Turkey Giveaway in Paradise from Fort Mill PAX 12-17-16

  • QIC: Figaro, Deacon, Chicken Hawk, Bolt, DaVinci
  • When: 12/17/16
  • Pax: Fort Mill Area PAX
  • Posted In: Uncategorized

As we look to build bridges from our racial divide discussions, we are beginning to implement action items to expand F3’s impact. Two immediate items are a community service turkey giveaway and an “unofficial” AO (separate preblast to come) in the Paradise community.

F3 Turkey Giveaway – 12/17/16

Fellow PAX Figaro (Montrio Belton) and others are organizing a turkey giveaway in Fort Mill’s Paradise Community.

Paradise is Fort Mill’s historic black community that has been devastated in recent years by its rising poverty level. Paradise is located off Tom Hall Street and its two major corridors are Steele Street and Joe Louis Blvd.  Paradise is directly across the street from Wing King and CVS on Tom Hall (near downtown Fort Mill/Doby’s Bridge Road area).

What: 1) We are asking PAX members to donate one (1) FROZEN turkey, or 2) You may make a monetary donation which will be used for turkey purchases via Paypal to Chicken Hawk (paypal.me/BrianBrenner), or 3) Attend and help support the event and talk with community members about F3 and our mission.

How: Bring your turkey to your AO on Saturday morning 12/17 and give to the Q or any of the following PAX:  Figaro (contact below), Deacon (Twitter @careervaluebook), Chicken Hawk (Twitter @F3_Chicken_Hawk),  DaVinci – Lake Wylie (Twitter @DeeDubCLT), Bolt (803-415-1946, Twitter @F3Bolt), Boeheim (Twitter @F3_Boeheim). If you would like to donate but cannot attend a Sat. AO, please contact one of us. *** If anyone else can be a collection volunteer, please let us know! ***

or, bring your turkey donations to the event, info below.

When: We will distribute the turkeys and prayers at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 17th.

Where:  Dewey’s Barbershop (the community gathering spot).  Dewey’s barbershop is owned by Dewey Dixon and has operated at 109 Steele Street (Fort Mill, SC 29715) for nearly 50 years. Map: https://goo.gl/FQKlYq

Why:  About 25 men have been gathering at Eternal Church to try to determine ways that F3 can expand our reach into the community to develop male leaders through the F3 model. Conversations continue, but we are implementing Figaro’s great idea to build trust and show commitment by personally handing out turkeys to the community. This gives us the opportunity to engage, pray and introduce F3 to a community that we would like to impact.

Q’s and PAX, please spread the word!

For more information, contact Figaro (Montrio Belton), Montrio@montriobelton.com, Twitter @MontrioMontess or 803-517-4324.

PAX,

The goal is to come together and fellowship, get better and bring your family and friends visiting out for some good community fun. As men, we should be thinking about the gifts we have and what are we bringing to the divine, King of Kings who came on a Mission for each and everyone of us. Are you bringing your best?? Let’s see it on December 24th at The Yard!!!

On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.

Quick black blast today because I have some things to attend to this morning. 4 showed up on a perfect cool morning for a YHC led rinse and repeat circuit. Here’s how it went:

Warm-up laps around the drop off lane with high knees, butt kickers and side shuffles. Circle (square? diamond?) up in front of the school for some SSH, toy soldiers, IW, slow merkins and slow squats.

The circuit

Station 1 in front of school: 20 merkins, 20 squats, 20 LBCs

Mosey to station 2

Station 2 at top of drop off lanes near road: 20 wide arm merkins, 20 lunges, 20 curb dips

Mosey to Station 3

Station 3 at base of amphitheater: bear crawl up the hill 5 burpees (rinse and repeat x5)

Then back to station 1 and rinse and repeat all.

We got in 2 2/3 laps (nobody seemed to disappointed to miss the last Station 3)

LBC’s for a minute at COT to get our money’s worth.

Announcements and prayers for: potential new job, surgery recoveries and kids/family.

Really good group and we all hung together to squeeze out some 2nd F along the way.

Blessed to have this group and honored to lead.

Tchaser – out!

Rivergate Tour – No Tie Required

  • QIC: Fishsticks
  • When: 12/04/16
  • Pax: Mainframe, DaVinci, Royale, Bones, Whopper, Fishsticks
  • Posted In: Quagmire

6 men appeared out of the gloom for a workout on a cool, wet morning.  The low number may have been attributed to the weather, the late Panther’s game, or maybe the missing PAX forgot their ties at home like Cam!

After a quick disclaimer, we got started with some dynamic stretching in front of Best Buy.  Due to the cool weather, we stayed in motion throughout the workout.  Jogging to different locations (Buffalo WW, Sun Trust, Gander Mtn, Mattress Firm, Kay Jewelers) and performing the following exercises:

SSH x20

Imperial Squatter x10

Merkin x10

Moroccan Night Club x20

LBCs x20

Between stopping points, we had great discussions around life and living. Embracing the differences in others and sharing personal experiences so others can benefit from them.  Whopper shared his personal story and family background.

