13 pillars & 4 levels

WARMUP: yea, we did that. seriously, it’s important.

THE THANG: ran towards the levels, but found some pillars. Stopped for 1 burpee at the first pillar, then 2, then 3, etc. There were 13. That’s 91 burpees (if I’d done the math in my head, I would have called 9 more in cadence. Guess the PAX are glad, I didn’t….)

At the levels near the tennis courts

Bottom level – 10 squats
2nd level – 10 jump squats
3rd level – 10 lunges
3.5 level – turn around 10 bulgarian split squats
4 level – head back to the bottom level

We did 4 rounds

On the way back, we stopped for Bomb Jacks at light poles in an additive fashion as well.

Officer Aaron Smith Memorial WOD 2024

As promised we honored a fallen hero at the Honey Badger who was a friend of my brother in law.

Officer Aaron Smith’s life of public service began at the age of 16, when he joined the Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department (MWVFD) as a junior firefighter. He began serving the MWVFD “in full capacity” at the age of 18, and also went on to work as an emergency medical technician (EMT) for Roane County Emergency Medical Services, the St. Joseph Ambulance Service, Jackson County Emergency Medical Services, Camden Clark Memorial Hospital, and Med Trust of Myrtle Beach.
Officer Smith later became a South Carolina State trooper before joining the Horry County Police Department as a police officer.
His cousin Caroline Arthur wrote “Anyone who knew Aaron knew his passion for front line service. His many hours of service, lives touched, and lives saved will not go unnoticed.”
Officer Smith died on September 5, 2021 and was laid to rest September 12, 2021.

School’s Out: Dawn Patrol Edition

Nice showing at DP. A couple double downs, a couple big brains (SLT) and a couple late risers … all perfectly acceptable.

With that said, “I have to get the kids to school” is not valid for June and July, so get out and double down.

6 rucked, 3 ran. We had a 2.5 mile loop.

Down that way, right at the pharmacy, around to Hardees, take a left, all the way to the T, right, right at the next T, come up behind the post office, Forest, Academy and back.

If I lost you, Bandcamp can translate.

Looks like we made it,

Barry Manilow

Let’s try this again… slack doesn’t like my backblasts and the first one I wrote for this was may more epic-er
WARMUP: lap around CoT parking lot and circle up for stuff including SSH until first PAX quit – 51 to be exact

THE THANG:

Split into 2 teams to compete against each other in relay race where each team member took a turn to complete about a 30 yard out and back with a 45lb plate. First race – mode of transportation was overhead rifle carry

Second race – mode of transportation was right handed suitcase carry

Third race – mode of transportation was left handed suitcase carry

Fourth race – mode of transportation was overhead rifle carry

After each race PAX took a break from racing with 5 burpees OYO

Tie goes to the Q and thus my team was crowned the inaugural Ranch Relay champions

After relays, we moseyed to the car line loop near the entrance to the other school.

We did an accumulating ladder with laps around the pickup line loop except we scaled the retaining wall on each lap.

Jason Richards “Falcon”

13 PAX + Falcon = 14. The same number of PAX that showed up in the gloom on 4/29/2024 when Falcon collapsed after his first workout. We are here to honor this man

WARMUP:
9 motivators – a crowd favorite
Low slow squats with coupon
Low slow merkins

THE THANG:
“Falcon Heavy”
14 SSH in cadence buy-in
———————————-
4 rounds of 26 each with coupons. Only progress to the next movement once everyone except Cohiba is done
Flutters with press (the hard way)
American Hammers (the hard way)
Lunges (the easy way)
Curls
Overhead press
No rest Thrusters – if the coupon drops below your chest, 5 manmaker penalty for everyone. This was abused
Shuffle a lap with the coupon
———————————-
14 SSH in cadence (called correctly)

We made 3 full rounds. Some would say we could have finished if we didn’t mess around with motivators during warmup. Scientists are now referring to these claims as “wrong”.
