Convergence to Support Army 385th MCT Deployment

PAX,

Mark your calendars for Tuesday September 13, for a special Convergence to support YHC brother-in-law, 1st Lt. Tyler J. Strom (Convoy). As many of you know, Lt. Quadzilla is born!

  • QIC: Zima
  • When: 06/25/16
  • Pax: Santini, Pusher, Atlas, Watson and Zima
  • Posted In: The Reservation

I’ve been looking forward to Qing #TheReservation for some time now. I’ve been posting in Indian Land this week as part of the #SpitzArmy challenge with the knowledge that I would be closing it out as Q. There’s a certain “standard” that has been set in Indian Land and I didn’t want to disappoint. With all the great options for posting on a Saturday, I felt fortunate that 4 other PAX arrived! Those 4 were none other than Santini, Pusher, Atlas and Watson (from Lancaster). Some good #mumblechatter prior to getting things started. Santini has the gift of misdirection (#charm) which almost caused YHC to start late. A brief disclaimer, not a professional, I promised Atlas we would do 100 burpees (Wait! What?). So we moseyed.

THANG

  • Mosey Carpool Loop
  • COP (All In Cadence)
    • Windmills X10
    • Leg Over Stretch (both legs)
    • SSH X25
    • Burpees X10
    • SSH X25
    • Burpees X10
    • SSH X25 (PAX started to notice the trend)
    • Burpees X10
    • SSH X25
    • Burpees X10
  • Short Mosey
    • 10 Burpees (Santini reminded me that we needed to get to 100 and that he wasn’t going to wait until the very end of the workout)
  • Dirty McDuece
    • Merkins X12 IC
    • Plank Jacks X12 IC
    • Slow Squats X12 IC
    • Lap
    • CDD X12 IC
    • Seal Jacks X12 IC
    • Monkey Humpers X12 IC
    • Lap
    • Dips X12 IC
    • Bombjacks X12 IC
    • Jumping Lunges X12 IC
    • Lap
    • Moroccan Night Clubs X12 IC
    • SSH X12 IC
    • Calf Raises X12 IC
    • Lap
  • Mosey to Dragons Back
    • 10 Burpees
  • Quadraphilia renamed Quadzilla (Quadraphilia is in the #F3lexicon but Santini warned that he probably wouldn’t Google or Wikipedia the term. Tclaps to Atlas for coming up with the term Quadzilla.  I’ll be submitting this for consideration to the F3 Overlords) Find a steep hill, set a timer for 4 minutes, and run backwards up the hill and forwards down the hill until Q calls time. #crowdpleaser #quadburner #awful
  • Mosey back to parking lot
  • Doracides (Cones 1-2). Like your typical Dora but with suicides.  You run to the first cone, do a burpeee, run back, run to the second cone, do two burpees and then return, Flap Jack)
    • 100 Merkins
    • 200 SSH LBCs (a Santni request)
    • 300 Squats SSH

NMM

  • Man I love Indian Land.  As part of #SpitzArmy I was encouraged to come back and visit their AOs (Tomahawk, Arsenal and The Reservation).  I was unable to make PowWow (#3rdF) so I’ll be back for more in the near future.
  • PAX who haven’t been to Indian Land need to come out.  It’s hard work but you #getbetter and the IL PAX are high quality men
  • So great to see Santini just back from a trip from Florida.  He was the #HIM who suggested I start Qing workouts a few years back and the rest is history
  • Also thanks to Santini for showing me the difference between deciding to do something and “doing something” #impact
  • Atlas, thanks for the invite and I see your shovel flag is bigger than mine
  • Atlas, Quadzilla is the perfect name
  • Pusher, always great to see you #nantan
  • Great to meet Watson and am looking forward to what transpires in #Lancaster
  • This was a hard workout. Everyone put in 100% effort and I could tell.  I felt a nap in my immediate future
  • As a reminder, 35 minutes of this workout was “In Candence” #notsmart #old #cantcatchmybreath, Don’t do that again!

