Tasting and fellowship for a cause

PAX:

It’s been talked about for months and, finally, will come together.  Here’s the format:

Date to gather – Friday, June 11, 2021

Time to gather – 1800 to 2100

Place – Reserve at Gold Hill Clubhouse 631 Quicksilver Trail

What to bring – Three things:  1) A chair, 2) If you’re tasting bourbon, a bottle to share with fellow enthusiasts.  if you’re tasting hops and barley, a 6-pack or growler/crowler to share.  If you are doing neither and are tasting water, YHC will have you covered.  And 3) A recommended donation of $50 (or whatever you are comfortable kicking in) which we will collectively donate to the charity of our choosing.

YHC will have catering from Moe’s provided.

Why are we doing this – It has been said to those whom much is given, much will be expected.  As leaders, our obligation is to pay it forward or, as we say in F3,  give it away.  As we roll into summer, let’s use this evening to celebrate great fellowship, our blessings and the chance to be a positive force to a group in need – whomever that ends up being.

I look forward to seeing you there!

June FNG Jamboree

Prepare yourself to get uncomfortable for the greater good of the community. We always brag about how tough we are and how we are not afraid to do “Hard Things” with our bodies to strengthen our 1stF; but how about we challenge ourselves to get uncomfortable by asking dudes to come out and join us in the gloom. Official rules and scoring will be presented in the near future.

In summary, we are challenged with the task of giving this thing we call F3 away in order to invigorate male community leadership. We need to get guys out and in shape, so they can help other men to better our community.

WHO: All Pax

WHAT: FNG drive!

WHEN: Month of June 2021

WHERE: We will be competing between AO’s located within the Fort region to see who can bring out the most FNG’s in the month of June.

WHY: What we have in F3 is amazing and there is a pandemic of sad clowns that need to be unshackled. We will not get to 250,000 men by 2025 if we don’t add them one at a time starting now.

Again Official rules and scoring will be presented in the near future.

UPDATED RULES AND SCORING BELOW:
YHC has gotten his matrix on and made a fancy little workbook to keep track of the points per AO and it should even give a visual plot if everything works out as planned. But as Iron Mike says the plan is probably going to change once someone punches me in the face. So the format is simple. Every AO for himself. This makes the siteQ’s in charge of their site’s performance. I know some of you know that it’s not fair that some locations have more pax than others. Well, that’s true and life ain’t fair princess so get over it. But in an effort to encourage more participation we will have two winners, the outright winner, and the normalized winner. The normalized winner will be the site that has the highest point total after being normalized for the average attendance compared to the average attendance for an AO for that day of the week. Don’t worry Trucker its just math for all of us to try and catch up to you.

So here is the point breakdown:
FNG 1st time posting: 1000 points
FNG 2nd time posting: 1500 points
Cotter : 500 points
VQ : 250 points
Downrange Post : 200 points

To start this party off I will post the spreadsheet on google drive and share the link but if we run into issues I am prepared to put the data into the sheet myself for the first week. If the site Q’s will make sure I am informed of the FNG’s that will help get you credit for your site.
Sample worksheet and chart shown below, hopefully.

JuneFNGJamboree_TheFort2021

*New Kids for F3 dads don’t count for the F3 FNG but its a great introduction to getting them to post kidless later on in the week. Spam the crap out of those classroom email lists before the school year ends fellas. Whats the worst that can happen….don’t answer that.

I will be challenging siteQ’s to encourage PAX to get outside that bubble of friends you normally hang with and give this gift away. Imagine where you would be if you were still a sad clown.

Stay frosty my friends,
Olaf

Respectable Beatdown

We had 10 men, including an FNG show up on Saturday for the workout at WEP.  After the disclaimer, we jogged around the park to the parking lot on the corner of Ardrey Street.  We did the following warm-up exercises:  SSH, Imperial Walkers, Windmills, and Plank Stretches.

Next, we ran down Ardrey Street and took the path down behind the park.  I explained to the Pax that Fort Mill has some of the best cross country runners in the state.  They train at WEP each summer by running laps around the park and running hill repeats on the hill in front of us.  I added 10 merkins at the bottom of the hill and 10 squats at the top to break up the running.  Our FNG was in front of the PAX each lap, he also wore a cross country t-shirt.  We thought Hot Wheels was fitting based on his efforts.

