The Forts fastest AO

Tuesday July 12th seabiscuit becomes the Forts newest official AO. Join us in the parking lot of Blues smokehouse @5:15am at the corner of Doby’s bridge rd and the bypass. This is going to be a speed based running AO, geared towards improving overall speed. If you’re not fast, then this is for you. If you are fast, this is also for you. It’s kinda like Disney, there’s something for everyone.

The Final Countdown

Growing up, my dad had several inspiring quotes on his office wall.  One read “Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.”  This quote has been instrumental in my life especially in times of uncertainty or doubt.  My F3 journey started very similar to most, out of shape, in need of others to embrace the power of going through life as a community.  I was encouraged to participate in a CSAUP to stretch myself beyond what I thought I could do.

Anchorman here, speaking from experience, the encouragement of Change Order, Twister and The Chaser for my first CSAUP (mud run) was instrumental in my becoming more committed to The Fort. The impact is more than you know.

We wanted to create a team-oriented event where all pax could experience a relay similar to Dam to Dam.  Most pax have found it to be a positive 1st and 2nd F opportunity.  So, grab your two buddies, your shieldlock, or maybe that Pax you see working hard next to you who hasn’t ever done a CSAUP. Look them in the eye. Tell them he’s on your team. He can do three miles.

Here are the details:

Name:  The Final Countdown

Why:  The mileage of the relay gets progressively lower after each leg.  Real reason, who doesn’t love listening to ’80 hair bands.  If you listen to the song, you’ll be hooked.

Date:  September 10, 2022

Time:  0600

Team:  minimum of 3 Pax, if you don’t have a team, we’ll find one.

Relay details:   The first Pax will run 3 miles and return to the starting point.  The 1st and 2nd Pax will run 3 miles and return to the starting point. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd runner will run the final 3 miles.  Each route will be unique.  If you get lost, just run 3 miles and return back to the park.

Total miles:  3+3+3 = 10 F3 math   (Runner 1 – 9 miles, Runner 2 – 6 miles, Runner 3 – 3 miles)

The routes:

Leg #1https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/5043563176

Leg #2 https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/5043544048

Leg #3https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/5043537712

Routes can be downloaded using Mapmyrun App

Some FAQ:

Do all the teams run together?

All teams will start at the same time.  Each leg will end at Walter Elisha Park.  When the first runner on the team completes the first leg, they begin Leg #2.  Same for Leg #3.

Does everyone arrive at the same time?

It depends on your team.  It is important to get your team together to understand the time it will take to complete each leg of the relay.  Make sure you have ample amount of time to warm up before your leg of the relay.

What do the guys do while their teammates are running?

Stretch out, do burpees, or whatever you need to do to get ready for your run.  There will be bootcamp activities at WEP during the CSAUP but save your energy for the relay.

A Halftime Brew: Wed AM Coffeeteria

WHEN: Wed mornings
TIME: 0615 – 0700
WHERE: Carolina Ale House patio in Kingsley
LAUNCH: Wed, June 22nd

Weekday parking lot 2nd F is running hot the past few weeks with a break in school morning duties. It’s great to see the Glue flowing among the pax, right Crab Cakes?!

So let’s formalize it (sort of) with a weekly summertime mid-week morning outlet for that 2nd F boost you need to get you through the week.

Whether you just crushed a run at Clydesdales, got smoked at Ring of Fire, got walloped at Pantheon or need a jump start after that smartsack, head over to Kingsley with your favorite home brew or Starbucks/Panera cup a joe and sharpen yourself and your brothers — informally 2nd F style. You’ll be 1% better for it!

Quagmire moving to Earth Fare next Monday

Quagmire is relocating to the same startEx as sweep the leg. We have tried to keep a presence in the Steele Creek area for years since Lake Wylie launched as its own region and the PAX numbers have faded since. What used to be the middle ground has now became an island. I feel like a failure giving up on it but am greatful for the opportunity to have more time to coffeeteria after the workout and fellowship. Come out and have a cup of Steele Creeks finest coffee around Monday. See you in the gloom.

Ideal age range is: old enough to do the exercises/games — young enough to still be seen exercising in a park with their dad.

From the official F3 nation disclaimer:
Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a father or male legal guardian: by participating in an F3 workout, an individual assumes the risks inherent in doing so.

Weekly Q Source is back!

The men of the Fort embarked on a Q Source journey back in 2017 which embraced the Foundations and the 4 Quadrants all while instilling a common language amongst the Pax. YHC found this to be one of the most rewarding things during my time in the Fort and have referenced the learnings in Q Source by Dredd on many occasions.

After spending time reviewing the concepts for 2 years, YHC was pulled in other directions and while I referenced the content, it was not with the same vigor as 2017-2018. We were then introduced to #Acceleration by Anchorman and I felt a renewed spirit to discuss leadership and the challenges men face in our personal and professional lives.

Lately, I have felt the urge to revisit the content and begin the journey of self exploration of invigorating male leadership. I hope you will join me on this as we kick off weekly Q Source in the Fort.

The Thang

Tuesdays beginning 6/21/22

Baxter Starbucks

6:20 – 6:45

We will resume Q Source in the Fort and follow the F3 Nation weekly topics by beginning with Q2.6 Correction on 6/21/22. Moving forward we will complete the 2nd Quadrant and move into Lead Right. This will enable you to pick up the topics if you were to miss a week.

I look forward to our discussion #SYITG

The Misogi

  • QIC: Dark Helmet, Funhouse
  • When: 06/04/2022
  • Posted In: Pre-Blast

If you’ve never heard of it, I’ll try and lay it out for you… Misogi.
There are 4 rules to Misogi:
1. Don’t Die.
2. Make it REALLY hard. (#TWSS) Like a 50% chance of failure.
3. Make it weird. Don’t do the regular stuff. You’re better than boring.
4. Don’t advertise Misogi. No bragging after the fact. This is the ultimate You v. You.

I am proposing that once a month we participate in this CSAUP-esque event together. I will act as the “SiteQ”. Locations and times may vary. I will let everyone know what the challenge is, where it is, etc., and you can decide if you want to participate or simply come and observe/cheer us on.

The example that Michael Easter gave in his book “The Comfort Crisis” was this one: https://www.businessinsider.com/kyle-korver-misogi-challenge-2014-7

We aren’t doing that. But it will be terrible and it WILL push you beyond your limits. Look, we will get no better simply “coasting” (a myth) or by doing the same things all the time. We must step out and push ourselves to the edge in order to become what we are intended to become.

Join me…

Got questions? Hit me up. The announcement of the first Misogi is coming this week… keep your eyes open.

Have you not Q’d a workout yet in the Fort?
Have you not Q’d in a while?

Then you may be a perfect candidate for Q School.

Starting the Week of 5/16  we will be hosting 5 separate sessions of Q school throughout the Fort. Each Q school session will give PAX an overview on the fundamentals of being a Q and an intro into a specific type of workout.

It doesn’t matter if you are a seasoned PAX or a newcomer these sessions will provide important reminders and tips on how to execute a challenging workout.

What we’ll cover:

  • How to Prep
  • Safety
  • Disclaimer
  • Cadence
  • Workout Routines
  • COT/Naming of FNG’s
  • Backblasts

This year, for this first time we’ll be offering Q school with Ruck and Run options. This is an awesome opportunity to sharpen skills, learn new skills, and introduce yourself to workouts you haven’t experienced in the past.
