The Sweati 2020

The Sweati 2020-
79 HIM took to The Forts annual summer CSAUP event. It was 78 degrees when 24 Ruckers launched from The Coliseum at 0530. They had their disclaimer and direction to the first of the 3 pain stations. Just After at 0600 54 runners took to the route. They departed and ran about 2.5 miles and got to meet Bones at Golden Corral for the first pain station. He worked them over as they came in for about 10-15 minutes. Once he finished dishing the pain they took off to Pantheon only about 1.5 miles up the Road. Fishsticks was waiting for sprints and pain. He had the PAX attention for another 10-15 minutes. Once they left they brought the route back to YHC. While waiting for the PAX to return and doing burpees I decided that my other two Qs most likely put the PAX through so much I would give them a choice. Either 20 burpees at 5 light poles with bear crawls in-between or they could buyout of it for a $50. going to our brother Cash. Most wanted to take on both challenges. We wore black for Cash and am still amazed at the Photos coming in from across the Country showing support to this HIM. We love you Cash. Here is a link to the pay-pal account if you feel you would like to support.

Kenyan’s request

7 PAX at the JOC. Having not Qed at this AO nor much experience with the PAX that posted here, YHC had a few different ideas to push the PAX present without leaving anyone behind. Thanks to JWOWW for crossing the bridge with me. Here’s what we did:

Short Mosey to the soccer field parking lot

Warm Up
Windmill
1 burpee
SSH
2 burpees
Some Yoga
3 burpees
Mountain Climber
4 burpees
Moroccan Night Club
5 burpees

Mosey towards the BMX track

PAX hold plank while each individual takes a turn running up the stairs and back down

Mosey towards the RV parking lot at the far edge there are 8 lights
Lunge walk to the end adding 1 merkin at each light (36 total merkins)
Bear crawl back adding 1 CDD at each light (36 total CDD)
Did some arm circles to loosen back up
(side note: this would be Shady-level “fun” one row in….where there are significantly more lights)

Mosey back towards the BMX track and found some wall

Peoples Chair while PAX went down the line with 5 burpees each
– Kenyan said “finally some leg work”
Balls to the wall
– 5 merkins in cadence
– 5 shoulder taps in cadence

To honor Kenyan’s request for leg work we moseyed to the parking lot entrance and did a set of 11s
1 lunge (each leg) at the bottom
run to the top
10 jump squats
continued until
10 lunges at the bottom
1 jump squat at the top

Got to COT with a min remaining. Because F3 is a group of leaders not a group with a leader, YHC nominated Cliffhanger to call an exercise. He called big boy situps till 0600

An honor to lead.

Preparedness- Are You Prepared?

Attn #HIM of the The Fort and Lake Wylie,

Preparedness is discussed in Foundation Point F5 of the the Q- Source.  As Defined Preparedness is: Getting Ready for the Expected While being Ready for The Unexpected. This is an all encompassing need to us as men.  It is valid in all parts out our lives;  Father, husband, boss, team member, Site-Q, WO Q ect.

The purpose for this pre-blast is in regards to life saving measures that Pax can take in the event of an unexpected medical emergency at home, work, or at an AO.  We have talked about it in Site-Q Meetings and at the last Invergence.

Last week HomeBrew ,a Pax from Lake Wylie, who is near and dear to our hearts, had just this type of medical emergency come crashing down on him after his 2.0 suffered a Febrile Seizure and stopped breathing.  He had no training but HAD to ACT. So he mimicked what he had seen on TV and was able to revive her before EMS was able to arrive.  Good On Ya for maintaining a cool head and doing what needed to be done.  CPR and Faith in the Sky Q is what saved her life.  I have maintained CPR/AED/First Aid certification for 6-8 years now for work.  I feel better knowing that if I am put in that sort of situation I have at minimum the base knowledge to try and keep someone alive till EMS-Fire arrive on site to take over.

Here is what HomeBrew and I are proposing.  This will be a friendly competition between The Fort and Lake Wylie regions.  From 4-1 to 4-15 every PAX from either region that completes certification or re-certifies in CPR/ AED/First Aid he and I + the Nan’tan and 1st F Q will complete 5 burpees.   The region that draws the most new or recerts will pass that number on to the “Loser”, but honestly- Who really loses in this situation? IE The Fort get 30 pax LKW gets 20 pax = LKW will do 150 burpees. The Fort will do 100. As you all know, I HATE BURPEES, but have committed to drive action across the regions.

The Certification I have been using comes from NationalCPRFoundation.com.  It is Red Cross compliant and should take between 30 mins to 1 hour to complete.  It is free unless you decide to purchases the hard copy certificates.  We will require a screen shot/ picture Tweeted or slacked to both HomeBrew and myself of the completed training for a CPR/AED/First aid at the end.  It will be added to the spreadsheet we will use to document Pax completion. The certification is good for 2 years.

It is highly recommended that All Site Qs get on board with this effort, but all PAX can benefit from this training. What better way to show leadership than making sure the Pax that Post to your AO know you have that training and are ready to act in the even that someone goes down.

Please join us in this and lets Ensure we are Prepared for the unexpected. Stay tuned to TwEETAR for a message from Homebrew.

Thanks

Thrillmania – Uno Style At JOC

So our fearless Site Q apparently wasn’t feeling well, so he left Kenyan and I to lead the way at JOC and this is the nonsense I came up with.

Take one deck of Uno cards and use your numbers 0-9 as follows.  1-9 equals your rep and 0 = 10 reps.  Strange how we never found a 0 today.

