CVS, Walgreens..What’s the difference? 2 miles

WARMUP: Headed over to Walgreens for typical warm-ups (SSHs, WMs, IWs, CPs). Next we partnered up for a DORA (Merkins, Squats, LBCs). In error, I said for partner 2 to run around CVS which is 2 miles away. After the awkward silence, I quickly corrected myself and said Walgreens.
Next we moseyed to the wall behind the oil service place. Same partners, one ran around the building while the other performed an exercise (Step ups, Dips, Erkins)
I traveled to the back of Harris Teeter for wall sits. Pax on each end bear crawled out to the curb, 5 merkins, crawl bear back. Next round, lunge walk, squat, reverse lunge. We got to experience the aromatic scents of the trash barrel bottom.
We made our way to the front parking lot. Back to the partner exercises. Each team grabbed a boulder, +2 squat thrusters at each parking space line. Partner 2 ran to the second light pole and back. Each team finished at the 20 thruster mark.

THE MURPH – Modified or Not

WARMUP: Nope, just the reading of Lt Michael Murphy's Congressional Medal of Honor Citation.
THE THANG: Just the workout which, included with the Citation, is listed below.
You see, the MURPH often intimidates people. Why? Because it's difficult? Or, they can't do pull-ups. Let me share some personal experience and a hard truth we ALL know to be truth. We shall not allow the difficulty of a task to reign supreme over our desire to overcome it. Now, some of us have real injuries standing in the way. For those, we offered a modification, also detailed below.
CITATION
LIEUTENANT MICHAEL P. MURPHY
UNITED STATES NAVY
For service set forth in the following
CONGRESSIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR CITATION:
FOR CONSPICUOUS GALLANTRY AND INTREPIDITY AT THE RISK OF HIS LIFE ABOVE AND BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY AS THE LEADER OF A SPECIAL RECONNAISSANCE ELEMENT WITH NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE TASK UNIT AFGHANISTAN ON 27 AND 28 JUNE 2005.
WHILE LEADING A MISSION TO LOCATE A HIGH-LEVEL ANTI-COALITION MILITIA LEADER, LIEUTENANT MURPHY DEMONSTRATED EXTRAORDINARY HEROISM IN THE FACE OF GRAVE DANGER IN THE VICINITY OF ASADABAD, KONAR PROVINCE, AFGHANISTAN.
ON 28 JUNE 2005, OPERATING IN AN EXTREMELY RUGGED ENEMY-CONTROLLED AREA, LIEUTENANT MURPHY’S TEAM WAS DISCOVERED BY ANTI-COALITION MILITIA SYMPATHIZERS, WHO REVEALED THEIR POSITION TO TALIBAN FIGHTERS. AS A RESULT, BETWEEN 30 AND 40 ENEMY FIGHTERS BESIEGED HIS FOUR-MEMBER TEAM. DEMONSTRATING EXCEPTIONAL RESOLVE, LIEUTENANT MURPHY VALIANTLY LED HIS MEN IN ENGAGING THE LARGE ENEMY FORCE. THE ENSUING FIERCE FIREFIGHT RESULTED IN NUMEROUS ENEMY CASUALTIES, AS WELL AS THE WOUNDING OF ALL FOUR MEMBERS OF THE TEAM.
IGNORING HIS OWN WOUNDS AND DEMONSTRATING EXCEPTIONAL COMPOSURE, LIEUTENANT MURPHY CONTINUED TO LEAD AND ENCOURAGE HIS MEN. WHEN THE PRIMARY COMMUNICATOR FELL MORTALLY WOUNDED, LIEUTENANT MURPHY REPEATEDLY ATTEMPTED TO CALL FOR ASSISTANCE FOR HIS BELEAGUERED TEAMMATES.
REALIZING THE IMPOSSIBILITY OF COMMUNICATING IN THE EXTREME TERRAIN, AND IN THE FACE OF ALMOST CERTAIN DEATH, HE FOUGHT HIS WAY INTO OPEN TERRAIN TO GAIN A BETTER POSITION TO TRANSMIT A CALL. THIS DELIBERATE, HEROIC ACT DEPRIVED HIM OF COVER, EXPOSING HIM TO DIRECT ENEMY FIRE. FINALLY ACHIEVING CONTACT WITH HIS HEADQUARTERS, LIEUTENANT MURPHY MAINTAINED HIS EXPOSED POSITION WHILE HE PROVIDED HIS LOCATION AND REQUESTED IMMEDIATE SUPPORT FOR HIS TEAM.
IN HIS FINAL ACT OF BRAVERY, HE CONTINUED TO ENGAGE THE ENEMY UNTIL HE WAS MORTALLY WOUNDED, GALLANTLY GIVING HIS LIFE FOR HIS COUNTRY AND FOR THE CAUSE OF FREEDOM. BY HIS SELFLESS LEADERSHIP, COURAGEOUS ACTIONS, AND EXTRAORDINARY DEVOTION TO DUTY, LIEUTENANT MURPHY REFLECTED GREAT CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND UPHELD THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.

Failure will bring future success

Sometimes you have a plan and it fails miserably. This morning I loaded a cart with sandbags, kettlebells , and other heavy objects, over 320 pounds. I thought the weight would have enough resistance to challenge the person pulling it. Unfortunately, it was only challenging pulling uphill. Not a total failure, the cart held the weight it advertised as its capacity.
We ventured around the carpool path stopping for three exercises. Bent-over rows, curls, shoulder press, Simbas, flutters with press, over shoulder toss, man-makers are some of the exercises we did this morning.
I will retry this cart at a future Q and get it right.

On repeat

WARMUP: Yes:
SSH,
IW,
HW,
yoga w/
shoulder taps
peter parkers

THE THANG:
6 deadlifts
5 hang cleans
4 front squats
3 over head presses
2 manmakers
Then move!

We just did that on repeat. Like wiping down the counters, doing the laundry, dealing with traffic, or making the bed, some stuff isn't awful once or at first, but the monotony of having to do it day after day after day after day after day grinds on you.

Gotta build the strength to keep on keeping on. It ain't about what you WANT to do; it's about what you GET TO do, or what you NEED TO do. Often an authentic meaning is found in the work you've been avoiding.

AI Gone Wild

The talk of the morning was about the AI videos created by JWOW had gone off the rails. The conversation would take our minds off the wet and rainy weather.
We began with a trip around the park stopping at each swing for an exercise. We detoured twice out in the field to enjoy the moist grass. Next, we made our way to front of Pike Engineering where we did three rounds of dips, derkins, split squats. Short trip to the adjacent parking lot for three rounds of partner exercises, Partner 1 ran while Partner 2 did muscle ups on the brick wall.
Next, we bear crawled to the top parking lot, continue our journey to the parking lot across from the Donut Shop. We did a short version of concaine bear. Ran it backways, replaced merkins with CCDs.
We made our way to Print Shop for 10 good pull-ups. Back to WEP for a round of 7s and a bear crawl around the theater.
