Hardest 24 minutes in all of The Fort…

WARMUP: Sasquatch ran the PAX to a lit area and instructed them to form 3 lines facing him (2 lines of 4 and 1 line of 3).  After some initial gloom-fogged math and logistics, he got to limbering up the PAX for the first 15 minutes.  Queue *SPONGEBOB VOICE* “21 minutes later” the handoff was completed to YHC (SkateOrDie)
THE THANG: Given that YHC was shorted 6 minutes, we had to forego the body destroyers and get after it… the PAX moseyed (alright, just short of dead sprint) around to the back of the school (NAFO) and found some picnic tables and benches.  The group performed step ups while 1 PAX ran around the outer sidewalk, serving as the timer.  Upon completion, the next PAX ran while the group did box jumps. Rinse and repeat 2 more times. The PAX then repositioned (again, just short of dead sprint) to the pull-up bars behind the JROTC building. Next up, the group completed 1 pull-up, 2 chin-ups, and 3 merkins, rinsing and repeating, while 1 PAX ran to the stop sign at the top of the hill as a timer. Repeato until the remaining PAX ran. The PAX again repositioned (yeah yeah dead sprint…blah blah) to the hill behind Sugar Creek Elementary School. After hearing some mumblechatter about the stupid things we do, YHC implored the PAX to realize that the “stupid things” we choose to do are preparing us for the “tough stuff” that we have to do at other points in our lives. Next up, Jacobs Ladder (1 big boy sit-up at the bottom, 10 burpees at the top). We made it through 4-5 rounds for each of the PAX before repositioning (“quickly”) 1 last time to the bottom of the hill back to NAFO. Once a 10-count was counted, jail break sprint back to the stop sign at the top of the hill and then back to COT for MARY!
MARY: Flutters and Hammers were on the menu, followed by… wait for it… THE BODY DESTROYER!!
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Read your newsletter!
COT: 🙏🏻s for both spoken and unspoken items on our ♥️s. Thanks for the opportunity to lead gentlemen!!!

Bobby Hurley Hell

We were joined by Deadbolt from the Raleigh area. Got to talk a bit before we started, but gave disclaimer at 0515 and got started.

WARMUP;
Downward dog/honey mooner
SSH (IC – sort of…apparently I had inflection that made Poppins think we were stopping at 10).

THE THANG:
Moseyed over to back of school, balls to wall while each person does 3 burpees
Then did wall squats while PAX ran around the loop (another Poppins shout-out, this HIM is sneaky fast #sprinter)

Next we headed over by the band room area. We got to see the horses and YHC learned that is why it’s called the Ranch (#themoreyouknow)

@bobber asked if we’d get to do Bobby Hurleys like I called at a previous Q…he was excited when he heard what I had next..a Dora with:

100 lunges (single count leg)
200 Carolina dry docks
300 Bobby Hurleys (audibled to 250 when I recalled how awful these were and my form was getting pretty bad)
400 Freddy Mercury
Bonus round of burpees for a few of us as the last group finished.

Headed to the playground for a Pull up/merkins series (5 OYO/6 IC, 4/5, 3//4)

Sasquatch led some mountain climbers at COT while YHC grabbed my phone from the car to do video namorama!

Announcements: read your newsletter
Prayers: lots offered up.

Thanks @poppins for the opportunity to lead

Thanksgiving Convergence 2021

68 PAX in attendance for a pre-thanksgiving beatdown and some fellowship on a brisk morning Thursday 11/25/2021.

With the anticipation of fried turkey, oreos and coffee brought by @Change Order, @Smuggler and @RubySlippers, mumble-chatter abounded,  until @Hardwood took the center and called attention at 0600 hours. Disclaimer was disclaimed and the call for new FNG’s was made, no new FNG’s was the lone blemish on the otherwise fantastic morning in my humble opinion.

Run options led by @Gekko and a Moderate group led by @TripleLindy set off as the rest of the PAX moseyed towards back of Springfield Elementary. First Destination was in parking lot way back by the Middle School.

Circled up and @Hardwood called out the following exercises:

SSH- 40

Windmills

Downward Dogs and Honeymooners

Low & Slow Squats

Cyclops: Stay in Squat Position and complete Moroccan Nightclubs

The Thing

Series of Webs

Starting with Merkins and Overhead Claps

1×4 for 10 rounds of excruciating shoulder pain, mumble-chatter becoming more focused on the task at hand

more SSH 🤮

Next we completed ANOTHER WEB, worse than the last,

Shoulder Taps and Moroccan Nightclubs

1×4 for 10 more rounds that was never ever going to end

Lots of requests for Burpees strangely or anything other then arm workouts!

