In Honor Of September, 11, 2001

WARMUP: All PAX but Shield dropped in the plank with their ears wide open to listen to our brother Shield share his experience as an NYPD officer on 9/11/2001. This included the names of a few of Shield’s fallen brothers. Some of us have been fortunate enough to hear him talk about that day but every time I hear it, I take away something new. This morning was no different.
Following the plank, we mentioned a few numbers of significance for the PAX to think about:
9 & 11: This was obvious
22: Years since that day 22yrs ago
100: The number of days Ground Zero in NY smoldered
ALL PAX 100 Side Straddle Hops (50 in cadence) & 22 Burpees

THE THANG: Grab your bell and meet over by Clickbait’s trailer where we had more gear. Everyone has a weight of some kind for the following 9 exercises:
11x Kettle Bell Swings
11x Thrusters
11x Goblet Squats
11x Bent Over Rows
11x Overhead Tricep Extensions
11x Big Boy Sit-ups w/ Weight
11x Bicep Curls
11x Standing Lunges
11x Overhead Press

We went through these 9 exercises one more time and occasionally modified the cadence.

In groups of 4, we all got to experience the 200lb sand bags for 4 reps, taking the bag from the hips, to the shoulders, to an overhead position, back to the shoulders and finally, back to the hips. If we weren’t on the 200lb sand bag, we did the same evolution with our own coupon.

Then, back to 22 Side Straddle Hops & 11 Burpees.

MARY: Throughout
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Lots in the newsletter & THE BLOOD DRIVE
COT: Indeed

IronPax ’23 Week 0

IT’S IRON PAX SEASON!!!! Week 0 was a great reminder of what’s expected and how hard you will be pushed this month.

Week 0 was in honor of Gary R Wieneke, SP4, who served in the United States Army as an X-ray Spec with the 128th Evac Hospital in Germany from September 1955 to 1958. Mr Wieneke is the father of one of F3Greenwood’s own, Michael Wieneke, F3Brut. Mr. Wieneke passed away at the age of 83 and Brut created this workout in honor of him.
Aside from serving his country, Mr. Wieneke was a renowned track and field coach in the US. He coached the US Junior National Team. He was the head coach at the University of Illinois from 1967 until his retirement after the 2002-2003 season. Wieneke was a nine0time NCAA District IV Coach of the year, was named the NCAA National Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year in 1987 and garnered three Big Ten Outdoor Coach of the Year. He has been inducted into numerous different Halls of Fame, among them are the US Track and Field and Cross Country and University of Illinois Athletic Halls of Fame.
Behind the numbers
800 meters was his best event. He coached 11 different student-athletes to 27 Big Ten titles in this event
13 reps for the warm-up exercises represents the number of Big Ten Conference Championships his teams won
5 warm-up exercises represent 1 for each Olympic athlete that he coached
7 different exercises and the 8 burpees after each exercise represent the date he passed away – 7/8/2021
Format
Complete the workout for time
Need a 400-meter track or path marked out
Coupon is needed for this workout
Start the timer when the warm-up starts.
The Thang
Warm-up (performed in cadence)
13 reps of each exercise (all 4 count)
SSH
Imperial Walkers
Shoulder Taps
Mountain Climbers
Plank Jacks
800-meter run
85 reps of each of the following exercise. Perform 8 burpees after completing 85 reps of each exercise, including the KB Swings.
Hand Release Merkins
Big Boy Sit-ups
Goblet Squats
Dips
Overhead Press
4 count flutter kicks
KB Swings
800-meter run

The encouragement that happened throughout the workout was top notch. While this was terrible, we all finished. Seeing the list of things that has to get done, is daunting, we all made it to the other side. Don’t let the daunting task stop you in your tracks. You can preserver and overcome.

Great job gents!

Endless streams of Omaha at BlockParty

The freshness of downtown Fort Mills morning dew and mumble chatter was in the air.

An immediate Omaha was necessary, best way to do that is by running aimlessly while thinking of your next move.

Ran up the hill to the parking lot, quick fake out then continued moseying to WEP parking lot.

(WARMUP)

promised we will warm up muscle groups that we would not be using.

– MMNCs
– Peter Parker and Parker Peters
– @bandcamp like broga moves

Mosey aimlessly back up through the brick ledges where many Irkins, Derkins, Step ups, and dips have occurred in the past.

Made it to parking lot with large wall in front of pharmacy. Being stubborn or optimistic, decided to stick with the Weinke on this one but quickly modified then aborted.

