Wandered from the Ruin

One of the nice things about the Colosseum is that it provides decent cover in the event of inclement weather (if that’s your sort of thing). Well, with the help of a few friends, we decided to ditch the friendly confines of our favorite Tuesday Roman ruin in favor of a new AO. With celebrity status-worthy Dark Helmet on Q at Golden Corral, he brought his PAX of 16 to meet up with my PAX of 5 (low in numbers but we’re a scrappy bunch) in the WalMart parking lot.

I won’t take credit for this but I loved the idea and just might do it again. If we lengthen the time, add a few twists and turns and get the heart rate up, we might call it a Black Diamond. So after the last of the headlights made their way in the Colosseum, we took off. After a .5mi mosey to the intersection with 160, we did a brief warm up of:
SSH
Windmills
Moroccan Night Club
After another .5mi mosey to the WalMart parking lot, we had a few minutes to kill which let us do the following:
Windmills
Squats
Carolina Dry Docks

We then saw the headlights begin to trickle into the lot but little did I know at the time, Dark Helmet robbed the other AO’s of their PAX and he brought 15 other guys with him. With a big circle formed, we got the run-down from DH on the importance of 212 and what happens when you add that 1 degree, from 211 to 212. He’s much better with words and it’s his message, so you’ll have to read his BB to get the knowledge.

So with a partner, you’ll do 212 each of the following exercises. The key is however that you each do your respective exercise until one of you reaches failure. At that point, flapjack until you’ve collectively reached 212 of each:

Merkins & Flutter Kicks
followed by
Dips & LBC’s

The time passed too quickly so we all had to part ways back to our starting AO’s. Crash, thanks for the idea…this will surface again.
Announcements: P200 meeting tonight. Many opportunities in the weekly email.
Prayers/Praises: Successful surgeries, Pregnancies, Health of the PAX, Health at the office after discouraging news, our homes. Tap into WHETSTONE if you haven’t already.

As you were.

Rolled up to WEP this morning around 5:05 and Repeat was already there waiting for the beatdown.  In the next 10 minutes I was hoping to see some others roll in, but sadly none showed up.  So Repeat and YHC got out of our vehicles and proceeded to crush the workout.  Disclaimer was given and I also mentioned that I would be making this up as we go.

The Thang (what we didn’t do, but should’ve)

No warmup.  Start at the base of the stairway 30 burpees at each lightpole while bear crawling to the top.  Hit all 6 light poles – 180 burpees total. Run to playground and do 50 pullups.  Return to the stairway and do 25 merkins at each lightpole (150 total) while crab walking.  Run to playground and do 50 more pull-ups.  Run back to the base of the stairway and do 25 squats and 25 LBC’s while backwards bear crawling.  Run to playground and do 50 more pullups.  Return to COT and do 250 SSH and 250 plank jacks.

The Real Thang

Mosey lap around WEP stopping at each drillbit for 20 SSH, 15 Mountain Climbers, 10 Imperial Walkers, 5 Windmills.

Then Mosey over to the small wall in the Garden area of the Synergy building. 20 Step ups (10 each side), 15 dips, 10 Derkins.  Repeat but in reverse order – 10 derkins, 15 dips, 20 Step ups.  Repeat again but this time 20 Stepups, 15 Dips, 10 incline merkins.  Repeat a 4th time but reverse it again.  10 incline merkins, 15 dips, 20 stepups.

Mosey over to the medium size wall in the parking lot by Synergy.  People’s chair for 30 seconds with 10 shoulder presses IC. Then 10 muscle ups on the wall.  Followed by 5 burpees.  Repeat sequence 2 more times.

Mosey over to high wall at the springs building (covered area). 5 Pull-ups on the wall followed by 20 LBC’s, 20 Flutter kicks, and 20 Squats.  Rinse and repeat 2 more times.

Finish with some AB Lab of Hello Dolly x 15, Heels to heaven x 15, Rosalita x 15, Superman, Peter Parkers x 10 and Parker Peters x 10 with some plankarama as well.  Head back to WEP for COT and BOM

Moleskin

  1. Pete and Repeat are in a boat. Pete falls out. Who is left…..Repeat!!!  Thanks for the opportunity to lead this morning.
  2. When it’s just you and Repeat then you find an exercise and just repeat it several times.
  3. We talked about my marketing skills last week at Coliseum.  When I Q at one place then the numbers will be great everywhere else.  You can thank me later Dark Helmet for having 14/15 at GC.
  4. Seriously guys, I hate harping on this but rain is just water.  Get out of you #fartsack and Post somewhere when its raining.  Always great fellowship and mumblechatter when its wet outside.  You’re just going to go home and shower anyways.

