Five at the….oh wait – that’s Friday!

WARMUP: Jog with some windmills, planks, merkins, produce pickers aka tally taps and moving from light pole to light pole with burpees, merkins or squats at each, then…..
THE THANG: Joined the PAX doing the Chad 1000X workout at the stadium. We went to the track and did laps, stopping at the 50’s for 10 merkins at between the uprights behind each end zone for 10 squats each. 7-8 laps completed and Slap Shot was king.

PAX got 2.5 miles and between 180-200 merkins and the same on squats. Simple but got our monies worth.

MARY: It exists, we talked about it as we scrambled to make it back to COT from the stadium by 0600.

WARMUP: Mosey to the track. Did 10 bomb jacks while we waited for the gate to open.

Moseyed to the goaline and did a 100yrd bearcrawl. Jogged back to the start.

In between each 5 minute set we would run to the Indian restaurant and back

With 4 minutes left we did a mix of Core and shoulders until 6:00. Total was 250 Merkins today.

Final thoughts:

Throughout the workout this morning we were able to talk about a lot of good topics. One of which was the idea of “imposter syndrome “ and how all of us in a way encounter that in our lives.

I value and admire the openness each of us has and the perspective each of us share at these workouts. It’s what keeps me coming back. Specifically The belief and knowledge that anywhere I go I’m not alone…. Even in a parking lot at 5:00am In the pouring rain. 👊

The Sergeant Major

WARMUP:

So in honor of Veterans Day I created a custom WOD in honor of my father Sgt Major Horace Pysher.

The reps are indicative of the units he’s served in throughout his career.

The Sergeant Major:

28 Burpees
1 mile run
28 Burpees
56 Big Boy Sit-ups
1 mile run
28 Burpees
56 Big Boy Sit-ups
112 HR Merkins
1 mile run
28 Burpees

All told it’s 3 miles + 112 burpees Sit-ups and Merkins.

(As we got to the end I offered a 200yrd bear crawl as a substitute to the 112 HR Merkins. )

Great push by all …Harry Carry was the #king of the day! 👊

Funky shorts day

WARMUP: Mosey around teeter, deep breathes at the dumpsters, circle up on far end. SSHs, windmills, low slow squats. MNCs. Finish up warm ups with mucho chesto. 10 merkins, 10 diamonds, 10 wide arm, 10 stagger right, and 10 stagger left.
THE THANG: Mosey up to church parking lot for accumulating BOMBS. Perform first letter, run to front of church for 10 merkins, run back to start. Do first and second letter, run,…repeat…you know the drill.
B=5 burpees, O=10 Os (abs), M=15 mountain climbers, B=20 big boys, S=25 surf Jack’s.
Partner up for jump overs. P1 holds plank, P2 jumps over and does flying squirrel, repeat up to 10, then switch. We did 10, 8, 6, 4, 2. At 6 we switched to burpees instead of squirrels and added hand release merkins to plank.
Mosey back to lot and grab some curb. 20 toe taps, 20 dips, 15 toe taps, 15 dips. Finish up with 2 slaughter sets. 10 box cutters, 9 dying cockroaches, 8 BC, 7 DC….after 1 Finish with 10 box cutters. Keep legs off ground for entire series. Second set, 10 hand release merkins, 9 mountain climbers….Finish w/10 hand release…crowd pleaser after a lot of chest work. Mosey back to COT.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Apparently I missed the memo on funky shorts day. Grassy Knoll tried but it was Spectre for the win w/a fancy pair & matching headwrap. So next week the PAX will need to rise to the challenge.

Nostalgia and Fantasy Football

WARMUP:
After a pseudo-disclaimer we took a nice

For the main part of the workout I channeled my first ever WO I attended at the GC 3 years ago.

DORA
100 Merkins
200 squats
300 LBCs
50 diamond Merkins.

It was here where Slow Jams and I lamented our FFB teams and how terrible waivers has been lately.

Next we ran to the wall behind the Oil Express where we did 3 rounds of :

10 irkens
10 Dips
10 derkens

Then ran to the HT wall. All pax did a peoples chair then one pax would run to the other side of the alley and do 5 HR Merkins. We did this for 2x

Ran to the Bubbles and Bows Parking Lot

Did 15 Hammers 15 Flutters 15 BBS and 15 In and Outs.

Got to COT in time for 15 burpees.

Orange is the new NC State Red

WARMUP: mossy to playground for SSH, IW, HW, merkins
THE THANG: Each PAX completed 10 pull-ups then ran the path. For round 1, 15 merkins at each swing. Complete another 10 pull-ups and repeat path with 20 LBCs at each swing. Complete another 10 pull-ups and repeat path with 15 squats. Wrap it up with 10 pull-ups. Not sure Dark Helmet completed pull-ups or proper merkins since he was in the dark the entire time. Slapshot was leader as he’s trying to encourage PSU football team to whip up on that school to the south (No Pusher that doesn’t mean South Carolina) – Ohio State. Maximus wore the new NC State colors orange for his failed bet on them beating Clemson (but the ACC is a basketball conference not football conference 🤷‍♂️). Band camp never stops pushing PAX and Kermit is still in cloud 9 for Tennessee (the real orange) for beating the other school to the south (again, not South Carolina nor Georgia). Bobber even posted and complained that the monkey bars were wet (isn’t he a fisherman? Aren’t they always wet?)

Stone Cold Stunner=Burpees

WARMUP:

Mosey to the bottom of the entrance Hill.

Started a ladder to the top of the hill. At each light pole did the following reps

Once at the top of the hill we did the same thing with Squats.

After this we did a brief mosey to the handicapped parking lot by the football field. Did some bomb jacks to make it fun.

With 15 minutes left we got back to COT for a Tabata Series. 30 seconds on 10 seconds rest. We did 5 minutes of merkins/shoulders then 5 minutes of Abs/Core.

So much like your favorite professional wrestlers growing up who all had their own signature finishing move (stone cold stunner for example) I too have a finishing move that ensures “victory”.

To finish the workout we did a 5 minute EMOM 10 burpees every minute.

The Pax were delighted.

RING OF FIRE – 12OCT2022

WARMUP: Not much in the way of warm up. 15 burpees to get the blood flowing, a short jog for a few Abe Vigodas, Cherry Grabber Tappers (or whatever the heck we call these), and some SSH.

THE THANG: As I have now learned that I make moderate workouts and am only around for the yapping, instead of telling you all that we did, just imagine a nap. It was probably about like that.
Just kidding… here’s what went down…
Mosey to corner of AO Jones and HS driveway (by stadium)
Find your rock
– 30 curls
– 30 OH press
– 30 chest press (on 6)
Run up AO Jones to next entrance
– 20 flutters (4-count)
– 20 LBC
– 20 Dolly
Run up AO Jones to the first light
– 10 Wide-arm Merkins
– 10 Regular Merkins
– 10 Diamond Merkins
Run to the light at Springfield
– 5 burpees
Back down the hill – repeat each station as you go
Turn left at the rock station
Run to the painted crosswalk
– 20 squats
– 20 calf raises
– 20 bombjacks
Run to pull-up bars
– 10 pullups
– 10 knees to chest
– 10 dips on the curb
Bottom of the hill
– 5 burpees
Back to corner – repeat each station – THAT’S 1 mile and one rep.
Go as hard as you can and as far as you can for 45 minutes.