Next, we moseyed to the back of River Bleu for walk sits and Carolina Dry Docks.  We finished off the workout with storefront leg lunges and calf raises.  Great work by all!

Announcement:

Christmas party – Dec 17th

Joe Davis Run

Prayers:

Davinci – Work stresses

Royale – Christmas season and the real meaning

Whopper – Faith and trust in the future

Straight up #Cobains for the lateness of this BB for Golden Corral- Hope I get it out before today’s gets posted.

Well- GC is turning in to a Ruck centric work out- I’ll admit it, I’ve done it.  While the majority of the Pax took off with their backpacks, the men stayed back, grabbed a cinderblock and mosied to the church field.  My Q’s all have a common thread: constant movement + strength.  this morning would be no different.  After setting our blocks down at one end of the field- we move to the parking lot for a #warmorama

Warmorama

SSH, Merkins, SSH, MC, SSH, Peter Parker, SSH, Parker Peter

The Thang

Block work then movement consisting of a #downandback approx 40 yrds each way.  #downandbacks were running, backward running, shuffles, karoeke, bobby hurleys, crab walk and bear crawls

Block Work included curls, overhead press, squat, bent over rows, tricep ext, push ups, ski abs and the piece de resistance: cinder block burpee

Each circuit had 3 rounds of exercise and run

COT

Naked Man Moleskin

It had been a long time since I had done block work- these guys were filled with lead.  my hamstrings and core were crushed from bent rows and burpees.  Lets do it again!  Senator Tressel is the defintion of form.. and hair.  Love to see Falcon Crest catching the fire- keep bringing it.

Time: 0510 – 14 Ruckers Counted, 2 Boot Campers
Time: 0514 – 2 Boot Campers (Decibel and Falcon’s Crest) are provided each with a Ruck
Time: 0515 – Disclaimer briefly disclaimed and we started rucking. Not a lot of time.

Before we get to The Thang, a little lesson.

sleep·er cell
noun
a secretive group of spies that remain inactive within a target population until ordered to act.

Over the course of the past year, this sleeper cell (aka F3 Rucking Crew) has been slowly infiltrating the ranks. It started at the Swamp with just a few PAX and a simple, “Hey, I’ve got this extra ruck no one’s using, wanna join us?” A few visits to www.goruck.com and gear options galore. It started to spread a bit. Still not quite a movement, but something. Then a Custom Goruck at the Fort Announcement (get on the waitlist), A Brewruck (sounds fun?), a 20 mile overnight ruck (less fun) plus more to come. It was clear this morning that the sleeper cell was activated. If you haven’t tried rucking or a ruck workout, don’t worry, you will. You don’t have a choice anymore. This brings us to The Thang. Mind you, this is not your typical ruck or ruck workout. This is an F3 Ruck Beatdown! Oh yeah, it was raining. All rucks are 30# except for my M’s which Decibel got. It’s pink and 32#.

THANG
Mosey to the overhang by the Rite Aid for COP (Rucks On): Arm Twirly Things (fwd and back), Windmills IC X10, Merkins IC X5 and Mtn Climbers IC X15

Walk to Overhang for Meat and Potatoes portion of the workout

Partner Pyramid: Partner 1 Runs a lap around Rite Aid, Domino’s and Jersey Mikes while Partner 2 does the exercise. Flip Flop until the cumulative number is reached.

Running (Ruck Off)
Exercise (Ruck On or used as coupon/gear)

• 50 Burpees (Crowd Pleaser)
• 100 Merkins
• 150 Ruck Swings (Think KB Swing but with a ruck)
• 200 OH Flutters (Flutters with Ruck held overhead)
• 150 Ruck Curls
• 100 Merkins
• 50 Burpees (Most made it here, it sucked)

Almost everyone completed the series and we cleared about 2+ miles for the running portion. Strong work by all and this was a true beatdown. I already need a nap and I can’t lift my arms. Here are my notes.

Light the World – with random acts of kindness

“The Savior has taught us that He is the light of the world. (John 8:12) However, He has also taught us that we are to BE the light of the world! (Matthew 5:14) So how do we do this? The answer is simple, by doing as He did and serving daily.”

This year my wife and I decided to get involved in a national social media and local Fort Mill effort to help #LightTheWorld #LightTheWorldFortMill with random acts of kindness basically combining the ideas of “You’ve been Booed” with the movie “Pay It Forward.” What better way to help light the world than to enlist the Pax to help spread a little CHRISTmas kindness and cheer.

Here’s how it works:
Print off two or three copies of the “You’ve been Blessed” and “We’ve been Blessed” files found at the links below. Then deliver the printables and a gift or some goodies secretly to a friend, neighbor or random house. Next perform two acts of kindness or service (pay for someone’s meal at the drive through, rake some leaves, etc.) in secret or not so secret before Christmas and share it on social media to help encourage others to join in the cause. Use #LightTheWorld #LightTheWorldFortMill tags.

