Spooky Halloween Dance Party

Today at the Ballroom, we took the AO name seriously and had a Halloween dance party. All movements were done in cadence with the music. The list of movements were as follows, and the order was totally arbitrary.

Step touch
SSH
Thrillers
Overhead claps with step touch
Hillbilly walkers
Side straddle hops
Jumping lunges
Grave diggers
Imperial walkers
Merkins
LBCs
Squats
Zombie walks

As always, I disclaim “anything you say can and will be used against you”. I exercised this statement to throw in some burpees by popular request.

at the call of “aaaand that’s 6 O’clock”, some PAX were surprised that we were already finished.

COT: Pax pushed hard today, esp after lap 1 during which there was much mumblechatter. It’s cold out but not too cold for these HIMs!

Tesla and Shady were kings — crushed it, nowhere in sight!

16 pax owned Main St Fort Mill during first lap…should’ve had a camera recording the scene for a hype vid

Themes of Grace, Disgrace, Expectations and Shame running across my radar in recent days/weeks. Stirring interview with Marcus Mumford included his living for a long time “under layers and layers of shame.” Reflections on that article and his recent songs continue to draw me deeper. Check it out and reflect on your own experience — https://www.gq.com/story/gq-hype-marcus-mumford

Thanks for the invite Jekyll! Missed you!

Always an honor, pax! Thanks for pushing yourself and me today!

After the big boy situps, bearcrawl to the right to starting point and perform 25 burpees.

NMM:
The mission of F3 is the invigoration of Male Community Leadership. Throughout the workout we all listed the guy who EHed us. None of those guys happened to be at this workout. And that’s part of what invigorating leadership looks like.

It’s easy to be a consumer of F3, just to show up and workout, but that’s not the mission. Accelerating fitness is part of invigoration male community leadership, but if we aren’t developing new leaders and encouraging guys to take that VQ, plant a shovel flag, etc. then we’re missing the mission.

I’m going to tap into my Christian roots and my favorite hymn: God of Grace and God of Glory, third verse (deep cuts).
“Grant us wisdom, grant us courage
lest we miss your kingdom’s goal,
lest we miss your kingdom’s goal.”

Prayer: Let us not miss the goal.

Snake Pit is a gear workout

I arrived in excellent spirits completely unaware that Snake Pit is a kettlebell workout. As I was without a kettlebell or an appropriate weinkie, I had to improvise quickly. I borrowed a kettlebell and possessing both a deck of cards and a Bluetooth speaker, for my planned bootcamp Q, lead the PAX to the bottom of the hill.

On the walk, I could only think of four exercises. PERFECT! There are only 4 suits in a deck of cards. Unfortunately, all I could think of was: manmakers (spades), swings (clubs), big boy situps (hearts), and squats (diamonds). Sometimes when the pressure of the moment is upon you, your mind gravitates to a core workout that is less that effective (big boy situps) and an exercise like manmakers which is best done in more limited rep counts than a deck of cards provides. Swings and Squats are more appropriate for a deck of cards, so 50% ain’t bad, right?

It’s important to remind that PAX that occasionally at an F3 workout, you get what you paid for. I think that’s core principle number one.

To make up for my chosen exercises, I called a run to the top of the hill (intersection with FM Parkway) after each 5 cards. Surely this would give the PAX plenty of time to come up with disgruntled yet witty mumblechatter. They did not disappoint. I even chose to leave my phone in the car so I could skip the initial run and retrieve it. Now for the remainder of the workout, we at least had tunes coming from the Bluetooth speaker.

As luck would have it, I have never shuffled a deck of cards before and we had 42 manmakers in the first string of 5 cards. While the PAX showed great resilience in the face of such a steep rep count, I realized that I will read the Site Qs invite a little more carefully next time. Also, I feel my desired name change to Batman could now be in jeopardy.

My final error in judgement this morning was accepting Band Camp’s offer to write this backblast for me.

Butterflies 🦋 & bidets 🚽

WARMUP: broga…I crushed it and didn’t use my sissy yoga mat which I guess is now frowned upon. Who knows but the stretching was wonderful.
THE THANG: short run Dora…about 50 yard run way down in the elementary parking lot. Partner up for 100 diamond merkins, 200 lunges, 300 double count flutters.

Headed over to the hill for 7s. Hand release merkins at the bottom, half way up the hill for CDD. Before we started, YHC asked how to balance servant leadership with frustration with patience with a little bit of perspective.

After 7s we headed to the pull up bars with under 5 min remaining.
– 1 pull-up, dangle for 10 seconds, then
– 2 pull-ups, dangle for 20 seconds, then
– 3 pull-ups, dangle for 30 seconds, then
-4 pull-ups, dangle for 40 seconds…
Body wash won and made it to 4 and 40! He gets to continue being site Q!
MARY: not today
ANNOUNCEMENTS: newsletter, Columbia 10 year, trash pick up, men’s shelter
