God, forgive us that when life’s circumstances lift us to the crest of the wave, we tend to forget You yet, like an errant child, we have blamed You with our every failures, even as we credit ourselves with every success.

When our fears evaporate like the morning mist, then vainly we imagine that we are sufficient unto ourselves, that material resources and human resources are enough.

We need You when the sun shines, lest we forget the story and the dark. We need You when we are popular, when our friends and those who work beside us approve and compliment us. We need You more than, lest our heads begin to swell.

O God, forgive us for our stupidity, our blindness in success, our lack of trust in You. Be our Savior in success. Save us from conceit. Save me from pettiness. Save me from my immaturity and save me from ourselves. As we grow in maturity, help our attributes mimic Your Son’s. Finally, take our successes, whether due to our maturation process or not, and allow them to be used for Your glory. In your strength, I earnestly pray these things. Amen.

Thank you for the opportunity, Fish Sticks!!

Parking lot tour – Footloose

  • QIC: Rebel
  • When: 06/01/17
  • Pax: Drop Thrill, Sapper, Vernon, Destiny, Molder, Smithers, Culture Club, Chicken Hawk, Spark Plug, Power Hog, FEMA, Optimus, 12th Man, Quick Books, Fire Marshall Bill, Fusion, Bubble Boy, Deep Dish, Gilmore, Anchor Man, Rebel (QIC)
  • Posted In: Footloose

This AO continues to be a very popular site.  As the cars kept rolling in, the parking lot looked very crowded.  I was excited to Q since it had been awhile since dealing with a nagging injury.  Once we hit 5:15, a short disclaimer was given and no FNG’s were present so off we went.   A short mosey and then circled up in the parking lot.

  • 10 SSH
  • 10 Windmill
  • 10 Imperial Walkers
  • 10 Merkins
  • 10 MC

Mosey to the parking lot beside FM First Baptist.  There is a lovely hill leading back up to the main road.  The drill was 1st exercise run up hill and back, 1st & 2nd exercise then backwards up hill, 1st, 2nd, 3rd run up hill and so on. Exercises were:

  • 1st – 10 merkins
  • 2nd – 10 squats
  • 3rd – 10 dips
  • 4th – 10 Monkey Humpers
  • 5th – 10 CDD

Mosey to the lower lot beside FM Church of God and partner up.  Drill was one partner run across lot, up the stairs to the upper lot and back to the partner.  2nd partner is doing an exercise until partner 1 returns.  Exercises:

  • SSH
  • Big Boy Sit-ups
  • Dips
  • Flutter
  • Squats
  • Monkey Humpers

Mosey back to the main lot for 3 minutes of Mary. (Freddie Merc, Protractor, Amer Hammer).

It was a pleasure to lead this morning and a great AO with many options.  With today being June 1st, we started a new word of the month.  This month we are focused on Faith.  During the workout, I shared that we all have faith in something and I thought it was very fitting that we are following maturity in May with Faith in June.  As we grow and mature as adults are we also growing in our Faith in Jesus Christ?  I know for me, maturity is knowing my weakness and I can justify not stepping out of my comfort zone and having the faith that God will bring me through what He is calling me too.

I was asked to be a part of the team going on a mission trip to South America.  I quickly agreed to be on the team so that I would be committed and not find multiple excuses.  As we have gotten closer to trip, doubt and fear began to creep into my mind and I was working hard to find a reason that I would not be able to attend.  Since my diet and being gluten free can be an issue, this seemed like the perfect solution, but after discussing the trip with some that have already attended, I was reassured that the food there should be fine.  I have to remind myself that God has laid the groundwork for our group and we are his hands and feet.  I have to trust in Him and have FAITH that He will provide for my needs and our groups needs.  Growing in Faith to me is stepping out and putting my knowledge and testimony in action to serve others.

Announcements and prayers were lifted.  Thanks Anchor Man for the invitation to lead.

Bricklayers

  • QIC: Senator Tressel
  • When: 06/01/17
  • Pax: Lil'E, El Diablo, Netscape, Training Wheels
  • Posted In: Laces In

Five strong ‘hit the bricks’ this morning for Thursday morning beat down at Walter Elisha Park.  Here is what they did.

The Thang:

Dynamic warmup:  Walking knee pulls, ankle pulls, lung arm stretches, back stretches, arm circles, and toy soldiers.  Walk back to the white Passat and pick up two bricks.  And mosey….