YHC began the 2nd half of the workout with more SSH

Mosey around to front of Middle School with 3 stops for 5 Burpees OYO, at the request of the PAX

Line up at bottom of small hill in front of school and explain the workout, AMRAP LEG CIRCUIT

Teams of 4 ish men cycle through three exercises at bottom of hill individually:

2 Squats

2 Split Lunges

2 Bomb Jacks

Next Broad Jump up Hill to top and complete the following:

2 V-ups

Bear Crawl to bench

2 Step Ups

Run around and down to bottom of hill stopping at cones for 2 burpees (two stops per lap)

Meet back at bottom of hill and repeat, only this time DOUBLE ALL REPS TO 4X

Goal is to complete 5 rounds or AMRAP, almost completed but just short of time before we had to get back to COT

YHC shared a article on Gratitude, and then @Shady shared the heart of the Fort, the success of @Seamstress initiative with the help of the PAX, @Seamstress shared his excitement and appreciation for the success of the event! Great job by all T-claps!

Finally we had a shovel hand-off YHC taking the Ranch from a long line of great site Q’s which I hope to make proud.

Then we were finally able to enjoy the fried delicacies and coffee! Cheers!

Caveman skills

Five pax at Varsity on Black Friday 2021.
Started with Broga led by Sasquatch, then hand off to YHC for the bootcamp.
Thang #1
Theme was caveman skills, so started with a run (ancient man likely had to run after their prey for a long distance). Then ended up at the pull up bars:
5 pull ups followed by 10 merkins (I/C); repeat. Then a bar hang with knees-to-chest.
Thang #2
A caveman needs to drag his kill back to the family cave. Thus: sled pull from bars to stop sign and back again. Sled has four cinder blocks in it. While the one pax pulls the kill, the other pax toss a 15lb slam ball to each other. Each pax got a chance at the sled pull.
Thang #3
Run as a group down to the elementary school lot.
Spear throw. Homemade ‘spartan’ spear and capybara target. Pax started at about 40 feet from target, and we all missed. Got a little closer, and all missed. Got a little closer and Skate connected for the kill!
Celebrate being able to eat with 10 burpees.

Run up to shovel flag and do 4 mins of Mary.
Fini/COT

Materials/instructions:
Sled: plastic concrete mixing tub (large) from Lowes. A rope is wrapped around the tub’s lip.
Capybara target: foam, cardboard, googlie eye, glue; marthastewart.com for instructions.
Spear: shovel handle, lumber nail/spike, 2-part epoxy. Also marthastewart.com for instructions (jail-house lessons section).
Some workouts are best done when there is no-school…don’t need someone calling the cops on a “…bunch of guys running around with a spear…”

Skate takes the kill!

Ow, my Arms-ory

Welcome to another edition of a #SkateOrDie beatdown.  This one the result of Uhaul (as former site Q of the Armory…when did that happen?) attempted to not be there for my workout.  He was there, so I guess that didn’t  “work out” for him!

The warmup:

Moseyed the bells over to position them for use during the main event.  Continued to mosey around the parking lot, picking up Uhaul and  Shatner along the way.  Some dynamic stretching and SSHs rounded out the pre-work.

On the the main event:

– 5 cones marked the stations for the following exercises:

– 20 KB swings, 20 KB Squat, Curl, and Press, 20 (10 each arm) KB Clean and Press, 20 KB Thrusters w/ O/H Triceps Extension, 10 Man-makers w/ the bell

– Travel between the cones was by way of bear crawls w/ the bell and back to start was by way of lunge walk w/ KB pass-thru.

– Rinse and Repeat 3x.

– Circle up for PAX-led Mary for last 5 minutes.

– Discussed Thankfulness in advance of the upcoming holiday (and no running with the bells).

– Thankful for the opportunity to lead!!!

What Hill?

As always, love having the opportunity to lead.

Today, kettlebells at The Snake Pit…

15 HIM looking to work hard came out for the latest edition of what I would like to characterize as a solid beatdown, most others would call stupidity.

Off we went.  Hold up – I broke the cardinal rule of disclaiming the disclaimer…and what was worse, we had an FNG.  Fear not, we have a astute bunch that quickly pounced on the oversight.  So I disclaimed the disclaimer and we were off – for reals this time.

For those who have not participated in a SoD beatdown, running with the bells in commonplace. We mosey’d to the top of the hill, next to the football stadium, to collect the 6 and begin our warm-ups.

A cocktail of warm-up exercises including SSHs, windmills, imperial walkers, planks, and mountain climbers were served up over several stations as we made our way down the hill to the main event.

At the bottom of the hill, we found ourselves at the base of different hill perfectly suited to run up and down (with the bell).  This was the main event…

Rotating through the exercises, the PAX were instructed to perform and 1 exercise at the bottom of the hill, run to the top, perform a different exercise, run back to the bottom, and then rinse and repeat with the next exercise.

Bottom:

(1)Plank Rows w/ merkin, (2) Curl into O/H Press, (3) O/H Press into Tricep Extension – all with the bell

Top:

(1) Box Jumps, (2) Step Ups, (3) Calf Raises – all with the bell

Once the PAX completed 3 sets 9 times up and down the hill, some additional upper body and leg work was completed (going up and down the hill), followed by a few “jail break” sprints back up the hill.

With several minutes left before COT, the PAX mosey’d their way back up the original hill to the reward of body destroyers until COT.

Count-o-Rama, Name-o-Rama, FNG Name:(Gilligan), Announcements, Prayers/Praises, Closing Prayer

As always, great to lead this group of HIM – everyone challenged themselves and put in some nice work this morning.
