For this one I went back to my roots, the Dora 1-2-3.

Warmup SSH, Hillbilly Walkers, Cherry Pickers.  Mosey to the middle school entrance for some cover.  Discuss where the name (Dora) for the workout came from.  Procrastinate.

Partner up for Dora with 100 Pistol bench squats, 200 Carolina dry docks, 300 Freddy Mercuries

Go over what the word of the month, Victory.  You can’t have a victory without a struggle, without the risk of losing.

20 jump squats, 20 slow merkins, 20 jump squats, 1 min partner plank (1 arm plank with some support from your parnter by placing your hand on their shoulder), 20 jump squats, 1 min other arm partner plank

wall sits with everyone getting a request for the setlist, 1 leg up, other leg up, (something else?), switch for balls2wall, back to sits for 2 more requests, then balls2wall with shoulder taps x10

The Hive 2017.44

This workout was a triple-triple.  Three sets of three rounds of three exercises.

1st – Snatch, Russian Twist, Tricep Extension
2nd – Wall sit, Flutter w/ bell, Curl
3rd – Single Leg Deadlift, Freddy Mercuries, and Chest Press
Between each set there was a 100 yd mosey for active rest.

Since there was a few minutes left 3 sets of KB swings.

Simple as that.

Backblast: 17 for 17 at The Colosseum

16 men joined YHC for some fun on the concrete at The Colosseum.

After the disclaimer was said we moseyed around the parking lots until we found the perfect spot for a warmup.

WARMUP:

  • side straddle hops x20
  • windmill x10
  • squats x30
  • merkins x15
  • mountain climbers x15
  • LBCs x15

Mosey about 10 feet to the first set of painted road arrows. There are 17 of these over about 1/10th of a mile stretch. We did the follow exercise at each set of arrows and then hauled it back to the start:

  • 1 burpee
  • 1 burpee + 3 merkins
  • 3 jump squats
  • quick break for some Captain Thor – up to 6 x 24
  • 5 carolina dry docks
  • 2 big boy sit ups
  • finish up with boats and canoes x a lot

Announcements included T-giving day convergence, Christmas party.

Praise for Ginsu’s daughter (successful surgery), prayers for marriages, family.

Ginsu took us out in prayer.

Everyone on line.  Lunges with kettle bell pass thru until thighs quiver.  Then drop the kettlebell and sprint to the end of the parking lot.  X 2

Slow Mosey to the Wall.  10 count for each PAX,  wall sits with the bell.  Who had to be the one who says “arms straight out”.

Balls to the Wall, 5 count for each PAX.

Sermon was about taking life for granted. I talked about travels, family, work, and how my stuff has gotten complicated over the last few weeks. On Sunday night I did the Capital Ruck Tour in Atlanta with a blind Marine who did the entire ruck with us. A few times on our route our path got dark and I wanted to complain about my path getting dark and hard to see (+I forgot my headlamp), and I quickly realized how “silly” that sounds after hearing John’s testimony on Sunday night. Each day we should realize how good we have it rather than waiting for things to be taken away to make us understand…

Cheddar shared a great message in COT about getting your $hit together as men because tomorow is not guaranteed…

The Armory 2017.42

There were only 6 at the Armory this day.  I suppose some were intimidated by the forecast of rain, but mother nature for some reason waits for 6am for these kinds of things.

Dead Hangs from chain 15 sec (not to self: this is much harder than a rope, don’t try this without gloves), from horizontal bar 30 sec, modified dead hang 60 seconds… hopefully no one has to hang on to anything to save their lives.

Sitting Leg Raises x20, Russian Twist, Freddy Mercury

For legs was the slow lunge walk with bell pass through, then sprint for a total distance of 100 yards.   3 rounds: 20/80, 30/70, 40/60… FNG Tenure ran like he was storming Normandy.  He can carry his weight really fast when needed.

Mosey back to COT for some Protractor round robin.

Partner up
Partner 1 lung walks with both bells 20 yds and back while Partner 2 wall sits
(round 2 and 3 was changed to squats with bells in racked position)

This was a wonderful morning that appeared like it was going to be just me and Fire Marshall Bill, but Stones came in for this second post ever, and Vernon came in on two wheels at 5:17 cause he spaced and forgot where he was going or why he was a wake at 5:15 in the morning, apparently.

Pillars of Pain

Tuesday was hot and muggy, like everyday this week.  PAX sweating from just talking before the workout. It was oppressive and the workout didn’t help.

The Thang

Warm Up with a quick Mosey and a COP:

Mosey to the Pillars of Pain

Loop in front of Middle School is .2 miles, run that loop with pace and then do the Exercise at each Pillar – Decided not to accumulate, was a good decision.

Pillar 1 – 10 Burpees

Pillar 2 – 25 Merkins

Pillar 3 – 25 Carolina Dry Docks

Pillar 4 – 25 Monkey Humpers

Pillar 5 – 25 Curb Calf Raises (per leg)

Pillar 6 – 50 SSH

Pillar 7 – 25 Squats

PAX finished and we did 2 laps with sprint intervals from lamp post to lamp post.

Then some Mary – Freddy Mercury, American Hammers, Protractor, Ins and Outs.

When it gets cooler out (or when the Q can do it) this will turn into an Accumulator.

15 HIM showed up to The Coop ready to put in work on this muggy October morning.  YHC hadn’t been to this AO in quite some time and I was excited to be back.  Off we went to the practice field.  Circle up at the 50.

Lunge walk to the 50 stopping at every 10 for 10 squats.

Reverse lunge the last 50 and stop at every 10 for 10 monkey humpers

Bear crawl to the 50 and stop at every 10 for 10 merkins.

Crab walk the last 50 and stop at every 10 for 10 dips

Round 3:

Reverse bear crawl to the 50 and stop at every 10 for 5 merkins.

Reverse crab walk to the 50 and stop at every 10 for 10 dips.

Round 4:

Partner up…size matters

Partner 1 carry partner 2 to the 50 with 5 squats at every 10.  Switch and finish to the goal line.
