Did someone say party @ Laces In…

Woke up this morning to a cool breeze which helped me forget the stiffness I felt from my first post the day before at Clydesdale’s.  13 PAX showed up for the party and ready to work.

Disclaimer and off we went

Warm-ups

Mosey to large parking where we lined up at the closest curb. Facing the field, we started with Side-shuffles. Proceeded down to the light post and returned facing the opposite way. Then it was time for some carioca down, toy soldiers back, followed by some knee to chest walks.

Mosey to center of parking lot and circle up:

Windmill x15

Low-slow squat- x15

Shoulder claps- x30

Moroccan night club- x40

Happy Jacks (Bonsai’s favorite FYI)- 5 rounds – 5 SSH/2 squat jumps for each

Mountain Climbers- x15

Honeymooner into Downward Dog- repeat x1

Mosey to the parking lot towards the back near the football practice fields for some Light post work. Not exactly 4 -corners so I had to audible.

The Thang:

Partner-up- size did not matter. Each of the 4 light posts had 3 rounds of exercises on it. Between each exercise, PAX were to either sprint or bear crawl to the next light post, depending on distance. The 2 LP with the further distance carried a sprint, and the smaller ones the bear crawl. 2nd round of short distances carried a walk lunge, with the third alternating between bear crawls and walking lunges respectively.

Light Post 1

Merkins- x20

Burpees- x10

Wide-arm Merkins- x15

Light Post 2

Jump squats x10

Low slow x10

Calf raises x40

Light Post 3

Mountain Climbers x15

Plank Jacks x20

Ski Jumps x15

Light Post 4

LBC x30

Reverse Crunches x20

American Hammers x25 (cadence)

Once completed, PAX met in the middle for a short talk on “Presence.” I find this word to be one of the most relevant in our time as parents. Take the time each day, even if it is just 5 min. to talk to your M’s and your 2.0’s.  Recommended “Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters” again to the PAX as a great book for insight into your daughter’s development (Thanks again Pusher for the first Rec). PAX broke the circle and mosey to the next stop, small parking lot in the back.

Next up- a round of 7’s

PAX lined up on one of the lot and started with 1 dip. Bear crawl to the other side and complete 6 CDD. Run backwards to the starting spot and complete 2 dips. Continue this pattern until the PAX reach 6 dips and 1 CDD.

Unfortunately, I had to skip the pull-up work due to time. Next up was a mosey over to the wall at the school. Wall sits for a 10 second count for each of the 13 PAX. Recover for a ten count and then up for a little Ballz to the Walls. 20 count, recover for 10, and then up again. Recover.

Mosey back towards COT, stopping in the connection sidewalk between the two parking lots. Quick circle up for some SSH x 40. Mosey back towards COT to the curb where it all started at the far end of the lot. Line up and turn around facing the school. With 3 minutes to go, what better way to complete a strong finish then a round of suicides. Everyone pushed hard to the end. Mosey back to COT.

Quick round of Hello Dolly.

Inappropriateness got heavy at the swamp

8 Men must have not read the Twitter insult by ChaChing and posted to The Swamp for the inappropriatness that is YHC.
Pulled into launch at 5:15 and started immediately into a detailed disclaimer before challenging the PAX to get uncomfortable. The goal was simple: get uncomfortable in order to get better. Ask the PAX to move random heavy things from starting location to other side of AO. Sounded simple enough on paper, mumble chatter confirmed it was much harder than originally planned. Had to make a pitstop half way to get in a quick “Circle of Hump” and two rounds of “Circle of Merkins”. Once in front of Michaels PAX dropped coupons and attention for focused on wonderful list of exercises written in parking spots:
One person per spot with 6in plank hold member being the timer. Exercises were:
– 45 degree lunges
– dot drill
– curls with a coupon of choice
– overhead shoulder press
– spider merkins
– jump squats
– shuttle run
– 6 in plank hold
– burpees
– Mike Tysons

Made it through one round of exercises before calling a coupon less jailbreak back to COT for some cha-cha merkins to keep the serratus shredded.

Announcements and prayers

NMM: Not gonna lie coupons got heavy quicker than expected and at one point was questioning if all PAX were going to make it, YHC included. Greatfull for the motivation and harassment from the PAX to push it and encourage each other to embrace the shared suffering. I’m always trying different things in an effort to challenge everyone to get outside their physical and mental comfort zone BC I feel that’s where true growth occurs. It would be much easier for YHC and probably the PAX to roll through a typical bootcamp beatdown but I enjoy switching things up and hope the PAX doesn’t mind. Thanks again ChaChing for the opportunity.

Burpee Plank Chase at the Ranch

Things got a little bumpy right from the start as the PAX arrived and learned that Jiffy is having some work done to improve the AO.  Cones everywhere and new pavement is going in.  Modification therefore stared early as the PAX were forced to park somewhere other than our normal place.

The PAX of 9 gathered near the entrance to the Middle School rather than the Elementary School and received their notification of the element of risk that laid before them.  With that we were off on a mosey to the front of the middle school.

