Breaking the Tie

YHC was invited by the Site Q, Sugar Daddy, to Q the Bubble today and was honored for the opportunity. For those who don’t know or have forgotten, the Bubble is a result of the COVID lockdown coupled with the need for acceleration and fellowship. Started in April 2020, the Bubble sought to fill a gap caused by the lockdown and was one of the many blessings from the Fort during a tumultuous time in our world. It starts at 6 AM so you get the extra sleep time and Baxter offers lots of options for pain.  YHC was excited to Q for both of those reasons!

Weather – 43 and dare I say warmer than the last few weeks. No rain. Perfect F3 climate!

YHC shared a concept on my heart which is “Breaking Ties” in your life. Whether its your spouse, significant others, co-workers, etc. there will be times where you don’t agree with someone. While I don’t have the answers, I do know a few things about failure in these circumstances. I have learned the following:

  • Know who you are and who you arent
  • Dont assume you are right…what if you are wrong?
  • Listen and learn about the other person
  • Pray about it
  • Show love to them

Moleskin

  • Prayers for Twisters daughter
  • Prayers for the Kerns
  • 3/6 is the Yeti…you should sign up
  • 3/13 is the beginning of Acceleration, a leadership journey.

The Bubble’

We ran around and did some bodyweight exercises.

May have stopped at every American Flag for a burpee at one point. Also Bear Crawled a long way across limited greenspace. Made it to the urgent care and back.

There may have been a set of 7s with burpees and bomb jacks. Also a possible pistol squat somewhere in there.

NMM:

Beowulf is still awesome. Grendel’s mom is the issue. Grendel is the symptom. Solve what gave birth to the symptoms in your life.

The Bubble Meets Cindy

Today, after the pre-ruck, 11 Pax, five of whom did the “double,”  Met Cindy for a bit of a beat down.  Congrats to those that doubled down!!

The thang:

Pretty simple, the Pax meandered around Baxter Village un and down stairs stopping here and there for 1) 20 or 10 curls, 2) 20 or 10 prone presses, 3) 20 or 10 squats and 4) 20 or 10 rows, each arm.  The Pax completed four rounds with a lot of walking with their Cindy or ruck.

Moleskin – we all have burdens, but with the help of others and faith in the Sky Q our burdens will be lessened.

pre_blast_METTLE FORGER_new_gear_AO

Friends:

I’d like to make available the training gear I’ve accumulated as part of my personal training venture to the Pax of The Fort and start a new Gear AO!

What:  Dealers ( Q ) choice gear AO.

Where: 12:15 pm on Fridays at Turner Field parking lot in Tega Cay.  45 minutes in length.  Inaugural workout on Friday, 10/23.

Why:  To serve the Pax who have flexibility to work from home or may not be early risers.  To reinvigorate Kotters or recruit new FNG’s who need a shieldlock.

How:  the Weinke could include the gear in my trailer or based on the Q’s of the day preference like kettlebell, ruck, or a combination of all.  I will assist the Q’s in setup.

Special Bonus:  a commemorative patch will be awarded to the first 10 Pax who post!

FAQ:

What gear will Bear Grylls make available to the Q’s?

    • The contents of my trailer include sandbags, kettlebells, dumbells, barbells, slam balls, TRX, battle ropes, jump boxes, bench, water jugs, squat rack, strength sled, speed and agility equipment and resistance bands.  A full gear list will be provided to Q’s so they can build their Weinke.

What if the weather turns bad, will the equipment be ruined?

    • Most of the equipment is rubber-coated, however, we won’t use any bare metal items if there is precipitation.  The Q of the day can always revert to a run or boot-camp model.  There is a soccer and baseball field at Turner which provides many pain-station options.

Other questions and concerns can be sent to Twitter at F3_BearGrylls or on Slack.

The Sweati 2020

The Sweati 2020-
79 HIM took to The Forts annual summer CSAUP event. It was 78 degrees when 24 Ruckers launched from The Coliseum at 0530. They had their disclaimer and direction to the first of the 3 pain stations. Just After at 0600 54 runners took to the route. They departed and ran about 2.5 miles and got to meet Bones at Golden Corral for the first pain station. He worked them over as they came in for about 10-15 minutes. Once he finished dishing the pain they took off to Pantheon only about 1.5 miles up the Road. Fishsticks was waiting for sprints and pain. He had the PAX attention for another 10-15 minutes. Once they left they brought the route back to YHC. While waiting for the PAX to return and doing burpees I decided that my other two Qs most likely put the PAX through so much I would give them a choice. Either 20 burpees at 5 light poles with bear crawls in-between or they could buyout of it for a $50. going to our brother Cash. Most wanted to take on both challenges. We wore black for Cash and am still amazed at the Photos coming in from across the Country showing support to this HIM. We love you Cash. Here is a link to the pay-pal account if you feel you would like to support.

The Buble’

The temps were steamy. The Bubble was bubbling. The disclaimer was disclaimed. Eighteen HIM decided to get better.

Warm Up

  • 15 Side Straddle Hops
  • 10 Windmills
  • 10 Low Slow Squats
  • 10 Flutters
  • 10 Dying Cockroaches
  • 10 Big Boy Sit ups
  • 10 Mountain Climbers
  • Down/Up Dog
  • Static Stretch

Round 1

Indian Run around the block as the caboose did 2 burpess and sprinted to the front.

As the PAX gathered after the run I spoke on the importance of serving. The Bible tells us so.

Luke 22: 27 – 28

Jesus “For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But I am among you the one who serves.”

