Pantheon – the Gam Guillotine Part 3

Another last minute Q request, this time from 38 Special and Gears. I jumped on this opportunity. Pantheon was were it all started for me on 6/26/16. F3 workout #1 was right here at Pantheon, back when it had a much stronger following because there were fewer Wednesday options. The workout I led today was the same workout presented that day, led by Jekyll. It was just as ugly today as it was back then.

Only 3 of us on this chilly morning, almost 30 degrees out. No FNGs, just beasts ready to hit it. Disclaimer was disclaimed, and off we went.

Nice run to Memorial Gardens and Veterans Park. Triangle up around the flag.

COP:
15-20 of the following
SSH, WM, IW, MNC, and STRAWBERRY pickers (cherries are on trees fellas)

The Thang:

Mosey to the grass field park near Trailhead park, to the trail that leads up to the dreaded power lines and Heart Attack Hill. At the end of the field is a nice little trail hill that leads up to Cascading Pines Dr. At the base of that hill is the north end turnaround. Then we ran up the hill, crossed the road, and continued up to the top of the hill next to a power line. That is the south end starting point. Between the two is what’s known as the camelback. The hills are short, maybe 100-120yds total, but quite steep. There is a little flat area when they cross over the road, but otherwise they’re nonstop.

Run the Camelback.  5 squat on southend, run downhill, 5 jump squat on Northend, run uphill back to start.  1 round is down and back up. 5 rounds total.

Afterwards we did some body destroyers while discussing what we are thankful for and why.

Run Camelback: 5 side squat (2-ct), run downhill, 5 Mary Catherines – essentially a jump lunge w arms overhead (2-ct), run uphill back to start, 5 rounds total.

Altogether that was 10 rounds of that hill, about 1.5 miles. Ugly.

Back to the Memorial Gardens. More exercises and ab lab.

F3TheFort Holiday Drop-In

The Forts annual holiday party will have a different feel this year.
With COVID still lingering we have decided to have a gathering but it will be a bit different.

We are encouraging The PAX to go to dinner with your M and either your Shieldlock, Whetstone, or small group of fellow PAX and their Ms. After dinner we will all gather for an hour or so of a social hour(s).
This will give our Ms the opportunity to meet the crazy fellas we spend the early mornings with but more importantly their M.

We are all fortunate to have this crazy group it is also just as important to try and let our Ms meet some other ladies in the community and possibly let them start great friendships as well.

Make it a day of F3. Start with the golf outing, go to dinner and then grab a couple beers, a bottle of J Lohr wine, a cocktail and let’s kick off the holiday season.

If COVID worries you or your M we will have an outdoor area to hang out at as well as indoor areas.

420 Horton Grove, Fort Mill, SC 29715

Time- 7pm-9pmish

Astronomy and Edge Computing

  • QIC: Fishsticks
  • When: 06/30/2021
  • Posted In: Pantheon

Four men showed up to Pantheon for an educational workout this morning.

We began with a short lap around the front of the school and circled up for the typical warm up exercises (SSHs, Imperial Walkers, Windmills, Moroccan Night Clubs, and Plank Stretches).  Flounder was full of energy and a count ahead, but did provide a great overview of the stars and the planets in the sky.

Next, we ran over to the school rock.  We each told turns pushing against the rock for 20 seconds while the other Pax planked.  Unfortunately, no one was strong enough to push over the rock.  We moseyed to the school sign and stopped for three count merkin ascending.  We repeated the process of an exercise, then short mosey.  The exercises were the following:

  • Three count merkin decending
  • Low slow  squat
  • Calf Raises
  • Flutter with Moroccan night clubs
  • LBCs

Eight count burpee (Flounder’s special request)

I found out this morning that I need to brush up on the Exicon.  Gears was there to assist me with the exercise names.  He also provided us with a simple explanation of Edge Computing.  Flounder had a better explanation of pushing all the papers to the edge of the desk when he is working on his Tandy 1000.

Back of COT for announcements and prayers/praises.

Great job Everyone!

FieldDay at Paintheon

My shorty was really excited about having a field day at school so I thought I would bring back some elementary school memories and lead the PAX in some old school field day activities.
I don’t usually put this much effort into a Q because there is a lot of stuff to figure out and prep beforehand. Luckily I have been riding the good vibes of June FNG Jamboree so I was willing to put in the extra effort in hopes the PAX have fun while still getting a workout in.

Started the PAX off with some standard exercises then moved right into the games.