Along the path and find some open space (not hard to do) at the park for COP:

SSH x 25, merkin x 10, IW x 20, squat x 20, LBC x 20, Morrocan night club x 25, man maker merkins x 12, Mountain climber x 30, flying lunge x 20.  Plank, right/left arm high, 6″, regular, 6″ (rinse and repeat).

Mosey to the playground.

Partner 1 does pull ups while partner 2 takes 4 bricks and runs around the playground.  Flapjack Rinse and repeat twice.  Do 10 burpees OYO

Mosey a little ways to a clearing and drop your bricks in a pile.  Mosey about 40 yards and line up.

One by one, run down to the brick pile, pick up a brick and run it back.  While you are waiting to run, do SSH.  When all Pax have gone once, repeat this with merkins.  When all the bricks have returned, pick ’em up.  Do 10 burpees OYO.

Mosey to a new spot and circle up for ABLAB (all with bricks)

Modified Freddie Mercury x 20, Crunch press x 20, American Hammer x 20.  Finish with 10 burpees OYO.

COT

NMM

Been a while since the bricks made it to one of my workouts so when Lil’E asked me to Q last week, it seemed like a good time to bust them out.  It’s always good to have a little extra weight to carry around for 45 minutes.  Everything you do is just a little bit harder – some things, a lot harder. The laps around the playground with the bricks didn’t look too bad  on paper, but YHC struggled to keep his arms in some coordinated fashion on the last rep around the playground – ughh!

We had a Pax of just 5 today, including Lil’E who is still supporting the best beard in F3 Fort Mill. T-claps and so jealous,  my friend.  Have not seen Training Wheels in quite a while so it was good to have him with us as well as Netscape and El Diablo.  Interesting that I have been at workouts before with both of those gentlemen, but could not put a name with a face.  Today their faces were pained and grimacing much of the time so I will remember them next time.

If anyone is taking part in the June 30 burpee challenge, we banked 30 today. Had plans for 50, but ran out of time, unfortunately.   It was a pleasure to lead this fine group of men and I look forward to my next visit to WEP.

Announcements/Prayers/Praises

Bowling Tournament on June 10 to support the Colombia mission trip.  4 man teams/$100 per team.

Praises for health and well being to be able to exercise today!

Prayers for a brother-in-law with cancer.  Prayers for sick children of the Pax and for healthy new borns (several new babies on the way)

PREBLAST: YORK MASTODON

  • QIC: Bounty
  • When: 07/29/17
  • Pax: All F3Nation Pax
  • Posted In: Uncategorized

Join F3York as we host our first ever CSAUP…the Mastodon.

As F3York continues to grow, we decided that we needed to make a mark on the map with an insane (completely stupid) event.  With the overwhelming amount of Pax getting into the ruck craze, a ruck inspired endurance event was conceived.

This event will suck and challenge the most elite down to the beginner depending on what option you choose to participate in. This event will push you to your most extreme limits. Your endurance, strength, speed, mental fortitude, teamwork ability, leadership skills, climate survivability, and overall health/fitness will be tested.

The course will be approximately 14-16 miles minimum.  This mileage can and probably will go up once you add in the 7-8 AO workouts. Teams of (4) will start together and finish together (teams will be decided at the start of the event)…this will force bonding, teamwork, and fellowship.

The event will start and end at the Dragon AO and proceed to visit each of York’s AOs (minus Guns N Moses…too far out). At each AO there will be a workout, not a pain station, waiting to be completed before continuing. Site Q’s will have full discretion of the workout as long as it is in the design of the actual site. For example…Trinity will be a bootcamp style workout while Gain Station will be a gear/ coupon workout. Runners…yes, you will have to go through the same AOs, so there will be rucks waiting on you to use at the School of Ruck.

This is not a half marathon, not a fun walk, but an endurance ruck inspired event. The Mastodon will offer options to ruck, run, or to do a relay. All options will be conducted in teams of (4).  Ruckers will start at 0300 and have 10hrs to complete, runners will start at 0500 and have 8hrs to complete.

Upon completion of the event we will meet up at the Coal Yard for festivities…more on this will be coming.

Not mandatory, but we are asking for a $10 minimum donation from each participant to help with water, snacks, sports drinks, patches, etc. We are also trying to come up with a shirt to be sold through Mudgear as well as a Velcro patch….designs coming soon.

Hard Commits would be great to have for head count and volunteers definitely welcome to help.

