Body by Badlands

After a week of living the beach life for spring break, I was a bit unsure how my body would react to resuming physical activity.

WARMUP: a few Pax did a pre-run of about 2.25 miles from Earthfare down to Richard’s Crossing and back.

Fishstix grabbed his Ruck so that Flounder would not be solo.

THE THANG:
Head towards gold hill middle school via Dave Gibson – stopped 3 times:

1) Plank – up/down dog – merkins IC – MtnClimbers IC

(this is point where Bandcamp began questioning in his head if I actually had a plan or was just winging it)

2) Al Gore – seated MNCs IC – Squats IC

(this is point where Bandcamp verbalized his previous thoughts)

3) LBCs IC

(this is point where I started winging it just a little bit)

Moseyed to bottom of Athletic Fields entrance to Gold Hill Middle (hill with lightposts)

run to light pole 1 and do 5x merkins, LBCs, Squats. return to beginning light pole.

run to light pole 2 and do 10x merkins, LBCs, Squats. return to beginning light pole.

increase reps by 5 through the 5th light pole where 25 reps were completed.

(this is point where I kinda winged it)

Original plan was to make it to 6th pole for 30 reps but YHC could barely make it through the 25 reps without breaking so modification necessary- starting at bottom do 5x reps of same exercises at all lightpoles in run up the hill (7 lightpoles)

(this is point where I totally winged it)

Mosey back to middle school with a stop at the basketball court for some Bobby Hurleys.

Head back toward CoT with 3 stops:
1) Wide arm Merkins
2) Sumo Squats
3) Freddy Mercuries IC

Arrived back at CoT with just less than 3 minutes to spare

MARY:
Wide arm Merkins IC, Sumo Squats IC, Freddie Mercuries IC, Plank

ANNOUNCEMENTS: read your newsletter

COT: each shared a prayer or praise

The Accumulator hit by inflation is painful for everyone

We had 12 Pax, make it 13, Splinter drove through the Circle of Pain while we were doing out Side Straddle Hops. While I did prove a disclaimer, I forgot to mention incoming vehicles as a potential hazard.
Back to warm-ups (SSHs, Imperial Walkers, Windmills, Plank Stretches, Peter Parker, Parker Peters)
Next, we moseyed to the entrance of the Middle School. The workout for the remainder of time was The Accumulator:

Do the exercise and take a lap around the buffet. Rinse and Repeat, accumulating each exercise.

10 Merkins – 20 Flutter Kicks – 20 Squats – 30 Plank Punches – 20 LBC’s – 20 Carolina Dry Docks – 10 Burpees

Unfortunately, the above reps were impacted by inflation, here are the revised reps:

15 Merkins – 25 Flutter Kicks – 25 Squats – 36 Plank Punches – 28 LBC’s – 25 Carolina Dry Docks – 15 Burpees

**lesson: inflation has a random impact on prices (in this case reps)

Most pax got through the full list, some of the crazies (fast pax) started from the top again. Back to COT.

Inaugural Jaeger

Beautiful March weather (seriously it was a perfect day) for the 0800 launch of the Eröffnung Jäger. PAX were assured by Grinder that the routes were well marked and there were no Zima-miles. This proved to be 99.9% true (you could still get lost if you wanted to…)

The premise was solid. 4 man team (2 Ruckers, 2 Runners). Runners had longer routes and teams met at checkpoints for team exercises before they could head to the next station. The pain stations were tough. Lutefisk about killed the PAX at the first one. (Oh, that was just me?) Triple Lindy had us loading munitions. Cake Boss brought candy, but it was not a sweet treat. (Could have also been that the leg leading to Alison Park was soul crushing….) Tinsel forgot it was a CSAUP and thought he was prepping for a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs wresting match.

The finishing team results:
1.) Vuvu/Beaker (for the record you were suggested to have a 4 man team…)
2.) Cobra Kai’s crew (that included the mythical Gekko)
3.) Camp 3D’s Sugar Shady Band Bug
4.) Cornerstone’s posse
5.) Poppins’ Chimney Sweeps (seriously impressive that Badlands ran back from the final pain station to connect with his teams’ Ruckers)
6.) The Entourage around Shield
7.) Slow Jams and the Lake Ridge Wanders
8.) Lake Wylie’s Wild Thing drinking Whiskey and enjoying a Big Mac (great to see these guys from across the bridge here for the CSAUP)

Afterwards at the Print Shop, we celebrated the Dam 2 Dam fundraising effort where The Fort is sending $7,500 to Defend the Fatherless, $7,500 to Autism Strong, $7,500 to the Fort Mill Care Center, and $10,000 to the F3 the Fort endowed scholarship.

It is an honor to be part of The Fort alongside some amazing high impact men. On behalf of Grinder and the entire planning crew, this backblast is respectfully submitted by the smallest cog in the Jaeger machine—Band Camp.
