Clown Cars from the Fort for 1/1

Gentlemen (and the rest of you):

I can’t speak for everyone, but I can speak for me, so I will. On 1/1/16, all PAX of F3 Nation have been invited to celebrate the 5th anniversary of this crazy thing that has inspired so many of us to burn the ships (and our fat pants), to reach in out in service and love to our community (and to our F3 brothers), and to straighten our walk with the SkyQ (which for me = My Heavenly Father). For me, this experience has touched and helped to shape nearly every aspect of my character over the last year that I have been involved, and I look forward to the next 5 years to see what changes will come from my association with all of you.

That said, we are going to support this “ultra-convergence”, if you will, and clown car up to the celebratory workout on New Year’s.

Here are the details as I know them:
1. We will meet at 0600 with wheels up at 0610 at the Baxter Starbucks
2. The workout location is Alexander Graham (AG) Middle School in Charlotte.
3. The workout start time is 0700. End is 0800.
4. There won’t be a much better time to bring an FNG, than to this. SO EH SOMEBODY.
5. I am not personally aware of any formal coffeeteria plans immediately following the workout, but I am certain that there will be at least one or two happening, so I’d plan on spending that time there as well.
6. The link to the Pre-Blast is here: http://f3nation.com/2015/12/16/the-fifth-anniversary-convergence-1116/

Several of you have committed to driving a car of clowns up, but if there are more, please let me know @darkhelmetF3, or let me know if you’d like to go, but not drive (which is the camp I fall into… Ask Spiderman (@F3_Spiderman) or Whitesnake (@Raindawg), nobody wants me to drive).

AYE!

Helmet, out.

VQ with Mainframe @ the Swamp

Mainframe took the opportunity to lead and gave the PAX a hard workout on a balmy 56 degree day in December.  Here are his notes from our adventure…

The Thang

Mosey to Home Depot lot with some karaoke and high knees. Circle up. 25 SSHs, 15 IWs, 15 MCs, 10 inch-worm merkins, and 15 windmills.

Over to end of parking lot for Indian plank walking on curb. I picked a curb that was too short for the group so had to quickly find a different curb. Found a better curb for Indian plank walk down, run back to start, Indian crab walk down, then Indian plank walk back up to starting spot.

Mosey over to RiverBleu and realized that they recently installed barriers in front of the stairs. Quick audible to runs across parking lot. Toy soldiers over, jog back. Lunge over, jog back. Sprint over, jog back.

Mosey over to center fountain for four corners. 2 groups starting on opposite sides of fountain, each going through the four corners. At the corners: 15 donkey kicks, 10 spiderman merkins, 15 jump squats, and 20 LBCs. End at fountain for 20 step ups. Rise and repeat for 3 trips around.

Back to Best Buy for some quick ab work and then back to COT.

I want to thank Royale for encouraging me to lead this week. It was an honor to lead this group of men. I also personally want to say thank you to all the PAX that have pushed me to be better. Its a great feeling to be part of this group of men.

(I didn’t add that thanks in there…I promise!) Royale

Great job today Mainframe!

T.A.P with Purpose @ The Swamp

We couldn’t have asked for a better morning in December to get out in the gloom for a mosey around the Swamp in Steele Creek. Clear and 54 degrees.  We had a VQ trying his cadence today since #HIM “Puddles” raised his hand to start getting on the Q.  So I opened by sharing some of Santini’s recent backblast from the Thanksgiving convergence and kept with this month’s theme around PURPOSE.  If you want to read his full backblast you can find it here:

http://f3nation.com/2015/12/08/the-foundation-an-approach-for-2016-planning-him/

“It’s not an accident.  Men of purpose and impact are intentional about their lives. Men who become part of F3 start to explore the idea of Faith.  In many cases, this starts with asking questions like, “What do I believe?  What do I value? What is important to me?  Is there more than just writing a mortgage check?  Who can I share the things that concern me, scare me, or challenge me?”  These questions drive a man to assess his measure of impact in the world around him.” (Santini)

With that, I handed it over to Puddles to move us out.

