Spanish Invasion comes to The Fort

@Cohiba ran on Puerto Rican time today at #ao-varsity. This also explains why @Bobber chronically pushes past 0515 arrivals. There were a lot of words; many of us understood very few. Let’s not allow cultural differences to impede F3 being OPEN to ALL men.

@Cohiba likes Big Boys
@Bobber understands more than he says, but when he’s in cadence it’s sweetly melodic
@Jazz Hands has invisible Big Boys
@Bitcoin counts well in many languages, and also likes Big Boys
@Boogie Down didn’t translate much for us, but could have
@Saw Dust apparently went of some kind of rant in name-o-rama
@Cousin Eddie spent the entire time confused (as did YHC)
@Mark Twain said something like: “Me da cólera” about the DORA. I just hope it doesn’t turn into dysentery
@Retiree wondered what he’d stumbled upon, but his buddy @chickenhawk was there to guide the way
@SouptoNuts put his Criminal Justice degree to work. Just like he does every other day, by being a more educated human
@HarryCarry was there early for “Ironing Pants,” but I might have misheard that. @CakeBoss and @Shield were helping. When you have to carry something that harry (hairy?), I suppose you need help ironing your pants? :man-shrugging:

You could spend the whole day wondering if you’ll fit within a new environment, read up on the lexicon, ask guys about procedure, examine backblasts, and consider where your priorities really are. But if you don’t set that alarm and get out of the fart sack…well: “too mah-leh-teen!”

This report is subject to verificación by @Punch List….if he ever opens slack again to check all these notifications
The names should be above

Fellowship at 7 – 11s

WARMUP: Not much. Did a quick lap around the parking lot then that’s it

THE THANG:
11s for 11 Years of The Fort
This was not a typical 11s workout, more like a mini board of pain. 11 rounds of 11 reps of 11 exercises. Do all 11 reps of each of the 11 exercises in a row, then run a lap, then repeat.
Exercises were:
1. SSH 2 ct
2. Merkins
3. Mountain Climbers 2 ct
4. LSS
5. Imperial Walker 2 ct
6. CDD
7. Plank Jack
8. American Hammer 2 ct
9. Flying Squirrel
10. Ski Abs 2 ct
11. Lunge 2 ct
>> Run a lap (about 250m)
>> Repeat
>> When all 11 rounds are done, celebrate with 11 burpees!!

During the workout, when we could breathe/talk, I asked each PAX how has F3/The Fort impacted your lives. We all know it served a need. There was a void or need of some sort that after being EHd you decided to answer and try to fulfill that need. The 1st F was the magnet, the 2nd became the glue, and the 3rd F, however you define it, made things explode. But it all started with a need we all had that we felt F3 could fulfill. That need turned into motivation, that motivation drove discipline, and the PAX you bonded with helped hold you accountable. Each of us shared our need, our why – what drove us to F3, and what keeps us coming back day after day, year after year. Inspiring stories for sure, and it helped us get to know each one of us better. Then I challenged each PAX to think about that, and look for similar signs in every guy you interface with on a daily basis. Do they have a need or why that F3/The Fort could possibly fulfill? It’s not just ‘sad clown’ syndrome, that is a great way to put it for sure, but what needs are not being addressed that F3/The Fort could help with?
We spoke in depth during the entire workout. It was awesome.
BUT…..due to time constraints we were only able to get 7 rounds in (maybe 6? we lost count). GREAT efforts and fellowship by all!

NOTE: This weinke WILL show up again and be made an hour workout….

100 yards of fun

WARMUP:
Quick mozy around the perimeter of the band practice area (parking lot/football field).  Brief warmup of mountain climbers followed by squats and plank jacks.

THE THANG:
– Partner leapfrog starting in the endzone with partner 1 lunge walking to the 10 yard line and doing 10 merkins.  He then runs to the 20 yard line.  At the same time, partner 2 does 10 merkins in the endzone then runs to the 10 and lunge walks to the 20.  Flip flop until full length of field covered.
– With minor confusion after round 1, we modified and returned as a group to the original start with bear crawls, jogging and 15 squats every 20 yards.

– Cones were then set out every 10 yards to the 50 with one exercise on each. Pax would run to the 10 and do 10 reps of the exercise shown, then run to the far end of the field to reach the next 10 yard line and repeat the exercise. Pax would then repeat coming back down the opposite side of the field and stop at each 10 yard line for 10 reps.
– After a full lap, Pax moved to the 20 and did 20 reps at each 20. Laps and reps increased until we reached the 50.
– Exercises and total reps completed:
– 10 yard line: 8-count burpees (40 total)
– 20 yard line: squats (80 total)
– 30 yard line: plank jacks (120 total)
– 40 yard line: SSH (160 total)
– 50 yard line: Merkins (100 total)

– With a little time remaining we returned to the end zone and bear crawled the length of the lot. At each 10 yard line we did 10 LBCs. (100 total)

– Closed things out by walking back the length of the field/lot to COT. On the walk we discussed empathy and the importance of understanding other’s perspectives to provide insights into their beliefs and actions. Pax was encouraged to apply it at home, work and while traveling on I-77 during rush hour.

In Honor Of September, 11, 2001

WARMUP: All PAX but Shield dropped in the plank with their ears wide open to listen to our brother Shield share his experience as an NYPD officer on 9/11/2001. This included the names of a few of Shield’s fallen brothers. Some of us have been fortunate enough to hear him talk about that day but every time I hear it, I take away something new. This morning was no different.
Following the plank, we mentioned a few numbers of significance for the PAX to think about:
9 & 11: This was obvious
22: Years since that day 22yrs ago
100: The number of days Ground Zero in NY smoldered
ALL PAX 100 Side Straddle Hops (50 in cadence) & 22 Burpees

THE THANG: Grab your bell and meet over by Clickbait’s trailer where we had more gear. Everyone has a weight of some kind for the following 9 exercises:
11x Kettle Bell Swings
11x Thrusters
11x Goblet Squats
11x Bent Over Rows
11x Overhead Tricep Extensions
11x Big Boy Sit-ups w/ Weight
11x Bicep Curls
11x Standing Lunges
11x Overhead Press

We went through these 9 exercises one more time and occasionally modified the cadence.

In groups of 4, we all got to experience the 200lb sand bags for 4 reps, taking the bag from the hips, to the shoulders, to an overhead position, back to the shoulders and finally, back to the hips. If we weren’t on the 200lb sand bag, we did the same evolution with our own coupon.

Then, back to 22 Side Straddle Hops & 11 Burpees.

MARY: Throughout
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Lots in the newsletter & THE BLOOD DRIVE