THE THANG(S)

Believe this one is exicon worthy, a muscle up/toe tap Webb like exercise. The idea, 1 muscle up followed by 4 alternating toes on the wall motions increased accordingly.

Decided to break up group in half. One half start on end of parking lot and burpee broad jump to those doing the Webb. Rinse and repeat.

The mumble-chatter was growing, rightfully so, quickly abandoned mission after two rounds.

Off to the roads thinking up the next round with general direction from the weinke in tow.

Next stop, the iron cross

– start at Loom parking lot
– 25 Mike Tyson’s
– Run to 4 way stop, run up hill on Williamson st to lit parking lot
– 25 Appolo Onos (d/c in case wondering)
– Run to Fort Mill Church of God freshly paved parking lot, vandalized with chalk ( let the record show YHC did go and wash off with h2o following)
– 25 jump squats (you’re welcome battle bot)
– Run to FM town hall building (formerly comporium) on Monroe white st
– 25 merkins

Rinse and repeat

Little bit of Mary for the overachievers and COT.

MOLESKIN

The rep count was intended to enable PAX to focus on form but you can only lead a horse to water. The spring chickens gotta run, so let em run. Most got 2 rounds or almost 2 rounds with 3+ miles total.

The many leadership opportunities of Qing are invaluable, along with the ability to share a message. Discussed missionality and finding your HIZ along with helping your kids or others do the same.

It’s always a privilege to Q at The Forts premiere AO, where I have a deep gratitude for what F3 has done for YHC as my 1st AO. Thx @kermit for the nod.

WW1 Hero & 21s

WARMUP: Asked the PAX to hold plank while I read the story of the hero we were about to honor, read below:

Today we have the privilege to honor U.S. Army Sergeant Richmond Hilton. Richmond Hobson Hilton was born in Westville, SC on Oct 8, 1898. He joined the army in Westville, SC. and was assigned to Company M, 118th Infantry, 30th Division during WW1. On October 11, 1918, a couple of days past his 20th birthday, while fighting near Brancourt, France, Hilton’s unit was held up by intense machine gun and small arms fire. Sgt. Hilton recognized that the machine gun fire was coming from a shell crater just ahead of them. Accompanied by several other soldiers, but moving out well ahead of them, Sgt. Hilton engaged the enemy machine gun nest, advancing using his rifle until his ammunition ran out, and then continued advancing alone using his pistol. Sgt. Hilton took the enemy machine gun nest using only his pistol killing 6 German soldiers and capturing 10 others. During the course of his actions on that day, Hilton was wounded by an exploding shell, which resulted in the loss of his arm. For his acts of bravery Sgt. Hilton was awarded several medals from many different countries, including the Medal of Honor. After his discharge from the army he returned home to Kershaw County a hero. He joined the Civitan Club of Columbia, of which he as a proud member. Richard Hobson Hilton died on August 13, 1933 and was buried in the Old Quaker Cemetery in Camden, SC.

After reading was completed, PAX joined me on an approx. 1/2 mile Mosey with karaoke both sides for 15 yards, high knees for 20 yards and butt kickers for 20 yards. We ended where the tough part was to begin.

THE THANG: I did not find any WODs for WW1 heroes, but during my search I found a workout dedicated to the Unknown Soldiers. The number 21 symbolizes the highest symbolic military honor that can be bestowed: the 21-gun salute. So, the format was simple, 21 exercises – 21 reps of each exercise. Split the 21 exercises into 2 groups. 1st group was at the top of the hill by the pull up bars and the 2nd group of exercises was to be performed at the bottom of the hill. Simple -complete the 1st exercise at the top of the hill and then run down to the bottom and complete the next exercise at that location, when done run up the hill and continue down the list. Here are the exercises:
Top of the Hill:
Burpees
Pullups
Diamond Merkins
Chinups
Mike Tyson Merkins
Knees to Chest while hanging from the ba
Derkins ( feet on the curb )
Switch Grip Pullups
Peter Parkers ( count 1 leg only )
Straight lower leg raises into L position while hanging from the bar
Parker Peters ( count 1 leg only )

Bottom of the hill ( all of these exercises were completed with Cindy! )
Overhead Squats
CurltoCleantoPress
Goblet Squats
Swings w/ Cindy
Man Makers
Thrusters
1-arm bent over rows ( 21 reps each arm )
Dead Lifts
Big Boy Situps
American Hammers
MARY: Made it back to COT with enough time to complete 21 side-straddle-hops in cadence!
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Christmas Party, Christmas Eve Convergance, D2DB10K
COT: Lifted up the prayers of the PAX, asked for help to always be prepared to help and serve others.
