Bearded Wonder Takes On The Pond

NASA asked me to Q Minnow Pond about a month ago and I accepted forgetting that I had Lake Haigler 12 hour 2 days afterwards. The plan was to take the Minnows to the trails and get some miles there but that will have to wait for another time to do that. It had rained the night before and there were a lot of leaves on the trails. Didn’t want someone to do a Superman like Dark Helmet did last time I Q’d here.

Took the fellas to Harris Street Park and as Strava describes it Harris Street Hell Hills. It’s almost a mile to the park from Veterans Park so keep that in mind for future Q’s.

We did hill repeats each way with 10 hand release merkins at the middle, 10 monkey Humpers at top of one side Harris Street and 10 Sumo Squats at Harris/21 Hill. Most got close to 4 miles total.

Had a group of guys carrying around fancy book bags filled with styrofoam peanuts and a few had actual weights in them. Maximus,Rebound,Dark Helmet,Farmers Only,Spider-Man, Crystal Lake, Wooden Leg and Anchorman all rucked I’ll let you decide who had peanuts and who had weight.

Commitment to the DRP

YHC was excited to be asked to Q at the Yard to restart my DRP after a post Thanksgiving smartsack. It is because of the accountability and commitment to the Pax that I find myself leaving the cozy confines of my bed in the morning. While my will is stronger than before, it is this opportunity to get 1% better with my fellow Pax that drives me in the AM.

Weather 28 degrees and dark but sunny by 7:15

WARMUP:

Mosey to parking lot with a moving COP including:
SSH x 10 completed 6 times
Windmills/IW x 10 completed 5 times

Monkey Humpers x 10 completed 2 times
Seal Jacks x 10 completed once

After each round, we added an exercise and moved to a new location.

At each pole:

10 LBCs
10 Squat jumps

NMM
Today’s workout was proof that it can be simple and still difficult. No PowerPoints needed. No extra explanation. Just Merkins and running. Do enough, and you feel it.

How many times in life do we make things more difficult than they need to be? We worry about things that never materialize. We make excuses to not do something because it might be uncomfortable. We worry ourselves with ornate scenarios we create in our minds that have little to no basis in reality. Sometimes we need to just do the thing. Face it. Do it. Win it. Move on.