Recon our Region – Spitz’s Army

Disclaimer: YHC did not come up with this idea. Spitz has led the charge on this for the last 2 years and deserves full credit hence the name.

As many of you know, F3 the Fort has seen tremendous growth over the past 3.5 years. In 2016 alone, we have welcomed 180 FNGs, expanded our numbers to ~700 PAX and added several AOs.

What has been consistent and a hallmark of F3 the Fort has been several key characteristics:

  1. Living the mission and core principles of F3
  2. A commitment to accountability and brotherhood amongst the PAX
  3. A strong desire to give back to the community where we serve
  4. A constant helping hand to members of the PAX who are struggling or in need

With all of this growth, the one thing that has been stretched is who you post regularly with. Even if you post 5+ times a week (CSPAN, Dark Helmet, etc.) you just don’t get to see all of the guys. This is particularly true of those PAX who started and built F3 the Fort back in 2012. In addition, the Fort boasts a tremendous amount of #HIMs throughout the region. These PAX continue to inspire me and quite frankly have some really tough workouts too! This is an opportunity to connect with these men and I guarantee all 3 Fs across the region.

So I asked myself, “what’s the best way to fix this? How about a challenge to all members of F3 the Fort? The Fort loves challenges!” My good friend Spitz had the idea to post at all of the workouts in our region and away we went.

So here is the challenge:

Your goal, should you choose to accept it, is to post at all 45 over the summer. YHC will create a list of those who HC and document the process each week. Here is the link for tracking your attendance:  Spitz Army Tracking

Except thats not all! Any man can do that! A real Fort Pax would also post at all of the 3rd F sites this summer too. So add (5) more AOs to the list for an even 50!

One of the lessons learned at the Fort is there is strength in numbers. HC to join Spitz’s Army via Twitter or the F3 Nation website. I look forward to seeing you in the Gloom!

Memorial Day Murph at The Fort

Step 1: Finish your regular Monday Post
Step 2: Show up at The Coop (Nation Ford High School, Ft. Mill) and do The Murph.
Step 3: Remember that Memorial Day isn’t just cookouts and pool time…

The Thang:
We began with a warm-up led by each of the Veterans who were in attendance (CSPAN, Blackhawk, Howitzer, and Apache – my apologies if I missed anyone, but that’s all I could remember). There were a number of Seal Jacks, SSHs, Imperial Walkers, and some Bro-ga…

We then brought it in to be reminded of why were really there. The workout is good, but Freedom isn’t free, and we were there to honor men and women who gave their lives for our freedom. So, after a lesson from CSPAN on how to count to 4, we moseyed to the track to begin.

47 Pax completed the following for time (some with 20lb weight vests, and some with our built in weight vests who competed in the “modified” category):
1 Mile Run
100 Pull Ups
200 Merkins
300 Squats
Another 1 Mile Run

And there you have it… Workout complete. Then we circled up and each man present read the name (either one that they brought or one that CSPAN provided) of a fallen serviceman/woman so we could memorialize them.

NMM:
It’s always humbling to do The Murph for me. Not just because it is very physically demanding and I get to see how many times guys like Mary Lou can lap me on a mile track, but also because I am reminded of the men and women that gave all so that regular folks like me can live free. It is a gift that is unmatchable, unrepayable, and undeserved, and for it, I am grateful.

