Naturally Modifying Weinke at Slow Burn

11 PAX endured the experimentation of a naturally modifying workout.  My name.  Nothing official.  Goal was to allow those PAX that wanted to push themselves without holding them back or making the 6 feel like they had to overdo it to keep up.  More to come.

The work – Q picked a target.  All PAX would run for it.  First on there turns around and pickups all other PAX as he runs back to the 6. Once the groups reaches the 6, Q calls out an exercise.  Rinse and Repeat until COT.

Boss Hogg Issued a Challenge at the Ballroom and the PAX did not Disappoint!!!

Boss Hogg threw out a challenge to see how many PAX would show up at the Ballroom.  As usual, the PAX did not disappoint.  39 was the count.

Boss Hogg arrived in his all white Q outfit.  Disclaimer was given.  A quick message was given about the power of being an influencer.  PAX were reminded to always pick up the 6 and to encourage the guys around them.

The Thang:

Mosey to the center of the football field for a quick warmup:

  • 15 SSHs
  • 10 Windmills
  • 15 Imperial Walkers
  • 15 Cherry Pickers
  • 15 Hillbilly Walkers
  • 15 Gas Pumpers (THE Twisters favorite exercise)

Next was a Guillermo 1-2-3 (Dora’s little brother).  Similar to a Dora but PAX break up into two groups instead of pairing off in partners.  All exercises are done in cadence with a focus on form, not speed.

Exercises were:

  • 100 Overhead Claps
  • 200 LBCs
  • 300 Low Slow Squats

The other group started at the goal line, bear crawled to the 20, ran to the 50, did 1 burpee, and returned to the goal line.  Teams switched back and forth until all exercises were complete.

With the remaining time, the PAX moved to the track for some large dice fun.  One die contained the name of an exercise on each side.  The other 4 were used to determine the count.  Dice were rolled, exercises were done, and the PAX moved 1/4 of the way around the track.  This was repeated until the group had moved all the way around the track.

Time was up and the group headed back to COT.  Announcements were made.  Prayer requests focused on physical healing and marriages.  Due to the overwhelming support from the PAX in attendance, $1,000 was donated to Classroom Ready.

A great reminder to all PAX, don’t just be influenced but go out and be influencers!

Cindy shows up at Slow Burn

It was nice to get out into the gloom on Friday for a mildly foggy start at slow burn.  A little pre-work at the lower parking lot set us up for a back to the basics beat down.  Shout out to Twister for inviting Cindy to join us for the morning.  We started out with the disclaimer and intro and moved on to grabbing our coupons and moseying down to our first stop.

A quick call to circle up for our warm-up that encompassed:  Side straddle hops, windmills, Moroccan night clubs, imperial walkers, hill billie walkers, and overhead claps.

Now on to the meat and potatoes of the workout with a little 4 corners and our coupons.  Each corner had 5 exercises starting with 10 reps per exercise at each corner. We did the first 2 exercises and moseyed to the next corner with Cindy.  After the first round of corners we took a lap around the building to let Cindy get some rest.  Round 2 for the remaining 3 exercises at each corner.

Somewhere in between there we had a short plug for shieldlocks and the importance of having accountability with each other.  A very important part of leadership and growth.

Heads Or Tails

Friar Tuck put it out on Slack that he needed a substitute Q for Slow Burn today. No one had responded so I figured i would take my 2nd Q in a 2 week span. Im starting my taper for my upcoming 50k next weekend and figured it would be a great way to keep moving. Before we started workout i gave Trucker a coin and told him the fate of our workout rested in his hands. Heads was Dora 1,2,3 and Tails was Baxter stairs. It was tails so we moseyed to Baxter corner beside McAllisters.

Everyone grab a partner. One partner stays on bricks doing exercise while other runs across street up stairs across the front of building back down steps to relieve partner and flip flop.

We ended the workout 10 minutes early for some Broga. There was so much moaning and groaning going on from the Pax that it sounded like we where in the maternity ward at the hospital. Stretching is so much overlooked and we need to do it daily especially with what we put our bodies through. A Broga only AO will be coming in the near future.