We headed back to the playground for the hand-off to Rebel.  Rebel quickly transitioned the workout to a partner Murph.  Partner 1 ran to the statue on the hill and back to the playground while Partner 2 started the exercises (100 Pull-ups, 200 merkins, 300 Squats).  Lots of encouragement and hand slaps as we knocked out the exercises.  Once complete, we ran around the park as a group, caboose  to the front.  We had enough time to do a few ab exercises before time expired.

Great job everyone!

Burpee Bizarre

We had 11 men show up on Wednesday at Pantheon.  After the disclaimer, we ran around the parking lot to get the blood flowing.  Next, we circled up for some warm-up exercises (SSH, Imperial Walkers, Windmills, Plank Stretches).

We began the difficult part of the workout.  For the next 10 minutes, we would do 10 burpees each minute with a five second rest in between each set.  After completion, we ran around the big loop to the front of the school.  We did a series of exercises in cadence (Squats, LBCs, Lunges, Flutters) running between the cross walks after each one.

Next, we returned to the top of the parking lot and repeated the 10 minute burpee exercise.  It was difficult, but most completed the burpees, a total of 200.

Great job by everyone.  Today we showed how much we can do when you are surrounded by others who want to improve themselves.

Covering ground at the Pit

My apologies for breaking my own self-imposed 48hr Backblast rule but I appreciate the grace. It’s been a few weeks since my last time leading men from the Q spot so it was good to be back. What did we do? I’m so glad you asked:

Disclaimer and Polaroid took the BC’ers while the KB’ers stayed with me.
Your typical warm up exercises and some pretty good chatter if I remember correctly. If I don’t remember correctly, there’s a chance you don’t either.
Next, we did an atypical thing, we ran around the school…without the KBs. That was a 1mi warm up.
5 Man Makers with the KB
10 KB Swings / 20 lunges (10 ea leg) / 30 Curls (15 I/C)
Run down to the bottom of the hill. 5 Burpees. Run back up. 5 Burpees

10 KB Swings / 20 Leg Raises w/ KB at a 45 / 30 Flutters w/ a press
5 KB Man Makers / Run down to the bottom of the hill. 5 Burpees. Run back up. 5 Burpees

2min Plank
10 Very sloooooow squats I/C / 20 Thrusters / 30 Calf Raises

2min Plank / 5 KB Man Makers

Thanks for the invite.

Varsity Peer Pressure

I thought I had it timed where I’d roll up at 5:02 and miss the pre-run that Splinter had slacked out the night before.  However, I must have been driving a little to fast and got there at 5:01.  So what did I do…Yup a pre-run.  Wasn’t much of a headlock though he asked and I didn’t have a good excuse lined up so there ya go.  Enjoyed it though having a little convo with Splinter solving world problems.  We were so into it we had to kick it up a knotch speed wise as we rolled up right at 5:15.  Wouldn’t ya know Backdraft was there waiting so I had to kick it in with a brief disclaimer and full out mosey to keep it on time.

Out into the gloom we went for our first stop and the warm up.  SSH, Mtn. Climbers, Windmills, Moroccan night clubs, Imperial walkers and hill billy walkers.  Now on to the meat & potatoes portion of the workout.

We did 5 rounds of HIIT 3 minute exercises (10,15,20) with a Rebel favorite Burpee stack.  Ask him about it.  Followed by lap round the playground in between rounds.  Started out with shoulders, merkins, mtn. climbers and shoulder taps for 3 minutes.  Lap around the playground.  Second round was abs with Big Boys, American hammers and flutters.  I tried to forego the burpee stack but gave into peer pressure again.  Next round was legs, squats, monkey humpers, and calf raises.  Round 4 was SSH,  overhead claps,  and Moroccan night clubs.  Pax choice was round 5 and we ended up with abs.  Mosey back to COT and 10 burpees to finish up the workout.

Thanks Splinter for the opportunity.

NMM:
Proverbs 12:24
Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in forced labor.

We’re not being physically lazy out in the gloom, but I KNOW there are aspects of my life where I am lazy. That laziness forces me into positions I have to work to get out of. For example, not keeping regular track of my finances, or being a lazy parent by allowing something my boys are doing to get out-of-hand. In either of these situations, I’m forced to act because my laziness pressed the situation until I had to respond. And too often, my response is poor. Better to be prepared and diligent in handling the situation.

COT
Prayer for today: Lord, I know I don’t need to constantly work hard in every aspect of my life, but embolden me to be diligent. And make me wise enough to see the difference between “working hard” and being “diligent.”
Praise for one soon-to-be less occupied (in-laws…) house
Prayers for a father-in-law’s impending passing; anxiety over legal situations
