Slow Cookin’

WARMUP: Disclaimer and mosey around the Lowes campus. Circle up in about the middle of the parking lot for COP

THE THANG:
COP (all in cadence)
SSH x 20, windmill x 10, squat x 20, merkin x 7/hold/drop to elbows/regular to mountain climber x 15/hold/elbows, LBC x 20, small and large arm circles CW and CCW

Mosey to the parking lot lines and form a single line along one line. Lunge walk to the opposite side and do a burpee ladder from 1-5. Repeat the ladder backwards with backward lunging.

Mosey to the grassy hill by the gas station for Jacob’s ladder. 5 reps up the hill with bombjacks at the top counting to 5

Retrun to the parking lot and pair up. Wheelbarrow about 20 yards and do 10 partner merkins (handclaps). Flapjack and return to the start. Rinse and repeat

Circle up for the <@UJGS2BBQD> killer hip routine (7 reps ea).

Each AO has a distinct vibe. Slow Burn has a relaxed vibe because it’s well-lit, it’s moderate, which encourages (I think) more mumble chatter, and it’s on Fridays so the Pax are excited for the weekend ahead. It’s usually a fun workout and even more fun to Q it. I enjoyed the Q this morning, and I met some guys today in person, who I have only seen on Slack video (<@U07LMG5PDQU>, <@U08BNRBQ9D1>). The pax were in good spirits, and it was a pleasure to lead them. The rain stayed at bay, but we did have <@U08G28Z7E> today (see how I did that). Never skip leg day

WARMUP: 0.8 miles lap around LPL building
THE THANG:
At the amphitheater, elevens using the concrete steps: 1 step up each leg, 10 calf raises; 2 SU, 9 CR… progressive to 10 SU, 1 CR.

Ruck to the building behind Epic, up the stairs, one lunge on each light on the second floor, all the way down to stairs in front of hotel, went down the stairs on the back, up the stairs again, lunges on each lights on second floor, down the stairs in front of corkscrew bar, rinse and repeat up the stairs but switch to back lunges this time, down the stairs at the end, turn around and complete back lunges on each light on second floor. Down the stairs again.
Loop around packs tacos and back to the amphitheater.

Rucks off, elevens again:
1x 4 count pickle pointers, 10 squats; 2×4 count PP, 9 squats… progressive to 10 PP, 1 squat… those 4 count PP added up quickly

It was a full leg workout with plenty of complaining

Beat the deck #1

WARMUP:
Quick warmup as we had a lot to cover. Cherry pickers and side straddle hops

THE THANG:
We had 9 cards face up and needed to guess higher or lower of any pile. Each card had a workout associated with it. You get the pick correct, we did 10 reps of the workout. You get the pick incorrect, you do 10 reps of the workout and a little jog to the sign and back.

The Hive Shovel Flag Hand-Off

WARMUP: Happy Hour warmed us up for the impending bear down
THE THANG:
Round 1: 10-min AMRAP
10 x KBS
10 x KB squats
10 x KB deadlifts
10 x KB clean and jerk

Round 2: 25-min of suffering

PAX circle up at bottom of the hill.
Non-stop KB swings, accumulate as many as possible – every time you stop swinging you complete:
5x burpees
10x merkins
15x squats
Resume swinging

Meanwhile…pax take turns carrying heavy objects up the hill to the speed bump. Options included:
100lb sandy nut sack
60lb sandy hog (sand bag)

Everyone worked hard, everyone complained, everyone got better

WARMUP:
THE THANG: TABATA ruck shuffle. 4:15 ruck pace , 45 sec run the whole time. We made our way down to the 9th grade wing of FMHS. Used the cinder blocks , rucks on and did 20 reps of OHP and Squats x 3 rounds each. Made our way back to COT

Up and Down DORA

WARMUP: Intro and disclaimer. Began mosey across the street. Stopped for MNC, windmills and Non-discrpt produce pickers. Mosey to another location, then stopped IW, HBW and SJacks. Continued Mosey back to the main church parking lot. Bear crawled parking spaces and then lunch walked another set. Finally, Mosey back to out KB’s.
THE THANG: Let the DORA begin. Pair up for 50 KB curls, 100 KB upright rows, 150 Goblit squats and 200 AH with KB. Partner ran around the short island. Once finished, back down we go. 150 GS, 100 URR, and 50 curls.

Happy days

WARMUP: ssh, windmills, imp walkers, hillbilly walkers and Peter Parkers, all in cadence
THE THANG: a round of 13s – 2 stations were set up a hundred or so feet from each other. Station 1 the pax did merkins and shoulder taps – starting count was one. The pax migrated to station 2 via lieutenant dans, and at station 2 did big boi sit ups and American hammers ( or was it Russian twists, I forget) – starting count was 12. The pax returned to station via a mosey around the parking lot.

The task proved a bit ambitious for us, as we reached 6:00 with a couple of rounds left to go, but at f3, we get paid by the hour, not by the rep, so the effort was honorable

After reminiscing about the old abc wide world of sports, we spent some time brainstorming some good f3 names inspired by IP of our youth. Don’t be surprised if an upcoming fng goes home named something like Danny Zucko, Fonzie, or Grimace.