Color determines exercise:

Blue – Merkins
Green – LBC
Yellow – Squats
Red – Lunges
Skip – Run a lap
+2 – Pick 2 exercises, 2 reps of each
+4 – All 4 exercises, 4 reps of each
Reverse – Repeat last rep, but keep going around the circle (rule change from real Uno)
Wild – Change color/exercise

It was a fun morning, got a little warm out there in the fog.  Speaking of the fog, I wonder if some Pax got lost in the fog.  Anyway, thanks Big Papi for inviting me to Q.

I’m Site Q now for The Fort’s 0630 IR Friendly/Low Intensity workout at WEP in Fort Mill Saturday’s .  Would love to have any of you Q or join us.  0630 each Saturday.

The Thrill is gone!

Cards at the JOC

Today at the Joint Operations Command AO, we had 7 join me for a total of 8, to take on the deck of cards. It’s not the most creative workout you’ll ever do but I can promise you, you’ll get your money’s worth. If you think, “man, I’m tired of doing that deck…big deal”, then try to up your tempo then let’s talk. I announced via our Socials that we’d be doing this and it became clear, not many were interested in this kind of a challenge on Hump Day. So I was expecting it to be a typical challenge until I encountered an interview yesterday. I was struck when listening to the recent Roundtable Podcast when CSPAN interviewed Billy Bob. So, if you haven’t listened yet, go give it a listen…you’re welcome.

So, after the disclaimer, we moseyed a bit and attempted to “warm up” by doing typical warm up stuff: SSH, Squats, Arm Circles, Merkins. Frankly, when it’s 26 degrees here in the Palmetto state, it takes a fireplace to warm up (soft). A few exercises performed under 4 layers of clothing ain’t gonna cut it.

That said, I grabbed the cards and instructions and we moseyed to our spot at the “highest point in Rock Hill.” This nomad didn’t know such a place existed. #topographylesson

Back to the Podcast, Billy Bob mentioned a something he says at the end of his disclaimer when he Q’s and the point is this, you can modify if necessary BUT don’t use that desire to modify as an excuse to not push yourself. THAT’S IT, I thought. That’s the type of statement we need to prescribe to. At a workout, trying to complete something, accomplishing goals, shoot…in life. If something enters your field of fire, modify if you need to BUT do not use that as an excuse for taking the easy route.

I mentioned this to the PAX this morning then walked through our plan for the next 40mins. 2-10 were that number of reps, Jacks=11, Queens=12, Kings=13, Aces= 14. Jokers would be 25 (4ct) American Hammers followed by a 100yd run.

While we didn’t make it through the entire deck, we did complete 46 cards, accounting for:

3: Jokers (300yds + 75 American Hammers

85: Diamond Merkins

81: Mountain Climbers (4ct)

102: 8ct Burpee

73: Jump Squats

Remember, modify as needed BUT do not use that as an opportunity to not push yourself.

Stay tuned for the next opportunity to complete the entire deck. Until next time…

PRE-BLAST: The Brotherhood of the Traveling Pants (AKA: #BTP)

Willpower is only the trigger to get a person started on a positive habit (#Brick). In order to maintain and continue #Bricklaying, a person needs to change the mental and physical environment in which they live, so that the habit can develop the “muscle memory” needed to go the distance. My #DRP list is lengthening, as is my ability to have #IMPACT in the men around me, and the following is intended to continue to put me on the right trajectory.

For the year of 2020, my word is “GO”.  In an effort to continue to #Accelerate my 1stF, and beginning on 1/6/20, I am instituting (for myself and anyone who wants to join me) an EC (Extra Credit) 15 minutes (of Boot Camp or running, or maybe even Broga) prior to every 45 minute workout. I will tweet and Slack the location with the hashtag #BTP the day before for those who wish to join me. (It’s a way to “trap” myself into an accelerating habit…)

For example, Monday I usually hit Honey Badger which is an hour workout. There would not necessarily be an EC prior to this (though there could be). Tuesday, I will be at Golden Corral. At 0500, I will begin an EC portion of the workout for those that want to join. It will launch from the same AO, and will be back at the AO in time for the 0515 normal start of the Post.

Clear as mud? Good. Ask me your questions. Otherwise, check your Twitter/Slack and #Accelerate with me.

Helmet, out.

Mountain trip to Dupont State Forest on August 3rd with Trail Running, Rucking and Biking options – there will be a 2nd F afterwords

3rd F

Alright we are 2 years ago we did a mountain trip to Roan Mtn. it was one of the best trips I have made with my fellow F3 brothers. After 10-16 miles we went to Daniel Boone Inn to refuel.

With this in mind I wanted to continue to do this hopefully every year. So on August 3rd we are going to do another mountain trip. This time it will be Trail Running, Biking and Rucking options.

Our destination will be DuPont State Forest. We will leave from the Newport Walmart at 6 am it is a 2 1/2 hr trip. we will either go to the Hooker Falls Access or the Lake Imaging Access. For runners we will try and get 12-18 miles in for Mountain bikers Vuvuzela has about 20-30 mile rout lined up.

2nd F

Afterwords will will go to Daddy D’s and refuel.

Make sure you bring water and something for energy do not come unprepared you will regret it. I did exactly that last time. This will be an unforgettable trip that we will try and do every year. we need to clown car to get there since there are no rental vans available.

Reach out to me if you have any questions.  I have attached links below.
