Do The Work – Get Sore

WARMUP: Run almost 2 parking lot laps then circle up at the base of the hill at the entrance of the school property.
Typical warm culprits: SSH, Merkins, Squats, Wind Mills
THE THANG:
50% effort run to the stop sign at Whites Rd, 25 Merkins
Run back to the start, 20 Squats
75% effort run to stop sign, 15 Carolina Dry Docks
Run back to the start, 10 Jump Squats
100% effort run to the stop sign, 5 Diamond Merkins

Mosey past the start and continue to the parking lot adjacent to the stadium entrance for a bear crawl accumulator.
Bear crawl 3 parking lot spaces then 2 Carolina Dry Docks
Bear crawl another 3 spaces then 3 CDDs.
Bear crawl another 3 spaces then 4 CDDs.
Continue the trend until the end of the lot.
3/4 of the way through this evolution, I was reminded of a message that has been ringing in my head frequently. I shared this with the PAX:
“Everybody wants to be strong but nobody wants to be sore.”
This is a reference to wanting the hardship to pass while reaping the rewards of the finish product. As we all know, growth happens in the journey, long before you reach the finish line. Embrace the soreness.

Now, crawl bear back to the starting line then make our way to the goal line on the football field. We’ll be performing a modified “corners” evolution.
10 Flutter Kicks I/C, Run across the field to the other side of the same goal line for 10 Flutter Kicks I/C, Run 100yds to the other goal line but on the same side of the field for 10 Flutter Kicks I/C then across the field for 10 more Flutter Kicks I/C.
Now, run to the 20yd line and execute the same evolution while performing 10 American Hammers I/C at the stops.
Now, run to the 40yd line with 10 LBCs at the corners.
Make our way back to the start for a 100yd sprint then a 100yd NUR back.
Make our way back to the parking lot and run back to COT with a few stops for a Merkin variety along the way.
Lastly, 1min elbow plank hold.
Remember, don’t shy away from doing the hard work in life and embracing the soreness. Additionally, don’t assume you’ll get a fresh start to tackle a challenge because after all, nobody cares what you can do fresh.

Winging it at the Corral

WARMUP: Quick mozy then mountain climbers, Moroccan Night Clubs, CDD and for the crowd pleaser….SSH
THE THANG: Due to technology issues, the scheduled Q wasn’t there so we winged it and the backblast is unlikely to be fully accurate. I probably should have completed this backblast right after the workout but, oh well.
After warmup we jogged to the side of the Harris Teeter for wall sits. The Pax took turns bear crawling out and doing five merkins while the others stayed “seated”. Burpees then followed the merkins.
Mozy to just in front of the Dollar Store for 11s. We took requests and Senator suggested Diamond merkins and Kermit chose bomb jacks. Laps went from the Dollar Store to the Indian restaurant at the other side of the parking lot.
Once completed, we returned to the side of HT for BTW countdowns, overhead claps and likely other stuff I don’t immediately remember.
With time remaining, we did mini 7s running from the side of HT to the other side of the street. (Again, I’m not recalling what exercises we did but we took requests for inclusivity)
With a few minutes remaining we returned to COT for boxcuttahs, hello Dollys and flutters.
Despite no actual plan, it turned out to be a good beatdown and everyone got something out of it.
MARY: Yep
ANNOUNCEMENTS: All the usual stuff
COT: Kermit’s friend and her health, quality time with kids.

Angry Assassin

5 pax enjoyed buckets of pain around Kingsley, launching from the amphitheater for today’s version of Dawn patrol. Angry, being awake since 3:30, I tried to take it out on the guys just a little but it was child’s play for everyone except for the excessive burpees.

We did announcements that we have all read from the newsletter. We lifted prayers for aging parents who need attention, family members who are struggling with some stunning news, and friends/co-workers who are suffering. Importantly, we also prayed for our children.

Almost an “SWF”

It’s “Varsity” so I took the approach that we’d essentially cut right to the chase. Out of my own need, we needed a little bit of a warmup. So…
WARMUP: Run a bit then circle up:
The typical hits: Windmills, SSH, Squats, Merkins

THE THANG: Grab a cinder block and post up at a pull-up bar as our home base. We had 4 points of interest we’d travel to after completing 5 Dead-Hang Pull-Ups (DHPU) each time, more details below. Some PAX were more “dead” than others on their pull-ups…IF you know what I mean. Here was the order of events:

1. (5) DHPU, hoist the cindy overhead and walk down the hill, make a left into the parking lot for (10) Man Makers, (10) Thrusters, (10) Leg Lifts. Travel back to the bar with cindy overhead.
2. (5) DHPU, leave the cindy and run down the hill make a right and stop at the start of the circle. Bear crawl the circle then (10) each leg Spiderman Merkins, (10) 4ct Mountain Climbers, (10) each leg Peter Parkers. Run back to the bar.
3. (5) DHPU, leave the cindy and run to the stop sign at A.O. Jones Road. (10) Diamond Merkins, (10) Regular Merkins, (10) Mike Tysons. Run back to the bar.
4. (5) DHPU, leave the cindy and run to the entrance of the band practice lot. Modified Jack Webb to include 1 Burpee:4 Carolina Dry Docks. We went up to 5:20. Run back to the bar.

That concluded the 4-corner portion but we still had a little left in the tank and a little time on the clock.

With Cindy’s
(15) Curls
(15) Overhead Press
(10) Simbas (Thanks Rafiki)
(10) Toe Touches

Drop the cindy’s back at their rightful home and mosey to COT for a little bit of Mary.

MARY: Included above
ANNOUNCEMENTS: All about the Fast 5 for Luke tomorrow.
