Taking the Conga Line Through Life

WARMUP: Bit of a mosey and short COP with mumblechatter from Bonsai on the Qs Disclaimer. No, it wasn’t perfect. It also wasn’t missed entirely (except you Bonsai).

THE THANG: Two sets of accumulator series 5x / 10x / 15x /20x / 25x with bear crawls or crawl bears in between. one series was all lower body, one all core. along the way we did a conga line mosey weaving through all the posts of the carpool awning at the school.

MESSAGE: Workout and message today were geared around life not moving in a straight line. it hasn’t for me in career, fitness, faith, marriage, finances, etc. there have been ups and downs and twists and turns. too often I fall into the trap of blaming myself or someone else for the downticks when in fact that’s just part of the journey. and in fact it’s those downticks when I have the most to learn and grow. so take the attitude about the #Suck from the Gloom and apply it to the #Suck in the rest of your life — Embrace It!

thanks for the invite Triple Lindy and the AKA spirit Funhouse and pax! always an honor to lead.

COT: It was Day 2 of AKA and we had a great showing and energy level. some new faces (FITS) and some welcome kotters (Naked and Afraid).

Got to the courtyard. Bearcrawl with the bell stopping for one manmaker at each light

At the end, built up into a kettlebell flow with each arm;
Swing
Clean
Squat
Snatch
as we left we added an overhead lunge at the end.

Mixed and match how many times we did each side
MARY: one moment of core, but there was so much mumblechatter and very little work. So, we agreed to do four burpee snatches instead.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: read your newsletter
COT: prayers for marriage, parents, travel, our nation

NMM: not sure why, but I need deadlines to get some things accomplished in my life. Set a deadline on when you’ll go on your next date with your M, or when you’ll do something with just you and your kiddos. Be proactive about it. I know I have to; otherwise it is relegated to a “someday” activity.

A privilege to lead

Timberline Trail – ASCG

THE THANG:
12 PAX strong ruckes Kingsley trail to Timberljne trail. We made a push for Lake Haigler but had to turnaround at E3. Seemed like 2 ish miles. We encountered rocks, roots, terrain, river crossings, and horse manure. It was cool to look back a see a string of headlamps, bobbing through the woods. When one of us was in a valley, another was at a peak encouraging us to keep going. In your concentrica, who needs encouraging today?

…AND THATS HOW HISTORY IS MADE

WARMUP:
History was made today as YHC made his VQ at The Armory. I’m happy that after 9 years someone finally noticed me. All it took was getting up at 3 am to make the drive across the bridge to the “other side” of Fort Mill.

We didn’t do a disclaimer because only professionals showed up.

Warm up was an Indian Run in a slowish pace around the parking lot. Battlebot decided to snake us a bit but we made it back. 5 Windmills and about 10 Polish night clubs.

THE THANG:

After much discussion on the properness of the name, we did a Jack Web because I said so. Although others were determined it should have been called 11s. Luckily, I didn’t fold under the pressure and called it what I wanted. We started with 1 press and walked across the lot for 10 curls. Now normally you would assume we then did 2 presses and 9 curls…. but somewhere in YHC’s Coors Light daze the numbers didn’t add up. We pretty much did 10 of each exercise on both sides of the parking lot. I wish I could say it was a test to see who was paying attention, but that would just be a lie.

Next, we again debated the name of the exercise group. I said accumulator, some said Dora, others said Misogi….look I don’t care what yall call stuff, just do the exercises. We partnered up with 1 person doing the call out while the other ran across the lot and back. Each time the partner ran they had to add 1 merkin. I think by the end we were around 14-16 merkins each time we ran. Call out was 300 swings, 200 tri extension, and 50 man makers.

Closed with good news about Band Camps youth trip and prayers over the P200 runners

….Hope your happy 3D and thanks for the invite Battle Bot

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

NaF’s Kotter Status

WARMUP: Naked and Afraid led in cadence. He’s still got it.

THE THANG: NaF tried to hand off, but I didn’t let him. So, he called 50 burpees and got himself gassed enough so that I would take over.
We did some partner dora-esque work including:
50 burpees
100 CDD
150 LBC
Bulgarian Split Squats
Bear Crawled with additive merkins
J-Los
Flutters

PAX discussed what brings us out to the gloom.
Among the answers:
The desire to be better for our families
The fellowship
Knowing we wouldn’t do this in isolation
The leadership training
Connection to Q-source
The mentorship
Starting the day up 1-0
The accountability
Associating with a group of men striving to be better
Imagine what kind of sad clowns we’d (I’d) be otherwise

An honor to lead today. Great to have NaF answer my text last night and step up to post and Q the warmup!

Sharknado Again?

WARMUP: We ran 1/4 mile and did the usual except for SSH’s they suck and Hill Billy Walkers are better.
THE THANG: Sharknado was called again because I’m not original and couldn’t think of anything else to do, so twice in a month seemed fine to me. Also I know how much Trucker loves it. The hand release Merkins where just for Cyclops. Here’s how it went.

10 Burpees / Run down Hill and back to top
20 Hand Release Merkins / Run down and back up
20 Big Boy Sit-ups/ Run down and back up
20 Monkey Humpers / Run down and back up
20 Scorpion Dry Docks / Run down and back up

Goal was to do entire cycle 5 times, most made it to three complete rounds. This shut up the mumble chatter very quickly as we got 3 miles in just three rounds.

MARY: Returned to COT for 5 minutes of stretching as I try to do at end of all my Q’s.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Dam To Dam Golf Tournament is Friday December 9th at 10:00AM Waterford Golf Club in Rock Hill. Contact Stang with any questions.
COT It was done.