I can’t speak for everyone’s faith tradition, but in my personal belief system, Jesus Christ gave His life willingly to pay for my sins, my stupidity, and my weakness that I may live again in the presence of my Heavenly Father with my wife and family for eternity. Through His sacrifice, He has made me free from the tyranny of the Devil, free from pain, from death, and from Hell. He did something for me (and all of us) that we could not do for ourselves. It is my feeling that in keeping with that pattern, anyone who performs a service for another that they could not perform for themselves is acting in a Christlike way. The fallen soldiers that we honored today (and the many, many more that went unnamed this morning) did much that same thing. They willingly gave their lives and sacrificed that I may live on Earth in this country with my wife and family. They have provided me freedom from the tyranny of evil men, and they have done for me things that I could not do for myself. Reading their names after a workout is small in comparison, but I like to think that they are looking down and that maybe they appreciate the fact that we are trying, in our feeble ways, to honor them. To acknowledge that we rise and sleep in a country that their sacrifice made possible…

Helmet, out…

Highly anticipated… and I anticipate your attendance to make it a launch of epic proportions… SO HC NOW. A little bit of everything at The Reservation

  • QIC: Longshanks
  • When: 04/02/2016
  • Pax: Bubba Gump, Heisman, Pusher, Socrates, Patton, Bounty Hunter, Atlas, Mary Lou, Copay, Santini, Menthol, Ringer, Sturgis (FNG), Longshanks (QIC)
  • Posted In: The Reservation

On a slightly overcast Saturday morning, 14 Pax (including 1 FNG) descended upon the Reservation for a beatdown lead by YHC and mumblechatter lead by everyone else.  Full disclaimer given with FNG present and off we went.

The Thang

Warmup lap around the school with butt kicks, high knees, toy soldiers, knee pull to chest and footpulls to bottom.  Circle up behind the school for COP. 25 SSH, 15 Windmills, 15 IW, 10 Merkins, 10 Peter Parkers, 10 mountain climbers, 10 Parker Peter, 10 second honeymooner stretch (all IC).  Recover on feet and mosey to the bus lot.

Once at the bus lot, pick a partner (size doesn’t matter).  Partner A run a lap around the buses while Partner B starts doing burpee broad jumps.  Once Partner A gets back to Partner B they switch.  Keep going until a total of 100 burpee broad jumps are performed.  Plank when finished.

Mosey over to the school for a series of People’s Donkey Balls.  People Chair for 40 seconds. 10 Donkey kicks OYO, 20 seconds of Balls to the wall.

Mosey over to the playground. 1 pull-up then 4 Moroccan Night Clubs, then 2 pullups, 8 Moroccan Night clubs, then 3:12, 4:16, 5:20.  Run a lap around the playground and then do the pull-up/Moroccan Night club combo in reverse order 5 to 1 then run another lap.  Rest when finished.  Use the cement benches for 15 Dips (IC) and then 15 step ups each leg OYO.

Mosey back over to the bus area for the Dirty McDeuce. 4 rounds of 3 exercises all done to 12 reps IC.  Run the length of the buses and back between each round.

Round 1 – Slow Merkins, Squats, LBC’s

Round 2 – Slow Diamond Merkins, Sumo Squats, Flutter kicks

Round 3 – Slow Wide Arm Merkins, Pencil Squats, Dying Cockroach

Round 4 – Slow Staggered Merkins (6 each side), Monkey Humpers, Hello Dolly.

Mosey back over to the school for some more People’s chair followed by 10 burpees OYO.  Moseyed back around the backside of the school with some intermittent walking lunges by the trailers.  As we finished towards the front Heisman pointed out the Reservation initiation of going over the big wall.  So with the FNG present, everyone went over the wall and then headed back for COT and BOM.

Announcements – lots of great things going on in Indian Land/SOB’s.  April 16th Convergence, 3rd F – Pow-Wow on Thursday mornings.  Fastest 5K on May 21st.  Hog and Coyote Father’s day weekend.

Prayers – PAX doing the Cooper River Bridge Run in Charleston.  PAX with other races coming up soon.