There is so much opportunity to serve the community. If the Son of God can serve us, we can certainly find ways to serve each other. Don’t be the guy that reclines at the table. Be the guys that serves.

Round 2

Indian Plank while the PAX in the back bear crawls to the front. We continued out of the parking lot down the alley and back. This was a crowd pleaser.

Round 3

Indian Peoples Chair while the PAX in the back lunge walked to the front. We continued out of the parking lot down the alley and back.

Time flies when you are in pain (or something like that). We circled up for COT.

18 PAX gathered in for The Bubble amidst humid conditions outside a mushroom pool.

Rinse and repeat total of 144 (a gross) of reps

Stopping for some monkey humpers along the way to keep the group together-ish.

NMM:

There’s a lot of turmoil going on in the world. Americans (in general) have largely been spared inconveniences since WWII (maybe gas shortages in the 1970s?). In many cities, we’re being asked or required to wear masks to quell the rampant spread of COVID-19. For almost all of us, this is an inconvenience. But luckily it is only an inconvenience.

Today’s workout was certainly not convenient, with the exception of the location for some PAX. We recognize how simple workouts in the humidity makes us better. YHC is officially exhorting us to be leaders and do the inconvenient things like wearing a mask for our community’s health.

Side note:

As an FM local, I remember when Baxter was a cow pasture. Traffic is worse in town, but so much about Fort Mill is better because of the folks who moved here. I appreciate what y’all bring to our town. It is great to post with PAX from all over who are working to make themselves and our shared community better. T-Claps to y’all.

What I learned:

At The Bubble, 10 PAX doubled down posting twice today. YHC tried to keep the warm-up close for those PAX arriving late. My advice to future Qs is: DO NOT plank up in the parking lot until 6:20 or so. Unless you want to raise your heart rate from fear rather than mountain climbers as a vehicle whips into the parking lot you’re lying down in…. My mistake. Won’t happen again.

The Bubble Preblast

  • QIC: Pusher
  • When: 06/23/2020
  • Posted In: The Bubble

YHC has the Q for 6/23/20 at the Bubble so it felt like a good time to share some perspective on one of the newest AOs in the Fort and provide a disclaimer for this #disruption to those who are interested in posting at this site.

History

First, all credit goes to Twister for both the idea and the execution. As we entered #quarantinelife back in March, Twister saw both an opportunity to engage FNGs and a gap to be filled with the closure of existing AOs across our region. To overcome one of the most heard objections to F3….”its too early for me”, we decided to make it 6 AM as a way to entice FNGs (more on this later from YHC). Twister set out a workout schedule for Monday-Friday including running, boot camps and rucking meant to #SIPO compliant and properly #sociallydistanced. Workouts launched from Twister’s home in Baxter on Daphne Circle.

As you are aware, pop up AOs took shape quickly across the region and the nation. Consistent with the Mission and 5 Core Principles of F3, workouts from Daphne Circle had the same feel, same pain and same brotherhood. Even more so, the anxiety and concern from Covid-19 spilled over into this AO more than others. Lack of fellowship due to closure across the region made this even more palpable, more important and a blessing for all who posted.  Over the course of the last 3 months, there have been FNGs, a VQ, an appearance by #Cindy, a #fartsack by YHC and now we even have a t-shirt available via Mudgear  Bubble Shirt Order

Thoughts from YHC

Clearly, we have a #Disruption with the 6 AM start across the Fort with the introduction of this new AO. As one of the Pax who have been around the region for quite some time (#old), the 5:15 start was a result of traffic concerns for a few Pax back in the beginning. Our current situation dictates most work from home. If I am being honest, the extra 45 minutes of sleep once a week has increased my # of posts and has contributed to #acceleration with my #King during quarantine.

Open to all men…consistent with the 5 Core principles. Only additional disclaimer is that we keep the noise level down due to residential implications. No one wants the HOA to come after us!

“The Bubble” name comes from a long time joke from those inside and outside of Baxter Village. As a 13 year resident, it sometimes feels like I live in a bubble wrapped both in my neighborhood and in my community. I am sure that others feel the same. It certainly doesn’t feel like the childhood I had as a kid. Despite that feel, there is opportunity to #Influence those closest to us whether its this bubble or yours.

As YHC reflects on the last 3 months, the Bubble stands out as one of the silver linings from the chaos of the world. I certainly can’t speculate on the future of this AO, the start time, return to work/school scenarios, etc. but until then YHC plans to be present and make a #downpainment at the Bubble a regular occurrence. All 3 Fs are guaranteed!

BLIMPS at The Bubble

This was the first workout at the new location of The Bubble.  Moved by somewhat popular demand from the home of the temporary JWOW outdoor exercise pavilion (conveniently located on Daphne Circle) to the Baxter Mushroom pool, seven (7) PAX undertook a 6:00 AM work out effort.

Missing were the PAX that complained (sic) about the location of the JWOW Pavilion – Flat Tire, 98 Degrees, Assassin and Pusher.  Odd as the mushroom pool is about a :03 minute walk.   However, in all fairness, Pusher was DR and Assassin had a work call at 6:30.

After a bit of  a moderate warm up, four rounds of Blimps followed by a 1/3 mile run commenced.

Round One – 5, 10, 15, 10, 10 and 10

Round Two – 5, 20, 20, 15, 15 and 15

Round Three – 5, 30, 30, 30, 30 and 30 (oops Q didn’t follow the Wienke)

Round Four – 5, 20, 20, 15, 15 and 15

Round Five – 5, 20

This completed the inaugural Bubble workout at its new home.
