Do 1 More

We had 10 for a Do 1 More workout at Bushwood.

The best part of a Do 1 More for the Q is that you don’t tell the PAX that they will have to do 1 more šŸ˜‰

Mosey from the football parking lot down the road toward the school.Ā  As we ran past each lamp post, PAX saw an exercise written on the pavement, which started some mumble chatter.Ā  After a little warm-up, PAX were instructed to get a piece of chalk and to AMRAP each of the 8 exercises, with good form, of course.

The 8 exercises were: Merkins, Squats, Burpees, Flutters, CDDs, SSH, Big Boys and Plank Jacks.

There was very little mumble chatter as we were all focused on counting.Ā  Gotta remember music next time šŸ˜‰

We then ran back down the hill where YHC told them to put their chalk back.Ā  Then we discussed doing 1 more.Ā  Do one more for your M, your 2.0’s, work, and for yourself.Ā  I think Kilbassa said he wanted to have 1 more beer šŸ˜‰

Then OYO, we completed 1 more rep than we did in round 1 without a timer.Ā  YHC got through the burpees and realized I left my chalk bucket back at the start so I hard to run back to get it and then fell behind.Ā  Stand and Hardwood picked me up as the 6.

Then we did a little Mary where FloppyDisk brought back the overhead claps that he forced us to do at Colesseum.Ā  That was just mean, but made us better.

Great workout gents!Ā  Thanks to Ltrain for the opportunity to lead.

Fresh off GR021, we’re now at the Fire Ant

If you were one of the 20 PAX that attended Fire Ant today, you heard me talk briefly about the impact of GR021 (GrowRuck 021) in Louisville this past weekend. Along with Olaf, Shady, Italian Job and Dark Helmet, I was blessed to participate in this extremely impactful weekend. Much like the rest of F3, the true benefits go way beyond the workout or in this case, the 14hr team ruck event spanning Saturday night into Sunday morning.

I tried to bring back just a taste of what we experienced and some of my learnings but unless you actually participate in these GrowRuck weekends, it’s hard to comprehend. However, I did want to bring a taste of the PT to our local PAX and so with 19 other Ruckers, we did the following.

Disclaimer

Warm Up
Jog, Knees to chest, Jog, Toy Soldiers, Butt Kickers, Jog back to our rucks

SSH x 5

Smiles for Miles

Going to start off saying I REALLY hate running, but when you get together with a good group of guys you just don’t think about what your doing you just do. That is what happened today. I took a Sub-Q at the Swamp and knew that this was a great place to get some running done. I’ve posted here many times within my 5 months of joining F3, and this place has always given me the ability to excel in running. So I figured that is what I’m going to base my Q off of. RUNNING.

So here is the workout.

LOTS of running. To be precise 3.14, but whose counting.

We mosey to Home Depot for a quick warm up.

Some windmills, Moroccan night clubs,Ā  and some Imperial Walkers.

After the quick warm up we did a lot of running. We hit Pain Stations at Kohl’s, Ulta Beauty, Old Navy, and at Mattress Store. At these locations we did various exercises focused on abs and chest only. These were OYO stations. Counts varied from 5-30 depending on workout. Always hitting both body parts at each station. Sometimes twice. That was just the first lap. That’s right we completed 2 laps around the Swamp.

Hitting the second lap we did Pain Stations at Kohl’s, and Ulta Beauty with again doing ab and chest work outs. After Ulta Beauty, running low on time we made our round back to COT running up 160 to the CVS entrance and back to Best Buy.

These guys did awesome. Without having the accountability and push of each other this could have sucked more so than it did. When I started I couldn’t even run 1 mile without walking some. With the push of all these guys at all AO’s I can do a lot more than I ever thought I could. This Q is an example of that. Again as I stated above I HATE running, but with these guys it’s not running it’s just something I really don’t have words for other than family time.

That was a lot of sit-ups

My 2nd of 3 Q’s in 3 days. Always a pleasure to Q The Swamp!Ā  Now that I am Ruck free and with no big race on the schedule I’m free to just do regular old Bootcamps. My favorite workouts combine a good amount of running(big surprise) with a bunch of other stuff so that is what we did today andĀ  was glad to have a bunch of guys to share it with.

Started off with s nice mosey warm-up with some dynamic warm-ups of butt kicks, high knees, shuffles and some karaoke.

Circle up in the HD parking lot for COP consisting of SSH, IW, Carolina Dry Dock, Peter Parker, Mountain Climbers, then a series of Downward dog to Honeymooner. Back on our feet for Windmills, Apollo Ono(look out for the car), and just for fun some Monkey Humpers.

Mosey to the bike racks at HD for the main thing. Partner up for a nice BOMBS routine. One partner does the exercise the other does a lap around Home Depot.Ā  ThereĀ  were some complaints that the lap was a little long even though I assured them it was only about 1/4 mileĀ  I was accused of measuring Zima miles.