The Foundation: What I wish someone would have told me about Fatherhood

The Foundation is a series of informative, educational and essential topics that are foundational building blocks for life, career, relationships and faith.  The mission is to provide content that is relevant and actionable in the lives of High Impact Men.

___________________________________________________________________________

Mark your calendars for the next block in The Foundation

When: March 15th, 6:30AM – 8:15AM

Where: Christ Church (1412 Providence Rd)

Please click here to register*

*There is no cost….feel free to invite a friend; however, we ask that you sign-up so we can plan accordingly.

___________________________________________________________________________

Hundreds of men have gathered from across the Charlotte area to go deep into Truth’s that can shape and impact their lives.  Last October the journey began with discussions on Accountability, November we discussed Living a Life of Significance, and in January we held a workshop on developing High Impact Goals captured by One Word as a theme for 2016.

Now we go further into areas of practical application for our lives as High Impact Men.  On March 15, The Foundation discussion topic will be on relationships and the role of a Father.  The title is, What I wish someone would have told me about Fatherhood.  This panel of high impact men will help you in understanding the role of a Father, ways that we can shape our children, and common pitfalls that trap us from being the Father or Grandfather we are called to be.

Even if you are not currently married, married but don’t have children, have children, or are moving into the next stage of grand parenting, you won’t want to miss this event.  The missing link in so many cases in male community leadership has been the absence of impactful Fathers in our community.  The workshop and panel style event will create an opportunity for all to participate, learn, and share experiences and lessons with other men in our community.

We look forward to seeing you on the 15th.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Given the overwhelming response, we are moving up our time for breakfast and fellowship to 6:30AM.  We will begin seating at 6:50AM.  Please be sure to register so we can plenty of food and coffee. Please park in the upper parking lot to the right of the church. There will be people directing traffic to manage the traffic flow properly.

Moleskin:

We discussed this month’s 3rd F focus of love during our workout today. Men often run from the “love” topic because we’ve been taught to be emotionless since our youth. When we were boys, we were told to “walk it off” or “stop crying” when we got hurt. Most boys are raised to be emotionally hollow men.

Men have learned harness our  emotions. It’s problematic when we release bottled  emotions negatively (e.g. rage, alcoholism and other addictions). What if we could use our emotions for good?

An example of someone using their  emotions for good is the 22 girl who saved her dad by lifted a car to save her dad. She found her dad pinned under a car. This young lady channeled her emotions into a rage that gave her the strength to lift and fling the car off her dad. See the story here. https://youtu.be/kzb23873nA4

Are you using your emotions in negative or positive ways? Be aware of your emotions and tend to the emotional needs of others.

Coupons, Cones and ‘Merica!

  • QIC: Apache & Popeye
  • When: 2/20/16
  • Pax: Nunchuck, Highpockets, Drifter, Mayflower
  • Posted In: The Fort

While it seemed most of all the other PAX were chasing the Yeti in Fort Mill, 6 #HIM in York woke up to continue to grow F3 in York and tame the Dragon.

This AO shows YHC and many other the potential for so much fitness pain.

Apache started the group off with the following

WARM UP:

  • SSH X30 (IC)
  • Stretch out the soreness with a little left leg over right & right leg over left.
  • Merkins X10 (IC)

Mosey to Apache’s cones of pain. Apache found some coupons (Rock) and everyone grabbed one.

With the coupon we did

  • X20 Squats
  • Run to each of the cones with coupon
  • X20 CDD
  • X20 Merking
  • X20 Burpees
  • X20 SSH
  • X20 Monkey Humpers

I didn’t mention there was a hill involved with bear crawls.

Apache then handed the reigns off to Nunchuck to give him a little VQ action I can’t remember the count but there where

  • Side lunge squats
  • WM
  • SSH
  • Cresent Kicks

Nunchuck gave us a little mole skin from the word about David stepping up when no one else would to face Goliath.

Then YHC took over.  We moseyed over to the cougar statue.  I spoke about how it was our civic duty as Americans to vote. We can not complain about who’s elected if we don’t vote. In the 2012’s presidential election only 54% of the registered voters in America cast a ballot. It’s sad to think in a country where so many people gave their lives for us to have the freedom to vote a little more than half used their right to cast a ballot. SO to encourage the PAX to vote and tell their families, friends & neighbors to vote we partnered up  to do the following

while one man runs the other does

  • X54 Irkins
  • X54 Merkins
  • X54 Dirkins
  • X54 Dips

Mosey to the hill next to the baseball fields.

