Some of Us Got The Good Genes

Finally a break in heat and humidity on this fine morning at Runde Park.  Six men came to be challenged and I believe they left satisfied.

The Thang

Gears for first half.

Lap around the park calling out 3 stations on the route.

Circle up in the lot for a light warm up:

  • SSH
  • Windmills
  • Potato Pickers

Took off around the park loop, hitting three stations.  At each station 5 Burpees OYO, planked for the 6 at station 3.  Repeat with 5 Bomb Jacks OYO.

Hit the baseball field for Four Corners:

  • 5x Around The World Squats
  • 10x Squat Jacks
  • 15x Monkey Humpers

Plank for the 6 at station 4.  Repeat, but double the counts.

Another set of 2 laps around the park loop hitting the three stations with 10 Burpees OYO at each, then 10 Bomb Jacks OYO at each.

Hand off to Mr. Clean

PAX each grab a Cindy from the Suburban and head to everyone’s favorite hill.

PAX commenced with The Beast (6*6*6):

6 stations up the hill, 6 reps per exercise for 6 different exercises with Cindy.

  • Squat to upright row
  • Curls
  • Skull crushers
  • Chest press
  • Shoulder press
  • Lawnmower pulls

Moseyed back to the Lot for COT.

NMM

Confession: It has been forever since I Q’ed a boot camp.  With all the running and travel (and, if I am honest, excuses) it has been too long.

It was good to lead the men this morning through the first half and to push through the second half with them at my side.  It was the highest complement to have both Cable Guy and Fishsticks comment on how tough the workout was.  Also good to clown around with Wegmans while putting in work as his brother Sasquatch was sprinting up the hill with a Cinderblock.  And I couldn’t have asked for a better man than Mr. Clean to share the Q with this morning.

Missed seeing some of the regulars this morning… hopefully a temporal problem.

Announcements and Prayer Requests

  • Suffolk Punch has some sort of special with free (F3) beer.  Talk to Wegmans.
  • Prayers for Wegmans Father in Law and Prostate Cancer
  • Prayers for kids going through GI sickness that appears to be going around
  • Prayers for my leg to heal up after some sort of nerve issue

Honor to Serve

School Loops

Temporary location change to Tega Cay Elementary School.

Route:  Stay on school grounds, big loop around the back of the school.  At the crosswalk, fast lap around the soccer field.  Small loop around parking lot, then repeat with big loop around school.  One lap was a little over a mile.

We got 4 laps in..good for a bunch of old guys.

Happy Birthday to Mrs.  Gears!

The Terrible Awful

Where is the weather break ,man?  91% humidity at 0515.  Dang, son.  While sweating through their shirts, everyone at least kept them on.  Confident we would have at least 1 invisible shirt guy had he posted at GC today…(Looking at you @ChangeOrder)

Mighty 11 today with 1 @Fishsticks just running.  Odd.  Bit of a #ForestGump situation if you ask me.  We ran- but ran and did stuff.

The #TerribleAwful

  • Start at Bank. Run to bottom of Hill.  5 X 3-Merkin Burpees.
  • Run up Hill. 5 Bombjacks.
  • Run to Wall- Lunges then 10 CDD
  • Run to Bank- Bear Crawl then 20 LBC
  • 1 lap includes 1/2 mile run
  • Shoot for 4 laps.  If you’re not first, you’re last.

Results:

The Pax crushed between 4 and 6 laps.  5 laps=   2.5 miles, 25 3-merk burpees, 25 bombjacks, 200 lunges, 50 CDD, 200 Bear Crawls, 100 LBC.

Naked Man Moleskin

Well, well, well.  Look at Lutefisk just killin’ out there.  Holmes took off like a bat outta hell and never gave up the lead.  AND takes the #VirtualTrophy for today, tying Sir Topham Hat with 6 laps.  So dog gone proud of that man.  Mile High showed up at the work out from a 3 mile pre-run with what has to be a city issued, professional construction grade, flood light on his forehead. I’m still seeing streamers.  Maybe that’s why he was in front of me all morning- because I was blinded… nope.  My man, MH, is feeling it and got in 6 with Lutes.  Slapshot pushed YHC to complete our 5.  Kept saying something about Iron PAX leg beatdown and running on stumps.  Probably would have given Lutes and MH a challenge and left me for dead if he was 100%.  With Darkest hot on our heels, would he have stopped for roadside assistance?  One can only speculate.  38, LJ, Davinci, Pothole, Cheddah, and Uber showed particular grit.  Bit of 0-60 kind of morning.