50 Burpees, 100 Overhead claps, 150 Merkins, 200 Big Boy Sit-ups(crowd favorite), 250 Supine Pull-Ups(only because I hate squats and I needed an S).Ā  We did not make through all the pull-ups, headed back to COT for a few minutes of Mary, ending with a Body Destroyer.

Thanks as always for the opportunity to lead this great group!!

Just a Mere Tune-Up

How in the world did I get the honor of Qing one of the most popular ruck workouts of the year? I don’t know but I didn’t want to disappoint. Usually, that last comment means it’s time to absolutely BRING IT. But the trick this AM was to find that balance of bringing it but not killing it since we’re dangerously close to being short on GRH/GRT/GRL PAX.

Alright, I’ve got my head right, Weinke written and little sleep. Yup, par for the course so let’s roll. 24 brothers joined me at the Fire Ant this morning which for those who’ve not attended, is building quite the strong brotherhood. Again, here’s my plug to try rucking for a month and see if you set the ruck down.

After we disclaimed and talked about the upcoming event this weekend, we made our way to the sidewalk to get in two lines with rucks opened on the ground for a mock inspection. Once complete, zip up, ruck up and fall into 2 lines for a ruck lap around the loop.

Once the lap was complete, stay in 2 lines and lay the rucks on the ground on the outside of the lines. In formation, Side-Straddle Hops, Imperial Walkers, Sumo Squats & Moroccan Night Clubs. Now for a little BEEP BEEP, I’M A JEEP!!

In formation, drop to a squat, hold the ruck out front and duck walk for a bit. Then some ruck curls. Then, drop to a squat, hold the ruck out front and reverse duck walk for a bit back to the starting point. Guess what? More ruck curls.

Now, rotate 90deg so you’re facing the outside, away from the other line for shoulder presses, upright rows and bent over rows. Then a nice set of flutters WITH the needed presses.

Line up on the left side of the 2 long straight-aways for an exercise with the ruck, leave your ruck and run to the far end, do an exercise then run back to your ruck. Here’s the set list:

10 Ruck Thrusters, leave the ruck and run to the other end

5 8ct Burpees then run back

20 Ruck Curls (great on paper), leave the ruck and run to the other end

10 8ct Burpees then run back

Back in our 2 lines of formation for:

12ct Merkins…sans Ruck

Flutters w/ the Press

LBC’s w/ the Rucks up

Box Cutters w/ the Rucks up

More Beep Beep, I’m a Jeep stuff

THAT’S IT!!!

See, not so bad. Just another Tuesday in The Fort.

IT was a fun filled day at The Ranch and the PAX worked hard and pushed each other. Message was about being prepared and no matter if its preparing for breakfast or for retirement, as a leader we need to be ready for the expected. Today my Director resigned from our team and company. We don’t know who our leader will be or what our organizationĀ will look like, but as leader of my work and home I need to look in the mirror and say, Get After It! There is no waiting to see where the chips fall,Ā  but to get out in front and lead. Reflect on all things in your life and address those things that you need to get prepared for……finances, stronger marriage, tough talks with the kids and death. Don’t leave these for someone else to take care of.

Thanks Jiffy for the lead…..humbled and honored!!

Getting better with bricks

Great Morning at The Ranch on Thursday. 12 men came to get stronger and better.Ā  Theme of the month at The Ranch AO is Get Better.Ā  Jiffy (AO Q) leading the way here on themes.Ā  Asking the PAX, when you think of getting better, what words come to mind?Ā  PAX answers with many great examples.Ā  Included in there were #Commitment and #Consistency. When we have talked about leadership and disruption, often times, my mind goes towards having an epiphany or that “movie moment”.Ā  But success can be found in getting base hit after base hit rather than going for the homerun.

Mosey toward the Elementary school to the newly discovered rock pile.Ā  Grab 2 rocks size/weight of a brick.Ā  Continue around backside of school.Ā  Stop for some pearls on a string- SSH, Squat, M’ Nightclubs, shoulder press.Ā  continue to back lot for pearls of the same.

More warm up so 5 burpees/take a lap x3. More pearls on a string.

Low Series

  • Bear crawl down- 10 Merk
  • Crawl bear back- 10 CDD
  • Lunge walk down- 10 Squat
  • Crab walk back- 10 Dips

Rinse/Repeat X3

Grab Bricks and head to bus/road entrance

BLIMP Accumulator (with bricks)

  • Burpee 5
  • Lunge 10
  • Imperial Walker 15
  • Merkin 20
  • Plank jack 25

Mosey back (long way) to rock pile, drop ’em and head to flag.

Great morning and outstanding chatter.Ā  Thanks for the opportunity Jiffy