Moleskin

  1.  Thanks to Heisman for reaching out and letting me this group for a beatdown.  Always fun to come out to the Reservation knowing I have to bring my A game.
  2. Appreciate Pusher, Gump, and Menthol riding over with me.  Mumblechatter started early and kept going thorughtout the workout and even into the 2nd F and ride back home.  Workout is what gets us there but its the 2nd F that keeps us coming.
  3. Welcome to FNG Sturgis.  New to the area from South Dakota.  Glad to have you out here and we look forward to seeing you at more.
  4. Nothing like CoPay taking his shirt off at COT.  Then Santini decided to take his off as well.  My eyes cant unsee that.  Then Bounty Hunter made a comment about wanting more people to take their shirts off. #stillnotthatkindofgroup #YesWeARE
  5. Speaking of Santini, complained the entire workout as usual, and then noted how unoriginal the workout is.  Q 5 days in a row (4.1 since nobody else showed at The Hive yesterday) and nothing is going to be original. #springbreakproblems
  6. Still can’t believe that Apache is going to be on my MudRun team.  Should motivate our whole team to run faster so we don’t have to listen to him.
  7. Mary Lou and Copay are fast.  really fast!!

Longshanks out!!

Really enjoyed seeing the father- son duo White family.  Saw them at Gears’ soiree.  Sweeper was predictably misarable with being a teenager and having to go to a party with Maw and Paw.  Told him it had been a while and he agreed that he hadnt posted since Christmas break.  School, good grades, sleep and all.  Well that just wouldnt do.  Spitz looked good.  Hair all freshly cut, looking trim and showcasing his bride out at a party.  “Where you going?”, I asked.  “Probably Alcatraz- Im Qing there in a while and should get the lay of the land”  Well that just wouldnt do.

0600 I arrive to reservation do my own scouting.  6 crazy warriors were getting ready to jump over and crawl under stuff.  0630 roll and we have a hearty crew.  hadnt seen several in a while.  especially Sergent..errr. General, One Niner, Co Pay and Ringer- all worthy Indian Land Stalwarts.

Chaser tried to sleep in on me.  Something about the coziness of his transformer sheets and binky.  Lucky for him, The Pax’s oldest non war baby- CSPAN threw him in his only non Jeep car and made the beatdown.

Dark Helmet and Geronimo had no choice but to post.  My EH is a strong one.

Lots of moans, groans and mumble chatter today.  And lots of laughter and fellowship.  That’s what its all about.  Thanks to Indian Land for the conch.

YHC had the honor of being called to duty at the Reservation for an early Saturday morning Indian Land beatdown.   When heading over to Indian Land, there are some rules that must be followed – make it hard and no resting 10 counts.  YHC arrived a few minutes early and saw a very dirty group of 4 finishing up the early morning pre-workout OCR training – Props to One-Niner, Copay, Atlas and Pebbles for getting it in early.  It was cold out but I promised that we’d warm up quickly and stay that way.  Now the fun starts:

Scarce, But Found, Coupons

  • QIC: Old Bay
  • When: 02/6/16
  • Pax: Atlas, Copay, Ringer, Old Bay
  • Posted In: The Reservation

Four pax gathered at The Reservation on a refreshingly cool morning for YHC’s VQ at this AO.  The afternoon before, my 2.0 and I moseyed all around the IL campus in search of some natural gear to serve as coupons (quarry rock being idea).  Note for future Q’s of The Reservation, quarry rock can be found in front of ILMS, near 521 (southern side).

The pax of IL were very very welcoming of YHC as a Q that doesn’t make it out to IL very often.  Everyone pushed and encouraged each other well, and hopefully got a little stronger from it.  There was much mumble chatter about the Superbowl and qualities of QB’s on both sides.