The following games were played. If you want to know more then you need to show up next time. Thank you to Lutefisk for joining us while on IR and for capturing some incredible footage of the games.

Sharks and minnows and bears. The bear crawl is the only mode of transportation. then around with only being able to NUR which turned out to be way more dangerous than expected.

The next field day game was the egg toss.
Wanting to continue to have access to the facilities of the elementary school the eggs were swapped out for golfballs. Eggs smashed baking in the sun while the kids stand in the car rider pickup line would not be great for fulfilling the mission of F3.
Golf ball egg toss rules. If you drop the golf ball you and your partner must perform 3 burpees before moving back to the next cone. Note that golf balls were also dangerous. Especially with the limited photons present in the gloom.

On to the second to final field day game. The famous water relay. Everyone is split into two teams. Each team member will perform exercises while the first person in line will fill the holy cup,(it’s a cup with holes in it to let the water leak out thereby encouraging running) and run down around the farthest cone then back to a second cup that is to be filled. Exercises are merkins, squats, plank for the guys not running with the leaking water jug.
This was one of my favorite parts to watch as PAX had different theories and strategy was definitely a factor in the outcome. There were some cheaters so the rules had to be adjusted to only carrying the jug with one hand. Great job fellas pushing yourselves to win for your team. (IT especially was running fast)

Last but not least was the “nobody is watching my six” dodgeball.
Pax around the circle perform seal jacks while trying to hit the person in the middle. If you hit the person you then go into the middle and take a turn dodging while they take your spot around the circle. At first, it was only one person and one dodgeball which was pretty elementary so we had to add more excitement by adding a second person in the middle and a second dodgeball. So now there are two people in the middle and two dodgeballs in play. It became much more chaotic which I enjoyed and many more guys were getting into the dodging action. The game also added some chaos because with only two out of 4 dodgeballs in play at a single time everyone had to be aware of the sequence at which the dodgeballs were allowed to enter the game. To make it as easy to remember as possible we established that the order of balls that could be in play was green, yellow, red, and finally blue. So the game starts with the green and yellow balls in play and if one of the green or yellow balls ends up outside the circle then the next ball which is red becomes active.

Kudos to Uber for his world-class dodgeball skills.

Hope you guys enjoyed it and it was great to see Tinsel back out in the gloom after his rabdo scare.

Thanks for the opportunity 38 to lead. Stay frosty my friends,
Olaf

Burpee Bizarre

We had 11 men show up on Wednesday at Pantheon.  After the disclaimer, we ran around the parking lot to get the blood flowing.  Next, we circled up for some warm-up exercises (SSH, Imperial Walkers, Windmills, Plank Stretches).

We began the difficult part of the workout.  For the next 10 minutes, we would do 10 burpees each minute with a five second rest in between each set.  After completion, we ran around the big loop to the front of the school.  We did a series of exercises in cadence (Squats, LBCs, Lunges, Flutters) running between the cross walks after each one.

Next, we returned to the top of the parking lot and repeated the 10 minute burpee exercise.  It was difficult, but most completed the burpees, a total of 200.

Great job by everyone.  Today we showed how much we can do when you are surrounded by others who want to improve themselves.

Pantheon 3/31/21

It was a beautiful morning with temps in the low 60’s and a light breeze.  Was ready to get in a great workout and was greeted by 38 Special and Flounder.  Thought it might be a light crowd with two Q v Q’s planned.  Was excited to lead these PAX though.

Started with the disclaimer and got to it!

Warmup with: 15 SSH, 10 arm circles, a few downward and upward dog positions to get stretched out, then finished out with a mosey around the field (via the driveway around the field).

Main Event: Planned an 2 minute AMRAP with 4 exercises.  Merkins, Squats, Dips and LBCs.  Started with 2 min. of merkins, had chalk to write down our numbers, moseyed about 50 yards, did 25 SSH, then back to do 2 min of squats, 50 yards, 25 SSH then went back to merkins and told the PAX to try to beat their previous number.  Continued on with Squats and then with a set of dips and LBCs and repeated trying to beat our numbers.

With the last few minutes, I was hoping to get in a set of 11’s.  YHC introduced a new exercise – a burpee with a donkey kick…called it the ass-kicking burpee (AKB).  Started with one AKB, did 10 flutters, 2 AKBs/9 flutters, then 3 AKBs to finish as we ran out of time and were all pretty gassed.

COT where praised were shared and closed out with a prayer.

Appreciated the opportunity to lead @38Special and looking forward to sharing some more AKBs at more AOs soon.
