Solo on Patrol

YHC was honored to Q the Dawn Patrol and appreciated the extra hour of sleep. Lately I have come to realize that 6+ hours is not enough particularly after 12 years of F3. YHC has made an effort to go to bed earlier but it’s inconsistent at best. That’s where Dawn Patrol comes in…

Rested and ready, I charged into Veterans Park past the Block Party pax and took off on a ruck at 6:15 sharp. Never dismayed by the lack of pax, yHC was reminded of back in the early days of The Fort when attendance was minimal at times and war stories are always the best.

The Thang
Mosey up Massey for the ruck ladder

Bent over rows
Merkins
Overhead press
Squats
Lunges

Mosey to sweet baby Jesus
Add another exercise

Mosey to WEP
Add another exercise

Mosey around WEP
Add another exercise

Mosey back to COT

The Q was terrible but the mumblechatter was fantastic.

The humidity was as high as the spirits this morning as we endured Wisdom by Walker and a couple solid bar jokes. I hope today’s workout was the hardest thing we do today, but most likely it won’t be. Maybe it’s a past due Honey-do list or a hard conversation with the M. When whatever that thing is manifests today or this week, I encourage you to attack it with the same vigor you attacked today’s beatdown. Do the hard thing today instead of letting it eat at you for weeks. You got this!

Dont Try This Alone

Decent weather brought out 6 Pax for an 0630 start. 2 more came in at 0632 after picking deer carcus out of Senator Tressel’s grill…but that’s another story.

WARMUP: Mosey around the park towards our destination, with some stops and work along the way. Destination was the vert ramp on the backside of the ball park. Two steep inclines opposite of each other was where we would spend the next 55ish minutes.
THE THANG: Partner up. Start at bottom of hills and each partner runs opposite way to top and back where you meet for exercises. Rules of engagement were you must run and rep together. Meaning if you run back to the bottom and your partner isn’t there yet you keep running to bring him in. When one partner had all the reps they could take (or you were done with the exercise) then you take off running. No rest/cheerleading here. Exercises were as follows:
– 50 Burpees
– 100 Donkey Kicks
– 150 Squats
– 200 LBC
– 250 Shoulder Press

Pax got done quicker than expected so we got some extra credit in the form of NURing up each hill twice and going through the exercises again, albeit smaller rep count. Same rules applied – we nur and we do the reps together.
MARY: BROGA
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Important stuff
COT: Priceless

NMM: Was great to be out leading this morning after a week or so of laziness and not posting. Pax were encouraged to lean into the 2ndF of this great thing called F3. Rather that be shieldlock, whetstone, coffeteria, taco Tuesday or any other form formal or informal. As men we tend to be loaners or surface level with other men. You are missing a HUGE benefit of F3 if you’re not accelerating 2ndF.

Was truly an honor. Divac out.

The average age today was 48 with Hash Brown being the youngest at 26 and Twister/Short Sale being the War Daddies at 60. Today was a great example of the gift we have in F3. Many men live an isolated life of loneliness lacking friends and connections. They have lost track of school or service buddies years ago and Covid decimated their work and convenience relationships. What they are left with is time and no one to spend it with. That’s why F3 matters. We have true friendships that add value to our lives. We have a brotherhood of men that are older, younger, richer, and poorer. They don’t always look like you, vote like you, attend your church, or pull for your favorite team. And you know what, we are all better because of it. That’s why we have to share what was first given to us. EH that guy down the street. I promise he will appreciate the request as soon as he realizes you have what he needs. Be that guy for the guy that needs what you have.

Aye!
Italian Job