Studying a devotional this week within our #shieldlock: “Uncommen: Words from Husbands Dads and Leaders.”  How does your language impact others around you. Are the choices you are making influencing others for good?  Lifting up or tearing down.

“With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness”- James 3:9

“Wise men store up knowledge, but with the mouth of the foolish, ruin is at hand”- Proverbs 10:14

Your words matter.  Choose wisely.

Aye!

Early Risers at the Swamp

When I pulled into the parking lot near Best Buy, there were several cars already parked near the AO.  Based on the mumble chatter on social media, several of the PAX were getting in some early training for upcoming events.  There were 23 men at the work out, 13 for ruck, 8 for BC, and 2 runners.

After the disclaimer, we jogged to the front of Best Buy.  We started with a few warm up exercises (Butt Kickers, Toy Solders) before we moseyed over to the back of Just Fresh.

COP

SSH  x 20

Imperial Walker x 20

Windmill x 10

Plank Stretches

Next, we moseyed to the front of Home Depot for a round of Dora 1-2-3

100 Lat Pull-ups on the bicycle rack

200 Squats

300 LBCs

Next, we moseyed back to Just Fresh near the staircase for a round of Arod 3-2-1 (reverse Dora). Instead of running around the parking lot, we ran up and down the stairs.

300 Calf Raises

200 Lunges

100 Jump Squats

Next, we headed back to COT for one last exercise, the Merkin Gauntlet.  The Pax lined up in a plank position.  Each person performed 4 merkins in front of each person.

Heavy arm day

Four men showed up for this morning’s workout.  Uber arrived a little early thinking he was running late, still recovering from his international travels.  Bolt kicked us off with a lap around the park.  We stopped for the regular warm-ups (SSHs, Moroccan night clubs, merkins, and plank stretches).

Next, we ran back to the park where Bolt had organized five pain stations:

  1. Sweeper drag – The best description is a weighted (100+ ) infield broom.  Each person would drag it down the field and back.
  2. Luggage Shoulder Shrug –  Two bags, one in each hand, lift up and down.
  3. Sandbag carry – Bag carried overhead down to baseball diamond and back.
  4. Sandbag curl – Curl sandbag in squat position.
  5. Bocce ball bear crawl – Hold Bocce ball in each hand and bear crawl forward and back.

We each did two rounds of these pain stations. We were gassed.

Next, we ran a lap around the park before the hand-off to Fishsticks.  A number of the PAX had fun over the past few weeks sharing the music that influenced them growing up.  Bolt had joked about one of my picks, New Edition.  I thought it would be a good idea to incorporate  some of their hits into the workout. The song was played during each workout and served as our timer.

First workout:  Mr Telephone Man

  • Line up between telephone poles
  • Calf raises on one end
  • lunges on the other end with a run in between the poles

Second workout:  Can You Stand The Rain? (for the workout, “Rain” was changed to “Pain”)

  • 10 dips
  • 10 merkins
  • continue dips and merkins until the end of the song

Third workout:  Boys to Men

  • Pull ups
  • Step ups
  • Dips

Before we left the playground, we did 20 pull-ups and squats

Four workout:  Cool it down

  • Hello Dolly
  • LBCs
  • Superman

End with COT

Prayers for everyone impacted by the schools back in session.

Prayers for Ezra and family.

Back on the Ranch

Its been a while since I’ve ventured across town to the Ranch for a workout.  Five men and a dog showed up for the workout this morning.  After chatting for a little while, we launched with a jog around the parking lot.  Next, we circled up for the following warm-up exercises:

SSH x 20

Imperial Walker x 15

Windmill x15

Plank Stretches

Next, we moseyed to the school boulder to “Push the Rock”.  Each person had 10 seconds to see if he could push over the rock while the others planked.  No success in moving the rock.

Next, we ran over to the front of the school for a series of exercises:

  • Burpee broad jumps
  • Inch worm merkins
  • Bear crawl / merkins
  • Crabwalk / LBCs
  • Backwards bear crawl / Carolina dry docks

After each exercise, we took a lap around the parking lot.

