Shakin it up at Footloose

I had to follow Rebel’s lead from Block Party this week to keep it interesting.  The 11 PAX definitely accelerated today.  A quick disclaimer and a little mosey down to the COG lot.  There was lots of mumble chatter during the warm-up by Twister & Destiny.  I guess they had a lot to catch up on.

We did some stretching to kick things off.  Then a few exercises to get the blood flowing: SSH, imperial walkers, windmills, Mtn. Climbers and a few burpees to try to quiet things down.  That didn’t work.

The bulk of the workout entailed 3 minute intervals with 4 exercises and a run up the stairs in between intervals.  First interval was merkins-10, mtn. climbers – 16, shoulder taps -20.  Then finish with a burpee stack (ask Rebel).  Continue round for 3 min.  Second round was abs: big boy situps – 10, american hammers – 16, flutters – 20. Third round was legs: squats – 10, monkey humpers – 15, and calve raises – 20.  We were able to get 6 rounds in total.  Nice work by all pushing forward.

Football not Footloose

Its September!! Are you ready for some football? Well, Boss Hog apparently isn’t since he tweeted out YHC was bringing a truck load of pain via from some crappy college program, that team from the south (fans of that team from up north will get that joke). Of course Boss Hog was just trying to poke the bear. Of course it worked seeing that I am not a fan of either of those programs (WE ARE PENN STATE), the weinke was developed to be not-a-moderate and emulate a typical football conditioning workout – kuddos go to watching my son and the PKMS football team practice this week.

The tweet definitely brought out some #HIM and a PAX posting for his second time (Ranger)!

Mossy to church parking lot for COP: windmills, low slow squat, Moroccan nightclubs, IW…while we were in COP we noticed the Minnow Pond PAX heading down the hill so we decided to give them a warm welcome by lining up and performing Monkey Humpers as they passed by.

Mossy to other church parking lot for and individual OYO pain station:

100 Merkins

50 Squats

100 LBCs

50 Side Lunges

100 CDD

50 Big Boys

100 American Hammers

50 Mountain Climbers

As PAX were completing this, they took a lap around the church.

Once done, mossy back to other church parking lot for 2 rounds of:

Suicides (whats a football conditioning workout W/O them) – those who had injuries planked as PAX did suicides. Up/Downs – running in place then doing burpees as called out.

Toy soldiers to Withers Street.

3 rounds of:

Run to top of hill, 10 merkins, run back, 10 LBCs. Those with injuries did 10 burpees, 15 merkins, 20 LBCs.

Mossy back to COT

Footloose 8/20/20

When BossHogg calls your number you either show or he sends the law after ya. With drivebys by 3 of Fort MIlls Finest i do believe he put them on notice to take YHC away if i didnt bring the pain to this fine PAX. Well we got started right at 0515 with a quick disclaimer that was to Drop Thrills satisfaction. We took off for a quick warmup that consisted of the good ole regulars. After warmup we moseyed to the four way intersection. we were going to be moving from this point to three differant directions when you get back to the intersection you do the exercises. Do first set of 100 combined reps merkins/ squats.run. second 100 combined shoulder taps/ american hammers. run. 100 reps third set CDDs/ lunges. run. Try and get in three sets of each. Move. We got 2 full sets and 1 set of 50 combined of the exercises. The PAX worked and agreed we work hard if we getting up at 0430. Thanks BossHogg for the call out. Backdraft out.

The Sweati 2020

79 HIM took to The Forts annual summer CSAUP event. It was 78 degrees when 24 Ruckers launched from The Coliseum at 0530. They had their disclaimer and direction to the first of the 3 pain stations. Just After at 0600 54 runners took to the route. They departed and ran about 2.5 miles and got to meet Bones at Golden Corral for the first pain station. He worked them over as they came in for about 10-15 minutes. Once he finished dishing the pain they took off to Pantheon only about 1.5 miles up the Road. Fishsticks was waiting for sprints and pain. He had the PAX attention for another 10-15 minutes. Once they left they brought the route back to YHC. While waiting for the PAX to return and doing burpees I decided that my other two Qs most likely put the PAX through so much I would give them a choice. Either 20 burpees at 5 light poles with bear crawls in-between or they could buyout of it for a $50. going to our brother Cash. Most wanted to take on both challenges. We wore black for Cash and am still amazed at the Photos coming in from across the Country showing support to this HIM. We love you Cash. Noderate at Footloose

I pulled into the lot with a deck of cards and 4 different versions of the Deck of Pain planned. The pax in attendance all looked like runners so I changed the plan and we all ran to check out the Minnow Pond AO. We couldn’t find anybody but Hallelujah! we found a porta-potty for Training Wheels. The rest of planked it up and did some merkins while we patiently waited. Next we ran back to Footloose (1 mile!) and started on the original plan of the Deck of Pain.
Clubs: Squats
Spades: Merkins
Hearts: Flutters
Diamonds: Big Boys
Joker: Burpees
We played this game through most of the deck but I called an audible for the last 11 minutes and we all ran another mile.