Ruckers will need 30lb weight in pack (if over 150lbs) or 20lb (if under 150), (2) carabiners, 4′ piece of rope or chain that will fit the carabiners, minimum of 2L of water.

Runners will need to carry water either vest, backpack, etc.

Options:

Ruck (Conqueror)-full course

Run (Conqueror)-full course

Relay (Participant)-legs divided up amongst team

Unfailing Love

  • QIC: DaVinci, Deacon
  • When: 5/27/17
  • Pax: Rock Hill CAH Pax
  • Posted In: Guidance

Posting with the 13 Pax from the CAH was even more meaningful with Father’s Day fast approaching. We hoped the provide the young men encouragement, love and attention. The Pax did the following workout with a high level of energy and enthusiasm.

Q: DaVinci

Mosey to the park.

COP: Merkins (15x), SSH (15x), LBCs (15x), Squats (15x), MCs (15x)

DaVinci discussed the importance of maturity with the Pax.

Q: Deacon

Mosey to the basketball court at CAH for a quick pick up game.

Team Drill 1/Counts: 50 jumping jacks, 50 LBCs, 20 Merkins (2x).

Team Drill 2: Start at the ends of the court then run to center court for 5 Big Boy Sit Ups and Partner Plank Claps then rinse and repeat.

Moleskin:

Father’s Day is fast approaching and it brings mixed emotions for the children of CAH. These young men feel let down by their parents. We discussed how there not a perfect parent on this planet. When parents fail, it’s not the children’s fault…it’s really because of the parent’s shortcomings.

To lift the children’s spirits and help encourage them, we pointed them to their perfect father: God. We discussed how He protects them, cares for them and provides their every need. We affirmed our Father’s unfailing love for the children of CAH by having them read the following.

God, my heavenly father, loves me and He tells me:

1. “I’m here for you.”

2. “I’m proud of you.”

3. “I believe in you.”

4. “I want the best for you.”

5. “I will stand with you.”

6. “I love you.”

Tell your children these affirming sentences regarding your unconditional love for them.

Peace,

Deacon

14 PAX came together at The Ballroom after a long Memorial Day weekend. Too many Hot Dogs and hamburgers maybe but the PAX were ready to get better and stronger.

I asked the PAX to think about all the PAX around them and that we all come from different backgrounds and careers and experiences however in the COP/COT everything is level and we are all in the same soup together….regardless of speed, strength or demographics. Roll that around for a bit…

The Thang:

Mosey across Gold Hill Road (don’t get killed) to office park for COP

  • Plank
  • SSHs
  • Squats
  • Merkins
  • Big Boy Situps

  • Partner 1 – Run up hill to stop sign and back
  • Partner 2 – Hello Dollys
  • Wall sits until 6 is in

Mosey back to COT

  • Rosalitas
  • Flutters
  • Superman x 2

Great work by all PAX! Was a good sweat for post holiday weekend and always humbled and honored to Q….thank you Change Order for the lead.

So with all things being level in the COP/COT we really are dancing with ourselves what we think of ourselves. Are we prideful and think we have it all together or are we humble and/or insecure in ourselves and think we don’t deserve to be standing in this COT with these other HIMs. Well I believe most of us fall in the ladder and we should all realize we are fooling ourselves. When we are loved by Sky Q who sent his son to deal with our mess in this life, we should realize everything is level at the foot of the cross and my Audience is the one who did that for me. So I can do as many burpees for him as possible, and be the best husband for him I can, and best father and worker/employer for HIM that I can be……because its all level at the cross! Sky Q sees you as perfect through his Son.

Announcements:

  • June 9 – Foundation for Ft Mill Schools Golf tourney

  • June 17 – Hog and Coyote & CAH floating down the river event

1. Thanks SugarBug for having me fill in for Jiffy today. Always love coming out to lead at this AO as there are so many options of things to do between the Band Field, ROTC bars, hill between Nafo and Sugar Creek. So many things one can do while there.

2. Thanks Tolkien (aka the Panda Express) for making it out to The Coop today and sharing more about SpeedforNeed. I know our brothers in The Fort will do our best to support this in any way possible.

3. Make sure you are getting the weekly newsletter. A lot of amazing things going on in our Region and Rock Hill.

4. My challenge to you – If you have not posted to another region, my challenge is to get out of your comfort zone and go post somewhere else. I know we do a lot of awesome things here in The Fort, but other regions are doing those great things as well. And some do things a little bit differently. Can always pick up some new workout ideas by posting to a different region.