Puddles took us on a mosey with a dynamic warm-up:

Butt kickers High Knees Side Shuffles Karaoke with 180 turn

Mosey to cut through behind Home Depot

COP (Puddles did great on his cadence)

20 SSH 20 WM 20 IWs 15 CCD 20 Merkins 20 MCs 20 LBCs

Took us to the Wall for Home Depot

People’s Chair : 11 men – countdown 5 seconds each.  Only Tater took the initiative to count UP not down.

Puddles handed it back to YHC.

Mosey to Rivergate Fountain.

Partner Up for Dora 1-2-3.

100 Derkins 200 Step Ups 300 LBCs while partner runs the small lap

Those step ups took longer than I thought…and hurt a lot more with the running!

Once the PAX all finished mosey to the grass island.  Here I finally gave them a break, and shared the 2nd part of the message I stole from Santini around T.A.P.

Thankfulness – Awareness – Planning

Thankfulness. I don’t do it well. But I think I know now how to approach it. It is an attitude of my heart. It is a state of mind and soul that allows me to see the world bigger than me. It is opening my eyes to new experiences, perspectives, and opportunities. It is in essence, mindfulness.

So, this year, as I move through Thankfulness, I will then continue into a process of Awareness. Awareness of those areas in my life personally, professionally, and beyond that need me to think differently. What are those 2 or 3 things if I took them out of my life would simplify or make it better? What are those 2 or 3 things if I added would enrich and open new doors?

Planning will soon follow as I reach the end of the year and develop intentional, meaningful, and impactful goals for 2016. Goals that when I’m done reading them I can answer the question, “So That….” If I can’t answer the question after writing a goal with a “So That” that makes sense, then I probably need a different goal.

And after that break, we started our Jack Webbs

1 Merkin to 4 over head raises x10 (Puddles personal favorite)

Mosey to COT

Announcements Gladiator Games 12/12 Christmas Party 12/19 Joe Davis 1/9 15 Mi run from Alcatraz Saturday 5:20am

Prayers for Tater and his wife Rachel since her father passed away Monday

Always an honor to serve.

So you ate a bunch of turkey and are feeling a little flabby. All that shopping to do but you need to burn a few calories first. After a brief explanation on some of the more popular origins of Black Friday (click HERE), YHC explained that the exercises of the Q would attempt to spell out Black Friday twice. I love it when everything on the weinke shows up in the workout. Rarely ever happens but Black Friday was a special day. I’m hopeful the PAX that posted felt they got their money’s worth. Gotta say it was a lot of fun listening to the #mumblechatter and hearing what the Pax thought the next exercise was going to be. Thanks to Gears for the lesson on planking and for almost hijacking my Q (see #ladder). He just wants to make you/himself better so it’s all good. Happy Birthday to Gecko, you’re one step closer to #RESPECT! Thank you to Cable Guy for the opportunity! Hopefully I made the cut and can get in the rotation (ie: don’t #blackball me). Thanks to all who posted and left everything at the Swamp! As you were!

Lastly, great 3rd F going on at CNW2 after the Swamp! If you can work it in to your schedule, you should post! It makes a great impact on my day and weekend!

Aye!

Here’s the deal:

This is opening weekend and the screen cannot be reserved.  The 3:50 time slot will sell out.  Call the theater or book on line for this show time.  Currently there are 230 seats open.  I anticipate our group to be atleast 100-150 ppl.  25-50 Pax each with kids.  Book ASAP…that is, after you finish booking your tickets for the Christmas Party.

Ahh – what a perfect morning for F3!  Cool temperatures, clear skies, and the trees lit up for the holidays.  The Swamp had a special feel to it this morning.  I am almost at a point where I am comfortable knowing my way around this AO, but it’s so big, I still had to do a pre-workout recon this morning to make sure I had my bearings.

We had a solid group today and everyone pushed through 5 rounds of box jumps, and the long suicides.  Well done, men!  It’s good to see a regular Steel Creek crowd out here.  Welcome FNG Dirty Bird, who was EH’d and named quickly by Royale.  Make sure to bring this guy back, my friend. It’s  a pleasure and  a privilege to lead the group,  and I look forward to my next visit to the Swamp.

