New Office Tour

On what was the most humid day of the year so far, 9 pax got after it in the gloom. <@U01NGHPR2HW> asked that I give my “why” for F3. My why isn’t because of the workout or doing something that most ordinary people wouldn’t do or because it put me in the best shape of my adult life when I was called to donate a kidney to a friend, but it’s because of the group of men that create a community that cares about each other.
I know that if I don’t show up, someone will wonder where I am, how I’m doing, and truly care about me.
This is more than a workout group. It’s a community that I’m proud to be a part of. Keep posting, check on Kotters, and get more men into this group.
WARMUP: We mossey’d over to the First Baptist church parking lot to give us some room and some nice pavement to work from. Started with SSH, Imperial Walkers, Windmills, Merkins, Parker Peters
THE THANG: The OG Dora of 100 merkins, 200 squats and 300 LBCs. Followed that with a Jack (1/2 of a Jack Webb) of burpees and Overhead claps and then a Webb Jack of Mountain Climbers and Mack-tar-njais.
MARY: Ran back towards COT and then climbed the steps at the park before going back to Veterans Park for some box cutters and some flutters.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Bethel Men’s Shelter service on 7/3/26.
COT: Lots of prayers for families, jobs, and our group.

I told you there was an awning

It was a dark and stormy morning and all the pax of the Fort made their decisions, the red pill or the blue pill.

Most fartsacked.

YHC was prepared for the elements and taylored a workout accordingly. We first went and saved a Cindy from the rain and took her up to the awning at NaFo’s bus drop off. Then, the music was set (Octane Workouts) and the cards were shuffled.

Deck if cards where drawn and reps were done.
 = overhead press
:clubs: = curl
:spades: = squat with block
:diamonds:= Merkin
:black_joker:= 10 burpees (there were 4 in the deck)

After starting with a bunch of :diamonds: we knew it was going to get spicy at the end with .

There were also lots of spectators this morning as the basketball, football and track teams were going somewhere or doing something. I’m pretty sure they thought us old men were crazy.

Finished with some Marry and took Cindy back home.

Rain and lightning doesn’t have to stop you. Like they say, it’s only bad weather if you have bad gear, or don’t use your resources 😉

COT: Prayers & praises and YHC prayed us out.

Spoke on 5 core principles, all equally weighted however COT, it sets us apart from every other workout group.
Spoke on Mission statement, are we a workout group???
Spoke on Visions statement, be real about picking up the 6. Make it a point to offer an encouraging push. That next man may need it more than you know.

Appreciate the Q and the continual cross pollination between our 2 regions with all these HIMs. I encourage RH pax to take a trip north and you Fort pax to take a trip south every so often. A little flavor in your bland weekly routine is good every so often #zesty.

Thanks <@U061P7HUFRR> for the opportunity to Q <#C02PN2Z6QV8>!

D-Day – The Greatest Generation

D-Day (June 6, 1944)

D-Day:
D-Day was the Allied plan to launch a massive invasion of Nazi-occupied France, opening a second front in Europe to relieve pressure on the Soviet Union in the east and hasten the defeat of Nazi Germany. The Allies aimed to break out of Normandy, liberate France, and advance toward Germany, ultimately ending the war in Europe.
Phases:
1. Airborne Assault: Shortly after midnight, thousands of paratroopers dropped behind enemy lines to disrupt German defenses.
2. Bombardment: Pre-dawn air and naval attacks targeted German coastal fortifications.
3. Amphibious Landings: From 6:30 AM, Allied troops landed on five beaches (Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, Sword). Fierce fighting occurred, especially at Omaha Beach.
4. Beachhead Establishment: By the end of the day, the Allies had secured footholds on all beaches, though not all objectives were met.

Casualties:
– Allied: About 4,414 killed on D-Day (over 10,000 casualties including wounded/missing).
– German: Estimated 4,000–9,000 killed or wounded.
– Civilians: Around 3,000 killed.

Significance:
The Normandy invasion was a turning point in World War II, marking the start of the liberation of Western Europe and placing immense pressure on German forces. Elaborate deception plans misled the Germans about the invasion’s location, and extensive planning ensured the Allies achieved surprise and established a crucial foothold in France.

WARMUP:
– Mosey around the parking lot to the cinder block storage
– Mosey with a cinderblock to the bleachers
– SSH X20
– Windmill X10

THE THANG:
Phase 1 “Overlord”
• 1944m Run = ~1.2 miles = scale up to 5 laps on the track
Phase 2 “Airborne Drop”
• 60 Coupon BO Rows
• Run ¼ mile
Phase 3 “Omaha Beach

Phase 6 “Sword Beach”
• 60 Overhead Press
• Run ¼ mile
Phase 7 “Juno Beach”

Arms-Abs-Curls

I prefaced to the group that I had run 18 miles on Sunday, and I was not going to do any running today. It was all arms and abs. The music selection was provided by Sirius Octane Workouts. So, here we go.
WARMUP: Moroccan Nightclubs, windmills, merkins, stretching
THE THANG: 1 minute on, 30 seconds rest. The second timer app threw me for a loop to start as it tried to do 3 rounds of the same exercise to start and not go through the full set and start over 3x. So we started with 3 rounds of curls until I figured out it was off. I finally got it fixed, and we rotated through more curls, merkins, pull-ups, dips, big boys, lbs, overhead presses, American hammers, man makers, flutters, and bent-over rows. We did that twice and then started to run out of time, so I sent the crew on a run down the hill and around the parking lot while I put together a shorter one to finish out the morning. The final set included Knees to the chest on the bar, toes to bar, V-ups, chest press, merkins, and one more set of curls just to keep it spicey.
MARY: Freddie Mercuries, Hello Dollys
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Service-find something to get involved in.
COT: If you’re #1 not in a shieldlock, get in one. #2 If your shieldlock doesn’t have a dedicated time to talk, make it. In just a few weeks, my shield lock has really helped me in several ways by being able to talk to the group in a place of no judgment and support. When you can talk about it in a safe space, it can make it easier to have those conversations with those outside of the group that you need to.

Each pair took turns working their way to a rep count (the pax not doing the exercise various stationary positions. Once all pairs done, a moving exercise (out-and-back) was done by everyone. Then, we started the next round. The details of each round are listed below.

The twist for April Fool’s day is that before the moving exercise, a true/false question was posed to the pax. If the foreman answered correctly, an “easy” out-and-back exercise was done. If incorrect, a difficult out-and-back exercise was drawn from the “bucket ‘o pain”.