Thanks for letting a trail runner Q today Twister. We got 1.71 miles in so it was a good all around workout.

Braving the “elements” at Slowburn

By now, it’s a well-traveled story about the threat of inclement weather for our Friday AM post at Slow Burn. Fortunately, 10 other men joined me as we decided to give it a go anyways. After some comments the perfect road conditions, attire and an assessment by Pusher, we circled up.

We got to our first spot for our oh, so creative warm-up in the Lowe’s parking lot:

Mosey to the Lowe’s wall (you know the one where we keep it vertical via our backs while in the seated position. Yeah, we did that but here’s the twist:
We started with a 60sec plank (plus/minus)
PAX on the wall and starting at one end, each man would come off the wall for 10 Merkins then return to the wall. We did that through our 11 PAX.
Another 60sec plank (plus/minus)
PAX on the wall and starting at one end, each man would come off the wall for 15 Dips then return to the wall. We did that through our 11 PAX.
Final 60sec plank (plus/minus)

LE TOUR DE WEP Dora Style

Great morning for a Q, my third one of the week, I was super pumped since my sidekick Sonic (2.1- 8 years old) accepted to take the lead roll and co Q with me.

This time I brought my battle rope and chatters started early, we welcomed all PAX. Drop Thrill was in charge of the milkshakers so off they went.

With the Bootcampers we grabbed the rope and moseyed/walked across the wet and cold grass to the playground for the warm up, many PAX whined about getting  their toesies wet but the idea is to get out of your comfort zone and accelerate, this is why you leave your fartsack every morning. We explained that we will move as a team and our team will be as fast as the slower PAX so we all encouraged each other to get better (this is what F3 is all about)

Warm up led mostly by Sonic:

I mapped the park on my phone for 15 stops and we run in between stops (picture attached), we used the walking trail to run around the park. The idea was to complete the following Dora:

100 merkins (4 stops x 25)
200 carolina dry docks (5 stops x 40)
300 overhead claps (6 stops x 50)

We went back to our starting position at the playground for some fun with the battle rope.

Our team was split into two groups for some Tug of war competition, PAX enjoyed this part as adrenaline kicked in while pulling the rope in a friendly competition. I’m definitely repeating this in my Q’s

.

We had abut 11 minutes left so it was time for our superhero visit and the crowd started cheering:

3 rounds of Superman to stretch the abs, honey mooners, downward dogs and tunnel of man for Sonic back and forth to finish our beatdown,

we finished our day running back to COT carrying the rope as a group.

We met with the milkshakers for namearama, announcements, prayers and praises.

Thanks to Slash for the opportunity to lead this great group of PAX, some of them I had only seen once or twice but it’s all about the camaraderie.

My 2.1 Sonic really enjoyed this as he does everytime he comes to F3 with me, all PAX welcomed him as one more of us encouraging him every minute, he’s only 8 but not afraid of the gloom.

Self Scouting and Kotter Fest @ THE Ballroom

17 (or 18) hearty Fort Pax unpartook of the fartsack to join their brothers at Ballroom. Amazed to see some Kotters (like Free Bird and Deep Dish) as I pulled in. Always exciting to see some of the boys come back to the Gloom just like it’s exciting when new faces show up. Bro hugs ensued.

At the appointed hour, Disclaimer was given and we were off to the other side of PKMS for:

Warm-O-Rama ; Seal Jacks, Merkins/Plank series/Imperial walker, Squats, LBCs. MNCs. Then a nice mosey to the football field for:

The Thang;

7 of diamonds – 7 Plank Jacks in each corner of the field, Bear Crawl to Goal Post then Lunge Walk. Run Length of field 2nd Lap- 7 Plank Jacks & 14 Squats- Got some of the newer Pax to call the cadence, getting ’em ready.

To the track – Partner up, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN -3 BURPEES/PARTNER. RUN BACKWARDS AROUND TRACK. Round 2-5 Bombjacks, but run forwards.

Some Words ON Self Scouting in the New Year- Take to time to look back at your year with an eye towards improving in some area in 2020. Learn form your past mistakes but don’t let them define your trajectory. Your History is not your Destiny.
