Varsity Level Prison Workout

WARMUP: Sasquatch led the pax through a Broga session, under cover as promised but no less stretchy than his usual job making the pax hurt so good!

THE THANG: The AO was set up for wet, muddy pain with blocks and bricks. Mother Nature decided to throw electrically charged javelins at the Pax so we audibled to work under cover for 15 mins. Twister validated safe status for getting out in the open, then just as we put hands to the heavy things Mother Nature three another spear our way. Pax hauled gear back and the workout resumed undercover.

Here’s what we did:
Burpees X10
Bombjacks X10
Donkey kicks x10
Shoulder taps x10 IC
…rinse & repeat…again and again and again and…

COT: Thanks to the pax for enduring “the prison workout” as Twister called it. Quite appropriate since my theme for the planned weinke that never got unleashed focused on the Mental Battle. I’m very guilty of living in my head way too often, which leads to me becoming a prisoner in my own mind. staying in one spot under threat with grueling repetitive work is an even greater mental battle than the physical grind. Everyone pushed through including all the reps with inspiringly few groans…this is a tough group! and the toughness comes because of the group. I know I wouldn’t have knocked that out solo, so thanks for being there and pushing yourself and me. great work!

It being Memorial Day, we closed out with a challenge to remember someone who has passed during the drive home (vet or not). I’m grateful to have another day and grateful for those who’ve touched my life here and continue to touch me from the other side.

thanks to Bodywash. Honored to lead!

Being Grateful…. And Burpees

WARMUP: Haha no warmup. We ran .25 miles.
THE THANG: We ran in .25 increments from the Ranch shovel flag across Springfield Parkway and and continued running on the Carolina Orchards sidewalk.

Every .25 we did the following exercises:

Burpees
Squats
HR Merkins
4-CT Flutters.

Reps increased by 5 every stop. So at the 1 mile mark we did 20 of each exercise.

On the way back we decreased the reps back down to 5.

With 7 minutes left I did a 5 minute EMOM with 5 Burpees 5 Squats and 5 HR Merkins so we got to 100 (actually 105) reps of each exercise.

We were all able to get back to COT by 6:00.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Murph this Monday. Sasquatch will bring bands to help PAX as needed with the pull-ups.

COT:Prayers for health..mental and physical. Prayers for the country.

Training Wheels Memorial 48

What started with pedestrian talk of mammon, marriage and marijuana quickly turned to gambling, clean crack pipes and vomit inducing beer laps. Suffice it to say, awesome.

Next 2nd F opportunity? Friday lunch at the flying Baxter turtle or somesuch. Show to know!!

Deck of fun w/insurance

Started w/some stretchy things then mosey down to MS for 20 merkins, 20 squats, and LBC. Mosey for a while, 15 of each, mosey then 10, mosey some more for 5 each.

Deck of fun w/insurance:
♡ = hard release merkins
♧ = jump squats
◇ = big boys
♤ = monkey humpers
Ace=1, cards 1 – 8, do the reps at each of the three lines, suicide run style
9 – K (13 for those that are challenged), only do the rep at the far line
Each person pulls 2 cards. Before pulling cards PAX can decide if they want insurance. 5 burpees for insurance. If you take insurance and pull 2 high cards, group only does half of reps. But if one low and one high card then group does everything.

I think we made it through about 2 rounds. PAX took insurance about 75% of the time and it paid off 0% of the time. Anyway, something different to try and blend some running in with the normal deck of Death.

Also, not sure about Slash’s new diet but he needs to cut down on the fiber. Thank goodness we were outside and there was a breeze!

Are you attacking the day or dreading the day?

Abram…aka Abraham settling in bethel was halfway from AI (dump) and God’s eventual permanent place for him
We are halfway from our past and our permanent and eternal destination….are you looking forward?? Are you ready??
Get your mind and spirit right!

8 From there he moved to the hill country on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. And there he built an altar to the Lord and called upon the name of the Lord.

Helping your brother bear his burden

WARMUP: SSH, Morrocan Night Club, Down Dog, Up dog, Merkins, Seated Surfers, KB squats

THE THANG: We began with a short mosey to the curb and back. Picked up our bells and lined up on a line in the parking lot. 50 man makers were called. It’s a lot. And it’s reminiscent of many of the burdens we carry. The PAX were challenged to push through and persevere. In turn, any PAX who finished was tasked to go take the bell of his brother and lighten the load. Demonstrating how we share the load with our brothers in need. No one goes alone.

After the glorious man makers, we moseyed to a more lit area for some station work. There were the following stations in a circle:
+Split Leg Squats 10 each leg
+Single Leg Deadlifts 10 each leg
+Calf Raises 20
+John Deere(lat pulls) 10 each arm
+American Hammers 20 IC
++The method of movements were bear crawls and overhead carries.
We completed 2 laps around the circle or so before COT.

COT: Praises for the acceleration of the Fort and the leadership were shared. Thanks for the opportunity to Q and participate in Q school week.

Stay Focused – Q-school edition

11 Pax this morning with more seasoned vets and less newer members than expected. A good thing for me as a newer F3 PAX, I knew I could delegate some of the portions of the Q school lessons for the day!

Fishstix brought two left shoes so decided he would just do this workout without any shoes…. I think we finally found a way to slow this HIM down!

WARMUP: Slapshot started us off with a brief intro for Q school, emphasizing how the workout Q is essential to the F3 mission. The importance of the disclaimer was discussed reminding PAX that an FNG likely doesn’t know what an FNG is, so good idea to ask if there are any new guys instead.

Slapshot finished his portion of the Q with an impeccable example of how to take control of the workout and lead the PAX by altering and dictating pace of SSH cadence calling.

YHC took over and led the PAX down to Dave Gibson to the IvyBrook Academy parking lot. There we planked and performed some shoulder taps while discussing warmups (or lack thereof at most running AOs)

Continued on down Dave Gibson to the entrance of the schools where we performed SSH and then Al Gored while discussing some important components of successful workout designs – Overpreparing, Writing down Weinke, Having quick hitters in your back pocket in case finish early (tabata, EMOM, etc)

THE THANG: Mickey Mouse Burpee Sandwiches

station 1 (near end of school drive): Wide-arm Merkins
station 2 (far end of school drive): Diamond Merkins
Mid-point: Burpees (always 5)

Progressive circuit – start with 3 reps of merkins on each end with 5 burpees in the middle. next round 6 merkins each side with 5 burpees in middle. continue adding 3 merkins to each side.

We SSH for the 6 at station 1 after each round and discussed various components of successful workout designs (pearls on a string, 3S2T, time-boxing, etc)

Made through 4 rounds and headed back to Earthfare lot.

With about 4 minutes to spare we did a little running around the parking lot with 5k pace on the shorter parking lot sides and jog pace on the longer sides.

Finished at 0600

COT: Announcements – Bourbon Tasting fundraiser Saturday – see Cyclops posts on Slack

……..oh yeah, if you haven’t heard….. I may have forgot the shovel flag this morning after the workout. This should be fun….