This year America turns 240 years old so with your partner one runs the hill while the other does

  • X60 Squats
  • X60 Monkey Humpers
  • X60 SSH
  • X60 Calf Raises
  • Equal 240

Mose to the wall next to the drop off circle.

I talked about how in America fought against communism and led the charge to help bring down the Berlin Wall. So we did a little people’s chair to try and break down that wall.  About a minutes worth with a little Heads Shoulders Knees and Toes.

Mosey to the COT for 5 Captain Thors (America’s)

Done!

YHC & Apache are honored to lead these York men who have decided to take the #redpill to work to grow F3 in York and beyond.

Silly Yeti – Alcatraz inmates escaped

  • QIC: Trucker
  • When: 02/20/16
  • Pax: Jiffy
  • Posted In: Alcatraz

Today, the Fort hosted some crazy CSAUP called the Yeti. I am not sure why someone would want to run 17+ miles just for fun, but as I drove to the island where Alcatraz is, I drove through this cool swarm of bright lights as the PAX started off. Of course I had to roll down my windows and yell “Its Yeti Time”.

As I sat at the Runde Park parking lot, the minutes slowly counted down towards 06:30. I was starting to worry that the PAX choose the easier of the 2 workouts since there were no headlights pulling in. But at last! 1 crazy PAX pulled in. Whew….thought I was going to have to Q myself – and started thinking how awful fake the backblast would be (500 burpees, 300 merkins, hill ran 10xs….).Thankfully Jiffy decided to try and escape Alcatraz.

So the PAX started with some Imperial walkers from one end of parking lot to the other, returning with toy soldier; did 15xs Windmills and mountain climbers; karaoke to/back length of parking lot. Took a nice pace around the park to the playground.

Started the Pyramid: 1 pull-up/5 squats, 2 pull-ups/10 squats up to 5/25, then worked back to 1/5. Same thing with merkins/dips.

Took another nice pace around the park, then mossy to the HILL.

Start at bottom of hill, run up hill and at every other tree do merkins, starting with 5 merkins and increasing at each by 5. At top of hill we finished with 25 merkins and then 25 flutter kicks.
Run back down hill. That took a toll on the PAX, so audibled, and did every 3 trees next 2 rounds. Second round was squats by increasing 5 at every other tree, 25 flutter kicks at top of hill.
Run back down hill and repeat with merkins again. Goal was to do 3 rounds each of merkins and squats, however, YHC still had lots on the weinke to accomplish.

Mossy to parking lot for a modified Dora 1-2-3. 50 pull-ups, 100 squats, 300 LBCs, while running length of parking lot.

sprint to end of parking lot, 20 mountain cilmbers, sprint back,

COT was quick and easy.

Luckily Jiffy was able to head home while YHC had to stay to help coach minors baseball practice at 08:00. Glad to see at least 1 PAX come out and successfully escape Alcatraz. Doesn’t matter how many PAX show up, in order to be #HIM it takes leadership and risk (of fear that no one likes you) to step up and lead. As always, honored to Q at Alcatraz and to be a part of F3.

Even better, YHC really enjoyed driving along Tega Cay drive and SC160 honking like crazy as the PAX finishing the Yeti. What an accomplishment!!

COT………Any one for candy?  All the little kids give their thanks.  Bogey’s kids are jacked by now.

Moleskin………In all seriousness, today is a day to start the wonderful opportunity of electing our next President.  It is just the republican Primary, but we all understand that this is the most important one in our lives.  We need to get back to the values that WE teach in F3 and most of us live by.  Regardless of your choice or opinion, get out and pull the lever, punch the card or press the icon.  This opportunity is what we vote for and is unheard of around the world, that will need The United States of America soon.  Family under God!

Thanks for the opportunity to lead today Rock Hill!

“Risen” 2nd/3rd F Outing to Movies

PAX,

It is the season of LENT and for those that don’t know what that is, it is a time for preparation for Easter and the death, burial and Resurrection of Jesus. For Christians, this is the most important action, event sign of love that God has done for all people. Without it, there is no Christianity and the world would definitely be a different place.

So, there is a movie out called “Risen” that I think would be a cool 2nd F event to get some pizza, beer and fellowship and secondly open up some questions about what this event means to each of us from a 3rd F view. We will follow up on this at Crossroads the following Tuesday 3/1.

Bringing M’s and 2.0s are up to your discretion, however movie is PG-13 and a bit violent for sub 13.

No need to sign up or over commit, but I encourage the PAX to come out and see where it leads.

What: Dinner/Beer/Movie

Date: 2/25/16

Time: 6:00 Mellow Mushroom 7:15 Showtime

Place: Mellow Mushroom/Manchester Theater
