NMM:
An excerpt from a poem by Amanda Gorman:
Just like a skill or any art,
We cannot possess hope without practicing it.
It is the most fundamental craft we demand of ourselves.

Getting to start my day with the caliber of men in the Fort is one way I practice hope. I’m grateful for it.

Stop along the way for deconstructed burpees:

10 squats
10 plank jump ins
run
10 squats
10 plank jump ins
10 merkins
run
10 squats
10 plank jump ins
10 merkins
10 plank jump ins
run
10 squats
10 plank jump ins
10 merkins
10 plank jump ins
10 SSH
run
Repeat the full 5 steps each subsequent stop

PAX were advised to just jump in where the most guys were when they got to the exercises, or to skip the exercises entirely and just keep running.

When we stretch to a route that necessitates covering 4 miles, YHC gets worried about leaving PAX. We managed to stay together and Fishstix + Badlands picked up the 6 today making sure we all arrived back at COT resting on 4 miles. Bravo gentlemen!

The Total Body Destroyer

YHC gave the Disclaimer and also Noted last time I Q’ed a KB workout everyone hurt for at least a week.

WARM UP:
We started off with

15 – imperial walkers
15 – wind mills

Slowlesy to the larger parking lot where the board was set up along with some music

Explained this is OYO not a group effort as they looks on the pax did not look amused by the number of reps.

THE THANG:
Also on every minute on the minute 3 KB man makers.

After the first 2 rounds I Omahaed that to every 2 minutes as it took about 30sec to get done and few seconds to gain your composure back.

50 KB Thrusters
75 KB Stright Arm overhead Ground Taps (this is done on your six with the KB straight above your chest. You then proceed to lower the weight over your head till it touches the ground. This works you lats like a lat pull down in the gym)
100 KB Curls
125 KB Swings ( this is definitely a full body exercise)
150 KB Halo’s smoke those shoulders
175 KB Squats

Due to time we Riffle Carried to the opposite end of the parking lot then found our way back to COT.

There was a lot more intended but due to the stupid time constraints we only made it this far.

Planked it up for the 6.

Hope I lived up to the Hives expectations and my KB reputation.

Announcements:

Dam to Damn Bar 10k, Christmas party

Prayers:

Alot of health concerns with families getting sick, elderly parents sick and in well. It’s always hard around the holidays when we find ourselves in a house hold with sickness

Frosty’s Revenge: The Icebreaker Workout

BEFORE HAND: I ran out of the house to find my windshield completely frozen. I mean should I have expected when it’s 27° out. I tried to knock the ice off but with that I only made it to the stop sign at the end of Rd. As I started sweating bullets thinking I was going to be late just get my windshield clear so I can view the road. I made it with time to spare.

I proceeded to get out of the vehicle trying to get used to the bitter cold. Upon circling up we got a good amount of Pax which always ends up making for a great time.

WARMUP: 10 windmills
10 SSH
10 imperial walkers

Mosey over to the milestone.
Asked the Pax to think about what they are most grateful for this time of year and also what they are struggling with.

THE THANG:

2. 15 – Mike Tysons
3. 20 – Plank Toe touches each leg

Taking responsibility

YHC clipped the Ms car on the way out of the driveway this morning – initial reaction was to find anything and anyone else to blame…. I was running late because no one moved the elf, and I couldn’t find my running shoes because my son “put them away in the garage”, and my M didnt pull all the way up in the driveway.

The truth is I didn’t do the basic things required for the task like taking a walk/look around the car or adequately use my mirrors. These were all completely under my control and I failed.

Human nature is to deflect blame to others, as HIMs we need to resist this urge. We can’t blame other’s for our own complacency.

THE THANG:
run to Allison park stopping every 1/4 mile for 10 merkins.

once at the park, yhc led IC exercises until the 6 arrived (squats, reverse lunges, sumo squats). Once all PAX arrived, we assumed plank position and performed in cadence shoulder taps (40) and then in cadence squats (30) while each PAX performed one max set of pullups.

ran back to Earthfare stopping every 1/4 mile for 10 merkins.

used remaining time to do 4 corners at Earthfare with10 reps of sumo squats and wide arm merkins at opposite corners.

couple minutes of Mary to finish.

strong work by all today.

Crawling in the Bushwood

Chilly low 20s morning.

Haven’t been to a true bootcamp in a while, let alone Q one – knew it might get interesting.

Decent amount of cars pulling in as I was on other side of parking lot scribbling exercises on the asphalt. When I wandered over to CoT area, I realized I knew almost no one (reason 1 not to take too much time away – miss out on meeting new PAX).

Warmup consisted of a mosey along the street behind school and then plank for 6. circled up. Fogerty was hyping up all the upcoming VQs from the PAX there this morning so YHC asked if any of them wanted to practice some cadence calling for a few warmup exercises. Bubbles and JCruise politely declined. Time Machine (not yet lined up for his VQ – hint hint site Qs) stepped up to the plate and led us through Windmills, SSH, and Hillbilly Walkers IC. YHC then stepped back in and finished us up with some Mtn Climbers, Low Slow Squats, Moroccan Night Clubs, and Overhead Claps. Pretty sure TimeMachine did a better job on his cadence calling than YHC.

We then continued our mosey to the tiered tennis viewing area and planked for the 6. We knocked out a couple rounds of step ups and derkins IC. Original plan was for 3 rounds but towards end of 2nd round YHC was close to failure on the Derkins (reason 2 to not take too much time away – have to modify weinke).

Continue to Mosey around to the front of the school, plank for the 6. Couple rounds of curb dips and monkey humpers IC.

Continue Mosey to main student entrance, Toy soldiers, butt kickers, and high knees for 6.

Continue Mosey back towards football parking lot, plank for 6.

OYO Bear Crawl Ladder:
-crawl to 10 yard perform exercise, run back
-crawl to 10 yard perform exercise, crawl to 20 yard perform exercise, run back
-crawl to 10 yard perform exercise, crawl to 20 yard perform exercise, crawl to 30 yard perform exercise, run back
-crawl to 10 yard perform exercise, crawl to 20 yard perform exercise, crawl to 30 yard perform exercise, crawl to 40 yard perform exercise, run back
-crawl to 10 yard perform exercise, crawl to 20 yard perform exercise, crawl to 30 yard perform exercise, crawl to 40 yard perform exercise, crawl to 50 yard perform exercise, run back

(all single count)
10 yard – 10x Heels2heaven
20 yard – 20x Flutters
30 yard – 30x LBCs
40 yard – 40x Shoulder taps
50 yard – 50x American Hammers

YHC and a few other hard chargers finished the ladder early and did an extra 50yard crawl. YHC then (foolishly) attempted to help the 6 by leading their set of American Hammers IC. well that didn’t exactly pan out as YHC ran out of steam around 40 (reason 3 to not take too much time away – cannot complete planned reps). Took a 5 second breather and got through the last 10.

Moneyed over to brick wall and did a long wall sit while every PAX had their turn to show off their burpee form (I believe breadfruit was the winner).

Short Mosey to CoT for some Sumo Squats and ended with 5 burpees OYO.

CoT – Tiller retiring from FD – Tclaps

We put in some good work but YHC will get back in better shape and bring it harder next time.

-Badlands
