cash, Our Community). Lean Into the Discomfort and there you will find growth Gentlemen. Great group and great effort out there. These men help to sharpen me every time out. Eternally Grateful & Honored To Lead.

Don’t cut yourself Short.

Shortest Of All Sales, Out.

Noderate at Footloose

I pulled into the lot with a deck of cards and 4 different versions of the Deck of Pain planned. The pax in attendance all looked like runners so I changed the plan and we all ran to check out the Minnow Pond AO. We couldn’t find anybody but Hallelujah! we found a porta-potty for Training Wheels. The rest of planked it up and did some merkins while we patiently waited. Next we ran back to Footloose (1 mile!) and started on the original plan of the Deck of Pain.
Clubs: Squats
Spades: Merkins
Hearts: Flutters
Diamonds: Big Boys
Joker: Burpees
We played this game through most of the deck but I called an audible for the last 11 minutes and we all ran another mile.

Footloose is a moderate boot camp but when the Q knows the dudes in attendance can push a little harder than moderate, please push.

The Buble’

The temps were steamy. The Bubble was bubbling. The disclaimer was disclaimed. Eighteen HIM decided to get better.

Warm Up

  • 15 Side Straddle Hops
  • 10 Windmills
  • 10 Low Slow Squats
  • 10 Flutters
  • 10 Dying Cockroaches
  • 10 Big Boy Sit ups
  • 10 Mountain Climbers
  • Down/Up Dog
  • Static Stretch

Round 1

Indian Run around the block as the caboose did 2 burpess and sprinted to the front.

As the PAX gathered after the run I spoke on the importance of serving. The Bible tells us so.

Luke 22: 27 – 28

Jesus “For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But I am among you the one who serves.”

There is so much opportunity to serve the community. If the Son of God can serve us, we can certainly find ways to serve each other. Don’t be the guy that reclines at the table. Be the guys that serves.

Round 2

Indian Plank while the PAX in the back bear crawls to the front. We continued out of the parking lot down the alley and back. This was a crowd pleaser.

Round 3

Indian Peoples Chair while the PAX in the back lunge walked to the front. We continued out of the parking lot down the alley and back.

Time flies when you are in pain (or something like that). We circled up for COT.

6 endured Broga and Bunzercise

Most of us dont stretch enough, especially those of us who do a lot of KB workouts.  That’s me.  I’m usually KB MWF.  Since I was asked to Q Footloose, I thought it was a good opportunity to get myself some stretching.

After waiting for Uhaul to not show, we ran down to Church of God for a warmup and more comfortable surface. Let the PAX in a variety of the usual warmup exercises (SSH, cherry pickers) then started into Broga and stretching for about 25 minutes.  I could sense the PAX were restless so threw in some Burpees after a smart alec remark from Polaroid.  Then we ran the COG zigzag stairs and back to the lot for a variety of ab work.  Followed with another stair run and then Airborne’s Hip Flexor torture.  Ran back to COT.

BLIMPS at The Bubble

This was the first workout at the new location of The Bubble.  Moved by somewhat popular demand from the home of the temporary JWOW outdoor exercise pavilion (conveniently located on Daphne Circle) to the Baxter Mushroom pool, seven (7) PAX undertook a 6:00 AM work out effort.

Missing were the PAX that complained (sic) about the location of the JWOW Pavilion – Flat Tire, 98 Degrees, Assassin and Pusher.  Odd as the mushroom pool is about a :03 minute walk.   However, in all fairness, Pusher was DR and Assassin had a work call at 6:30.

After a bit of  a moderate warm up, four rounds of Blimps followed by a 1/3 mile run commenced.

Round One – 5, 10, 15, 10, 10 and 10

Round Two – 5, 20, 20, 15, 15 and 15

Round Three – 5, 30, 30, 30, 30 and 30 (oops Q didn’t follow the Wienke)

Round Four – 5, 20, 20, 15, 15 and 15

Round Five – 5, 20

This completed the inaugural Bubble workout at its new home.