Warm up:

  • Honeymooner and downward dog – the mumble chatter broke this one up pretty quickly…..
  • SSH x52
  • Windmill x10
  • Merkin x10

The Thang:

Burpee/Merkin/Plank Chase – The PAX lined up in a plank position with a 10 yard separation between each man.  The first man ran up to the next man in plank, performed a burpee and jumped over the planking man at the top of the burpee.  He then ran to the next member of the PAX and did the same until he reached the end of the line.  For the men holding plank, they performed a hand release merkin each time a member of the PAX on the burpee chase passed them.  When the last PAX passed them, they would start the chase.  This continued for the full drop off circle which is a quarter mile.  With the number of PAX in attendance, everyone had the chance to do the burpee chase 3 times for one lap around the circle.

Regroup at the front of the school and each man grabbed a bench for leg work.

  • Squat Jumps Slow – lower until your six is on the bench and then explode up.  Done slowly in cadence x10
  • One Leg Squats – Put one leg the bench and squat with the other leg x10 each leg
  • Squat Jumps Fast – Q yells out Down to lower six to the bench and then up for exploding into a jump.  Done in quick cadence (approximately 1 per second) X10
  • Calf Raises Straight x10
  • Calf Raises Out x10
  • Calf Raises In x10
  • Run a lap 1/4 mile

Line back up for another round of the Burpee/Merkin Plank Chase.

Leg work again:

  • Squat Jumps Fast x20
  • Calf Raises Straight x20
  • Calf Raises Out x15
  • Calf Raises In x15

Mary:

  • Dying Cockroach x25
  • Big Boy Sit-ups x15

Announcements – Convergence this Saturday

It was an honor to Q such a strong group of HIM!  Thank you to Jiffy for the opportunity!

“Mostly” running the trails

Finally had the M at home so I could head to the Carolinas Thread Trail near home that the Lake Wylie PAX have been using for Ragnar Relay training.

“It’s just running, QBert” they said as I eagerly picked up the Q from IcedT

Started running the trail and then called out 5 SSH to the rear PAX who then had to make it to the front of the line (Indian Run) rotated through as we could careful to only pass when the trail was wide enough so this helped take up some time and keep everyone focused.

Found a bench on the way and stopped for 30 dips

Indian Run again with 1 burpee for the rear PAX

Bench #2 more dips

Lunge walked up a big hill and then kept running to the Daniel Stowe parking lot

At the parking lot, we broad jumped one set of spaces, lunge walked the next, and then sprinted to the end.

After a scenic lap in front of the garden, we walked backwards back to the trailhead

I put a different PAX in front every 5 ish minutes to change up the pace and we stopped once for dips on the way back.

Made it back to CoT with everyone for the better.

Two Ferns has had 2 deaths in the family this past week. IcedT is lifting up brothers looking for jobs, let’s join him.

Thanks IcedT, keep up the good work!

Wonder Twin Powers

13 Pax gathered at the Deep for an unheard of beatdown by YHC and Ginsu. So heres the backstory….YHC was given the honor of Qing the Deep by Shakespeare (Keep up the great leadership!) One of the Pax that YHC wanted to get to know better was Ginsu, our 1st F Q. So, in an unheard of move that was borderline ridiculous, we went for it. Ginsu added a bit of variety by  bringing his speaker to play some tunes throughout the workout. Lots of mumble chatter came from this.

The Pax of Lake Wylie are known for giving it their all and they did not disappoint. Gansu was prepared and YHC brought an old school Dirty McDeuce (courtesy of OBT) to the group.

The discussion was impact which was a carryover from the 3rd F Convergence from the day before. YHC admires the impact that Pax of F3 the Fort are making in the community. However, the best opportunity/need for impact is those who fall into your first 2 circles of Concentrica. The M and 2.0s. Fittingly, Bones posted with Link, his 2.0 who brought it for the workout and clearly Bones is making an impact with this one.

Beyond- Freedom has never been easy.

Always an Honor to Q. To be able to push men Beyond their comfort zone. To teach and be tought.  America has given me freedoms that most of the world can not even fathom. Freedom has been given to us all by the selfless acts of men and women willing to give themselves up so that we can live like other country.

We started with a disclaimer. Let all know who I was and checked to see if we had any FNGs. None present so made amentsl mental note to self that I need to work harder on bringingthis gift to other men in my reach. We took off with slow mosey that led into some dynamic movements Stopped for Pledge of Allegiance and then circled up. We warmed up to the acronym FREEDOM (Flutter kicks, Rosalita, empty wheelbarrow, Everests, donkey kicks, outlaws, and Mtn. Climbers) we than did 17 Merkins in cadence followed by 76 SSHs in cadence.
We moseydto drop off in front of school did the next 5 exercises followed by sprint Squat jumps, merkins, bomb jacks, CDDs, burppees 10 of each.
Mosey to small car circle. Get into discussion on true freedom and that is through Jesy=us CHrist. Q had found verses in bible that talked about freedom through him and matched it up with some good exercises. Fastest each round would get to read next verse. Here they are if you want to li=ook them up.Romans *:16- 10 jumpsquats. john 8:32 burpees- 1 peter 2:16-17- 10 grave diggers each side, 1 cort. 6:12 10 jumping lunges, 1 cort. 9:19 10 tony hawk burpees, Acts 13:39 10 bomb jacks, 2 cort. 3:17 15 squats, Psalm 119:45 20 CDDs, romans 6:6-7 20 merkins, gal. 5:1 10 hand release merkins, Gal. 5:13 20 Monkey Humpers, Psalm 118:5 20 flutter kicks. COT. Prayers, and Praises.
Thank You was an Honor.
