Big B, little b, what begins with B?

Buddies, Burpees, Bearcrawls, Bodybuilders, Booyah! Merkins and B.O.M.B.S. all start with that letter B, that’s what.

18 attended the Swamp today, half rucked, the other have joined YHC for a little schooling on the letter B.

I decided a couple weeks ago that I was going to work my way through the Exicon one letter at a time.  This was my 2nd Q since making that decision so the 8 unlucky PAX that got stuck with me and B today were thoroughly beat-down.

I gave the quick usual disclaimer an off we went.  I immediately heard grumbling about the speed so I slowed it down a bit and we did some karaoke’s and toy soldiers before circling up for a quick warm-up, which consisted of 9 Windmills and 15 Merkins (IC) followed by a couple 10 counts holding a 6″ plank.  A quick stretch and off to the 1st routine.

Routine 1:

Burpee, Bearcrawl, Booyah! Merkin…Chase

Buddy up and partner 1 does 5 burpees and then chases down his partner who is bearcrawling around the 2 roundabouts (about .25 miles).  Tags his partner and then they each do 5 Booyah! Merkins and switch/repeat until getting back to the starting point.  A real shoulder burner!

Routine 2:

For routine 2 we moseyed to the parking lot next to the fountain and did some B.O.M.B.S.  This is basically a DORA with more exercises and the suggestion to pick an exercise that matches each letter in BOMBS.

  • 50 Bodybuilders
  • 100 Overhead presses (with cinderblocks)
  • 150 Monkey Humpers
  • 200 Big-Boy sit-ups
  • 250 Smurf Jacks (suuuuuucked)

In typical DORA fashion, 1 partner does the exercise while the other (in this case) sprints to the 2nd island, bear crawls around the island, and then sprints back and picks up where his partner left off while his partner does the sprinting.

I think only  Cha-Ching, Duck Dynasty, and I finished, but that was probably because we were the odd group and we took the higher of the 2 reps.  I’m not sure if we would have made it otherwise since it came down to the last few seconds before heading back to CoP.

Everyone did awesome and pushed for the entire 45 minutes.

We made it back to CoP at exactly 6:00AM with the Ruckers about a minute behind.

Maximus announced a couple of new AO’s coming to Fort Mill, including a “Bruisers” workout for injured PAX, what a great idea.  As well as a bootcamp AO with a mandatory pre-run, sounds harsh!  In any case, not a lot of PAX spoke up with Prayers except for Maximus again so we prayed for family and everything that was on our hearts.

Thank you for the Q Cha-Ching it was a pleasure to lead these men today.  Nice work everyone!

Until next time,

-FLUX-

Mini Cannoli Run at Pantheon

Perfect timing with site Q Fishsticks needing a sub. This allowed me  to vent some Cannoli stress on the PAX and set up a workout with Cannoli Run similarities.

In this Saturday’s Cannoli Run that YHC is race director, we run 3 1-mile loops where many of the runners choose to eat a (smaller) cannoli 3 times.  Also, Speed For Need will be at the Cannoli Run.

With that in mind, I brought out a SFN racing chair for PAX to run a loop during the workout, with instruction before getting started. We had the perfect number of PAX, 6, to do a nice mini-Cannoli workout. Disclaimer given and we set off.

“Cannolis” were placed at the starting point of the inner loop. The cannolis were slips of paper with exercises on them. Each PAX got to eat at least one cannoli and push the chair one time. Note, not all cannolis were eaten.

A basic warmup circle and we started our loops with cannolis and pushing the chair. The cannolis contained, in no particular order in this BB:

1  20 goofballs, 20 CDD, 20/20/20 calf raises…reg, toes in, toes out

2  15 burpees

3  To the field for Panther Pound Burpees

4  Core Work for a few minutes, flutter, lbc’s, protractor, side crunches, much 6″ holds

5  20 Peter Parkers, 25 dying cockroaches, 20 sumo squats

6 15 burpees

Somewhere in there, we threw in 3 x near max out Balls to the Wall and 3 x  Peoples Chair near max out.

During the workout I talked about the Cannoli Run and Speed For Need. In COT we continued to address supporting your fellow PAX. There are of course the 3 F’s to support each other, but also to support our initiatives such as Speed For Need, Children’s Attention Home and our community efforts in the Paradise neighborhood.  If a PAX has an idea, run with it, get it organized, present it and we will support you.

Announcements, Cannoli Run, CAH Sat’s, G Fit Friday’s 7:00 pm.  Prayers for PAX and their families.  Thank you to Haushka for taking us out. Thanks to the PAX for having me out and being a part of something a little different.

Get out to the Cannoli Run this Saturday!  www.SPNCannoliRun.com

The Q, a Weinke, and an Audible

Dang, it was cold.  The PAX assembled, 2 were off running and the rest began the mosey.  We mosey’d to the access road to Springfield Middle School and completed some warm-ups consisting dynamic stretching, karaoke, accelerating sprints, COP.  We then assembled at the bottom of the drop off for an ab lab.  The plan was for 30 reps LBCs then run the loop, 25 reps each LBCs & American Hammers then run the loop (opted for flagpole as the loop was bigger than remembered – audible 1), 20 reps each LBCs, AH, Flutter Kicks then run the loop (opted this time for the tree line at the top of the adjacent grass hill).  As the ab exercises were all 4 count, we did enough.  There’s still enough time before beach season, but time was flying on this morning’s Q.  Audible 2 – found a wall for wall sits, balls to the wall, and sprints back to the top of the hill.  Off-weinke, the rest of the morning was impromptQ.  Mosey’d to the back of the school and split into two groups of 4 PAX.  Group 1 did partner wheel barrels up and down a flight of stairs, while group 2 did step ups and box jumps.  Mosey’d to back parking lot and completed burpee suicide.  A little stretching to regain composure and then mosey’d to a bus loop behind the elementary school for Dora 1-2-3 with 50 Merkins, 100 Carolina Dry Docks, and 150 Front/Back Alternating Lunges.  As time was dwindling, the decision was made (Audible 3) to abort Dora and begin the mosey back, culminating in dips and a jail break run back to COT to meet the runners.

Count-o-Rama, Name-o-Rama, Name the FNG (Glowstick), announcements, prayers/praises.  Pray for safe travels and patience with the kids still at home from school for the holiday break.

Moleskin: Today was a great workout.  Sometimes life (or a workout) doesn’t go as expected.  Being too rigid and inflexible may cause you to miss out on something great (albeit, unexpected).

Thanks for the opportunity to lead!
