Log Jam at the Highland Games

YHC celebrated 37 trips around the sun today and could think of no better way to start it off then with my brothers at Currahee!

WARMUP: Some stretchy things
THE THANG: The PAX went to the back of the school to find the logs. Two teams carried 2 logs (aprox 100-1000 lbs each) around the school and dropped them in the field. Pax lined up on the fence line for 4 rounds of the following
– 10 merkins
– 10 Squat
– 10 Ruck Curl
– 7 Man Makers
Ruck overhead carry to failure then suitcase carry length of the field.
Rinsed and repeated this routine for 4 rounds then split up for some Highland Games style relay log flip race! Pays to be a winner!
One more round of the movement above then losing team had to carry all rucks across the field while winning team jogged back and forth until the six was in.
Each team loaded up their log (aprox 500 – 5000 lbs each) to take back around the school – rotating as needed.
Ruck back to front parking lot for ruck overhead carry to failure back to COT – no one failed!
Olaf took us out with some BROGA
MARY: BROGA
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Charity brew ruck on Thursday – Bourbon and BBQ coming back in Nov – GORUCK Star Course coming in early October (lots of interest here) – Grow Ruck Valley Forge coming later in the Fall – Cylops is HC! – Currahee should be busy with all these events coming!
COT: You had to be there

Just go.

WARMUP: SSH 20, low slow squats 10, 5 burpees…go time
THE THANG: Being DR all last week and no working out, aside from eating and drinking, made this a bit more sucky than it needed to be but the only way to jump in is with both feet. So running with push-ups got the call.

Here’s what we got: every .25 miles = 25 merkins. After mile 1 and mile 1.75 (which is top of the hill in the back of the school), we waited for the six doing flutters.

Simple but effective. Total mileage was between 3-3.5. Some of us (🙋‍♂️) owe a few more merkins as form started to suffer or time to get back was creeping up.
MARY: More flutters and American hammers.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Final countdown CSAUP, QSource on Tuesday Baxter SBUX, be there!
COT: Change Order and his family, kids going off to camps, travel

Rucking with push-ups

Plans had to be changed slightly as there were only 3 of us there but I still made sure we get our moneys worth of the early wake up.
We left the sandbags and ladder in the car and rucked around the school for 2.86 miles with 10 merkins every 3 minutes on the minute, total of 200 merkins. We finished up with 3 minutes of abs lab.

Great time to catch up with Mainframe and Divac.

I’ll keep the ladder handy for my next Q…

We prayed for our families, kids, patience and a great summer for everyone.

Tinsel out!

The Forts fastest AO

Tuesday July 12th seabiscuit becomes the Forts newest official AO. Join us in the parking lot of Blues smokehouse @5:15am at the corner of Doby’s bridge rd and the bypass. This is going to be a speed based running AO, geared towards improving overall speed. If you’re not fast, then this is for you. If you are fast, this is also for you. It’s kinda like Disney, there’s something for everyone.

Treehugger Ruck WOD at Chupacabra

We honored our brother Treehugger with a Ruck version of the WOD.
5 rounds of:
10 sandbag rows
20 flutter kicks with ruck overhead
30 merkins
40 yard sandbag toss
50 yard sandbag farmers carry
1/4 mile run/ruck

It was a sweat fest and the merkins with the ruck on received the most complaints.

We prayed for the people affected by the accident at the beginning of the bear race, prayers for our families and for patience and balance on our minds.

I will suggest to keep a water bottle handy when working out in this heat and humidity, I had to pull mine out of the car 10 minutes into to WOD.

Stay hydrated brothers!!

Respect Bday Q

YHC was honored to Q minnow pond on my actual 50th (RESPECT) birthday. since the theme is 50, the route was a loop with 5 pain stations with 3 exercises of 10reps (to equal 50 reps per exercise and lap). Goal was 5 laps for the gazelles.

The stations were at Main/Tom Hall, Tom Hall/Withers, Withers/Confederate, Withers/Watson, and Railroad/Main.

Unfortunately I scheduled skin cancer surgery 2 days prior without thinking about the implications. Doctor requested I not exercise for 2 weeks but I couldn’t resist. Reason why I mention this is as a Public Service Announcement: use sun screen all year long and always reapply daily to avoid skin cancer.

Hardest 24 minutes in all of The Fort…

WARMUP: Sasquatch ran the PAX to a lit area and instructed them to form 3 lines facing him (2 lines of 4 and 1 line of 3).  After some initial gloom-fogged math and logistics, he got to limbering up the PAX for the first 15 minutes.  Queue *SPONGEBOB VOICE* “21 minutes later” the handoff was completed to YHC (SkateOrDie)
THE THANG: Given that YHC was shorted 6 minutes, we had to forego the body destroyers and get after it… the PAX moseyed (alright, just short of dead sprint) around to the back of the school (NAFO) and found some picnic tables and benches.  The group performed step ups while 1 PAX ran around the outer sidewalk, serving as the timer.  Upon completion, the next PAX ran while the group did box jumps. Rinse and repeat 2 more times. The PAX then repositioned (again, just short of dead sprint) to the pull-up bars behind the JROTC building. Next up, the group completed 1 pull-up, 2 chin-ups, and 3 merkins, rinsing and repeating, while 1 PAX ran to the stop sign at the top of the hill as a timer. Repeato until the remaining PAX ran. The PAX again repositioned (yeah yeah dead sprint…blah blah) to the hill behind Sugar Creek Elementary School. After hearing some mumblechatter about the stupid things we do, YHC implored the PAX to realize that the “stupid things” we choose to do are preparing us for the “tough stuff” that we have to do at other points in our lives. Next up, Jacobs Ladder (1 big boy sit-up at the bottom, 10 burpees at the top). We made it through 4-5 rounds for each of the PAX before repositioning (“quickly”) 1 last time to the bottom of the hill back to NAFO. Once a 10-count was counted, jail break sprint back to the stop sign at the top of the hill and then back to COT for MARY!
MARY: Flutters and Hammers were on the menu, followed by… wait for it… THE BODY DESTROYER!!
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Read your newsletter!
COT: 🙏🏻s for both spoken and unspoken items on our ♥️s. Thanks for the opportunity to lead gentlemen!!!