We had seven minutes left for a series of AB exercises (LBCs, Freddie Mercury, Superman, Rosalita, Hello Dolly)

Thank you Lord for the cool weather

After being gone a few weeks it was great to be back at Tempo and a beautiful morning for a fellowship  pace 5 miles.  I lead the 3 other Pax on what i have named the Zima loop(just because Zima showed it to me first). Down Hubert Graham, around Walmart through GHMS and back out to 160 to home. A great route, couple nice hills and not too much traffic.

Prayers for the Pax, that we would be the Virtuous Leaders in our homes that we are called to be.  Prayers for aging parents.

Pillars of Pantheon – PreBlast

Pax:

We’ve all joined F3 for various reasons; however the common theme is acceleration in each of the 3 F’s.  In the spirit of QSource, 43Feet, Roundtable and others we are launching a new and insightful discussion:  Pillars of Pantheon.

Pillars of Pantheon will be a quick two minute interview with the Pantheon Q of the Day to expand on these questions:

> Tell us about your own EH experience and induction into F3?

> How has F3 helped you accelerate your 3 F’s?

> What is one idea that you will spearhead to take F3 into the future?

The Pillars of Pantheon discussion will occur after COT and the Gloom Crue in attendance are welcomed to listen in and discuss with that day’s Q post recording.  The intent is to strengthen our 2nd F, tighten our Shield-lock and of course, sharpen each other.

AYE!

Double duty and bring up the big guns

Slightly delayed due to PTO, but better late than never.

As the disclaimer was given, Jekyll rolled up in the rental truck and distracted us all with his manly vehicle.  Divac, fresh from moving from Hartsville, led us through warm-ups and then took us to the monster hill where we took on 11s.

Burpees at the top and big boys at the bottom.  Run down the hill and then backwards run up the hill.  It wasn’t fun but it was a nice warm up in the heat!

Next up was some 4 corners and partner work.

  • With your partner, 10 derkins using your partners back while they were in plank
  • 10 dips each off your partners back
  • 10 squats with an opposite foot touch
  • 10 big boys with your feet locked with partner
  • Rinse and repeat….for a total of 3x

Then we moved over to the playground.

  • 30 pull ups
  • 60 step ups
  • 100 flutters
  • Short mosey to end of parking lot with a short message below (and then the following)
  • 25 pull ups
  • 50 step ups
  • 80 flutters

For short breather we talked about being intentional either with ourselves or with those around us.  Less phone / screen time for Shady #DontBePhony per my 3 year old niece.

Wrapped up with COT and all things that go with that…went around the circle with what we were going to be intentional about for the weekend and upcoming week.

Great work and leading Divac….I think this guy has something going on!

Shady out…

Warriors, Come Out to Play

7 warriors came out to Pantheon this morning to battle the heat, humidity, and an awful Q.  A clown car came from Lake Ridge filled with smiling faces.  Some complaining about their shoulder pains from Mile High’s Q at Golden Corral. After the disclaimer, we moseyed to the front of the school for some warm up exercises.

COP

SSH x 20

Imperial Walker x 10

Windmill x10

Plank and shoulder stretches

Next, we walked over to the pillars.  There were 10 exercises written on the pavement.  It appeared they were written by an impaired person since they were not aligned properly (It was dark when I wrote them).  The workout started with the first exercise, once complete, we ran a big lap around the sports field.  Next, we would perform the first and second exercise, once complete, we ran a lap around the parking lot.  Rinse and repeat the pattern until all of the exercises were done.

Exercises:

  • 25 Merkins
  • 25 Flutters
  • 25 SSHs
  • 25 Squats
  • 10 Burpees
  • 25 Mountain Climbers
  • 25 Dips
  • 25 Carolina Dry Docks
  • 25 Plank Punches
  • 50 LBCs

We got through most of the exercises and covered 2 – 2.5 miles running.  At the end, we looked like we jumped in the lake since we were covered with sweat.  My message this morning was about accountability.  I mentioned my 2.0 Sharkbait.  He recently qualified for the Junior Olympics this past weekend.  As a father, I a very proud of him not only about this accomplishment, but his journey to this point.  Earlier this spring, he was struggling with running in Middle School.  When we talked about the struggles, he would point to external things that were preventing him from doing better.  We talked a lot about being accountable for things that are in your control.  In addition, knowing in your mind that you can accomplish the your goals.  After our conversation, he began to take ownership of his training plan and I saw his confidence grow.  Sometimes we all need that little kick to get us started in the right direction.
