COT: Battle Bot was missed today. Hopefully we moved enough heavy stuff and listened to enough UHaul ear candy and mumblechatter to meet our Site Q’s standards. Get well!

Reports of Barry Manilow posting proved to be false unfortunately.

Special guest visitor posted today — Uncle Sam, fresh back from Colombia on his way to Virginia for 12+ most of education and inspiration before returning back to Colombia to continue his life’s work in his home country. great to have you in the Gloom with us and to hear your stories of Picking up the Six. Keep up your HIM efforts and example! Praise and prayers for you!

Prior Site Q Shatner was back in the Gloom today after many weeks DR. welcome back!

DaVinci proved he can throw shade with the best of the pax, dropping some darkness with a smile on Cake Boss. Watch out DOAH, he’s coming for you next!

Thanks to Battle Bot for the Q invite, my first at a gear AO. Sometimes we all need the push toward something new and different. As I persevere through a long, hot, sometimes mundane summer that at times feels like Ecclesiastes and Kansas “Dust in the Wind” this morning’s experience with the pax including dialog before, during and after gave me a real jump start to the week. Thank you!

This thing we call The Fort is special. It’s impact is actually global, as we heard this am from Uncel Sam. And it only continues if you post tomorrow. #keep posting #noOYO

Seven Years Later

Seven years ago, Jekyll invited me to The Fort for my first workout. WWL and Rooney did a great job keeping the 40 Pax busy with difficult exercises and ended with a strong message – Pay attention to detail, It is the little things that make a big difference. Here’s the link to the Backblast : https://f3thefort.com/2015/07/11/40-at-the-fort-q-school-extra-credit-attention-to-detail/

WARMUP:
SSHx20
Imperial Walkersx15
Windmillsx15
Plank Stretches
Mountain Climbersx10

THE THANG:
Next, we did a modified Jack Webb. We ran around the park and stop for each round of merkins and arm raises. I should have read the message from my first post about attention to detail a bit closer. Several times, I lost count and the Pax reminded me . We finished at the far end of the field, a quick rest with some Goggins motivation. Next, we partnered up for a long wheelbarrow to the playground. One catch, if you stop and switch partners, 5 burpees. Once we got to the playground, we continued with partners exercises.
Partner one – run around playground while partner two does dips (swap)
Partner one – run around playground while partner two does derkins (swap)
rinse and repeat
Next, we made our way back to the amphitheater for a few minutes of recovery abs exercises (LBCs, Flutters, and Box Cutters). We took the path to the power line hill where the XC runners typically do hill repeats. Partner one runs up the hill and returns to the bottom using the paved path while partner two performs an exercises. Three rounds: Squats, Calf Raises, and Lunges. One last run up the hill, backwards. Back to the front of the amphitheater. Plank line up, each Pax performed two merkins in front of the other pax, rinse and repeat.
We had time for some Mary and a 30 second body destroyer.

Great job everyone!

Starting at the goalline – run 100yd to far goal line and do 10 each of the following: burpees, squats, merkins, LBCs, Forward Lunge (each leg). Run 90yd back to goal line then run 80yd to far 20yd line for 8reps…. keep decreasing 10 yards and 1 rep.

Made it to the 50 yd line before time was getting low so for the 40yd, 30yd, 20yd, 10yd we only performed merkins and we mixed in some Nur and bear crawls and crawl bears instead of running.

Finished off with mosey back to COT and 1 minute of Mary (flutters and American hammers)

ANNOUNCEMENTS: The Final Countdown coming 9/10, stuff the bus, Invergence Aug 13

COT:

We rocked the first half, then Badlands rolled us in the second half. Good energy from all throughout!

Cake Boss made a fashionably late appearance at 0558. We gave him full credit for a post because…well….WWJD!

A reference to high school reunions brought reflections on HS friends that remain in contact today and those that walked with us through that life stage so many years ago. gratitude for both groups and reminders of the value of what we have with our F3 brothers.

Prayers for Yard Sale and the flux he’s navigating. Thanks for the chance to lead!

Only a little lost

WARMUP: SSH, IW, HW, Shoulder Taps, slow merkins

THE THANG:
mosey around until I got lost.
Stop along the way for:
10 Merkins
9 squats
8 LBCs
7 Carolina Dry Docks
6 Jump Squats
5 American Hammers
4 Hand Release merkins
3 Jump Lunges
2 Flutters
1 Burpee
Did the full set each stop. I think we stopped around 6 times.

I ran to what used to be an event center to do another round and was informed it’s now a private residence. Better to be dissuaded by your friends than run off by someone wielding a shotgun.

We got a little far afield today. 3 total miles. Unintentional message of the day: How do you respond when your leader is clearly lost?

Planned message: you’ve done something challenging today. Don’t shy away from other challenges as they face you. You may need to press forward and persevere, or you may need to hold back and assess. Both decisions require different kinds of toughness.

Thanks Radar for the call to lead outside the my home region. Was great to be in Belmont this morning.

The parking lot is always smoother in the other corner

WARMUP: Some side straddle hops, windmills, imperial walkers, hillbilly walkers, Moroccan nightclubs and cherry pickers to loosen things up

THE THANG:

Used the ol’ Seconds Pro app to provide a TABATA workout with 50 seconds on 20 seconds rest ratio. After every 4th exercise we would rotate to the next corner of the parking lot. It should be noted that I used an Apple playlist and the app appeared to have undergone an update since last use… By the time I discovered the errors with both of these items we had come too far (I already pushed start) and the only option was to press forward for the next 40 minutes… We made it through a full cycle and 3/4.

Merkins
Squats
Flutter
Donkey Kick
Rotate
Calf Raises
Mountain Climbers
Side Straddle Hops
Al Gore
Rotate
Box Cutter
Plank Jacks
Lunges
Dry Dock
Rotate
Seal Jacks
High Knees
Monkey Humpers
Freddie Mercury
Rinse and Repeat

Things learned:
-the update changed the default voice from an Australian lady to a deep voiced male… not as fun to be told to do monkey humpers by a deep voiced male
-Apple includes U2’s One as a 90’s Rock/Alternative Essential, and while a great song, it is not terribly motivating… however it is very long…
-the update also messed up the volume of the coach voice anyway, so everyone just had to listen to me yelling over U2 anyway…

COT: It happened… we were all there…
