Bushpit Revival

WARMUP: I showed up 2 minutes late because no one pre-ran with me. Since I was warm the PAX were instructed to stretch or do whatever while I shared about me. Simple things like my name, kids, job, etc. Its amazing how so many forget those after we name someone. During my time of sharing Bandcamp was preforming uncomfortably close SSH.

THE THANG: Crazy 8s at the Forest Creek baseball concession stands. 8 figure 8 loops with a different exercise each time passing through the middle. Viewers choice on the exercise, only rule is cant repeat the same one twice.

Then we did some 50-75-100 running where I once again proved I’m the fastest in the Fort

Dealing out some Man Makers

WARMUP: The usual

THE THANG: Broke out a deck of cards, but I know Band Camp always complains about the low numbers being too easy so I modified the work to accommodate. I left swings off however, just to give him something to complain about


Diamonds: Overhead Press (each arm)
Hearts: Squats
Spades: Lat Raises
Clubs: Curl (total not per arm)

Numbers 2-4 were man-makers instead of the above movement, and Aces were 1 man-maker followed by a lap around the lot

Made it through most of the deck. One lap and a few man-makers short of complete

FOOPC at Bushwood 4 NextGen

The aim today was simple; remind men our mission never ends, what we PAX have is a gift to give, and looking around, there’s a legion of men we can give it to in order to amplify our impact and invigorate male community leadership in our very small corner of Fort Mill that has over 4,500 students.

We had an FNG (JCruises’) son with us., sophomore at Catawba Ridge Highschool, the NextGen.

Bandcamp had informed me of a region that starts its disclaimer by reciting our mission. That’s a best practice we should adopt to remind us why we are here. It’s even more critical when an FNG is present, you can get a good workout at numerous establishments including the comforts of your own home, what makes us different if it’s only a workout?

WARMUP: Run aimlessly to Forest Creek Middle School and do stuff while plotting a few tweaks to the weinke.

THE THANG: 5 stops was the plan with exercises in FOOPC order.

We commonly forget our 5 core principles or at least do not recall them in order (I still need to figure out why that may matter, but it does). We all love our acronyms; therefore, I dug deep into the exicon to arrange a workout based on FOOPC. I should of just asked @italianjob who quickly rattled off a number of exercises to pull from.

F – Free of charge
O – Open to all men
O – Held outdoors
P – Peer-led in a rotating fashion
C – Ends in COT

Stop 2: Omaha to basketball courts with gorilla walk merkin across the court.

Stop 3: Run to the student parking area, repeat FOOPC with a couple exercises swapped.

Stop 4: Wrap around to our favorite hill by the football field, and repeat FOOPC up light posts. While en route, heckled by our Weasel Shaker to lead from the front and our FNG is not breaking a sweat. I expected nothing less from the source.

Stop 5: Arriving to COT, called Captain Therkin Webb, a complicated webb you call in cadence. Took a couple of rounds but think we synced up to 5 rounds

Summary

I came in today with a lot on my mind; conviction about the NextGen, F3 in our community east of the peachstand, and feeling spicy that we’re not doing enough and can do better.

Honored to lead 13 PAX this morning, a responsibility I never take lightly. That number should be the bar here at Bushwood, and the majority should reside within 3 miles. It’s a crime against humanity to have less given the thousands of men in close proximity who may be a Sad Clown, need us to lean in and ignite them so that they may in turn perpetuate the cycle and cumulatively, have a broader impact than any one of us will ever have on our own. These men need us, our community needs us, and most importantly the next generation needs us.

Our mission is clear so do for one what you wish you could do for many.

Death by squats

WARM UP:
SSH, IW, Merkins, and Plank kick throughs

THE THANG:

Partner up with mode of transportation being nur to the end of the parking lot and mosey back.

Using Cindys,
50 clean and press
50 Manmakers
100 Merkins (farmer carry the cinder block to the end of the parking lot and back instead of original mode of transport)

Switched to some Jack Webs:
Broad jump and squats; 1 broad jump, 4 squats. 2 jumps, 8 squats, up to 10 and 40.

Headed over to the playground for another quick Jack web.
Pull-ups and dips. 1 pull-up to 4 tricep dips. Went up to 5 and 20 before heading back to COT.

Off Brand Biscuit

WARMUP:
Run to Doby’s Bridge Elementary – take the long way

THE THANG:
teacher parking lot is the fast loop
around the school is a slow loop
most did 3ish, some did 4
meet where the cafeteria folks park for the pacer test. If you’re out during the pacer test, take the short loop. When cafeteria worker rolls in, it’s time for us to leave. We got to 38 rounds of the pacer test: Maximus, LTrain, and YHC were left standing.

Bushwood from Tennis Courts to Grassy Knoll

We had 8 at Bushwood for a morning that we talked about purpose… God’s purpose for our lives and how our purpose intersects with occupation (or if it does).

Warm up

Mosey to Tennis Courts for three rounds of

  • Derkins
  • Dips
  • Step ups

with a run in between

Mosey to the back wall to pass the coupon while the Pax performs wall sits and the mode of transportation is either a bear crawl or lunge walk

Final round was 7s with Bobby Hurley’s at the top of the hill and Donkey Kicks at the bottom.  The mode of transportation was bear crawls up and crawl bears down the hill.

Backwards accumulator with a touch of Apache

WARMUP: Wegs said peace out and ran away.  The rest of us stuck around.  Warmup stayed local at COT: SSH, cherry picker, low slow squat, merkins, windmill
THE THANG: We ran away from COT towards the bus loop and stopped at the corner for our first exercise
of the backwards accumulator.  Started out with 10 bomb jacks followed by Apache 10 count from Mainframe.  Next took off through the entrance and up to the front of the school for some Al gores while we waited and then did 20 diamond merkins along with the 10 bombs.  Here is where Senator gave us an old school Apache 10 count where we learned about this redwood’s history.  Next was back down to the corner where we stopped for 30
30 hammers, then the 20, then the 10.  Undertaker picked up the 6 before we got started, because that’s what we do.  Got us an Apache 10 from undertaker at this stop. We then ran to another entrance of the school for 40 squats, then 30 down to 10.  To the back of the school we packed in 50 flutters down to the 10.  Then we stayed there for 60 calve raises down to the 10.  Then we ran back to COT.  On the way, there may have been some merlot deposits but I think that’s what happens sometimes when you work extra hard and push
so good on you pax.