The Thang:

Mosey around ILES to bus lot for COP Warm-up
– SSH x40
– IW (high) x20 => High Knee
– Monkey Humpers x20
– Windmills x20 =>Butt Kickers
– Mountain Climbers x20
– Plank Jacks x20 => Toy Soldiers
– Low Slow Squat x20
– Dry Docks x10

Mosey to front of IL Middle School for quarry rocks
Exercise, sprint, plank, 6 inches:
– 10 sqts
– 10 sqts, 10 curls
– 10 sqts, 10 curls, 10 press
– 10 sqts, 10 curls, 10 press, 10 tri
– 10 curls, 10 press, 10 triceps
– 10 press, 10 triceps
– 10 triceps

Replace coupons and mosey to top of dragon’s back

Partner up for hill work. Partner 1 performs exercise (a) while each partner 2 runs to the bottom of the hill, performs the “bottom of the hill” exercise (10 reps), and runs back up. Flapjack. Repeato for exercises (b) and (c). Slight recovery before proceeding to rounds 2 and 3.

Round 1 Round 2 Round 3
Top of Hill:
(a) Freddies
(b) LBCs
(c) Russian Twists
Top of Hill:
(a) Mountain Climbers
(b) Plank Jacks
(c) Peter Parkers
Top of Hill:
(a) Knee-tar-Jie
(b) Jump Squats
(c) Lunges
Bottom of Hill:
Box Cutters x10
Bottom of Hill:
Wide-arm Merkins x10
Bottom of Hill:
Bombjacks x10

The original weinke had extra credit of runs (with partner) to the bottom of the hill and bear crawl up while the 6 finishes for each round.  All teams stayed pretty close through the exercises, so there wasn’t an opportunity for that between rounds.  However, a run down and bearcrawl up was done after round 3.

Lap around the baseball field and back to the parking lot for a few minutes of Mary.

  • Flutters x20
  • Hello Dolly x20
  • Rosalitas  x20

Thanks to Heisman for allowing me to Q at this awesome AO.  There’s not a much better way to start the weekend than working hard with great men in pursuit to make our selves better on many levels.

Taming the Dragon in York – Recon

The re-con operation of York Comprehensive High School was a success. So much so we have upped our hard launch date of F3 York to February 6th 2016 0700. Be there with your #EH’ed #TurkeyPunched #sadclowns!! However on this day 19 PAX including 1 FNG showed up to break ground on #F3York.

THE THANG:

The YCHS campus has so much potential for pain stations we barely scratched the surface. After a standard warm up we moseyed over to the YCHS Navy JROTC obstacle course where there was so many options YHC couldn’t think of what to start with first.  There is a dip bar where we did a variation of real bar dips, then CSPAN suggested we do a dip race which for those of us who still suffer from gravity issues was a real humdinger.

While half the group dipped the other half did a set of merkins and sqats at what I’m going to call the poles of pain.

The cargo net was a challenge of balance for all. There was a lot of mumble chatter about making sure everyone had good dental plans.

Next Bear Crawls under another station made of black culvert pipes. We all enjoyed watching Burgundy do his best Luke Kuechly impersonation, for one hopping over the waist high hurdles.

After a short mosey YHC handed off to Apache to take the reigns for a moment and it wasn’t very long before he found a painful Jacobs Ladder hill.  At the bottom Merkins at the top Burpees 5 to 1.

After a short mosey our man Pusher saw potential in a walk way with walls so BTTW & People’s Chair killed for a few rounds.

For the last minute, Turbine threw in a half a parking lot of low country crab crawls for good measure.

All in all this, AO has huge potential for Turkey Punching the men of Western York County. Also now with Royal Site Qing Lake Wylie soon, this will be just like Operation Anaconda (Little Civil War Reference if you get it) squeezing the men of York County into taking the red pill towards becoming #HIM.

Afterwards and until further notice #coffeeteria will be held at Sandy’z (formerly Pope’s at the White House) across from the Moss Justice Center.  During this coffeeteria a #F3York board meeting was held and the vote was unanimous that this AO will be named #TheDragon for the historical reference that the York High School mascot years ago use to be the Green Dragons. We though Cougar would be more fitting for a FiA name. (Oops I said that out loud).

Check the Q List – Apache and I have already threw many of you to the Dragon. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mfnvJ9faf5NVFU9afWW4IDWBxJglS-4YFzZx39RGa4M/edit#gid=1726409880