Announcements/Prayers/Praises

F3 Xmas party – plenty of tickets left for this event.  You don’t want to miss.  The week of Nov 16 is our  ‘Welcome Back, Kotter’ week where we are inviting F3 who have been absent for a while to rejoin the workout.   Reach out to someone you know and get them back.  Read your newsletter and check Twitter for everything else.

Prayers for a young son with pneumonia.

The Swamp – Chalk Talk with Cake Boss…..Poet and didn’t know it!!

  • QIC: Cake Boss
  • When: 10/09/15
  • Pax: My video recording did not take, so will go off memory......Cable Guy, Corn Hole, Gecko, Senator Tressel, Lego Land, Gears, Cobra Kai, Royale, Puddles, Qwerty, Decibel,.....missing 2...my bad!
  • Posted In: The Swamp

14 PAX arrived on this fine Friday morning to see YHC coming in hot at The Swamp and thinking CB was sleeping late, however little did they know, I was preparing the AO for a full course of pain for breakfast.

No FNGs and all the PAX were regulars so no time for small talk so away we went!

The Thang:

Run around Best Buy and Petsmart to front of Home Depot for Warm up

25 Lunges, run to tree

25 SSHs, run to tree

25 squats, run to tree

25 IWs, run to tree

25 Monkey Humpers, run back to start

Rinse and Repeat 4 times

WARM UP OVER

Run to fountain area,

10 box jumps

20 Partner leg lifts

Partner Up – both do 10 Box Jumps (4 rounds) and then partner#1 does leg lifts while partner#2 pushes legs down (2 rounds of those)

At each park bench, do exercise and then run around far circle

15 Derkins, run circle

15WideDerkins, run circle

15 diamond Derkins, run circle

15 Derkins plank punch, run Circle

Run to front of TGI Fridays by Hwy 49

40 SSH & 15 merkins

YHC talked about the men from the mission trip and how we all had a common experience of how our schedules rule our lives and we are overwhelmed with busyness

Challenge to PAX was to focus on the Important things and not the “urgent” things. Don’t let life be ruled by the calendar of events, but the time with those who are most important.

Run back to Best Buy and Wall sit while waiting on the 6

Mosey COT

Moleskin: great PAX as always at the SWAMP. Cable Guy loud from both ends as usual, but I am appreciative of the Q and opportunity lead at a great AO.

Prayers and Praises were plentiful. Lots going on in the PAX. Please continue to pray for those that are sick and dealing with this broken world. Please lift up our brothers in Columbia and across the state of SC dealing with flood issues.

Peace!

Cake Boss

Loaves and Fishes… PAX please keep helping Columbia.

Loads, nay, tons of support has been poured out on the Columbia PAX, but we are far from out of the woods. Spiderman is trying to garner support for a Columbus day trip to help folks start the clean up process. There will be A LOT to do. If you’ve been following the news, twitter, etc., then you’ve seen the devastation. It’s not widespread like Katrina, but for those folks affected, it’s close to that level of devastation. We are also still taking donations.

SO DONATE! Bring supplies to your AOs tomorrow and the rest of the week: Dry food, water (LOTS OF WATER), toiletries, clothes, and especially blankets or other bedding. EVERYTHING and anything helps. If you can’t make that, then drop supplies by my house: 7183 Meyer Rd. (near The Coop) We will be taking more loads down tomorrow and all week long.

Thank you for your generosity thus far. Let’s keep it going.

Someone tonight as they were dropping supplies by said, “It’s not much, but it’s what we could do.” I said that a lot of “not muches” makes a whole pile of “somethings”.

It made me think of the stories of Christ feeding the 5,000; or the account of the Widow’s Mite. Men, let’s cast in what we have, add it to the growing stacks, and make a dent in the suffering of another human being. The little we can do WILL MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE. We are promised it is so…

Additionally, if you have the means and are so inclined, here’s the link to the GoFundMe site: http://gofundme.com/9x5mxfv8

Helmet out…
