2024 The Fort Dam to Dam Fundraising Initiative

Every year, several of us enthusiastically participate in the Dam to Dam Relay. Wondering what that is? The Dam to Dam Relay is an exhilarating 100K team relay that stretches from Lake Murray Dam in Lexington, SC, all the way to Lake Greenwood Dam in Greenwood. This adventure involves teams of 6, 4, or 3 runners sharing a van over a span of 8-10 hours.

But, why do we embark on this journey? It’s for the fellowship, to push our limits, and to encouraging others to do the same. Over the past five years, our partnership with local charities has culminated in raising over $100,000, which has immensely benefitted our community. Notably, the efforts of dedicated HIM’s produced the F3 Fort Mill Community Scholarship, benefiting all three Fort Mill High Schools.

Now, it’s that pivotal moment when we push our limits and accelerate. We do this selflessly and with the hope we inspire others to do the same along the way. This year, our collaboration is with Bethel Shelters, and we’ll continue supporting the F3 Fort Mill Community Scholarship. Our ambitious goal is to raise $50,000 or more, with proceeds evenly split between the two esteemed organizations.

I urge you, each one of you, to join our noble cause. Whether you’re joining us on the run or simply want to partake in our exciting events, see below for more details:

  • **10/14**: Join our poker tournament at the Springfield Clubhouse from 6 pm-12 am, spearheaded by our brethren, Fogerty and Kaiser. New to this year!

  • **11/10**: The renowned BBQ and Bourbon event, masterminded by Cyclops, is up next. Whether you’re there for the bourbon or just for Wegmans’ mouthwatering BBQ, this event stands as a testament to our fundraising spirit.

  • **12/8**: Experience ‘Shanking with Stang’ by our unique, sock-misplacing, trail runner who may or may not disappear in the woods for a short period of time, Stang. A little trivia: he’s a southpaw, but only in golf go figure!

  • **1/27**: The highly anticipated Dam to Dam Bar 10k is up, brought to life by our inspirational HIMs: Hardwood, L-Train, Long Duck, Console, Floppy Disc, Harry Carry, and many others. This is truly an event of the year!

  • **2/2**: A novel addition this year is the wine dinner, curated by the retired Nathan Pusher. An excellent opportunity to treat your M’s as a thank-you for all the support they’ve rendered by letting you have the hall passes to attend these events.

  • Date TBD – Finally, we have skeet shooting, under the adept guidance of our brother, Change Order. Don’t fret about equipment; it’s all provided.

As we wrap up, remember to not only participate but also get your companies, neighbors, and family members involved. Introduce them to this thing we call F3 through our 2nd F events. If you have any questions or are interested in volunteering (as we consistently need assistance for our events), please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thank you Men lets crush it this year!

YHC, Conerstone

Sandbags and logs

WARMUP: Windmills, 4 count squats, imperial Walker’s, merkins, then light ruck shuffle to loosen everything up.
THE THANG: Buy in: every 2:30 complete the following w/ruck on entire time: 10 squat cleans w/sandbag, 10 merkins, 10 OH sandbag press and 10 bentover sandbag rows. 4 rounds for 10 mins total. Honestly this was a terrible idea. It takes almost the entire 2:30 to complete so very little rest between rounds.
Quick break to recover them grab a couple of sandbags and move to back of school. Grab the logs, 3 PAX per log and move them back to front of school. Each team front rack carried their log the length of the parking lot. On other end perform 10 team overhead log presses then 10 team log squats. Front rack carry log back to start point. Set log down then complete the following: 3 rounds of 3 exercises. 1st round is 21 reps of each, 2nd round is 15, and last round is 9. 3 exercises were front ruck squats, overhead ruck presses, and swings.
Pick up the logs and take them back to spot behind school. Grab sandbags and move back to cars. Couple of minutes left so another 3 round, 3 exercise routine. This time reps are 15, 10, then 5. Exercises were overhead lunges, ruck curls, and flutters. Times up. Work was done and no one was injured. Successful morning!
Thx Sprocket for the opportunity.

Why did the Frog cross 160?

WARMUP: Ruck up!
THE THANG:
We left Kinsgley, heading south across 160, in the darkness of the gloom. Our goal was to check on those PAX loafing at The Coach’s Box. Very little traffic this early in the morning, so no troubles crossing. Lots of chatter about the recent Aaron Rodgers injury… could we match his snap count in miles this morning?
We had a great pace down Munn Rd, crossing to get onto FMHS property. Stopped in the student lot to do some exercises IC: Squats, Merkins, Shoulder Press. Ruck Up and continue.
Witnessed some loafing at the Coach’s Box. I guess that’s what happens when Cyclops is DR.
Touched HWY 21 and made the 180.
Stopped at the Gym for a few more exercises OYO: Step Ups and Dips on the benches. Ruck Up!
Good pace back across the parking lots and up the most underrated hill in The Fort by the football stadium.
Sugarbug and Shady began reminiscing of Michigan, it was too dark to tell if any tears were shed. Perhaps YHC will visit one day.
Stopped in the bank parking lot for a few more exercises IC: Squats, Up Right Rows and Shoulder press.
Safely made it back across 160. Made a small lap around the front of Kingsley and back to CoT. All PAX made it 3miles.
Perhaps Aaron Rodgers should ruck during his rehab?
MARY: None
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Were made.
COT: Stays in CoT.

In Honor Of September, 11, 2001

WARMUP: All PAX but Shield dropped in the plank with their ears wide open to listen to our brother Shield share his experience as an NYPD officer on 9/11/2001. This included the names of a few of Shield’s fallen brothers. Some of us have been fortunate enough to hear him talk about that day but every time I hear it, I take away something new. This morning was no different.
Following the plank, we mentioned a few numbers of significance for the PAX to think about:
9 & 11: This was obvious
22: Years since that day 22yrs ago
100: The number of days Ground Zero in NY smoldered
ALL PAX 100 Side Straddle Hops (50 in cadence) & 22 Burpees

THE THANG: Grab your bell and meet over by Clickbait’s trailer where we had more gear. Everyone has a weight of some kind for the following 9 exercises:
11x Kettle Bell Swings
11x Thrusters
11x Goblet Squats
11x Bent Over Rows
11x Overhead Tricep Extensions
11x Big Boy Sit-ups w/ Weight
11x Bicep Curls
11x Standing Lunges
11x Overhead Press

We went through these 9 exercises one more time and occasionally modified the cadence.

In groups of 4, we all got to experience the 200lb sand bags for 4 reps, taking the bag from the hips, to the shoulders, to an overhead position, back to the shoulders and finally, back to the hips. If we weren’t on the 200lb sand bag, we did the same evolution with our own coupon.

Then, back to 22 Side Straddle Hops & 11 Burpees.

MARY: Throughout
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Lots in the newsletter & THE BLOOD DRIVE
COT: Indeed
