A Celebration Trip to the Islands

WARMUP: Tried and true — SSH, Windmill, Mtn climber, down dog, up dog, etc. mosey to Lowes
THE THANG: Pax mustered near island at far entrance of Lowes. Completed a routine of doing some form of upper body exercise x15 at front Island, moved in j varying forms to next island away from store for some core exercise x15z then returned to original island and planked. Then we moved to the next set of islands.

During each plank session one pax shared a personal note of celebration for the day, ranging from a VQ to a wife’s return home from 2 weeks of travel to a 2.0’s successful landing of a new job.

After doing all sets of islands, we moseyed to the end of the retail strip and pax formed two teams for a relay race of bear crawls and crawl bears.

Mosey home.
MARY: included throughout
ANNOUNCEMENTS: yes
COT: yes as always

I love the spirit and energy at Slow Burn and the pax didn’t disappoint. Lots of mumblechatter and laughs for 45 mins. Not only is this season dark, cold and heavy but the general tone in the world seems the same. Grateful to see the pax take timeout to celebrate and identify an area of light in their life.

We’re called to be the light amid the darkness. Go light the way men!

Thanks Peach Stand and congrats on 3 yrs in the Gloom!

Cold buckets

WARMUP: We did a few things
THE THANG: One bucket at the bottom of the hill, one at the top.

The PAX enjoyed selecting pre printed slips of various exercises to execute and perform to perfection. The slips did not include anything too miserable for a 18 degree morning so we believe all survived. A nice coffee was provided postgame by <@U06RH8NQ44A>
MARY: SSH’s while Pusher retrieved the distant uphill bucket.

<@U035XDY7ABC> provided encouraging anecdotes from his recent trip to train awesome friends in Cuba  <@U04GQT8NQ4C>
ANNOUNCEMENTS: A few
COT: Praise for those in Cuba, for grandchildren, and for the Lord giving us the privilege of being alive in His creation in the pre dawn 18 degree air.

Minnow Party

Lots of people showed up, unfortunately they got me on Q. Original plan was to run with merkins to Riverview elementary school, but with so many pax I decided to stay local. Plan was to run around town with Jack Webb. We began with five merkins and twenty overhead claps. Twelve stops around town increasing the rep counts by one and four respectively. Added some additional exercises (Squats, lunges, calf raises) while we waited for the six to arrive.
Total count: 126 merkins, 504 overhead claps.
we had time for a pairing sprint up the Massey hill.

Locked gates brings pole work

We found the football field/track LOCKED for the first time in years, so the weinke was modified. We made it work at this “moderate” AO with getting in around two miles of running, sprints and a little mall walking using the light poles.

All enjoyed dishing out advice to one of our newest pax and today’s war baby Cliffhanger, whose wife is expecting.

For those of us with older kids in various stages, we have many things to ponder as they grow older and wisdom to pour out (when asked for.)

Prayers up today for our kids, aging parents and a few pax going thru some struggles and challenges.