You’ve been Blessed Printable

We’ve been Blessed Printable

You will see these instructions are also included in the printable for the recipient to do the same. Hopefully this creates a viral nature and spreads to a large amount of people in our community as we get closer to Christmas.

We have 20 days and counting till Christmas! Please join us in helping light the world with random acts of kindness and by encouraging others to do the same during COT announcements and on Twitter.

Have a wonderful and blessed Christmas season!

@F3MaryLou

Update: We’ve had requests come in for nationally focused printables! This could be a REALLY big thing if you decide to get involved now and encourage others to do the same. If you want to pass on the love to your friends and family in other communities across the world to truly help light the world with acts of kindness, then click the link below to help get the materials out (or pass on the link to this blog post).

Yard Work

  • QIC: Rebel
  • When: 12/03/16
  • Pax: Car Bomb, Tico, Cotton Eye, Rebel (Q)
  • Posted In: Millllkshake

So this was the first time back to The Yard in a while.  Always a great AO so I was excited to be able to cover the Q when offered the opportunity.  The Yard starts at 7:00 and at 6:54 as I was the only one sitting in the parking lot I started checking Twitter and the web site to make sure the time and location had not been changed.  By 7:00 3 other pax rolled in and we had a few short comments and good mornings and then we were off.

Warm up with a short mosey around the back drive and back to the bus parking lot.  COP

  • SSH x 15
  • IW x 10
  • Mountain Climber x 10
  • Merkin x 10
  • Slow squat x10

This was a busy morning at the Yard with a lot of traffic coming to drop off for some school activity or parade staging.  On the back driveway each light pole we had an exercise.  Five light poles start at 1st exercise, run to 2nd exercise, back to 1st then 2nd and 3rd back to the 1st and it goes until the five poles are completed.  Poles:

  • 1st – Squats x 10
  • 2nd – Merkins x 10
  • 3rd – CDD x10
  • 4th – Wide Arm Merkins x 10
  • 5th – Full Sit ups

Mosey to back parking to escape the traffic.  Wasn’t hard to partner up and we did an exercise while the other partner ran the length of the lot and back and then switched.  Exercises were – SSH, Merkin, full sit up, dips, wall sit.

Mosey to the front lot with wall step ups, dips, derkins, lunge walk, partner assisted pull-ups under the breeze way and then some fast feet agility through the poles in the driveway.  With only a few minutes left we finished out with some Hello Dolly and crowd favorite of LBC with feet at 6 inches.

Time for COT….we discussed HOPE and what are you placing your hope in this season, year and next year.  We see people everyday that are hopeless and lost and we can be the Light for them and share Christ’s Love with them to turn hopelessness to hopeful.

We talked about the low number and how for this morning it was a perfect number.  The benefit of a low number is it will keep you accountable to do the full workout and not hide out and do half work.  It was also a benefit to get to know 3 more pax better than I knew them at 7:00.  Great work by all and a special shout out to Tico who has been out of the routine for over a year and this was his 3rd time back out.

Prayers and praises were lifted by each pax.  Special request for Car Bomb and his M as they are expecting their first child very soon.

Thanks to Hasselhoff for the opportunity to Q and Cake Boss for being out of town and I could take his spot.  Always a pleasure to Q.

Conditions cold rainy and 42 degrees

10 burpees because the train slowed down…Thank you Padre…

Disclaimer

Fast mosey to parking deck

Quick COP because my back was tight…you are welcome

Review of WOD = up 4.5 flights of stairs, 10 hand release push-ups, run across top deck, down 4.5 flights of stairs, run across bottom deck, 10 sidewinder burpees and that equates to a one, the goal was #AMRAP for 30 minutes or 28

Little #mumblechatter and everyone got to work and pushed the pace…The Situation lead and I think he got 9 laps in…

Platoon run home

20 LBC because it was raining and Italian Job said that is a requirement for rainy days…totally soaked with sweat and rain…nobody was cold…

COT / Prayer and Praise / BOM

Naked Man Moleskine

~Great effort today for a tough 45 minute workout, a very simple tribute to Firefighters
~Firefighters on 9-11 had to make 110 flights up and 110 flights of stairs down to survive…sadly most did not make it
~Our workout showed today as reminder that none of us would have survived even without carrying firefighting gear, and to simulate helping people we did extra exercises…very tough workout with runs on either end…(crowd pleaser)
~No quit in the group today, and nobody requested to stop working out and see if they could save themselves, and only take the 110 flights of stairs, solid group of #HIM
~You never know what the day will bring…train for the unexpected
~Reference verse for today = Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope”.
~Today felt a little Muthalike, and I need a nap…

Be a better man today than you were yesterday,