Footloose is a moderate boot camp but when the Q knows the dudes in attendance can push a little harder than moderate, please push.

Launch from Coliseum (1025 Dave Gibson Blvd) you will be told where to go next.

Water will be available at pain stations. Bring your own if you are against trash.

Coffee will be provided by The Fort. Donations to the fund are accepted.

Thrill… Running!?

So Boss Hogg the fastest man in Fort Mill invited me to Q Footloose.  I hate running, but i’m slowly getting to not hate it so much now that my back is much better.

For those that don’t know, in 2015 I fell doing a mud run and royally screwed up my back.  It took years to get where I could even walk without pain, much less run.

So today I pulled a very old Q out of the bag and modified it up a bit.

We started at the beginning, a very good place to start.

Warmed up at First Baptist, and launched into Round 1

Each round includes the same exercises, but we perform them in a ladder style going up and down the rep counts.  The exercises were:

Squats
Lunges
Calf raises
Moroccan Nightclubs
LBC
Reverse crunch
Hello Dolly
Superman
Flutters

Round 1 – 5 reach
Round 2 – 10 each
Round 3 – 15 each
Round 4 – 10 each
Round 5 – 5 each

After each round we ran, yes ran to the next stop.  We stopped at the corner across from Hardee’s, then the Methodist Church, then reversed back to the corner, then back to the start.

We finished off with a round of Mary and called it a day.

6 endured Broga and Bunzercise

Most of us dont stretch enough, especially those of us who do a lot of KB workouts.  That’s me.  I’m usually KB MWF.  Since I was asked to Q Footloose, I thought it was a good opportunity to get myself some stretching.

After waiting for Uhaul to not show, we ran down to Church of God for a warmup and more comfortable surface. Let the PAX in a variety of the usual warmup exercises (SSH, cherry pickers) then started into Broga and stretching for about 25 minutes.  I could sense the PAX were restless so threw in some Burpees after a smart alec remark from Polaroid.  Then we ran the COG zigzag stairs and back to the lot for a variety of ab work.  Followed with another stair run and then Airborne’s Hip Flexor torture.  Ran back to COT.

Preparedness- Are You Prepared?

Attn #HIM of the The Fort and Lake Wylie,

Preparedness is discussed in Foundation Point F5 of the the Q- Source.  As Defined Preparedness is: Getting Ready for the Expected While being Ready for The Unexpected. This is an all encompassing need to us as men.  It is valid in all parts out our lives;  Father, husband, boss, team member, Site-Q, WO Q ect.

The purpose for this pre-blast is in regards to life saving measures that Pax can take in the event of an unexpected medical emergency at home, work, or at an AO.  We have talked about it in Site-Q Meetings and at the last Invergence.

Last week HomeBrew ,a Pax from Lake Wylie, who is near and dear to our hearts, had just this type of medical emergency come crashing down on him after his 2.0 suffered a Febrile Seizure and stopped breathing.  He had no training but HAD to ACT. So he mimicked what he had seen on TV and was able to revive her before EMS was able to arrive.  Good On Ya for maintaining a cool head and doing what needed to be done.  CPR and Faith in the Sky Q is what saved her life.  I have maintained CPR/AED/First Aid certification for 6-8 years now for work.  I feel better knowing that if I am put in that sort of situation I have at minimum the base knowledge to try and keep someone alive till EMS-Fire arrive on site to take over.

Here is what HomeBrew and I are proposing.  This will be a friendly competition between The Fort and Lake Wylie regions.  From 4-1 to 4-15 every PAX from either region that completes certification or re-certifies in CPR/ AED/First Aid he and I + the Nan’tan and 1st F Q will complete 5 burpees.   The region that draws the most new or recerts will pass that number on to the “Loser”, but honestly- Who really loses in this situation? IE The Fort get 30 pax LKW gets 20 pax = LKW will do 150 burpees. The Fort will do 100. As you all know, I HATE BURPEES, but have committed to drive action across the regions.

The Certification I have been using comes from NationalCPRFoundation.com.  It is Red Cross compliant and should take between 30 mins to 1 hour to complete.  It is free unless you decide to purchases the hard copy certificates.  We will require a screen shot/ picture Tweeted or slacked to both HomeBrew and myself of the completed training for a CPR/AED/First aid at the end.  It will be added to the spreadsheet we will use to document Pax completion. The certification is good for 2 years.

It is highly recommended that All Site Qs get on board with this effort, but all PAX can benefit from this training. What better way to show leadership than making sure the Pax that Post to your AO know you have that training and are ready to act in the even that someone goes down.
